Only if you don't vote for him because of his race.
Not voting for him because you disagree with his policies, values, directions he wants to take the US, foreign policy, stance on military, etc is perfectly reasonable regardless of that color / race he is.

Answer to:
What exactly did Romney mean when he said that we should "let the foreclosure process run its course"? Is that what America is all about?
It means, among other things:
1. That many more people will get kicked out of their homes.
This will produce a glut of very cheap real estate.
2. Banks will absorb that many more bad loans.
This will reduce the share prices of many banks, perhaps even the entire sector.
3. Investment professionals with $100's of millions (Romney himself being one) will get some fantastic deals and make huge...

Why's it OK for Obama to form a group called "African Americans for Obama", but not OK for Romney to form a group for white people?
I don't think it is ok, actually.
I wouldn't have anything against a grass roots site like that but not one launched by the Obama campaign.
However, given US history and current social imbalances between white and black in the US, a Whites for Romney would be worse. There simply isn't racial symmetry in the US today. It's better than it has been but it ain't there yet.

Cheaper labor elsewhere and Americans are happy to buy cheap imports from China.
Also, unlike Germany, for instance which has even higher labor costs that the US, US industry and government didn't invest in quality for so long it was all to easy for price to be the only consideration.

According to polls Americans want Obama care repealed why is the administration ignoring the people and wasting $20 million on a PR blitz?
Because the opposition, in large part, was created by a multi-million dollar campaign to create it. One of the main planks in Obama's platform, on which he was elected, was some sort of public health.
Another reason is that one of the jobs of a leader is to lead and not to bend to every whim.

What "evolutionary" changes do you see the human race undergoing in the next 1000 years?
Unless there are dramatic changes to the environment some people live in, and very near total genetic separation between them on others exists (no screwing around) - none.
If, however, some humans went off to live in space stations or other planets where gravity, for example, is very different some people could evolve into a separate species. Low grav people could live much longer, perhaps...

My choirmaster taught us a lot about the music, historical context in which it was written as well as the liturgical relevance. So I got a fairly long and deep education...

I'm honored that you took a personal comment I made to another user into which you butted your opinions and made it into it's own question. I never dreamed I had such influence in your thinking.
To answer your question, I take it as one of the kinder things a religious person say to me regarding being an atheist. Yes - I've heard it here on AB and "in the real world". Whether I agree with them...

At first it gave me a lot - independence, the feeling that my contribution is worth money, etc.

And for that there is nothing like being self employed.

Who is your favorite theologian or religious writer/preacher of the last 20 years? Why?
He doesn't make the last 20 years - he died in 1955 I think - but mine is Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
There are lots of reasons I like him but his line from the book, The Phenomenon of Man sums it up, "In us, the evolution of the universe towards spirit becomes conscious."

Why is America considered the land of the free?
Marketing the myth.
With more people in prison by percent of population and hard numbers than any other country on the planet - about 75% of whom are there for non-violent, victim-less crimes it's tough to make the "land of the free" claim.
With various religious groups trying to force their beliefs on everyone via public school curricula and laws that prevent subsets of society from...

Are the rich proof the system works as much as the poor are it doesn't so is the system a variable as much as the individual?
"The system" is there to get resources where they need to be. It allows people in the city to sell non-food producing skills and through many middle men, get food they need in return - as just one example.
The system allows wealth to be amassed and some are good at that.
The system doesn't guarantee success nor does it provide any safety net for those who are not successful.

I have nothing against it. If finances allow, raising the kids and managing the home are perfectly good things to do.
However I will make this observation. When working outside the home you have to satisfy the boss - s/he gets to tell you what to do (within reason), make you achieve demonstrable results etc. You are also at the whim of economic factors outside your control - you can get fired...

Religion is based on a belief - usually involving god(s) and an afterlife.

Meditation in and of itself has nothing to do with gods. It's a practice to induce altered states of mind.
One *CAN* invoke gods or spirits or anything else in meditation.
Atheism is nothing more or less than the absence of a belief in gods - so as long as meditation doesn't involve them there is no conflict.

