Answer to:
Should teachers be required to train in, and carry firearms to the classroom?
not required, because there are lots of people (including teachers) who just wouldn't be able to act under pressure. but they should have the option. I would consider even extending it to students who can otherwise legally carry within their jurisdiction (essentially just revoking any firearm bans on campuses- because criminals don't care about bans!)

What is wrong with NOT believing in god?
we're not talking about solutions to the world's problems, we're talking about imaginary friends.
the existence of the worlds problems show that an omnibenevolent, omniscient, and omnipotent god does not exist
Answer to:
What is wrong with NOT believing in god?
I don't have the solutions. We're not talking about the world's problems. We're talking about the worshiping of imaginary friends.
You claimed that your imaginary friend is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnibenevolent. I have shown that, with the state of the world, he clearly is not all three.
ergo, your god is indeed imaginary.

Warfare permits soldiers to kill their opponents. Gang members do likewise in turf wars. Both types of fighter claim they try to avoid killing innocent civilian bystanders. Legalities aside, what is the moral difference between them?
I wouldn't say any war grants permission, so much as causes necessitation.
That being said, gangs are very similar to governments in the sense that they protect their members. Morally speaking, when a government/gang declares war, the constituents of that government/gang are ok with it (at least to the point that they've surrendered part of their free-will (the right to not...

In the U.S. employment is voluntary on both sides- that is you have the right to quit whenever you want, and your employer has the right to fire you whenever they want. Unless you sign a contract stating otherwise.
that being said, an employer has the right to make whatever terms he or she wants, and you have the right to choose to not work there if you don't like their terms.

It seems to me this type of speech usually only breeds more hate and stirs up tension.
the problem with banning/prohibiting hate speech is that it's not always easy to define it
for example- in the netherlands, you can draw a cartoon depicting a muslim religious figure as a dog, and that is protected by freedom of speech. but it is a crime, punishable by law, to assert that the holocaust did not happen

125 seems a bit on the lighter side, but it's not just weight/height ratio that you should be concerned with.
if you're of good general health (can go up 3 flights of stairs without labored breathing, run a mile without stopping, lift 40 lbs above your head, etc) then don't worry what your weight is

it goes back to the days of cash-only. so that people running the register would HAVE to make change, thus opening the register, which would only open if there was a sale
so they couldn't just take the exact change, and chalk the item lost to theft
also, just use your debit card like a credit card; why would you carry cash, except to risk it getting lost/stolen?!

well, density is mass per unit volume
but if you graph mass on the x-axis, and volume on the y-axis; then find the slope, that's (y1-y2)/(x1-x2) or volume per unit mass
so assuming you graph mass on the y-axis, and volume on the x-axis that would make the slope equal to mass per unit volume, which is density...

Was your first kiss worth remembering? I was thinking about mine today, and I would rather not remember it.
yah, it was a special one
me and this girl, we were totally into each other, but too shy to admit it. we were just hanging out, bored, and one thing led to another and i decided "just go for it" and we made out a bit, but it never really went beyond that. that was 9 years ago; we're still good friends, and we keep in touch.

Does having a title of boyfriend/girlfriend scare you? My friend gets freaked out when there is a title to the relationship. Why would this freak out a person.
some people don't like to be pigeon-holed, because different people have different definitions of the responsibilities/privileges of a boyfriend
some people may think that implies a different level of exclusiveness than others, or it may mean you're ok with (expected to?) hug/hold hands/kiss/etc in public/without permission, or at a certain frequency
it's not necessarily a...

tweezers?
if that fails try wrapping a rubber band, or nylon thread around your finger, just below where the glass is REALLY TIGHT. if it hurts, then you know it's tight enough- that might help squeeze it out
if you're brave, take a sharp (surgically sharp) knife, and cut the wound bigger, so you can pluck it out with tweezers. pour plenty of rubbing alcohol on it to kill germs,...

