Answer to:
How can we make healthy popcorn?
I have a friend that pops her popcorn in just a little bit of coconut oil. It tastes delightful! Also, since it gives the popcorn the light flavor of coconut, you don't need to add butter to make it taste good. You can also get popcorn seasoning. Pop your popcorn in a standard healthy oil, and add popcorn seasoning when you're done. Much better for you than salt and/or butter.

Yes, actually. Not that I can actually read it. I simply assumed you used Morse Code since it's a conglomeration of dots and dashes, and Google led me to this: http://morsecode.scphillips.com/jtranslator.html So the real question is, do you actually know Morse Code, or did you also use a translator?

What do the x-intercepts of a quadratic mean?
A quadratic is a function whose graph looks kind of like a U (it's called a parabola). The x-intercepts are the places where this graph crosses the x-axis. You find them by setting the function equal to zero.
In other words, if you have f(x)=ax^2+bx+c (with a, b, and c being numbers) you solve ax^2+bx+c=0 for x.

pros:
- It's hilarious to watch ferrets and cats play together (provided you have both).
- They aren't as high maintenance as some pets.
cons:

- They like to stow themselves away whenever possible, so it's easy to leave the house with one hiding in your bags, coat pockets, etc.

By declaring themselves atheists, they are saying that they don't believe there is a God. How does the uncertainty of agnostics hurt atheists in any way? You don't just want to know how many different groups of people could receive medals; you want to know how many ways the medals would be distributed among those groups. Therefore, you are looking at permutation rather than combination.
The formula for permutation is n!/(n-r)! where n is the number of available objects, and r is the number you want to use. In your case, n=14 and r=3.

Indeed I do. I don't want my kids to wonder what else I've lied about when they find out there is no Santa, tooth fairy, or Easter Bunny. My parents always told me the truth, and I still had fun going and sitting on Santa's lap at the mall. In what sense? They lose their innocence faster, but they are much slower to learn integrity and responsibility. I think our society is filled with a bunch of adults that still think like children (i.e., never grew up).

I'm beginning to think so. There are far too many people that freak out about who their s/o spends time with. What can I say? She's a cat, which means it's always her own idea. I only get picky when she decides to meow all night or make my bed (and thus me) part of a midnight track...

Take a look into The World of Tomorrow.... you have much financial success...in fact all you've ever dreamed of and more. But your success will come at the price of having friends and family. Do you go there anyway and hope to change some things?
Absolutely not. Money is meaningless compared to relationships. I would rather have a loving family and scrape by with barely enough to live than have all the money in the world and be alone.

It's definitely pretty complicated. Even once you get there, it's pretty confusing to navigate inside. I can't even figure it out most of the time.

In theory, my boyfriend, ninja man. However, I often cannot talk to him right away, so he's not always the first. Right now, I am fully comfortable talking to my roommates, so they sometimes hear before him. But I often just wait until I can talk to him rather than sharing with anyone else.

My sister and brother-in-law sang to each other in their wedding. They chose a song to do together, and each had a couple solo parts within it. However, if she had married someone that couldn't sing, I have no doubt she still would have sung to him.
It's your wedding, so you should make it what you want it to be. There is no rule against you singing to him if that is what you...

I would think you were strange and obsessed, remind you that I have a boyfriend, and move on. However, if I were single, I would be a bit creeped out, and I would wonder what I had done to make you think I would appreciate you cutting yourself off from people. I would also think that if I were ever to be in a relationship with you, you wouldn't be ok with me hanging out with my guy...

Is kissing in public place makes you feels awkward if a guy forces you????????and wud you end the relation if you doest give him a smooch.
If he forced me, I would definitely feel awkward. However, I highly doubt any guy would be stupid enough to attempt to force me to kiss him. If he was that foolish, he wouldn't be successful anyway. And yes, that would pretty much be the end of whatever level of friendship I had with said person. I can't be friends with those I don't trust, and I neither trust nor respect...

