How difficult is it to trim your dog's nails? Any tips?
Easier if nails are pink as you can see the "quick"
You need heavy duty proper nail clippers, and they need to be strong and sharp or you can hurt your dog.
First just take the tips off, then as you get more confident take a little more next time, but be careful not to go to far or you will have a bleeding nail, its not the end of the world, but it does make a mess!

My dog's 1 year old and he's a min pin. i go for walks 5 times a walk at least with him, and there an hour or 45 mins long. every time someone walks by , either alone or with there dogs, he try's to pull me to them and he barks at them. what do i do?
It sounds like a German Shepherd I used to have, he was very over protective of me and I used to have to cross the road if I saw anyone approaching.
If he is not neutered (fixed) do it now, it will take a while for the hormones to settle but it will make a big difference to him before this becomes a seriously bad habit.

My pomeranian puppy is 2 months old, is he teething, and thats the reason why he continually wants to bite our feet, and hands, or should i put a stop to it, and how do i do that?
Hi, I bredd Pom's, this can be a trait from his parents, one of my stud males does this, he grabs the back of my trousers when I walk, and most of his "kids" do the same. So generally I think this is genetic.
Puppies will chew on most things when they are young, give your pup lots of chewy things like cooked beef knuckle bones, pigs trotters, also toys, they are very playful....

I have a 2 yr old shepard I am considering breeding. How often will she go in heat? And how can you tell if she has been bred? Ive found a male shepard to breed her with, but this is kinda new. Help.
Did you both buy these dogs as Breeding Quality from the relevant breeders?
If not, they are Pets and should be treated as such, you will of course pay more for a breeding/show quality animal as they are going to enhance the breed, pet animals SHOULD NOT BE BRED FROM, so get them both fixed, or speak to the breeders of them for advice.

My 7 month old GSD has been licking at her vagina. There's a slight rash red coloring inbetween her hind legs. She also leaks a urine like liquid from her vagina when laying or siting down. Started 4 weeks after spay. What Could cause this?
It sounds like she has an infection, and maybe a thrush type, you MUST take her to the vet immediately, something is wrong with her for sure, and it could be a problem with the speying operation.
Answer to:
How often will my shepard come into heat so I can have her bred?? She's 2.
A bitch normally has a season every 6 or 7 months, I had a German Shepherd who used to have 3 seasons a year.
In order to register the progeny you need to mate her to a fully registered GSD dog.
However if your bitch is not registered there is no point in thinking about breeding with her.
There are too many unwanted dogs now :-(

I would like to breed my 4 year old male chihuahua with a 3 year old female who has never had pups - What should I know before I decide to do this?
Well if you own both dogs then it will be easy, if not it is best to make sure both dogs are infection free and fully up to date vaccinated etc.
Bitches normally come into season every 7 months, and she will bleed for approx 11 days, when it will have become a clear fluid, she is then ready for mating.
One good tie is normally all that is required, and if your boy is not experienced he may...

Normally neutering sorts most males out, but better done early in life than later, hopefully once he is fixed his "desires" will settle after a couple of months, but it may have already become a "habit" so you will need to help him stop if that should be the case.

Also how do i stop a cat scratching the sofa? ive tried scratching posts and spray i daren,t go out and buy anouther three peice?
This is going to be a VERY difficult task for you, as once a cat finds a fav scratching place they will always go back to using it, given the chance.
The best solution is to remove the item, and make sure you have plenty of substitutes e.g. scratch posts, another way is to cover the item so the cat cannot get at it, but you do have a problem which is a bad habit to break. Good Luck

Does anyone know how many litters a dog and a cat can have at one time?
Do you mean litters or progeny?
A cat can be pregnant by two males and carry two sets of kittens one in each "horn" however usually one set will normally die/abort, although I have heard of kittens surviving from both litters, but not all of them.
Cats to my knowledge can have up to 12 kittens, gawd help them!
Dogs vary from one pup in some breeds to 13+ in others

Have you ever felt like you were buried under a gigantic pile of dirt?
Confuscious he say,
A little bird was flying in the freezing weather, and his wings frozen he fell exhausted into a pile of cow dung, the warmth of the dung warmed him up and defrosted his wings, so he began to sing.
Just then a big cat came along, heard the bird singing, and ate him;
the moral is, when you are warm and happy in a pile of shit, keep your mouth shut!

If you had the choice to take as much money as you could carry and gold was the heaviest and the 1 dollar notes were the most cumbersome what would you carry if you had to cross a 5 day desert and you had to pack your own water and food
It would make sense to take the notes as you could evenly distribute them to make transportation easier, also if you needed to shed some weight you could be more selective and I feel lose less financially.
I go for the cash :-)

From a lot of responses I get here on AB, I seem to notice that a lot of people (especially young people), have an animosity against police. Don't you think that's a sad statement about our society?
Personally I think that the Police are some of the biggest crooks around, plus many take advantage of their situation. I have had many dealings with them on various matters.
On the other hand there are some really good guys about, genuine and fair, sad for them they get
job-lotted with the others.

Answer to:
Do you find it disturbing that a lot of entertainment (movies, t.v shows, but particularly video games and songs (e.g., rap) encourage violence towards the police? What kind of message is that sending to our young people?
Its pretty obvous what message is being sent and received, by the voilence and behaviour we witness from young people today (no disrepect to any decent ones of course)
Our standards seem to have gone down the WC, sadly the population seems to be following.

My dog won't eat by herself unless you hand feed her. How can I get her to eat out of her bowl by herself? She will no eat unless she is hand fed.

Also if she is young or from a rescue she may not be used to eating from a bowl.
I recently bought a new Stud Male and at 3 yrs old he did not eat from a food bowl as sadly he had not used to one. He is fine now.

I went to breed my male with a bitch but he did not do anythiing, could there be something wrong with my male
First he needs to be old enough and know what is expected of him, also of course the bitch needs to be ready to accept the male, (usually 11+ days in season) if the timing is not right and he is not experienced then you are wasting your time!
My males are experienced stud boys and know immediately when a bitch is ready, your lad really needs a bit of help at first.

Ear Mites for sure, they must be pretty bad as well for him to make his ear bleed, you need the proper ear drops from the vet and need to use them for a week, then a week off, then again for a week and repeat, as you need to destroy the eggs also when they hatch.

During my female's last heat, her fertile period didn't start until the 16th day. Is this going to be her normal heat pattern? And when I bred her again should I wait until the 16th day before I bring in the male to mate with her?
The general rule of thumb is 11 days or 12 days a bitch should be ready for the stud. However dogs like us are all different and all you can do is moniter the colour of the discharge when she is in season again (normally every 7 months from beginning of last season) and when it goes clear the deed can be done, if she does the same e.g. goes 16 days, then I guess she is a 16 day gal!

