Any tips for drawing good portraits of people that don't end up looking like a piece of crap?
I was told this by my art teacher and managed to fluke being artistic for many, many years on the back of this advice.
I've only half accepted that I am simply just well-adjusted to picking shadows.
Anyway, my art teacher told me not to draw the object I see, but to draw what I see. Take that advice with this - draw negative areas, not positive areas. It takes a sec to sink in but what you're...

Do you think parents trying to raise 'child prodigies' should be discouraged? Is it really amazing that a 4 year old can play piano well, but has no childhood to speak of?
It depends on whether the kid wanted to be playing piano or if they were forced to.
You are born with those kinds of talents, they can't be instilled. It is extremely unfair to expect a prodigy from your normal child, you will end up putting so much pressure on that child that they will never be able to be happy with their achievements.
Yeah, I don't think it's OK if it...

Schoolwork to do at home under my watchful eye so as they can appreciate the freedom of school and be happy to go there every day. Same curriculum, same lunch time, same end of school time, but no fun after school, no friends until they go back.

Why spend more money to save energy? Is there a way to spend less and save more?
No, because all of our developed technology wastes energy. Now we need to develop new technology, and fast. There was like 50 years for current energy technology to develop, and we need new energy technology now. We have to do 50 years worth of work into about 15-20 years, and we have to put 50 years worth of funds towards it too.
Is it making more sense now?

I hate those 'to what extent' questions, they assume that everything falls on the same scale.
There are different issues shaped by politics, different ones shaped by religion, different ones shaped by science and even more shaped by a cross between two or even all of them.
Abortion, though, would be the one I'd pick as an example. Religion hindered the Bush admin from...

I don't quite understand what you're trying to ask, but I think the answer is no.
Electronic money and cash money both aren't backed by anything, in effect they are the same thing. Credit is not real money - for every credit transaction, there is a transaction of the same amount plus a certain percent. But debit money is cash money.

My catahoula leapord has been pregnant twice and both times she ate her babies...why does she do this?
I'd start with prevention instead of reason. Take the babies away when she gives birth and look after them yourself.
Animals don't usually do this, but some things may lead them to. For example, if a birds baby is touched by another bird, or a human, or whatever, it will push it out of the nest and let it die.
It could be jealousy - are you giving the babies a lot of attention?...

Is it correct to use the expression “hats down” if you want to express respect or honor to someone or to someone’s attitude? (English is not my native language – so I need your help. Thanks a lot!) :-)
'Hands down' is what I use, and I use it in the context of, for example;
'He is the greatest guitarist, hands down' or;
'She has the best dress at the party, hands down'.
Also - 'He is the worst actor in this movie, hands down'.
You could use 'hats down' in the same contexts, it probably makes just as much sense.

I'd say it's because she is scared of you. Calm dogs usually approach angry dogs like this to lower the chances of being torn to pieces.

I'm conflicted. My s/o wants to drop out of college and he's measuring my amount of love and affection for him by how much I support him on his random business ventures? What do I do? I want to be supportive but I want to be ideal as well :(
Tell him you'll support him, but you feel that you are giving even better support and love by telling him what the rationality of his decisions are. Tell him you will support him through whatever decisions he makes, but you won't be afraid to speak your mind because you feel that that is a measure of love, too. Which it is; if a friend is worried about another friend's life...

Do the kids of today think it's cool to be gay or bi? In my daughters HS so many kids say they're gay or bi & I don't think they realize how many people have been persecuted for it & even killed? I feel like they think it's a joke & it's pissing me off
I think things like Pussycat Dolls and the Veronica glorify female bisexuality. And yes, I do think that young people think it is 'cool'.

Report it, it will help clear your mind of the images. Try not to think too much about yourself here either, you have an obligation to take responsibility and help these young children.
No personal offense, yeah? I'm looking at it from these kids point of view.