Did you (or anyone in any generation of your family) play with a ViewMaster or Mr PotatoHead? What reels or accessories did you have?
Yes!!! I loved both of those! I just had a few standard things for Mr. PotatoHead, so there's not much to tell there. For viewfinder, I had a bunch of animal reels, Disney reels, and I had at least one reel from just about every place we ever went on vacation. Since we normally went to national parks, I had lots of pictures of nature scenes. I would sit with my ViewMaster for hours...

Definitely brush it out! It's not that bad. Start at the ends, go slowly, and it won't pull at all. I once babysat a four-year-old with hair that went halfway down her butt. Her mother hadn't brushed it in over a week, but she had been playing outside and wrestling with her brothers the whole time. Are there girls out there that really have been planning their wedding since they were 10 years old?
Most certainly! Ten-year-olds don't tend to do this often, but as soon as one of them knows someone that's getting/just got married, the whole group starts planning their own weddings. However, you do make me wonder how many women actually remember any of the plans they made as children. I'm not sure if any of those plans ever stick.

Because it costs less to make things of a lower quality. Since our society values maximizing profit more than working hard and maintaining a good name, quality suffers.

One time my cat got out. We live in the country, so we normally let our cats come and go as we please. But this cat had severe allergies and was afraid of everything, so we always kept her in. One morning, the cat was gone, and one corner of the screen was pushed out of the window. Since she always laid in the windows and leaned on the screens, we assumed she fell out.

Not quite. The (12/14)a is correct, but you still need to simplify it. You need to think about the other one a bit more. What is -1/15 - 11/15? You can also think of this as -1/15 + (-11/15). It depends on the sore throat. Back when I perpetually got tonsillitis, I always wanted something cold; but when I get strep, warm is much better. I haven't figured out the others yet, but I never want both warm and cold for the same sore throat. I'm not sure why different temperatures soothe different causes, though.

Find the measure of an angle whose supplement measures eight times its measure.
Supplementary angles sum to 180 degrees.
Let the measure of your angle be x.
Then the measure of the supplement is 8x.
You know that if you add these, you must get 180. Therefore:
x+8x=180
Solve the equation for x, and you will have the measure of the angle you are looking for.

A recent survey of students found that 72% of the Freshman take an English course, 64% take a Math course, and 40% take both an English and Math course. Find the probability that a student takes Math given they take English.
I don't know how to make the symbol for intersection, so I'll just say intersect. You know:
P(E) = 0.72
P(M) = 0.64
P(M intersect E) = 0.4
The equation for the probability that a student will take math given that he takes English is:
P(M|E)= P(M intersect E)/P(E)
I'm pretty sure you're capable of plugging in the values and solving the problem yourself.

It's time for both people to take a good dose of humility, learn how to forgive, and talk things out. You mostly need to talk about how you will avoid letting resentment build in the future. This talk would not be a chance to try to get your way or point accusatory fingers at your partner. You both need the humility to admit your own faults, and the grace to truly forgive the other.

I can often stop gossip simply by beginning to discuss the good things about the person. When that doesn't work, I address the issue of gossip more directly. People don't like being called out, and will generally pipe down.

How do you graph the equation by plotting points? y=1/2x-6
Pick a number for x and put it into the equation. Use that number as the x-coordinate of your point, and use what you get from solving the equation as your y-coordinate of the point. Plot that point. Repeat this process a few more times, and then connect the dots.

What are the types of intimacy?
The three that come to mind quickly are emotional, spiritual, and physical. I think there is also an intimacy that comes from being with someone enough to know them well. Meaning, being with them through enough things over a long enough period of time that you know them better than most other people, even if you don't have an amazing relationship with them. Even if they don't...

When do you know that you no longer love someone, but are now just attached?
Love is a commitment, not a feeling. You don't just love someone until the butterflies go away; that's when you start to figure out what love really is. In answer to your question, you no longer love someone when you stop actively choosing to love them. True love does not just happen, because it is much more profound than fleeting romantic feelings.