My cousin has 4 cats and I dread going to her house when I'm invited. The ammonia smell is stifling. It makes my eyes water and it stings my throat. She seems totally oblivious to this. Should I say something? Is there anything that can get rid of odors?
Oh dear, I have been to breeders houses that smell like this, mind you they have maybe 20 cats running around, in the case of only 4 cats, this is totally unacceptable and must be dealt with, as difficult as it may be, you MUST tell her.... and I guess you must be the only visitor she has?????
She is as you quite rightly say totally oblivious to this, but she will be aware it does smell,...

Just found out my cat is 4 weeks pregnant but i wormed her 3 days ago, will this harm the babies?
No it will not hurt her or the babies, in fact it is good to do this prior to birth. Also for healthy babies start worming at 4 weeks, do weekly until they leave home (12-13 weeks) then suggest to new owners they are done monthly until 6 months and thereafter depending on indoor/outdoor - indoor twice annually, outdoor 4 times annually.
You really cannot overworm a cat - especially one who...

I have a 5 month old Boxer/Collie X, She is very intelligent, but when I get her on a leash, she acts like she doesn't remember anything! I am having a really tough time getting her to behave on walks, any helpful tips?
She is still only a baby and wants to play, just be firm with her, do not allow her to pull, jerk her back and say heel or no, love and rewards are the best way to train any animal, but do enjoy her puppyhood!

I am planning to spay my 6 month old Boxer/Collie cross. She hasn't shown any signs of heat, should I wait until she goes through one cycle or should I just go ahead? Also is this too soon?
To be honest now is the best time to spey her, there is no reason whatsoever to let any pet go through heat, pregnancy or birth unless you you want to breed.
6 months is a good time to spey her, she will fill out and mature more after she is done.

My baby 8 lb. female yorkipoo, 1 yr. old was fixed yesterday. She is shaking periodically and wants to be completley alone in her bed under the coffee table. Does anyone know if this is normal behavior? Please le me know if you've experienced the same?
Hi, it sounds to me like it is shock, and it is not abnormal for the body to go into shock after an op.
Rescue Remedy is wonderful stuff, get it from your Heath Store - or a tiny drop of brandy - yes brandy, I have saved many animals lives with it.
She will only need about a teaspoon, that will calm her down.
Answer to:
I am new at dog birth. Is it normal for a female to have a slight bloody appearance around the vulva?Almost like she is in heat.
What stage of pregnancy is she at?
The only time she should have a "show" will be when she is getting ready or close to whelping.
Generally 63 days from mating.
Answer to:
I have two yorkies which are both virgins. My female is ready to be mated and my male is keen to do it but when he gets going he doesn't seem to be "hitting the spot" and when his things out it isn't even in the right direction can something be done?
Inexperience !
Just let them stay together and hopefully nature will take over, we can find it hard to hit the spot at first :-) - also she willa not be ready for mating until at least the 11th day of season.
Answer to:
How long does it take before you can tell that a dog is pregnant
It is easier in a maiden bitch - however the vulva will swell when she is in season and if she is mated and gets prgnant it will stay swollen throughout the pregnancy. This is a sure sign!
Answer to:
I have a pug dog he has really good bloodlines we have tried to breed him with other bitches he seems interested but we cannot get him to mount the bitch all he does is sniff and lick?
You do not mention his age, although some entire males are able to mate from 6/9 months of age.
Are the bitches in season?, whereas some mnales will mount anything in or not in season, others are more selective and will onlyt try to mount a bitch in heat.
How much experience do you have with dog breeding?
Maybe ask a local breeder near you for help.

Answer to:
Why is it that cats only drink milk and dogs drink only water?
Actually dogs will drink either water or milk without having any serious problems, on the other hand cats should ONLY be given water, cows milk can and often does cause severe stomach and gastric upsets in cats.
| 5 people like this
Answer to:
My cat is barely eating she used to eat 4 times a day now 1, she mostly drinks milk. She is 5 months old.
Most probably you have caused her major stomach problems by giving her milk, you must stop this immediately, cows milk is not for cats, it is for calves. (not really even for us)
Water is what she needs, try some MINCED boiled chicken or MINCED boiled fish to tempt her.
HOWEVER, she will be teething at 5 months, so that is probably causing sore gums and making it difficult for her to eat,...

What is the best way to calm a cat down?
Leave it alone !
You cant force a cat to do anything, let alone calm down!!!
put a semi-covered box somewhere near her and some chicken, ham or other treat in it, hopefully she will "hide" in the box with the treat until she has chilled out.
Answer to:
My cat has black stuff around her nose clear down to her chin, it has a weird smell. plus her nose and ears are hard and crusty. what does this sound like?
Just try gently washing the area to see if it comes off easily, you will then get a better idea of what it is. She could have put her nose in anything!
I would keep close eye on her and if it comes back take her for a check up at vet.
Answer to:
Why does my cat throw up her food after she eats?
It depends how soon after eating also what it comes up looking like!
If the food has been digested, then it could be a low grade bug.
However in most cases it is just a case of re-gurgitating the food, or bolting the food, which just comes back quickly and often the cat re-eats it.
I doubt it is an illness as she probably would not be eating at all.
Try a light diet of fish & rice or...
Answer to:
My three indoor cats all exhibit the same behavior -- they shake their heads and scratch at their ears. At first I thought: ear mites! However, I've looked and see no black gunk. Any ideas? No money for a vet right now.
Whether you can see them or not, there is a very good chance your cats have mites, you do need to get them checked out immediately as this is a very uncomfortable situation for the cat to be in.
There is a possibility of fleas, but these would be in the fur not the ear.
To be honest, I feel people should only have a pet if they can afford to look after it, I do feel you must think about...

My female cat is not allowing the male cat to mate with her. She just starts a fight with him. I thought about putting them in a pen together. Should I? We had the female first and we got the male cat later. so the male (romeo) grew up with the female
Is your female in call (season/heat) ? You will know this by the way she reacts when you stroke her near her tail, she should drop down at the front and raise her rear/tail end up with her body almost arched.
Also you will see that her vulva is very pink could almost be red, is she is not showing these signs she is not in season.
Some cats verbally "call" - loud meous, others are...
Answer to:
I have an 8 month old cat. As far as I know she has never been in heat. Is it possible for her to be this old and never have gone into heat?
Whilst some breeds of cat will come into "call" (season/heat) as early as 4-5 months, it is not abnormal for a female to not have a call until 1 year or 18 months.
It all depends on the breed if cat!
Answer to:
My cocker spaniel had 6 puppies last night. She let me assist throughout the whelping process but since the last whelp she will not let me anywhere near the puppies. She growls and lunges at me if I approach them. Should I leave her for a while?
Absolutely, leave her, one of my bitches whelped today, I am the only person she will allow near her pups, and as for my other dogs, if they go anywhere near the pen she gets really nasty.
Don't worry, they will all be okay, just give her a few days to settle and gently talk to her, tell her how clever she is.
Also she will have to leave the nest at some point, have the clean bedding...