Yeah but the issue is that these days, most women have been bought up (especially by their peers - high school parties etc) to believe that being nice to guys equals half-flirting with them.

Ok, first, I can't believe someone downrated this question.
Second, you need to see someone to help you through the issues you have from when you were 15/16. These things don't just go away, these things nestle into your subconscious and are the driving force behind a lot of your decisions and unexplainable emotions. Please see someone, and don't subject yourself to a partner...

What's wrong with parenting that protects a child from all danger and that prevents frustrations by solving problems for the child?
The child cannot learn his or her own lessons, and the child will never be able to solve their own problems if you solve them all for him or her.
There are two types of parenting that are wrong - extremely tight parenting and extremely loose parenting. You need to find a middle ground, you need to set your child up to be independent. That is what you are there for, for their whole lives, is...

When I straighten my hair, it takes me forever. I have thick and wavy hair. The last time I did, it took an hour and a half. I straighten sections at a time. Is there a better way to straighten hair without taking forever an still having it look good?
Same - I stopped straightening it. Don't blow dry it and it will dry neat enough, then chuck it up in loose pony tails or something. That's what I do. I also don't wash it too often, it helps keep it neat-looking (and its really good for your hair to soak the natural oils in your head).
And funnily enough, since doing this, I have had more attempts at clubs and pubs and people...

My male dog can be surrounded by 20 female dogs and 1 male dog and he would rather go after the male, even if a female is in heat. this is not only sometimes, its every time hes around dogs. I know dogs are not homosexual, but why does he do that?
Well he has to prove to the female on heat that he is the dominant dog, of course he's going to go for the male dog. Humping the male dog is a sign of dominance, of ownership.
If he hasn't got balls, then he doesn't care about the female dogs at all - his brain is just saying 'dominate the male dog'. He doesn't know he's supposed to mate with a female dog...

Yes, but each guy has different taste anyway.
Also, the decent guys see good looks as a bonus, not a necessity. It should be low down on the priority list. And if you want a long, long relationship, you'll need a guy who thinks like this because you don't want them loosing interest as you get older.

You won't hurt them, you will inform them and they will be able to help you. You are only hurting yourself. If you can't stop, you need help. If you a school age, there should be a free counselor at your school, talk to him/her.
You've gotta get that idea out of your head though, it will hurt them more if you continue to do this without telling them.

Yeah, it gets better. You need to let that feeling pass, cry if you need to. Crying is good for you. There is a grieving process and you need to let yourself ride it. Eventually you will be able to accept that what has happened has happened, it may have changed you but it doesn't need to change your life.

You need to sit still and ignore EVERYTHING, every thought that comes into your head you need to push out. It's best to start by staring at something, like a candle. But don't think about the candle. It's kind of hard to close your eyes and meditate, because your brain goes nuts when your eyes close. But you will get there if you teach yourself to think of nothing.

I think of it this way - I need a brain to be conscious. A brain is physical. A 'soul' or a 'spirit' or whatever, exists beyond the brain, but you can only experience it when you have a brain. When you die, and you lose your consciousness, you are forever unconscious while your 'soul' goes and floats away. So there's no point worrying about it, because if you...

Why do people pity people when they do? I don't think pitying others helps them at all. Do you?
To an extent. If someone is upset, they need the validation that they are upset for the right reasons. Honest pity gives this validation, and the upset person can go about fixing their problem.

Well think about it - the egg is in prime position between the middle and the end of the month, it's fully exited the ovaries and fallopian tubes and is nestled quite comfortably amongst blood and mucus, which is more than ready to be turned into a placenta. It takes up to 8 hours for the sperm to reach the egg, depending on how healthy the sperm is. They may all die before they get to the...