I'm so sick o this question..
He didn't.
There is no such thing as sin to a free thinking person.
Jesus - at least insofar as the supernatural being many believe in - is a myth.
There is no heaven nor hell other than what we make for ourselves right here on earth.

The same applies for every president running for re-election.
And just an unsolicited IMHO - You show yourself as rather dim and/or immature by saying the incumbent president is "parading as a potential presidential candidate". He IS the Democratic candidate.

I keep hearing Obama say that his pastors views are not his views..But wasn't his pastor on his advisory committee for his campaign until Obama recently fired him when this got public? Why would he be on his committee if Obama didn't agree with his views?
Some people are interested in views that don't mirror their own. By exposing themselves to such views they may learn something, be forced to rethink a position, or gain any number of positive things.
Those who silence opposing views end up lying to launch wars and don't let even those tree huggers at the CIA tell them otherwise.

Attention Maths genius/expert/scientist! I need help with a question, please. I did say please after all.
I think that since the scenario is entirely made up - imagination will be of much more use than math in finding a solution.
Since there is no fact based foundation to the problem - and it may even be impossible in our universe - even if the solution is expressed as an equations it will be entirely made up.
Answer to:
Can mathematics be used to solve every scientific problem?
How does one solve a scientific problem?

Math can't solve either of those. I don't think it can solve any scientific problems.

WHY!? are the current list of illegal drugs, illegal? Is this the land of freedom? Shouldn't drugs be allowed?
At first glance it's ridiculous for drugs to be illegal - along with prostitution and gambling. After all - all the bans accomplish is to keep organised crime very well funded.
But the other side of the coin is the criminal justice system - much of it private, for profit these days. The US has more people in prison - but by percent and numerically, than any country on earth. About 75% of them...

As Twenge points out, millennials didn't get this way by accident. They were raised in a world where grownups did everything possible to shield them from adversity and disappointment. Everyone got a trophy just for showing up; even red marker pens were banned from some schools because the color was considered too harsh and judgmental.
The catch: Having been told...

I don't know the context or her choice of words.
I understand that people can put themselves in harm's way - like walking alone in the bad part of town with $100 bills sticking out of every pocket, for instance. It doesn't absolve the thief of any guilt - but a person can be stupid for foolishly doing that.
Rape isn't exempt from that.

Do we have to be tolerant enough to accept dangerous and harmful idiocy, idiologies ?
"We" don't have to tolerate anything. For instance, I don't tolerate people behaving dangerously toward my kids. When, rarely it happens, I do my best to take action that will remedy the situation.
The trick is not to start getting a chip on the old shoulder.
Also, not to tolerate something means you WILL do something about it. So what will you do about those ideologies you feel are harmful?...

Morality is nothing but a grand sounding word for emotional aesthetics. We all have feelings that we like and some we dislike.

Do you believe in the concept of high alimony to keep people "in the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed"?
Sure.
Marriage is a partnership - a joining of two lives into one. Therefore there is no "someone else's money" in that context. That's pretty much what makes it different from just shacking up.
If you don't want someone to get accustomed to the things you give him/her don't marry below your economic class or get a pre-nup.

No.
But it is unworkable.
It has two key failings:
1. As observed elsewhere, it takes away people's incentive to more than the minimum - and often not even that much.
2. It requires central control of the economy. This puts a vast amount of power in the hands of a small number of people. Concentrations of power will always attract the power hungry - so that even if the system starts with...

Also, it's pretty corrupt. You can usually bribe your way out of traffic infractions and sometimes cases of major bribery for more serious crimes come to light - suggesting others are gotten away with.

So if or when Israel attacks Iran's nuclear facilities where does that leave the rest of the world? Who jumps in first with what?
I hope - probably in vain - that Israel doesn't do it - and if they do that they get no support from the US or EU. It's dangerous and, IMHO, illegal.
It will make anyone even perceived to support Israel and the attack a target with a nice fresh coat of paint.
It will justify every 2 bit terrorist recruitment effort against any / all of the targets above.
It will justify Iran's "need" to...