The breed is already small, a friend recently "booked" the runt of the litter and it died just before she was going to collect it - give it some thought, you would be better off with a decent strong pup, it would be awful for you if you had this pup and it died

Wood pellets are best, they are non carciogenic, after reading test results from Cats Magazine (UK) when they tested all litters it was found that the wood pellets are best overall, plus they contain the smell better.
Fullers Earth is messy (as you know :-))) ) The granule type, grey or white contains too much dust, therefore not good for reasons above, and the crystals are fine if you just...

Generally a cat will purr when it is happy or just near to its beloved owner, petting the cat will normally induce lots of purrs.

I never heard my cat call, but i think she may be pregnant,is this possible?
It is not uncommon for a queen to call when she is already pregnant, this would normally occur around the 3 week stage, if she is a maiden queen it is fairly easy to tell if she is pregnant, check her teats, if they are pinker than normal most likely she is pregnant, they will gradually get pinker and redder as she gets nearer her time.
Normal gestation is 63 days, siamese/oriental 65 -68, can...

Why does my unaltered female cat, hiss and growl at my newly fixed male cat, even though they were best friends before the procedure?
Cats are incredibly territorial, and "he" now smells different to what he did before, things will settle, good idea is spray a little cologne or perfume on your hand and stroke both of them with it, also give them some nice treats like cooked chicken together on same plate, hopefully it will not take long before all is back to normal.

My ex took my kids! the divorce seperationetc.nothing is final! She came n got them after she got the D. papers and didn't like what they said. they have lived with my parents all their lives. She said they r going to live with her now. What can i do?
You must go to get legal help IMMEDIATELY. You can of course prove that your kids have lived with your parents, (you with them there as well??? - important) You must take legal steps now to get custody of them. Sadly this is more often given to the wife, but if you can prove that your parents have and will with YOU care for them you should get custody.
you can appeal against anything in court...

I live in an area of beaches, deserts, green belts, theme parks, state parks, mountains, malls and theatres but still the kids hang out in the street obstructing traffic. Lazy kids or lazy parents?
I blame the parents, kids learn what they live, so lazy parents/parenting will produce layabouts !
Also parents need to enforce behaviour reequirements, sadly these days the younger ones seem to care little about this. No offence meant to anyone here, but it saddens me to see this in the UK.

Answer to:
Why would a mother cat reject her baby after 3 weeks
This is totally abnormal in a normal healthy mother/kittens relationship. Especially at 3 WEEKS!
However, if she only has the one baby it could be that her milk has dried up, in which case you can substitute either Lactol or other cat milk replacement products available from your vet.
To get out of trouble quickly you can use evaporated milk (Carnation or similar) from supermarket, 3...

My labrador puppy seems to think he's the boss in the house, and ignores me when he's being naughty. How do let him know I am the Alpha in the pack, and that he needs to listen and obey me?
Get him neutered and his temperament will improve drastically (you don't state his age?) you must be as you say the ALPHA, and he must learn to respect the hand that feeds him and loves him.
Perhaps some serious training with rewards for good behaviour may help, but you really must be firm now or it could get worse if he feels he is winning! Good Luck.

Is he neutered? if not he should be! Quite possible he has been upset, frightened or maybe even hurt by a female before, however, maybe take him some treats and try to make friends, it could if as I said be due to bad treatment be what he needs to get over the trauma, love is the best healer in the world hon!

I have 3 female dogs, 2 lakeland terriers one is 2 the other is 1 and an airedale 7months. recently 2 lakelands have been fighting, I dont want to put my dogs away. What can i do to stop the fights?
You need to ascertain what is causing the fighting, as it is three females, it can really only be a dominance thing I feel, I would most certainly get them all neutered ASAP as this will definitely help with the "mood swings" you should notice a big difference withing 3 - 6 months after

Why does my male cat hump my other male cat? Is it a dominance issue? The other cat really hates it.
If they are both entire, it is probably "target practice" also if they are neutered, again it will depend on the age of them when they were fixed. Best to do neutering by 6mths, as males become sexually active then (normally).
If they were neutered after they had matured and become "males" instead of kitties, then basic instinct will make them do this to dominate, or as I...

In aeronautics, wings generate lift and spoilers kill lift, so when mounting a spoiler on your car is it correct to call it a wing? considering those two things do the exact opposite thing.
In the UK we use the spoiler at the front of the car under the bumper area for downforce, and the wing on the boot (trunk)again it should create downforce, that why they have a wing in the back of a Top Fuel dragster 300mph +

A dog is never to old to learn new tricks!
I train my dogs through love and respect, no matter what age they are when they come to me.
If you can get a dog/cat pen then this will make it easier for you, basically make sure they do their bits as late as possible and put them in pen with bed, no food or water after say 5pm to start with, and make sure they empty their bladder and bowels before...

At what age should one neuter a dog?
Depends on the dog or bitch, bit like us, no one is the same, any time from 6 months according to growth and amourous activity. A bitch often has her first season at 7 months, some dogs can get a bitch pregnant when the dog is only 6 months old.

Just checked your photo, it does look like fluid, it is natures way of protecting the wound etc., best not drained, vet will check it when he takes stitches out.
Answer to:
Any ideas why my cat would obey like a dog? He comes when I call him, chases his tail & loves to sleep next to me
Cats are extremely intellegent, much more so than dogs, my cats and dogs follow me round all over the place, I have to actually prevent them all from getting in bed with me, as they would, your cat loves you a lot, you are a very worthy owner!
Answer to:
My 9 year old cat has started licking me and then biting me during the night. He always licks my hand or face first and then bites. Last night he actually drew blood. He is affectionate all the time and stays close to me. How can I stop him from biting?
If he is not fixed get him fixed NOW, also ask your vet for Andracur (female hormone).
However if he is already neutered, then it is attention seeking and being over affectionate, sad but maybe keep him out of your bedroom for a while, and if he starts doing this at other times, water pistol best for teaching cats "no" - never smack a cat, they will not forget!
I guess you could...

quite possibly a reaction to the surgery, a wound can get fluid around the area, it is feels like it could be fluid, it will subside and best left alone, vet may want to drain it, but it will just come back, let it go down by itself.
If it is not "sqwidgy" get it checked immediately, anyway stitches should come out 7 days after op.
Hope all is okay.