You need to put some parenthesis into number one for me to know what you are asking. That could be several different equations the way you currently have it written. Number two is correct, but number three is not.
To multiply fractions, multiply the top parts together, and multiply the bottom parts together. For instance:
(2/5)*(3/4) = (2*3)/(5*4)=6/20=3/10
Use this same method to get...

Only if I feel especially sweet. I'm really a bit too competitive for my own good. I'm normally so focused on winning that I don't even notice if an argument is pointless until my boyfriend says it is. Then I feel kind of silly for making a big deal out of nothing.

Do you think a boyfriend should give his girlfriend a promise ring if they plan to someday get engaged?
I think promise rings are silly. Engagement is simply the promise to get married. So what is a promise ring? A promise that someday I will promise we will get married? What in the world is that supposed to mean? Either get engaged or don't - halfway is pointless.

How can you find the deceleration of an object?
Acceleration is the change in velocity divided by the change in time. Deceleration is simply negative acceleration, so you use the same formula.
Let:
v1 = initial velocity
v2 = final velocity
t1 = starting time
t2 = finishing time
Then:
a = (v2-v1)/(t2-t1)
Of course, if the problem gives you the change of velocity or the change of time, you simply use that instead of subtracting...

"Life is a mixed cup if you are really living; bitter-sweet." Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Life definitely isn't happy all the time, but you can always find something good when it's not. If you really wanted to, you could also find something bad when life was going well, but that doesn't seem like a very good idea. At any rate, we need both. It's impossible to really experience joy if you shut yourself down to pain.

Is it unreasonable to enjoy just sitting together sometimes? I don't think I should have to figure out something to accomplish every time I want to spend time with my boyfriend. It is always the fourth Thursday of the month. Consider that there are 7 days in a week. The date of Thanksgiving depends on what day of the week starts the month that year. Mathematically, Thanksgiving must be between November 22-28 since there are seven days in a week and Thanksgiving is always on the fourth Thursday.

You should flip your mattress on some set schedule (when you change your sheets, once a month, something). Often a girl thinks that if you don't ask you don't care and really don't want to know. If she's clearly upset and not talking, she's likely waiting for you to show that you care enough to ask. Don't be stubborn about waiting for her to speak up. In her mind, if you don't ask, you don't care; if you don't care, why should she tell you?

IF a man spends $20K on a car he is only to keep for 5 years, why shouldn't he spend at least half that amount on the engagment ring for "the love of his life"?
The car is functional. The more you spend on a car, the more you get out of it. The ring represents a commitment that in no way changes with the cost of the ring. An expensive ring is unnecessary adornment, not a measure of his love. Why should he spend a fortune on it? It makes no sense for him to dedicate his life to saving for a ring.

I think so. The only sense in which we can make time is to choose to use the time we already have in a certain way. For instance, you can make time for someone, but not while you are at work. If you truly don't have the time to work with, you can't make it.

I would hunt! I would fish if I had to, but I really don't enjoy it at all. However, I don't intend to give up hunting any time soon. If I couldn't buy groceries, it would just be added motivation to hunt more. I'm really not into buying food, anyway. I think we should keep the tip system. If servers did not have to worry about a tip, many of them would be significantly less pleasant to be around. My boyfriend apologizes for EVERYTHING. Like today, we were eating steak and he poured some steak sauce on his plate. It came out faster than he thought, so he looked at me and said, "sorry!". How do I tell him(again)to stop apologizing for everything?
I personally find that it's a very hard habit to stop. When someone brings it up, I usually end up apologizing for apologizing! For me, it comes from an exceeding desire to please those I care about. No matter how small of a mistake I make, I feel like I have disappointed those people, and I should apologize. For me, it has helped that my boyfriend consistently assures me that I...

