It's a practice to induce altered states of mind. One *CAN* invoke gods or spirits or anything else in meditation. I understand that god is the product of that ever fertile human imagination, like gnomes, fairies, dragons, etc. What I don't understand is that though most educated people have understood that gnomes and fairies are fun but imaginary, so many still cling to gods.

School officially bans christmas cookies, cakes, candy bars, and soda at thier holiday parties. Shouldnt the parents decide this? No. The super has to have certain powers to do his/her job. If those powers are overstepped then s/he can be disciplined or removed. If the school board decides that the scope of those powers need to be altered, that's where parents (and voters) can come in. But not every single decision can be up to a vote. Nothing would ever get done.