How long do daschunds stay in heat? Do they bleed the entire time?
Hi, Normally a bitch will bleed, the blood slowly getting paler and pinker towards the 11th day when it will become clear, she is then ready for mating, so if you do not want her pregnet keep her in.
You will also notice the vulva is swollen, if she is mated and gets pregnant it will stay like this, however when it returns to normal the season/heat is over, time can vary, but keep a check on...

Can you get a basically nice cat to tolerate being held when she does not seem to like it much? She is only 9 months old, but spayed already. Will she ever get calmer and let us hold her?
Ahh, cats are very independent in that way, you need to ignore her! let her come to you, she will eventually just have to sit on your lap, my cats always sit on people who don't want them, or if they have decent dark clothes on or whatever. Do not try forcing the issue, you will just push her further away, just as I said go the other route and she will come round - wait and see! good luck

I was grooming my dog, who is usually very calm, and enjoys this sort of thing. Though suddenly she jumped up due to laying so long, and I accidently cut a bit of her skin. There is a flap of skin that comes up but she isn't bleeding
Don't worry, if you can get some wound healing powder, it will help dry it (if it is moist) or use Aloe Vera Gel to speed up healing. The skin will dry and drop off most probably.
Answer to:
We were given a 1 yr old Yorkie around 6 months ago. She is thriving, but her hair is still thin. Also, after her bath she smells great and feels wonderful. A day or so later, her hair is corse and she starts to smell. Is this caused by her diet?
Try a different shampoo, I use "Dirty Beastie" by Wahl (professional) for my son's Yorkie, he smells awful - it starts with his feet! I have to bath him much more than my Pomeranians as he makes them all smell, seems that Yorkies are smellier than some other breeds.
Also, use conditioner, lots of it, to keep the coat sleek

My pit bull is pregnant, I'm worried because it is day 68. What should I do?
She has gone well over, has she shown ANY signs of whelping? - if not I would take her to vet at least for a scan, she may need a caesarian, good luck, I hope all goes well.

I am thinking of buying an 11 week old Brittany puppy. Both parents are AKC registered but the puppy is not due to the age of the father. Its mother is 8 years old and the father is 12 years old. Does the age of a dog's parent affect its health?
I do not think it does personally, he obviously was not firing blanks! It is not uncommon for older animals to have less progeny.

My cavapoo has had the same adjustable collar since she was a puppy. she is now full-grown, and the collar still fits. (I can easily fit two fingers beneath it) Do I need to get her a new one?
If it still fits then you don't, so long as it is in good order and is strong enough for her.

WHY DID MY DOG ONLY HAVE A LITTER OF TWO PUPPIES?
Depending on the breed, litter sizes vary, also if she was a maiden, she will most probably have more next time when she will be more relaxed about it all.
Answer to:
I gently separated my two "busy" Pomeranians. Could that hurt them?
I am sure you would have known if you had hurt them, anyway it could not have been a very good "tie" (- that is where the bitches muscles contract and hold the male in place, she releases him, it can take quite a while before he is released).

Answer to:
What is the most "user firendly" type of dog?
Depends on what you like, long or short haired, also of course what you can accomodate in your home.
Small breeds, Pomeranians, not snappy, laid back, great with kids and cats, extremely intellegent. Do need grooming, have beautiful coats.
Large, German Shepherd, make sure it is not interbred, check pedigree, most important for temperament,a bitch is the best for a family, a dog is best for...
Answer to:
Does your dog's personality or wieght change after becoming neutered?
Just noticed full question, soz.
Weight gain normal, so keep an eye on diet/food intake.
Personality can well change for the better, most certainly improve males, turn them from being agressive into "pussies" - best done early as possible.
Also I have known of entire males who have who have turned very nasty on their owners, so best to neuter them all if not to be bred from.
Answer to:
How do I find the answer to my question, it was about my 15 yr. old cat being very underweight and drooling alot?
Sounds like teeth, if the gums are red, could be gingivitus, which will prevent a cat eating, but at 15 it is usual for the teeth to be in pretty bad shape. You can have a look if the cat will let you, but Best to go to vet and check to see if they need to remove some.
Bad teeth can also cause bad breath.... check it.

*sigh* How can I get my puppies to stop licking me so violently and to stop clambering all over me all the time?
Be firm with them! or they will learn bad habits before they go to their new homes, or are these pups you have bought for yourself, however, they must learn to respect you or they will be totally out of control by adulthood.
A tap on the nose can prove helpful, water pistol works well with cats, but I teach mine by the way I talk to them - I teach all my animals "NO" and believe me...

Answer to:
Does your dog's personality or wieght change after becoming neutered?
Both dogs and cat normally have a weight increase after neutering, I have been told this is due to the hormone levels changing, plus stress of hormones is decreased in both sexes.
As a breeder I always advise people who have kittens or puppies from me to neuter as early as possible for the animals best interest.
Answer to:
Do dogs think? Have they the capacity for rational thought?
Not when there is a bitch in season or a steak dinner on the floor.....! (my males anyway!)
Answer to:
How can I train my dogs to come when I call them by name?
They know their name?, then use rewards to praise them when they come when called, or when they do anything you are training them to do.
Most dogs will run to owner if called or alerted normally, unless your dog is very nervous, you should not have a problem with the "learn & reward" system.
Answer to:
Dogs chase cats - but do they hurt them if they catch them?
My money is always on the cat, they have 18 sharp bits called claws that a dog does not have!
Plus they are more agile and can move much faster.
I guess a dog could hurt a cat, but I still place my bets on the cat doing major damage to the dog, I breed both siamese cats and pomeranian dogs (used to have german shepherds) and I know without a doubt who rules the roost here!

My husband found little black bugs running around on our kittens that are 2 days old. They don't seem to like the light. Are these fleas? How would you treat fleas in new kittens?
Tea tree is a natural flea repellant also, so put some on you and family until the little devils have gone.
Answer to:
My husband found little black bugs running around on our kittens that are 2 days old. They don't seem to like the light. Are these fleas? How would you treat fleas in new kittens?
Frontline is the safest, in SPRAY form, treat the queen, check the pack for age you can do babies, until then eat plenty of garlic, hopefully it will stop them biting you! (most certainly flea's)
Best to do all chores like de-fleaing, worming etc., prior to kittening.