Why do so many questions on AB lack proper spelling, punctuation or syntax? They are often hard to read or understand. Is it because people are rushing too much to post their questions?
I think there are two main reasons:
1. People really don't care about such things. I think this is especially true of younger people who are used to abbreviating everything in text and instant messages.
2. Sometimes people try to fit as much information as possible into a question, so they condense it by using a lot of abbreviations.
I agree that it makes it much more difficult....

There is no rule that says you have to like one of your friends better than the rest. My closest friends are all on the same level, so I just say that they are all my best friends. Should it manditory for women to register for the draft?
I don't really like the idea of the draft in general, but I think it is impractical to require women to register. If both men and women were registered, then there would be many children left without either parent. The draft is a fairly random process, so it would be common for both parents to be sent away. We would then have to figure out how we are to care for all of the little ones...

There are no rules against going back to your former college. Just realize that usually, the more you transfer, the more difficult it is for you. Also, most colleges require you to complete at least half of your major and all upper level courses at the college from which you intend to graduate. Anyone know how to explain why the formula d/dx (inverse sine x) equals 1/[(1-x^2)^0.5]
First, set y between -pi/2 and pi/2. That is, -pi/2 is less than or equal to y, which is less than or equal to pi/2.
Let y=arcsin(x)
Then sin(y)=x
Now differentiate implicitly with respect to x.
cos(y)y'=1
y'=1/[cos(y)]
Because y must be between -pi/2 and pi/2, cos(y) must be nonnegative (greater than or equal to zero).
Therefore, cos(y) may be written as:

X^(1/2) = sqrt(x)
Can someone explain what this means and how it's read, thank you.
How it's read:
x to the one-half power equals the square root of x.
What it means:
Raising any number to the half power is the same as taking the square root of it. In the same way, raising any number to the 1/3 power is the same as taking the cubed root of it, and raising any number to the 1/4 power is the same as taking the fourth root of the number.

If you have an isosoles triangle, then two of the angles have the same measure. I don't have a picture to see which are the congruent angles, but if B=80, then A and C must be congruent.

Next, solve this equation for x. Once you have found x, multiply it by two to...

First, since you have two scores of 70%, you can simply add the overall mark of those together. In other words, you have 70% on the parts that are 60% and 5% of your final grade, so you have 70% on 65% of your final grade.
To find your overall score, multiply your scores...

Answer to:
What is the derivative of y=x^cos2x?
y=x^cos2x
take the natural log of both sides:
lny=ln(x^cos2x)
use the power rule for logarithms:
lny=cos2x(lnx)
use the chain and multiplication rules:
(1/y)y'=-sin2x(2)(lnx)+cos2x(1/x)
rewrite:
y'/y=-2sin2x(lnx)+(cos2x)/x
multiply both sides by y:
y'=y[-2sin2x(lnx)+(cos2x)/x]
replace y with x^cos2x:
y'=(x^cos2x)[-2sin2x(lnx)+(cos2x)/x]

How do you find the exact volume of a cone that has a slant height of 25 inches and a radius of 24 inches?
The volume of a cone is (1/3)(pi)(r^3)(h). r is the radius, and h is the height of the cone. Right now you know r, but you don't know h (the slant height is not the same as the height).
To find h, realize that the radius, the slant height, and the height of a cone form a right triangle. Use the Pythagorean Theorem (a^2+b^2=c^2) to find the height of the cone:
r^2+h^2=s^2 (s is the...

What is the slope of the line 6x+2y=-24?
To find the slope, put the equation into point-slope form: y=mx+b. In other words, solve your equation for y. Once the equation is in the form y=mx+b, the slope is m. If the equation looks like: y=-mx+b, that means that your slope is negative, so don't forget to keep the negative number when you write down the slope.