There is no reason gods can't exist. But the same applies to Santa, butt probing space aliens, fairies, gnomes, a celestial teapot orbiting between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter... or absolutely anything a person can imagine.
That's why it's much more useful to ask for a single reason tho think any one of those things is more likely to exist than any other. Objective evidence, for instance,...

Can socialism be a good thing???
Whether you agree with the lofty goals or not, Socialism is doomed to fail on purely practical points
1. Central control of production and distribution on any national scale means a huge concentration of power in the hands of a very few people. This is never good - even if the first bunch are paragons of virtue, power always attracts the power hungry.
2. Central control means market planning...

That's complicated.
I guess you have to try and come to an agreement with her parents. Obviously the kids are to young to really be parents so figuring out who will take that on will be key. It sounds like maybe her parents want to. The you'll have to figure out child support, custody, visitation, etc.

Why should a man have to pay child support if the woman was the one who wanted a divorce? Why should he pay for the %&*#'s child when she could have stuck together with him?
Divorce and child support are two different things.
1. If you chose to put your dick in there you run the risk of having to pay for the child for at least 18 years. Plain and simple. There is no exception.
2. A married couple can get a divorce pretty easily these days. In most states either of them can chose that option. I can think of several reasons why a woman might want to leave a man...

If a friend mentions suicide I do care.
If a random stranger on the net asks, pretty much by definition, I don't very much.
I can offer some generic but reasonable advice - maybe the same advice I might give my friend - and that might include professional help. Pros have experience. They might recognize an easily treatable problem.

Mitt Romney recently said he made money from speaking fees, but not very much. Over 300.000, not much? Really Mitt?
Speaking fees for such people can go to $100k per lecture.
Also - I think his net worth is about $300mil.
So by those standards - it wasn't much.
But - you could say that anyone for who, $300k isn't much is the difference between "us" and "them". That would pay off my mortgage, all other debt and school for my two kids.

How about Susan Brownmiller?

Dworkin's writing certainly looked that way. Perhaps she just hated maleness - her book Intercourse talked about any male-female sex as rape.

Theists don't need the Bible and all the trappings, only Christian ones do. A person can believe in god without that.

None.
It would need to ignite. Airplanes dump fuel all the time.
If it did ignite it would depend on a lot of other factors:
1. For it to be released "all at once"the airplane around the fuel would need to vanish instantly. Obviously this isn't likely so we would need to know the rate at which the fuel leaked from the plane.
2. How fast the plane was moving (in order to calculate the volume...

Answer to:
Should children be allowed to read the Bible on their own with no adult guidance?
Personally, I think religion should be treated like sex. It's fine. It's for adults. Curious kids should be given age appropriate information.
But we try to keep them from actually doing it for as long as possible - after 18 preferably and no harm in waiting longer.
We don't invite kids to participate in with us.
We don't assume any other adults are interested in that aspect of our lives.

A lesbian friend and I came up with the term "juicy butt" some 20 years ago or more. Perhaps we weren't entirely original - but we did come up with it in direct response to one such butt before us at that time.
I still use it today to describe the very crème de la crème of ladies butts.

Why the keys in a keyboard are arranged like this. How they find that it is easy to type when keys are placed like that
The QWERTY keyboard was actually designed to be inconvenient.
When typewriters were still high tech, fast typists would often jam the keys together. So the Remington Co. came up with this layout to slow down those fast fingers.
It became the standard and simply no new keyboard ever caught on.
There are others - the Dvorak, for instance which is designed to be more efficient.

Why are people who believe in one religion so close minded when it comes to another?
It depends a lot on the religion.
People who believe in one of the Abrahamic ones are taught that there is one god - theirs. Many of those people are taught to believe literally in this one god.
Therefore they cannot be open minded - their very religion prohibits it.
Many polytheistic religions don't have either requirement so it's much easier to be open to others.