Answer to:
How do you keep a cat out of the windows?
Get a decent water pistol, they are the best for stopping our felines from mis-behaving!
Also, once you have hit the cat a couple of times with water you will only have to show the pistol to the cat and they will stop!
Eventually they understand not to do it!
It does work !

Answer to:
I have a siamese/tabby mix cat, about how big will he get?
All cats gain weight once neutered. Normally A male will weigh more than a female, I have some pure siamese stud males that weigh over 16lbs, neutered they would be even more, so with a mix of male sia x he could easily make 16lbs, make sure to worm him and neuter ASAP.
Answer to:
Why is my staffordshire bull terrier bitch humping my daughter all the time. She has been nuttered.
I guess you mean your staffy bitch has been NEUTERED, not your daughter been nuttered, strange how our fingers get in a mess and we hit submit before we see what we've put!!
Usually a hormone thing, my friends bitch, due to have her first litter of pups this weekend has been humping one of her neutered male cats..... its usually a hormone thing!

What is the best type of dog to get?
Depends on what size of dog you can accomodate?
I love German Shepherds, but since I moved back to London, due to less garden space, I now have (and breed) Pomeranians, they are great a small dog, really laid back, clever and intellegent, great with kids and cats, the only small dog I would personally trust with young children.

Answer to:
What can I do about my dog's breath? I've tried milk bones, doggie breath mints, brushing her teeth, and her breath STILL smells like something died in a trash can on a hot day. Could her halitosis indicate a medical problem?
Badx breath can indicate stomach problems, or gum/teeth probloems, maybe put her on a lighter diet and if no improvement get her checked by vet. If her gums look red could be gingivitis.

What is your thoughts on buying dogs from pet stores?? do you know where the puppies are really comming from?
I personally do not agree, but someone has to buy the poor things, I just hate people who would even consider SELLING to pet stores.
In England our governing bodies ban us from selling kittens to pet shops, only un-registered breeders do this. So sad.
Answer to:
Dogs season at what age can i expectmy small whippet to have her first season? she is 17months old, her larger but full litter sister had her first season at 10 months thanks
Normally bitches have a season every 7 months, but of course there are always exceptions to the rule.
Again normally I would have expected her to coincide with her litter sister or have her season shortly after, at 17 months should should have already had 2 seasons, you have just got to wait. Maybe she is barren.

Answer to:
Do male cats sometimes kill newborn kittens? Are there any warning signs?
As far as I am aware this is nature, if the kittens die the queen/female will come back into call, then of course the male will get to mate her again.
Normally a good mother will fight off any threats with her life, but always best to keep other cats away from babies for safety, although some males will help with the rearing process it is not worth the risk.
No signs I am aware of (as cat...

Answer to:
Do females tend to put on more weight then male cats?
Males tend to be larger than females in most breeds, and once neutered cats will all gain weight, as the stress of hormones is taken away.
Each breed will have an ideal weight for male, female and neutered - best to check out with breed standard for your particular breed of cat. Any cat that is overfed will tend to be overweight, male or female!

Possibly until the cat dies, depending on whether it has rhino'(feline herpes) or calici virus, also the strength of the strain of the type it has, there are many, many mutations of this.
You can give amoxcillin (human drug) 5 days at max 50mg day, if you cannot afford vets.
Also tetracycline (human) 50mg daily 5 days

Can a chihuahua be pregnant and have her period?
Well I know I did when I was pregnant, so I guess it is possible.
Important, did you notice if the vulva stayed swollen after she was mated before???? as it stays swelled up once the girl is pregnant, so wait until this lot of bleeding stops (I hope she is not losing them - it can happen) and check her vulva a couple of weeks later, that will give you your answer. Good Luck

Don't leave it too long, especially if your bitch is of a small breed, if the dog that mated her was larger take her to the vets now, she may need a caesar to get the pup out.
On a different note I had a siamese queen produce 2 kittens a day over a 4 day period, my vet at the time did not believe this could be possible.

I have a 30 lb american cocker spaniel and a 100 lb treeing walker hound. they tried to mate yesterday and we couldnt stop them. weve prevented it from happ. again. what r the risks to my little female dog?
You have a major problem here, and I think the safest is for you to get her to vet immediately, he can if you act quick give her a shot to end pregnancy.
I lost a bitch like this via an accidental mating from a larger dog, be careful hon, it could kill her, she will almost certainly need a caesar which should be done no later than the 63rd day. Good Luck

Very similar to any other animal really, humans have the most difficult time giving birth on this planet, be ready for pups from 60 days.

Whats the oldest a dog can be and still give birth. Is there a big chance a really old dog will die from it?
Well I used to breed horses and my oldest mare was still having a foal every year until she was 20, then when she was not covered (mated) she developed severe arthritis and sadly had to be put down the following winter, god bless her.
When an animal is too old to produce it won't, it is as simple as that, in nature we could not control it, so providing the male is smaller than her there...

Try stimulating mums milk yourself by massaging her teats and "milking" type actions, hopefully the milk will come to the tips - then PLUG THE PUPS IN TO MUM, it can take a maiden a couple of days before the hormones kick in, so I hope this all works out for you and babes,...

How do you tell that your dog is in labour? My small dog is just barely pushing or contracting, you can't barely notice her. She is due on March 20th, Is it possible that she's early? Also her "tummy" seems to have moved farther back(closer to hind legs.)
Are you sure she is not due till 20th!!!!
They dont usually change shape (drop) so early, also could she have mated earlier than you are aware?

Answer to:
My male 4 year old keeps trying to mate with my 1 1/2 female st brenard but she will not let him i think shes in heat only sign is swollen privite..and nipples are hard how do i get her to stand for him ?will she ever?
If she is still bleeding then she is not ready yet.
blood will get lighter in colour towards 11th day and should be clear fluid by then, a bitch will nomally accept a male from the 11th day onwards.
Once she is pregnant, her vulva (private parts:-) ) will stay swollen up, so maybe he has already been there!
Gestation is 60 days from mating, but can go over.

Yes, easy bits of tree trunk are great for climbing/scratching, also get some thick cord or nylon cord (last longer) and wrap it tightly around close together which she will use to scratch on, we dont need to buy expensive scratch posts!
Also you can make all sorts from old shelves, pieces of wood, old cupboards etc.,

Surely the person who has asked you to do this thinks you know what you are doing here!
How old are they? are they weaned?
I guess they must be from a rescue centre, and hopefully should be eating and drinking without assistance from humans, if not do not take them, you could kill them if you don't syringe feed properly.