I'm suppose to write a spoof on the famous soliloquy " To be or not to be, that is the question" Any ideas on what topic I can do So for example "To eat or not to eat, that is the question" Thanks!
here's a tip for spoofing poems/soliloquies/songs
write the whole thing out, and then replace it word by word, or line by line

Do you think God will intervene in mankind's problems if they get really big and bad?
If a god exists he/she/it is either not powerful enough to stop the evil's going on, or he doesn't see the evils going on, OR he just doesn't care about humans enough to change anything (i.e. he wants us to suffer)
so no, if god exists, he/she/it wont do anything about mankind's problems. that's up to us to figure out!

How do I cope with a clingy boyfriend?
Sit him down, and talk to him. Let him know you still like him (if you do, that is), and you still want to keep going out (exclusively, if you are), but you'd like some time to yourself, and your friends.
Assure him that you aren't seeing other guys (or tell him you are, whichever is the case), and then give him a hug.

Why is it when I tell people that I've been married since I was 16 that they think I was pregnant when I got married? In fact I did't have my first child till I was 20!!

I want to order lawn roughly 20ft by 20 ft. My maths is terrible but I think it's worked out at roughly 7 meters by 7 meters, (don't know if that's right,) how do I work out how many square meters I need? Is it 490 meters or 49 meters?
to calculate area of a rectangle (a square is a special type of rectangle) multiply the two side lengths, so 7*7 = 49
more accurately:
you need 400 sq ft of lawn
which means 20 ft * 20 ft
convert 20 ft to meters
20*(.3048) m * 20*(.3048) m
400 * (.3048^2) = 37.161216
note, 20 ft is closer to 6 m than 7

At sea level it's 212 F, or 100 C. But, if you increase the pressure, then water boils at higher temperatures. That's why you shouldn't remove the radiator cap on a car that's been running in the last 15 minutes- the water is under pressure in the tube, AND it's REALLY hot. you can be severly burned that way!

you should rinse your vegetables before cutting them up, to remove pesticides and stuff; you don't need to clean the insides of them, that's where all the good stuff is!

Q-P = (-3--4, 14-8) = (1,6) := R

My girlfriend recently found a guy that she enjoys hanging out with. She stayed at his house last night with a bunch of people. She just told me that she slept in his bed and snuggled him cause they were cold. Oh, and she was tipsy... Is this cheating?
well, give her points for telling you (unless you found out from someone else?)
but, i think it's very reasonable to ask that she not drink around this guy again. whatever her intentions are, his might be different.

How do i stop holding a grudge, being upset, and suspicious of my boyfriend who cheated on me earlier in our relationship? he was also my bestfriend and i never thought he'd ever do that to me. I want to stop feeling this way and put it in the past.
well, you have to come to terms with the breach in trust.
unfortunately, that may just be a matter of time- the longer goes without doing something bad, the more you trust him.

Ive tried to be a good bf for 1 year, shes says im the greatest shes had. I made a mistake and cheated, I emailed pics of myself to someone else...she says that shes always gonna love me, and in my heart I know I wont do it again, can I get her trust?
you'll have to try pretty hard to even stand a chance, but she'll bring this up every time the two of you disagree on anything.
your best bet is to cut your losses, and accept that you made a mistake, and it was a mistake. it wasn't an accident. simply a mistake in judgement. in your future relationships, after you've had time for personal growth, hopefully you'll...

Hi im new to ur site and i found it rather interesting and at the moment i am having a rather terrible time of my family saying i can't marry a non muslim boy when its ok for the men to marry non muslims. what can i do to make them o.k with it?
probably nothing.
religious people are set in their ways, and don't listen to reason
that being said, you could just denounce your religion and disown your family. that's pretty much what i did (i was muslim, now i'm agnostic; my family is ashamed of me. i don't mind, i've always been the black sheep, anyways)

What do you think about dress codes. Have you had any expriences were there are weird violations
Dresscodes help maintain order.
That being said, uniforms are bad.
My office has a pretty casual dress code-people wear anything from jeans and tucked in t-shirts to full suits.
BUT nobody wears jeans with holes in them, or worn out shoes, and stuff like that.
It maintains a professional environement, AND allows us to be comfortable, so we can focus on our work.