The economy is bad, I have a lot of credit card debt & my wages are being cut. I need a 2nd job. I have a moral dilemma. I am considering stripping in Vegas. I would have to lie to my friends in family in order to do so. Any thoughts?
It's good money, but you sell your pride and your self-confidence and your sense of self, it's not worth the material gain.
I'd do everything I could to find a job where I am. It's just not worth it. And then, once you've paid your debts, your only skill is being a stripper. What're you gonna do then? Not just that, but the scene itself may change you,...

I just got an iPod shuffle from Walmart as a gift 10 days ago. The people I received the gift from lost the actual receipt, as well as the gift receipt. Is it still possible to return it, even if I get a store credit for it?
I have an awesome idea - go ask them.
If you get a yes on here, you'll be in Walmart.
If you get a no on here, your best bet is to double check, so you will be in Walmart anyway.
Either way, you will have to go to Walmart.

Whatever you do, don't be embarrassed that you think about it. You will just end up resenting yourself. First you need to accept who you are, if you are bisexual then you need to acknowledge that and embrace it, don't try to reject it.
Another thing you could do is attend a few gay clubs; bisexual people do go to gay clubs/bars. This may give you a better idea about it, a...

It's made from her body, but she can die and the baby can survive, in a car accident for example. The baby is not a part of her body because it can be taken out and live independently.
In the first few months though, before it's fully developed, it is a half part of her body and her partners body, and half its own person.

Does Christmas contribute to deforestation?
Lmao, what a funny question!
No, because farmers grow Christmas trees to be cut down every year, they are replaced every year. Just like pine plantations - hundreds of kilometers squared just for growing pine and then cutting it down.
Tree farms are different to deforestation because they are replaced every time they are cut down.

'Put on' to me means more 'chuck something on, don't care what it is'
'Dress' means more 'care about what I am in and plan it'
'Wear' is a doing word, so it isn't a describing word and is very different to the previous two, to me. Means more, 'to wear; to change your disposition entirely to be in a certain outfit'.

You say you had unprotected sex on the 8th and 11th, that's three days. If you took the morning after pill on the 9th or 10th, and had unprotected sex again, you've got a high chance of being pregnant.
And, the morning after pill is only safe and/or works once every 6-8 months. It's ineffective if you take...

About how much would you say it costs to raise one 8 year old child for a year?
First add the school (lets say somewhere between $100-500 in a year, to make it easy - I have no idea what school costs where you are).
Then, divide your bills by the amount of people in your house, and add that much on to your list (for example, if your bill is $500 and you have 5 people living in your house, you can say that each person uses $100 per week/month, so you can add on another...

You're only getting nasty because you equate this person to an 'object'.
If you stepped back for a second and looked at it from their point of view, maybe think to yourself 'I love this person I want them to be happy and if they are not happy with me then I will let go', then you'd be able to let go.

Answer to:
My cat loves to drag his water bowl around the house, usually towards where I sleep. He's done this for about a year and i've even tried to change the type of water dish. I change the water every day, but most of the water gets dumped
So buy a concrete water bowl. Or ceramic.
The cat does have a threshold of strength, you know. Couldn't possibly be too hard to find a bowl it can't move. Use a dish, a salad bowl, anything ceramic and big, and FILL it with water. A MASSIVE, heavy dish filled with water is bound to stop it from moving the thing.

No, that'll just make it worse in the long run.

And usually, lies involve more lies to justify those lies. The more lies you tell, the more deceitful you are being.

Yes, it depends which response you get, which would really depend on the situation. You go red when you get embarrassed because your blood starts pumping really fast. If your heart rate starts going fast enough, yeah, you could definitely pass out, due to the amount of oxygen getting to your brain.

Is it weird if a 30 year old male has a real issue with being jealous that womens restrooms usually have doors and privacy and mens restrooms dont? Guys do you care if you have to pee in front of others, does this anger you?
Jealous, yeah, that's weird. Annoyed, eh, still a tad weird.
And I have asked SO many guys about this, none of them care. At all, not even a smidgen.
Use the toilets if you care so much.
No one is looking at you. The whole.. 'code' of the mens toilet is that no one looks at each other under any circumstance.