I am sure where you are there must be charity org's etc., in UK we have Cats Pfotection League, PDSA, RSPCA, Blue Cross etc., check out phone book and www, she obviously needs teeth removed, also a dental/descale and most probable a course of Antirobe/Clindamycin, poor soul she must be in pain, hope you can get her sorted.

You can get a "gentle" fabric muzzle which will allow her to eat drink etc., but not bite or bark much, well worth the minimal expense for the dogs freedom, however she is still a baby and you must obviously train her to do what YOU want her to do and not what SHE wants to do, a rolled up newspaper can come in handy - water pistols work well on cats, but unlikely to help with dogs in...

My newly adopted 4 month old kitten's third eyelids are constantly visable. how worried should i be?
Usually the "haw" (third eyelid) comes up when the cat is either unwell (or half asleep.)
Possibly her eyes were damaged before you got her, if not this could be a reaction to an infection, keep an "eye" excuse the pun, on her and if she looks off colour or goes off her food, gets loose stools - anything, get her vet checked.
Answer to:
I have NEVER seen a cat as finicky as mine and it is turning into a huge problem. Any advice? Some details in answer...
I bet I have seen worse! No healthy animal will starve itself to death - SO do not let her rule you, you are the food provider, give her dried food - IAM's is best and water and leave her to get on with it, it will probably take a couple or few days, but she/he WILL eat!
Do not give anything else at all...... good luck, it will work believe me.

My cat is a house cat and i hate it ( i cudent let her out in house b4 cuz top floor flat ) and when i shut her out now she meows the house down every hour. what do i do? im fed up with her peeing on my carpet .. and she uses her litter tray ALOT!
Get rid of carpets and put laminate floor down, get her a companion, she is lonely! (they can pee together..) only joking, she is obviously stressed because she needs another cat/kitten to play with, probably why she is taking it out on your carpet! Cats do stuff like this when they are upset or stressed.

My 4 year old st bernard had niped at my two year old son causing him to get stiches two in nose 2 upper lip dog had never bit before first time. he lives out side now but will they take him and will cps be involved how does all this work..concerned mom
Hi, in UK the dog has to have 3 reported bites (to the police or authority) before the police come and remove him, I had this happen to me, and instead of letting them take my dog, I took the day off from work and took him back to the breeder, when the Police arrived I told them he had run away - I WAS NOT GOING TO LET THEM PUT HIM TO SLEEP, it was not his fault, the person he bit the 2nd two...

Hi there, she still hasnt had the pups and still running around and happy. she is a jack russel and totaly mad. she lossing more mucus every now and then her tempo has stayed the same (and i must say tht she looks forward to temp taken. just waiting now .
HI, If you know the date of mating, it should be 60 days or 2 months from then for pups to arrive, although my bitch is normally couple days late, so just be ready 60th day onwards, good luck, the discharge is just pressure as long as it is "clean" and not smelly or foul. x
Answer to:
Hey how do u know if a dog (chiuhuahua) is ready to give birth? is it normal 4 them to get sick 1st?
Hi, normal gestation for a dog is 60 days or two months from the date of mating, but they rarely whelp on time, mine are usually a couple of days late.
So if you know the mating date, work it out from there and be ready from 60th day!
It is not normal for them to be sick, and once she has whelped she will not allow other dogs near her pups, or cats, she could become quite savage towards them...

I have a six month old kitten who will use the dirt tray but at times will poop on the carpet near the dirt tray she dose go out but we dont know if she poops outside. What can we do to stop her pooping on the carpet.
Hi, this is not abnormal, kitty just needs a bit of training. You can try various types of cat litter, she may prefer a different one (get small packs to try) also put newspaper around the litter tray and she will probably do it on there, if the tray has a lid take it off for the time being until she is using it regularly without problems. You MUST cover the area's she has had accidents...

Hi,
I am a cat breeder (www.sharue-siamese.co.uk) for many years. If you have a pedigree cat and want to register the progeny in the UK we are limited to three litters in 24 months.
If you have an un-reg cat, she will probably breed next time in season, this can vary so much from cat to cat. Best is to wait until babies are weaned and eating well, give mum a good rest for at least couple or...

Answer to:
We recently found an abondoned kitten. It's eyes are a beautiful bright blue and he has thick, REALLY soft white fur. It seems that the sunshine bothers him. When outside he keeps his eyes almost closed even when walking around. Why?
White cats can get skin cancer due to their genetics, so take care of him in the sun, make sure he is in the shade as much as possible. Also he possible is sensitive to sunlight, this is not abnormal for a white cat.
The ears are most prone to skin cancer.
Answer to:
I brought home a kitten from the shelter a couple of days ago and ever since he has been making a constant purring noise. Is this due to stress?
Hopefully he is purring because he is content and happy ! Thats what cats do when they are purr!
You will soon know when he is
unhappy or angry, he will lay his ears back and possibly growl, hiss or spit.
Give him lots of love and cuddles to settle him in, he sounds like he is going to be a great purrer!
Answer to:
My cat will eat almost any food I happen to leave laying around (a cookie, a sandwich, etc.) Why is she so easy going about eating any kind of food she can find?
Because stolen food tastes better than her food!, this is typical of cats, I breed them and mine will eat anything they can steal, quite an amazing assortment from raw onions to potato crisps etc.
If you think about it, if someone makes you a coffee it tastes better than the one you make yourself!

Answer to:
I got a cat from the SPCA and she will not eat anything...She has an injury which is being treated but she still won't eat. How long can they go without food
As long as she is drinking she will not become de-hydrated, which is most important, try handfeeding her with things like fresh ham, chicken etc., she is probably just really stressed and a bit traumatised by the move, cats hate moving, they are very territorial. It will take a bit of time, lots of love, cuddles and special treats and it will all work out ok, wish you and her well x

Why does my female cat keep on getting urinary infections? Has recently been on antibotics, but she dousnt drink much water, even though there is fresh water daily.
Your cat will be getting water from places other than her water bowl, cats love stealing, so will drink from taps, puddles, toilet bowls - yes! so she is probably drinking more than you realise anyway.
Sad about the infection, try Iams, supposed to be good for this. I swear by Iams myself. Also maybe get some Aloe Vera human form in capsules and open caps and mix with her food, wonderful...

