Is it possible to shut down the Internet world wide?
actually I beg to differ on this. there are actually a few DNS servers (the type of thing that makes www.answerbag.com translate to 66.35.213.113 (although it's in a folder on that server and of course you can't see answerbag.com from going to that IP number, and it will probably result in a page not found or something like that))
If one were to get into the top DNS server(s) for...

In yahoo email 1st page I can't get the left side navigation summary menu to show. Once I changed my acct prefs, the menu hid out. There is no account preferences option to hide/show menu. I use webtv. Can my problem be fixed?
check at the top of the page and at the bottom of the page for an options button, and then try in there, however with webtv it has a different formatting, and therefore may have the bar there or have a way to do it, it's just not on the screen.
You may have to get someone who has regular internet to log into your account and fix it for you (of course this is only someone you know...

How do Internet Content Filters work? Are there any other ways of accessing websites that are blocked by these filters?
internet content filters, often read a web page and if certain keywords are located on those web pages it will block the content. There are several ways around these, although none are easy.
You can set up a linux server, and then connect to it, through SSH and remap your ports to that box, then all things you are looking for will actually hit that computer, be encrypted and then sent to...

When you buy Microsoft Office, can it be loaded onto more than one computer? Does it matter if you buy the CD or downloadable version?
there is a better solution though, it's a program called Open Office
It is available at www.openoffice.org and is 100% free, it has more features than Microsoft Office, and can be installed on as many machines as you want, for free (personal or business) although I'd recommend getting the stable version (I believe it's 1.1.4 right now) and no the unstable version (it's...

What are some creative uses for unwanted CDs?
frisbees are good, however don't play the frisbee with dogs, they will generally chew through the disk, and the small shards of metal foil and plastic will get lodged into their throat or they will swallow them, and I'm sure that doesn't feel the best when it comes out the other end.

My PC (running Windows ME) freezes at a specific point every time I run Scandisk. What could be wrong?
it is very possible that you have a bad sector on your hard drive, and when the scandisk gets to that bad sector it freezes because it can't interpret the data.
restart into MS-DOS mode
and run this command
chkdsk c: /r
(this assumes that your hard drive is drive C)
this will check your hard disck drive for errors and upon finding them automatically repair them for you

Can you become a millionaire with Quixtar like they say? Or is it a scam?
actually it's very possible. I happen to be an IBO and know a few people who are multimillionaires. It does take a lot of work, it's not going to be easy, but if you work hard, and set up what they call eagle structure (talk to the person who told you about quixtar), study how to talk to people, and be an honest, respectible person, who can always be counted on, you could also make...