My gf is embarrassed to go eat with me at a christmas feed the needy place. what can i do to convince her to go with me.
Tell her how much it would mean to you. That's really the only thing you can do.
You can gauge her compassion that way. Does her pride mean more to her than your feelings? Because that is not, I assume, what you want. If you are going to the feed the needy place in the first place, you are an open compassionate person, who puts other people before your own pride. Do you really want...

At least he wasn't in there with them. And you can always change the sheets.
I wouldn't be too picky about it, I can tell you that although you may think this is a big deal, most people would think it isn't. It's a friendly, compassionate thing to do to offer up your bed. Your boyfriend is a good person, he...

I'm pretty sure the whole street has to agree to a tree being chopped down, and even then, the council has to let it happen.
If it's not structurally damaging, and it's not about to fall over if a massive gust of wind comes along, you can probably keep it.
If it's going to fall over, you're better to get rid of it. The eagles will find another home, they are smart...

I said to my boyfriend that my boobs were small, he answered me by saying.. so? Is this mean? or just saying that to him it's not important?
If they are small, and you point that out, it's not like he's going to say 'Nah Babe, they are the biggest I've ever seen!', that's a lie and you both know it.
So, 'so' is just his way of saying 'If I don't care, if I am happy, why do you care?'.

I'm going to see my bf after 4 months apart. I'm hoping for an engagement ring, but I don't he's going to ask me. He tells me that he is going to ask me sometime. Ill be with him 4 a month b4 leaving again. Is it wrong to be sad if he doesn't ask me?
Firstly, yes, it would be wrong to expect him to want to marry you, and even more wrong to be sad about the fact that he didn't. First he would be confused as hell as to why you were upset, and then you would then guilt him into engagement and that's a seriously selfish thing to do.
Secondly, why don't you ask him? Make him feel special?

The Milky Way, right, is a massive flat disk of densely packed stars and solar systems.
Above and below that flat disk is a 'sphere' of much less densely packed stars. If you can imagine, a clear bouncy ball. The middle of it, the bit where the two halves have been joined, the clear plastic is white and easy to see. The rest is transparent. The joined bit is the Milky Way.

We have an 8 yr old male boxer and a 7 month old female boxer (They're boxers #8 and #9 in many years of pairs of boxers!). Our 7 month old straddles and sits very comfortably on the shoulders of the 8 yr. old. Sometimes she sits on him side saddle. Why?
It's a dominance thing. Dogs will sit on top of, or try to get above, other dogs to place themselves at a higher rank in the pack. The higher the dog is, the more dominant it is.
This is why it is not recommended to put an old dog and a new dog together - naturally, the new, younger dog, who has been accepted by the pack leaders (you) takes the place in the pack that the old dog had.

Leave the water around.
The dog needs to learn that it should eat when it is given food.
Put the food down for 20 minutes in the morning. If the dog doesn't touch it, it doesn't eat. 20 minutes again in the afternoon. If it doesn't touch it again, it goes hungry again.

You grow old because of biological changes in your body.

What effect would a sudden increase in the price of gold have on inerest rates?
Close to none for the average person. Money is not backed by gold anymore, it is priced by how much other money is in circulation. So if gold goes up in price, but there is still the same amount of money in circulation, nothing happens to your interest rate.
If you had a huge nugget of gold, though, you could sell it for a bucketload.

No, the black and white in the yin and yang are symbols of complete opposites.

I doubt it very much. Both partners would need to have a serious fetish.

How do you deal with rejection?
What, at a pub? Move on.
Otherwise... Go through your grieving period, don't deny yourself any emotions (even anger), work through your emotions and eventually come to an agreement with yourself that says you are going to focus on the future, on bigger, better and brighter days.