As far as I know, 27 December 1970 was a Sunday. Having said that, would you know of a website which can ascertain what day of the week a certain date (since 1 March 1900, if possible) was?
http://www.hf.rim.or.jp/~kaji/cal/
The site actually has a lot more available than just the years on this page. If you click on a year, 1609 for instance, the link would be:
http://www.hf.rim.or.jp/~kaji/cal/cal.cgi?1609
From there, you can change the year at the end of the link to anything between 1 AD and 3000 AD, and it will take you to that year.

In the equation y=mx b, is x the x-intercept?
Assuming you meant y=mx+b, x can be anything. m is the slope, and b is the y value of the y-intercept, so m and b are constants. y and x are variables that change with each point on the line.
Did you need to find the x-intercept? If so, just set y equal to 0, and solve for x: 0=mx+b. In order to do that, you obviously need to know m and b.

I have a parallelogram. 4w is in the bottom left corner, 2x is in the bottom right corner, and 60 is in the top right corner. I need to find the value of each variable in the parallelogram. HELP!!
The opposite angles are equal. That means that the top right corner equals the bottom left corner.
4w=60
The two top angles add up to 180 degrees. The two bottom angles also add up to 180 degrees. Since you know that the bottom left is 60, you can solve for the bottom right.
2x=180-60

First of all, a lot is always written as two words (don't feel bad - it's a common mistake). However, a lot is also typically considered slang. Since slang is never technically correct, you should always avoid it when writing or speaking in a formal situations (in other words, when it's for someone other than your friend). The easiest way to solve this problem is to factor it and set each factor equal to zero.

factor out 4b:
4b(3b-2)=0
set each factor equal to zero:
4b=0 and 3b-2=0

Always use feminine pronouns for countries. I don't know why, but I'm not sure that most grammar rules have a specific reason. It has to be one or the other, so way back when, someone decided feminine pronouns were better for countries.

Can you Solve the equation y=4x+8
What do you need to solve for? It has already been solved for y. I can solve for x. If you need to solve for x and y so that each of them equals a number, you need another equation. If you simply want to find the x and y intercepts of the graph of that equation, set one variable to zero at a time and solve for the other one. This question is not clear enough to give you a real answer.

Why do scientists think that the universe goes on forever? What other possibilities do you think there are, and please explain your reasoning.
The only other possibility is that the universe does not go on forever. The universe goes a limited distance, and then...POOF! no more universe.
My reasoning for that is: there is nothing between forever and not forever. Either it is or it isn't. If you don't think that it does go on forever, then it doesn't. If it doesn't go on foever, it must be limited.

Etymology is the study of the history of words. It looks at where our words come from. A good understanding of root words will help you figure out the definitions of other words with which you aren't familiar.

The total cost ($52.01) is the cost of the meal (x) and the cost of the tip (15% [.15] of the cost of the meal [x]).

The simplest way to solve this problem is to use the law of cosines. In this case, the law of sines cannot be applied directly, but the law of cosines can. The law of cosines states:
a^2=b^2+c^2-2bccosα
a is the length of the side you want to find, b and c are the lengths of the legs of the triangle, and α is the measure of the angle opposite a (the angle between the legs).

However, since they tell you to speak to the Assistant Director of Admissions, it is most likey a requirement for admission. Either way, if you call that person, he/she will be able to answer your question.

Why do we need a date? Can't we just choose to do so whenever a new incident arises? That would save us a lot of emotional energy on resentment. And our overall health would be much better.

Given the slopes of the line and the point on the line,how do you find an equation for each line?
You would use the point-slope equation of a line.
y-y1=m(x-x1)
x1 is the x-coordinate of the point
y1 is the y-coordinate of the point
m is the slope of the line
For example: Find the equation of a line with slope 4 that passes through the point (2,3).
Step 1 - identify x1, y1, and m:
x1=2
y1=3
m=4
Step 2 - substitute these values into the point-slope form of the equation of a...