Answer to:
Will the tom cat leave the female cat alone if they have already breeded or will he keep breeding with her?
When your female comes into call he will mate her again, and whilst she is in call (on heat) he will probably mate her several or many times during that period. Normally a cat will start coming out of heat 2 days after she has "taken". You are then looking at 63 days gestation or 65-70 for siamese or oriental.
If you don't want kittens get them both neutered!
Good Luck, hope...
Answer to:
My dog throws up everytime she eats, why?
It could be that she gulps it down too quickly and it just comes straight back up, I have seen this both in cats and dogs, however if she is eating "normal speed" I would get her checked out by your vet, hope she is okay.
Don't know what food you give her, maybe try something different for sensitive tummy? There are so many foods on Good Luck

Antihistamins will reduce swelling (if it is an allergic reaction) and antibiotics will deal with infection if necessary.
Answer to:
Can my dog only get pregnant when on heat?
Yes, bitches come into season every 7 months (normally) they lose blood for up to 10-11 days, which becomes lighter and pinker, when it goes clear around 11 days she is ready for mating and will (should) happily accept the male.
A male can force a mating on a female when she is not in season (this is NOT normal tho') but she will not get pregnent.
Answer to:
I have a female st bernard(in house) i have a male who stays out side..so i let my female out for a walk while i ran back inside for a sec , when i came out my male was trying to breed with her but she was just sitting down does that mean she is in heat?
LUCKILY that meant she was NOT!
You will know when she is as she will emit blood from her vulva for up to 10-11 days, then the fluid will go clear she is then ready for mating on the 11th day onwards, this is normal behaviour, there can obviously be exceptions!
A bitch normally comes into season every 7 months, her first being at 7 months NORMALLY!

Bangal and Serval Cats - How rare are they? are there any other weird and strange new breeds of Cats?
Surely you mean Bengal? - they are not rare any more, but not really suited to indoor living. You would need a minimum of F6, but preferably F8.
The need trees to climb and water to play in - always down the toilet bowl or in the sink, can be very destructive!
As committee member of Health, Welfare & Breeding I do NOT recommend them unless you have what they need!

Take them home and give them double the love you think you can! they deserve it and I am sure when your friends see the pups they will all want one, you will find good homes for them, just make sure they are permanent!
Retribution for the swine that left them there........

My m- schnauzer has been having trouble with his behind for a long time, i keep his glands clear, vet dont no, when i have him out 4 a walk and its quiet, he will poass gas and he does the same thing also ,any suggestions
Believe it or not it could be IBS (Irritible Bowel Syndrome) which effects humans AND animals, put him on Aloe Vera - get it for humans in capsule form and mix it with his food, it can take up to 3 months for it to start working, keep him on it anyway as is wonderful natural help for all sorts, esp IBS - try it!

Answer to:
My 3 month old kitten does her business, then steps in it and tracks it all over the bathroom. Why does she do this, and how can we train her not to?
First I would get her a bigger litter tray, so she has more room to avoid treading in it! She is only a baby but even adults can do this, she sounds like her stools are loose, they should not be, keep an eye on her motions.
Answer to:
What is the best way to introduce an outside cat to a new environment/home?
First I would suggest you keep him indoors until you are all settled and he knows where he lives, then only allow him in your garden with you under close supervision until you can trust him not to run off!
Answer to:
If a cat was dropped between 50 - 70 feet up in the air and it fell to the ground, would it land laying on its side, or would it land on the ground and be crunched up and jumbled up? I found my cat like this yesterday.
Cats are supposed to land on their feet. But from this height I would be surprised if he is still alive, if so he must be brain damaged, bless him

My female neutered cat, keeps spraying, it's every where in our house and driving me mad. I clean the areas thouroughly with specific cleaner and other advice was to put food where she does it but that's impossible it would be all ove
This is quite rare for a neutered female. It often happens with calling queens. Try citronella, also how long has she been doing this? Has something upset her?
Does your neighbour have a new cat? (territory!!!!) has a visitor upset her, think about anything like changes, visitors etc., around the time this started, normally this sort of problem is related to territory or stress.
Answer to:
We have a new 6mo old kitten and have had her for about 2mos now. She has always gone #1 no problem but getting her to go #2 in the regularly is becoming a big problem. We have provided 2 litterboxes, put her mess in the box to cover,
Try using a different type of cat litter, also sometimes if you put newspaper in front of the tray they will use that.
Apart from that you could try a kitten pen for a while.
Answer to:
My cat LOVES to just play in his litter box (dirty or clean). What can I do to make him stop - he especially likes to do it in the middle of the night.
Sadly there is nothing you can do really, maybe get a 2nd litter try and put no litter in it, just toys?
Answer to:

My 9 month old boxer started vomitting, took him to the vet. Did x-rays and tested his blood. Found infection but since then has stopped eating and drinking and just lays around. Going to call vet in morning but want to know opinions of what is wrong?
Sounds like possible a form of enteritis, however the antibiotics take a couple of days before you would have noticed a big improvement - hope all is well by now.

This vet from the city where I'm not at, at the moment told me on phone to give 'Erythrocin' to my cat for cat flu and cough. What should I do? I'm not sure if should do that.
Hopefully Synulox is available where you are, it is a 5 days course of 50ml x twice daily, best solution for flu.
Also the majority of penicillin or tetracycline based drugs will treat this.
There are many synthetic types of these drugs available from any vet.

I found a stray cat that I've kept in my downstairs away from my cats. I got him neutered and have waited over 1 month for "hormonal" issues to set in. When I let him out to acclimate him to my home and cats...he brutally attacks them. Will this stop?
It will take a MINIMM of 3 months more like 6mths, and could take longer for his hormones to sort out.
Try Andracur - ask your vet for it!
Answer to:
I am quite concerned about my cat. His face was just twitching for about a minute, and when i lay a hand on him to sroke him, he flinched and jumped up. He has stopped now, but i'm wondering what caoused him to do that as it is quite unlike him...
I would think he was just borderline sleep/totally chilled, this also occurs in dogs, you woke him up when you touched him - thats why he jumped! :-)
Nothing to worry about.
Answer to:
My cat is a male, age 13 months, he visits vet regularly but my concern is that he drinks very little water( i mean almost none) the vet seems to think because he will only eat food with gravy that he gets water from that...i'm not sure, any suggestions o
He will be getting water from somewhere! Cats will drink from anything they are not supposed to - taps, puddles, sinks, toilets etc., he obviously is not de-hydrated so don't worry :-)
Answer to:
THow long does a cats pregnacy last, how do you tell if a cat is pregnant, and if the cat is an outdoors cat then when should I bring her inside before she has her kittens so she won't have them outdoors?
Depending on her breed 63 days is normal, however siamese & oriental cats 65 - 70 (max) days.
The first sign is the teats get pink, this can start at 10 days to a trained eye in a maiden very easy to spot, however if your cat is an indoor cat why on earth are you thinking of pushing her outside when she will want to be with you the most? personally as a cat breeder I would ask you to...
Answer to:
I have 2 spayed female cats. One is 2 & the other is 1 yr old.Other male (i think) cats come in2 my garden at 2 a.m makin evil, weird, loud noises. My cats end up fightin&chasing them off. Do they want pussy?(sorry4pun) Will getting a male cat help?
It is the height of the cat breeding season from Dec to April, hence prowling toms, however cats being the most territorial animal on earth are quite proabably fighting over the domain of your garden, getting another cat will not make a lot of difference, but could lead to your male spraying all over the place to mark his territory and quite possibly in your house - and boy can it smell~!