My girlfriend is a little younger than I am, and I always feel a little weird hanging out with her and her friends (but not her alone) because I feel I can't relate to how "immature" they are. Do you have any suggestions for how I can get over this?
Isn't that kind of an indication that maybe she isn't mature enough for you either? I mean, she may seem mature alone, but that's how so many parents get it wrong in teenage hood - is they think their kids are more mature than they actually are, and treat them more maturely, and give them too many freedoms -- especially girls.
Why not just be her friend for a while and see how...

Where do the most beautiful women come from?
A 'beautiful woman' is subject to the society that you are from. Western people like darker, more 'mysterious' women because they are told by their culture and media that tans are hot, that curves are hot, and that these women are rare and could only be interested in 'better' men, and that you are a bigger man if you manage to score one. And I would never ever become religious for someone else.

Women: would you marry a man who smoked cigarettes religiously? Men: Would you marry a woman who smoked religiously as well? Why or why not?
Lol, religiously??? It's an addiction, it needs to regularly be met, it's not a religion. It's not like I think it's doing me any good. I'm not delusional, so it's not a religion. Teeehehehehee....
The answer is 'yes'. And the reason is because I am a smoker also and don't care.

What would you think of a person who--while getting mugged by four thugs as he/she was sitting at a redlight--reaches into his/her glove compartment, pulls out a sawn-off and blows all of the assailants' heads off? Is it justified?
In a court of law, yes. Because it was self-defense, his case would be based on the fact that he was scared for his life, and thus had a reactionary response.
His fight or flight syndrome says 'fight', not 'flight' basically.

I'm not too sure if they actually mean that they don't feel girly and therefore are homosexual.

In some women, that could mean that more testosterone is released (yes, women do release testosterone), or at least...

Tell him to back off. You need a grieving time, especially if you still feel for him. His smothering you is only going to make it worse and worse until you have a mental break down.

I've been on birth control for two months now in a row(skipped my period, because i was going away), and i am in the middle of my second month now and am having some cramping and brownish vaginal discharge, what could be wrong?
You shouldn't start skipping your period until a few periods into being on the pill.
Stop taking it now and let your period go, and do that for two or three more months, then you can start skipping them. You need to let your body adjust first.
Don't ever skip it more than once, it can have terrible side effects when you get off the pill.

What are the three contributing factors to the development of the sociological field?

Sociology is so vast that you could say almost everything has effected the development of sociology. It depends on the bias of your teacher.
I'd try your notes.
Answer to:

Why are you even studying sociology if you don't want to figure this out for yourself?

So to observe society is to learn about human nature within society, and humans are what makes up society.
Basically, it's pretty damn important, don't you think?

People don't make fun of nerds anymore because when your computer fails and you can't get onto MySpace, you're gonna need to call the nerd.
Nerds are like, the best, they are the ones that give us MySpace and Facebook and Google and Microsoft and iPods.

I just found out that my mom's been cheating on my dad by reading her myspace messages. I don't know what to do. Help me?
I wanted to just say this, to give a different perspective and a possible reason -
First, your parents might actually be OK with this. A lot of people aren't monogamous and have struck deals between each other. This isn't to say they don't love each other, it is to say that they are somewhat 'adventurous'.
Second, you may be jumping to conclusions. If these are...

Is Santa God? or the Son of God?
Santa = Saint Nicholas, who used to give presents to poor children on Christmas day a long long time ago.
They left their shoes out on their porches and he would fill them.
He wore green, and he was thin. This was the image of 'Santa' for centuries/decades, don't know how long.
Then Coca Cola made the fat Santa in the early 1900's as a sales gimmick.

One of my friends' farts stank.
She had gall stones and had to get serious surgery before they got too big and even worse stuff happened.

I don't think your funny.

If you know when it is happening, remove yourself from the situation, calm yourself down, realise the rationality of your mood, understand the reasons for your irrationality, and get on with it.
Honestly, it is not hard. It feels hard the first few times, but it is simply a matter of re-wiring your brain to get over it quicker.

