Answer to:
Is there some evolutionary advantage for humans having our ears on either side instead of on top of the head?
I don't know about evolution but I could provide an answer for why we'd rather keep our ears where they are. Your ears act as recievers but sounds can come from a variety of directions. It should be no surprise that most sounds will be coming from our sides and not from above. Most communication between humans is conducted at that level and makes it much easier to for their ears to...

Our biology teacher told us that plants give off carbon dioxide (and he wasn't testing us). How can I report an incompetent teacher?
I'd suggest talking to the Biology teacher about the matter. It's very possible that the Biology teacher can either prove it or correct the mistake. (We're all human, right?) But if that doesn't work and you still feel that the teacher is incompetent and would rather have a different teacher you could mention it to the principle/head of department/another biology...

Why is it colder on the top of a mountain when hot air is supposed to rise?
As air rises it expands and cools and as it descends it compresses and warms up. So by the time the air gets to the mountain it's become very cold.
Oh by the way- the hot air is "supposed to rise" above the colder air around it but as mentioned earlier it will lose it's energy.

Prevention is a lot easier than stopping the objects out right. Objects that are not strapped down or prevented for continuing their course, will remain at the speed they were traveling and as a consequence will...

How many male babies are born in the U.S. every year?
According to the National Center of Health and Statistics in 2003 there were approximately 2,096,335 male births. Normally there's a few more male births than female births but the population ratio seems to even out due to the higher percentage of male mortality rate. There's also an unexplained (and some what disputed) correlation between war and increased male birth rates.