You have a choice. You can have twins and when your twins turn three you will have sextuplets. You will then have 8 children 3 and under. If you choose to not go down this path, you will not have any children at all. What do you choose?
I would definitely have the children. The first couple years after the sextuplets were born would be insane, but not impossible. There would continue to be challenges after that, but not to the same degree. It would be easy to find activities that the whole family could get into, because the children are all within three years of each other. Besides the fact that I would only have to give...

F (x) = x2 + x – 2. 2. Find the x and y intercepts algebraically a. To find the x intercept, let f (x) = 0 and solve for x. Factor, complete the square, or use the quadratic formula.
I'm assuming your original equation is:
F(x)=x^2+x-2
To find the x-intercepts, set F(x) equal to zero, and solve for x:
x^2+x-2=0
factor:
(x+1)(x-2)=0
set each factor equal to zero, and solve for x:
x+1=0
x=-1
x-2=0
x=2
The x-intercepts are (-1,0) and (2,0).
To find the y-intercept, solve:
F(0)=x^2+x-2
replace all x's with 0:
F(0)=0^2+0-2
F(0)=-2

Contrary to popular opinion, it is possible for a girl to say she's not looking for a relationship and really mean it. I was always completely honest in saying that I was not interested in any relationship - it would not have mattered who was asking. Coming from that perspective, it can make a friendship akward with a guy that wants a relationship when you don't. The guys to whom I...

I need to do good on my community college placement test so I can get in advanced classes and my credits will transfer after 2 years. I did bad on my SAT and am concerned that I will not get into advance courses. Are placement tests hard?
The purpose of a placement test is to assess what you already know and put you in a class that will teach you the next thing. They are not designed to be super hard tests, just to measure whether or not you have learned the material. That means that the beginning of the test should be easy, and it should get progressively harder. They will allow you to enter classes that are the level above...

What is the inverse of the equation y=sqrt(y-4)?
The way you wrote this equation, it has no inverse. However, I think you may have meant to write:
y=sqrt(x-4) or f(x)=sqrt(x-4)
Inverse functions are basically backwards functions. Right now, if you put in any value for x that is greater than or equal to 4, you will get out one value for y. You want to write the function so that if you put in any value for y, you will get out one value...

An integer is anything that can be written as what you would think of as a "normal" number. Integers are the numbers you would use when counting. They do not have decimals, and they are not fractions (though some fractions can be written as integers). 101 is a normal number, and therefore is an integer. 0/9 does not look like an integer, but what does it equal? 0 divided by...

Write an equation in standard form that has the same y-intercept as 3x+4y=19 and the same x-intercept as -4x+6y=25
The first thing you need to do is find the x-intecept and y-intercept from those equations.
To find the y-intercept, set x equal to zero, and solve for y.
3x+4y=19
3(0)+4y=19
4y=19
y=19/4 (divide both sides by 4)
The y-intercept is (0,19/4)
To find the x-intercept, set y equal to zero, and solve for x.
-4x+6y=25
-4x+6(0)=25
-4x=25
x=-25/4 (divide both sides by -4)

The circumference of any circle is the diameter multiplied by pi. You are most likely using pi rounded to 3.14, so the equation looks like:
C=(d)(pi)
If you substitute the numbers in your equation for pi and C, you get:
55=3.14d
Now, you just solve for d.

First, write out your equation.
3x^4-15x^3=0
Then, look for things to factor. Each term contains 3 and x^3, so they can be factored out.
(3x^3)(x-5)=0
Set each factor equal to zero.
3x^3=0 and x-5=0
Now solve each of those equations for x.
Lastly, always remember to check your solutions in the original equation.

Since the interior angles of pentagons always sum to 540 degrees, it makes sense that the...

To solve by substitution, you must first choose one equation to work with. Then you choose a variable to isolate (make it be the only thing on one side of the = sign).
I'm choosing to start with your second equation, and to isolate x.
x+y=-9
x=-9-y (subtract y from both sides)
You can now return to your second equation. You know that x=-9-y, so you can put (-9-y) in the equation...