Answer to:
When did humans go from the concept of just pro-creation to love?
Some animals mate for life. Love birds are an example, along with a few desert rodents I've seen on Discovery. Taking into account that a woman stays pregnant for nine months, that a baby is totally useless for like 3 years, and that we once needed to hunt for food and water and look after babies, I assume that we, too, have pretty much always been monogamous or close to monogamous...

Everyone does, unconsciously.
But yeah, I can notice it sometimes. I'm really good at guessing what the people I know well are feeling. nine times out of ten I can tell if someone is lying or not, and I can lie well. And I'm in the top percentile for picking a fake smile, according to internet tests. But I can't 'speak' body language, that would be hard I reckon....

No one can 'see' the future, or even have a gut feeling about it. If you love him/her, if you enjoy his/her company, if they make you feel good about yourself, that's all you need and you should take it as it comes. If it works, it works, if it doesn't, it doesn't. But if it is working now, there's no point breaking it. Don't fix what ain't broken.

What do you know about the idea that people with different blood types should have different diets? Do you know what your diet should be like? Where can I find out for free?
We've survived this long and evolved this far, and I'm pretty sure the founding human beings weren't eating for their blood type. I wouldn't stress too much -- there's healthy, and then there's nuts.

Are you a guy ,and can't figure what attraction is anymore because your attracted to 98% percent of the women yet with respect you stopped looking, unless your talking to them? When I was younger Id look them up,and down like an unashamed puppy dog.
Because you were young, didn't you listen in personal development class? Hormones, becoming a man, all those sorts of things.
It's just what happens when you mature, you learn to control those urges to look people up and down, if not because you're maturing, then because it's plain rude. Consider yourself one the lucky ones, one of the ones who will statistically live...

How long does a person have to be separated before they can file for divorce, in India? Or can they file right away? What would prevent a person from filing
Again, there is no maximum time limit on how long you can stay separated for. People stay separated their whole lives because ex-spouses don't sign papers.
You can file for divorce at any time. She needs to sign the papers for it to be official though.
What would prevent a person signing them? Divorces are stressful and costly. Settlements are a pain in the arse. If she's got no...
Answer to:
To communicate information about ourselves to others, do we use sign vehicles, the social setting, our appearance, and our manner?
Um, well, look at it this way. The only way you know that a woman is a beggar is because she is in an alley (social setting) with dirt on her face (appearance), and is begging you (manner). But you might notice that she has desires because she has a pretty stone tied around her neck with a shoelace (sign vehicle).
A sign vehicle deliberately communicates something, appearance is accidental...

Ticks and what?
OH, ticks and LICE, right, that took me ages.
Why the hell has your dog got ticks AND lice anyway? Do you keep it in a pig pen? Ticks are bad, they bury their heads under your dogs skin and when you yank a...

What do guys find sexy about girls? in there looks and things they do?
Stereotypically -- you don't need to ask anyone this, you only need to buy a teen beauty magazine and watch MTV for half an hour.
In real life - you won't find an answer here; beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It really isn't just a saying, when you love someone they are ten times better looking than if you dislike them.

You know, I think that technically, you need to declare it a business and claim tax on it. Or open your stall in a market where you have rented the space. But I don't think they'd enforce that law on you.

I m a husband want quick divorce from my wife but she is not ready what can i do
Buddy, if she chooses to never sign the papers, you are in limbo for the rest of your life. There's no such thing as not ready for divorce, she either signs the papers or she doesn't. There's no legal maximum amount of time you can spend 'separated'. Just as long as one party won't sign the papers.
Answer to:
Why do i like my borfriend to put his hand under my arm...why does it make me feel good?
Biologically and/or socially... I'd say because it's a protective position. It's a symbol of his looking out for your back, and his 'ownership' (I use that term loosely) of you. And that in turn means you are protected, which makes you feel good because he is the one protecting you, and you like him a lot.