What classic TV show would you like to see resurrected as a new series from the memories of distant past?
None. Classics should not be replicated. They aren't classics because of particular elements within them. Pressure sensitive tiles. If you can make them with piezo elements in them, then rig them to generate voltage to a device that, when it detects voltage, engages a temporary switch to turn on the light, until the voltage is gone.
Another solution is to have a spring under neath the tilws, so as someone steps on them, they bob up and down. Then, place a magnet on the tile, and fix a coil...

When I first started tasting wines, I thought that they all did taste the same. But as I tasted more and more wines, I began developing a knack for tasting the subtle differences.
Wine drinkers 'go on and on' about these things because they genuinely exist, and it helps them communicate how the wine tastes

Eventually, will Windows/Mac/Linux OS's be about as good as they can be, and office software (like Word & Excel) be about as easy & useful as 99.9% of users need, so that there'll be no real need for new versions?
No.
Windows operating systems and office suites are put out by a corporation- they're interest is in making money.
If they can pack on a few more bells and whistles and charge $120 per license, they will. Software made by corporations will only get more bloated
Open source software, however will only get more streamlined, and consistently deliver exactly what the public wants....

If I told my friends ex-boyfriend that she cheated on him and now he turned it around and said that my other friend said it. What should I do?
Why would you rat your friend out like that?
Just lay low for a while until the whole thing blows over.
Answer to:
When I talk to freinds at home my dog always go nuts and starts barking and jumping up, why is this and how can I calm him down?
do you mean when you're on the phone?
pets do this because they don't see anyone else there, so they assume you're talking to them.

Answer to:
Do you carry a knife with you when you leave home either for protection or as a tool you might need?
No. I'm too hot-headed to carry a weapon for protection, and I don't encounter enough situations day to day where I need a knife as a tool, so I would rather reserve the space in my pockets for more important things (or for just not being weighed down)

What do you do if your crush told you that your weight is past their date weight limit? Would you continue the relationship? Or walk away? Why/Why not?
Crushes are something that happen to me over time as I get to know people. By the time I got a crush on someone, I imagine I would know enough about their peronality to know that they wouldn't say something like that.
However, if they did say that, I would try to better understand their motivation- because anyone I get a crush on would have mental capacity enough to not just say such a...

How do you feel about the Supreme Court giving the green light to death by lethal injection?
I disagree, it is clearly cruel, and unusual.
They essentially said that it's ok, because alternatives are too much hassle. So now, our rights are only protected so long as it's convenient...

Answer to:
Can anyone solve f(x)=(x/(x-1))squared Please..Also if your bored: show 10=exp(-2x)+2^x has a solution in the range 0<x<5? Thanks
ok, to differentiate (x/(x-1))^2 use the power rule, chain rule, and division rule
g(x) = x/(x-1)
f(x) = g(x)^2
f' = 2*g(x)*g'(x)
to differentiate 2^x
y = 2^x
recall a^x = e^(xln(a))
y = e^(x*ln(2))
chain rule
y' = e^(x*ln2)*ln(2)
to show 10 = e^(-2x)+2^x has a solution between 0, and 5
f(x) := e^(-2x)+2^x - 10
now show f(x) has a zero between 0 and 5
f(0)...

Is it truly possible to repair and fully recover from a breakdown of trust in a relationship?
No.
I got cheated on once, and we got back together, but whenever we were seperated for more than a short while, I got suspicious.
I broke up with her when I moved 1000 miles away.

Answer to:
Okay as much as my ex hurt me when she left me behind, I kind of am thankful in a way to her because I've met someone else who's really great. We're both not ready to date one another yet, but any ideas of things I could do to impress her?
Why do you want to impress her?
If you try to hard to impress her, she'll start expecting it all the time, and then you'll have to pretend to be someone you aren't.
If you act naturally, and impress her from time to time, that'll be good enough.
Of course, the best way to impress her AND act naturally is to strive for constant self improvement.

In Louisiana anyone convicted of raping a child under 12 years of age could be sentenced to death. Do you think this is a just punishment?
I think it could easily be argued that it's cruel/unusual.
Are we including statutory here? Becuase a 13 year old that has a 12 year old boyfriend/girlfriend certainly doesn't deserve to die if the two are just experimenting.