Answer to:
When a puppy sleeps alot and his nose is warm does that mean he is sick?
When was he last wormed? Pups need regular worming, is he your only dog? what happens when you try to play with him? as a pup he should have lots of energy and be playful, his nose should be cold and wet - get him checked out, but if not wormed, try that first, dont leave it long tho' if no improvement - vets
Answer to:
Every 4 months or so our 2 yr old dog shows sign of pain in his rear leg. He yelps and cries I have had him at the vets 3 times and they say its just a sore muscle. He shivers like he is scared, dosn't drink or eat. He hides when he is in pain.
I think you should get a 2nd opinion, has his leg been x-rayed or scanned? this is a MUST.
Certain breeds have certain problems, try to find a breeder who has your type of dog, they should be able to give you some advice.

Answer to:
Left dogs over night to mate. How do i know if mating has occured. The female has bald like marks on her back. Is this a sign that something went on.
This was not a good idea! However, what day of heat is she on??? best mated from 11th day - usually only takes one good "tie" - still you will know soon enough, check out her teats in a couple of weeks, they will pink up - which they are probably now, if she is not pregnant they will return to normal if she is a
maiden.
ALSO the main way to tell if she has taken is to watch her...
Answer to:
My german shepherd is 5 weeks pregnant. I also have another desexed male staffy 1 year old. They are great friends, but lately she has been a bit emotional and snappy. Should i take him to my folk's house now or is it ok to keep him round another 3 weeks?
Things will only get worse, you are lucky you have somewhere to take him, do it now! She might hurt him and if he is still around when pups arrive she will not tolerate him anywhere near her - hope all works out well for you and pups.

We have a dog that had puppies two weeks ago, we are wanting to have them bobtailed, when is the best time to do it and what are the risks?
This is illegal in the UK - think twice about it before you do anything - how would you like something chopped off - if you were born with it, usually it is meant to be there!
Answer to:
I just had a brand new microfiber couch delivered yesterday after being on order for 5 months. My dog jumped on it and peed lastnight. How can I get my dockerspaniel to not jump on my furniture? Thanks.
First keep it covered when not in use, get a big plastic sheet :-) - you can tape bin bags together and make sure you weigh it down. Also buy some Pro Pack Deodoriser - i find the best (am a cat and dog breeder), anyway hopefully by now you will have sorted him out or got another new couch.....
Answer to:
How do you stopa male un neutered dog from spraying all over the house

alternatively keep him outside!

Answer to:
My dog started panting heavily and licking her limbs to cool down. Its not that hot as it is 12 at night. Has she been bitten by a spider or is she a little dehydrated?
For bites/allergies give antihistamin tabs - you can get from vet of drug store - just half human dose for normal dog, 1/4 for small dog.
Also make sure she is drinking - keep check on her water bowl, change and clean daily.
If it is weather/heat related either give her v.cool shower or get out the hosepipe!
Answer to:
Why does my dog rub herself in seafood

Answer to:
I have recently notice that my dog is chewing off her pup's whiskers. Why does she do this? Is it bad for the pup? Any ideas on how I can get her to stop and let them grow back?
hi, cats also do this, after 40 yrs of breeding cats and 3 yrs of dogs, I really do not know why some do this! it is more common in cats than dogs, but it JUST COULD be something to do with safety, as you know the cats whiskers are used to judge gaps, so maybe mum does it for a reason related to that - I really do not know, but it will not hurt them!

How do u take a cat to another city by car [maybe even w/o a cage]
Hi, In the UK it is illegal to transport cats loose in a car, and I personally found out why years ago! when my kitty got under my feet and I almost killed him when I had to brake hard trying to remove him at the same time, so do yourself and the cat a favour - use a carrier!
Make sure he has clean bedding and newspaper underneath in case of accidents.... depending on the length of the journey...

My 3 month old cat usually goes in her litter box, however she has started using my blankets and bed instead. I never seem to catch her in the act, so how can I stop her from doing this?
First keep her out of the bedroom, also provide another 2nd litter tray, maybe a different type of litter? also try newspaper shredded (messy) but sometimes helps.
She is marking you as hers ! or it could be a stress thing, I do not have enough information! however it is hard to stop once started. YOU MUST keep her out of your bedroom, even get a decent sized kitten pen for a few weeks, also...

Answer to:
How old is a kitten when she 1st goes on heat
Hi,
check my website www.sharue-siamese.co.uk it will give you a little bit of help.
However, it depends on the breed of cat, moggys will come in as early as 4 - 5 months - get female kittys speyed as early as the vet will do them - certainly by 6 months and keep them in until done!
Males can be neutered at 14 weeks - best early to avoid spraying, a tough habit to break.

Hi, yes for sure she is pregnant, you obviously do not know when she was mated, but her size increases much towards the end, then in the final few days she will change shape and actually look smaller! this is like us when baby drops, so watch out for size looking less and get out the towels"!

How do pregnant cats behave?
HI, Well pretty much like we would like to be able to behave when we are pregnant, sleep a lot :-) I have been breeding siamese and oriental cats for over 30 yrs... anyway, I always notice after a few days they tend to be more relaxed and chilled out, sleep much more - unlike us, luckily they do not get cravings for things like pickled onions and garlic or whatever! My blue chihuahua is pregnant and due any time. She has started having a clear non smeeling discharge. Her milk has dropped also and she is HUGE. She is still eating, but did not stop eating with her first litter. Any comments would be appreciatede\
I assume by now she has whelped or you have taken her to the vet, anyway it is unlikely you are on the PC unless matters have resolved. Does not sound good, but could just be discharge, depending on colour etc., I hope all is well and REMEMBER NEVER MATE A BIGGER DOG TO A SMALLER BITCH - YOU COULD KILL HER, Good Luck.

How do you go about finding a stud for my dog and how much are they .they are saint bernards
I would sugguest the first thing to do is contact the breeder who bred your bitch, if she is a reputable KC registered breeder, she will certainly know of other breeders to introduce you to, or she may have a 2nd stud un-related. Also she will advise you if your bitch is worthy of breeding from!
If you bought her as a pet, you must find this out first, also do you have full KC registration...