Chipboard? I don't know if that would be too dark though. You could leave the top open with chicken wire and put the vertical walls up with chipboard, that would work because generally, the wind wouldn't be able to get in, it would only nip the top. As long as the chickens have shelter, they should be alright during really strong winds.

Solar. Nuclear isn't actually clean, because it produces nuclear waste which gets buried in the ground, which is bad. And extremely diverse - it could potentially be sewn into fabric and stored in say, a belt, to power your iPod. Or on the top of trains to power...

We communicate verbally. That's the main difference.

With verbal communication and evolution into society comes social lubricants, one of which is comedy, which we...

ALWAYS start with 'This is what I want the outcome to be' (aka, I just want to be happy with you/I want to feel secure with you/whatever the outcome might be), then you are both on the same page, and TRUST ME this puts the chances...

Do you believe in Angels and do they walk amoung us?
No. I believe that when you die, your body becomes the grass, the and Antelope EAT the grass, and so we are connected int he great circle of life.
You ARE, at the molecular level, a bunch of atoms getting ready to feed a different bunch of atoms residing in the dirt somewhere, so those atoms can feed a pig, or a horse, and you better believe it.
Of course, it is VERY pretty and happy and...

Insult, promotion... Maybe you love your job so much that you do a WICKED job and he wants to promote you. You're weird if you think that's an insult. Higher pay, lower hours, more power. Why, how is that an insult.

What the heck, are you looking for a number? They don't even count the dead bodies of Muslims in war zones, how the heck are they gonna find a number of Muslims converted to Christianity? Seriously, if it was YOUR job to find this figure out, how would you do it? And why?
And as an educated guess, I'd say not many. The whole 'you're allowed to be as gluttonous as you...

Anyone else find this ironic?
1 - It's not ironic, it's what happened.
2 - It bugs me no end that people are so goddamn selfish. 'The (national) Government' is busy doing a lot of other things, hence state governments. It bugs me that these people sit and say 'I'm not voting because it won't help ME'. How about the occupation in Iraq? How about the relations with other countries?...

I'm having a complete block, but what is the term that refers to when something is bad for one to one gender to do but is fine for the other?
Yeah, it's double standards. That's exactly what it's called.
Double in that, if a boy is with a lot of girls he is considered a legend by his peers (with positive connotations), whereas if a girl is with a lot of boys she is considered a 'slut' or worse by her peers (with negative connotations).
But I gotta say, that's changing. While girls are still...

What was the highest mountain peak before Mt. Everest was discovered?
'was discovered' lol?! It's in Asia, one of the first places to be civilized...
It's a MASSIVE mountain, it's impossible to miss for about a 100km (probably more I have no idea) radius of the damn thing.
I don't think it was ever discovered, just conquered. It was just hangin' around until then. But hey, I could be totally wrong too.

Why should you never look directly at the sun? (I tried it, and after a few seconds, I was able to look past the glare, and see the disk...my eyes are fine)
It burns your retinas and eventually makes you blind.
I wouldn't go staring at the sun for extended periods of time as an experiment. Do it a few times, in short bursts, across the span of your lifetime, for sure, but don't make it a habit.

Are we still Friends, even if I dont agree with your political choice?
Depends how far off of my views yours were.
If you were a conservative republican, or a Nazi communist, then no, we are not friends.
If you are a socialist democratic, then yes, we are friends.
Mainly because these two views entail entirely different life morals and choices. I would not agree with your choice to privatise hospitals because it is a service for the public, paid for by...

Why would anyone believe that religious education in public schools is right?
Because a balanced, informed decision is a valid one. If you're offered all the different takes on 'god', then you can decide for yourself.
I am against organised religion by the way. Totally against it. But that doesn't mean other people should be too. They should be able to decide for themselves.

Why deny it? Why not come to terms with it before it happens so that it will be easier to deal with it when it does happen? Death is a part if life, you can't just ignore it.