The same way the Queen of Imagindom does?
But wait - I know at least three of them already. They stand on the street corner preaching away but nothing's happened to atheists or anyone else yet.
Well... except one of them who seems to make a bit to much wine... sometimes he spits when he talks and they all sorta smell really bad.

Does Is Not Take More Faith To Believe In Evolution Than It Does To Believe In A Creator?
We know chairs are made by people because we can go see people make chairs. We can make a few ourselves if we want.
We have never seen a god, much less seen one make a universe - or even an atom.
The comparison is invalid.
If you study how science works and then look at the mountains of evidence supporting evolution then no, it take far less faith to accept that.
To believe in a creator...

Can your job legally fire you if you will not allow your employeer to search your home, car, purse or personal computer?
Basically, yes.
They don't have the right to search anything. But, because of At Will Employment, you can be fired for any reason at all... or no reason.
The only exception to this is if you have a contract that states reasons for firing (and searches are not there) or if the employer has a written policy which states reasons for firing.

Is it not so much that old beliefs fade away as new concepts are accepted but that they are incorporated obscuring the line between them?
No.
Most of practical science has done away with the usefulness of preceding ideas for instance ( a very short list):
Germ theory did away with witches, Jews or anyone else magically attacking people and cattle.
Geology and later physics did away with any young earth notions.
Big Bang did away with Steady State.
Democracy did away with Monarchy
(More gradually) The Enlightenment did away...

Not sure what you mean by forced.
But women do tend to like to talk about things. And they tend to want to do that with guys they screw. Think of it as a trade off.
Like to bone girls? Gotta pay the piper and chit chat.
Vehemently against chitting? Well... there other ways to pay, like cash. Or... if you use the left hand it feels like someone else.

School officially bans christmas cookies, cakes, candy bars, and soda at thier holiday parties. Shouldnt the parents decide this?
No.
The super has to have certain powers to do his/her job. If those powers are overstepped then s/he can be disciplined or removed. If the school board decides that the scope of those powers need to be altered, that's where parents (and voters) can come in.
But not every single decision can be up to a vote. Nothing would ever get done.

Is it "homophobic" to tend toward self-preservation and keep away from a "lifestyle" in which 20% have expensive & deadly HIV?
I have to admit that I'm very surprised by that statistic.
However, it's not homophobic (why in quotes? Did you mean "not homophobic" or something else?) but it may suggest some issue of fear that's not particularly healthy.
It's fairly easy to have gay relationships and keep relatively safe.

Budweiser calls itself the "King of Beers" would you consider Budweiser to be the best beer out there? If not, what beer is better?
Bud is ... well I'll keep that to myself.
But it stole that motto from beer made in Budeovice, Czech republic called Budweiser in German and Budvar in Czech - The Beer of Kings.
It's not my favorite though. A good Pilzner is much better as is Platan and Krusovce.
Almost anything is better than the mass produced American beers.

I'm only aware of this due to AB.
I think he should do as he sees fit. If he wants to pray to the god(s) of his choice, fine. I would hope the media would let his private devotions stay private. Some have a lucky jock, others a fairygodfather.
It strikes me, though, that when one does something in public there are probably reasons other than face value - perhaps he's planning a political...

I don't think many atheists (in quotes maybe you mean not really atheists?) have any opinion of following Christ - since we don't believe in his divinity.
If anyone find wisdom worth learning, learn as you will - same as for Buddha, Dawkins, Cervantes, or anyone else you might find wisdom in.

Do you think God will note a sin on your sin record with the pretense
of Santa Claus with your children if you are a marked spirit?
OK. This question doesn't make much sense.
But - I think God is basically Santa for adults. As you observe, there is remarkable similarity between sin and Naughty & Nice. They both live "somewhere up there". They both have a bunch of non-human helpers. They both have magical powers.
And they are both often depicted as old, bearded white men.