Although I'm a girl, I LOVE the smell of Axe Kilo and I use it for bodywash but I ran out of Pantene one night and used Axe as shampoo... I got BETTER results with the Axe than the Pantene! Silky, shiny, smooth and friz proof, anyone else try it?
They test pantene on animals and it's really bad for your hair. I got this almost hour long rant from this hairdresser one time about it. The hairdresser is a good one, reputable. But yeah, I stopped using pantene or any associated products after I found that out.

Rain is the main source of water? True or False
Rain is stored in clouds, which are huge, dense masses of water molecules. It gets there because it evaporates off the earth, into the clouds. It then gets rained back down again, and evaporated again, and stored again, and rained back down again...
Water doesn't just appear in the sky is what I'm trying to say here. Rain isn't a source of water, it's one of the stages...

Yes, all natural tobacco is less harmful than refined tobacco.
Athrael - Of course all smoke is bad. The question is is which is worse.
Pot is the least harmful (contains the least amount of tar), then tobacco, and then 'tailor' cigarette tobacco (which is most harmful because of additives).

My BF's mom has a mental disorder and she says some very cruel things to him, and when he calls me crying/very upset... I never seem to be able to come up with something good enough to say. HELP!
It depends on what disorder it is.
I know that for Bipolar, you really do need to ignore what they say if they are on a low because nothing you say will cheer them up/stop them from being hyper. And that is something he has to figure out for himself.
I only mentioned that because it's a pretty popular mental disorder, which one does your bf's mom have?

I reckon every single person to ever exist past an age where they can realise that boredom comes with rainy days has asked themselves this question and ended up wasting the day away trying to come up with something to do.

Do you believe that abstinence is the "right" thing to do?
We're built to reproduce.
That's also what we are born to do.
We are an extremely advanced version of an amoeba, an amoeba that reproduces. Difference is, the amoeba doesn't consciously know it's reproducing. We wouldn't either, if we were still amoebas.
But we're advanced, which means we are conscious of our reproduction. How does that make a lick of...

I would like yo know the definition of sexual needs and behavior and examples of it for a study im doing for my class.
Definition? Look it up in your notes, buddy. It's the only place that will tell you the definition, and it'll give you examples.
Definitions for everything are different depending on the subject you study.
I seriously recommend just reading the stuff you've been given.
Or, what subject is it? Then people can tell you what the definition is in relation to your subject.

It takes a week man. A solitary week for any sort of 'I want a joint/bong' feeling to go away.
For that week, it's only willpower. There's no THC patch or anything so you're by yourself.
Don't see the problem anyway. Well, I suppose, if weed effects you to the point where you can't function around friends and family then it's not for you, I suppose....

What is freedom? It seems like an awfully vague term, the way it used sometimes. What precisely do you mean when you say 'freedom'?
I don't say it, there's no such thing.
Consciousness itself stops us from being truly 'free'. It regulates us, according to social, cultural and moral standards and expectations.
An amoeba is free because it can't think, it can't imagine or comprehend. But even then, it's stuck on whatever planet it originated on. Is that even 'free'?

I bought a house that has speakers installed in the wall. The outlet next to my tv that has black/red connection, but there are FOUR connections. It is labeled LEFT and RIGHT, but there are RED and BLACK for each one. How do I hook up my RCA red/white?
You want to put red and black wires into red and white holes? Am I right? Red and white = sound, yellow = picture. So I'm guessing I'm right.
Red goes in red, black goes in white. (although it doesn't really make a difference with sound anyway, it will still pick it up if you put it in the opposite way).

I was conceived, and my Mum didn't have half of one of her ovaries, and the other one had it's tube tied.
So it's possible. She had a lot of miscarriages though.

Why are the work toilets, always more disgusting than the local pub?
Because they have to put effort into keeping patronage at a pub. They don't have to put effort into keeping employees at a job, you'll rock up whether the toilets are nice or not.
