How would time be perceived if the world didn't rotate or orbit the sun?
I think time would still be perceived in the manner it is now - linear. We would not have the cyclical seasons, but, events would still appear to happen in a linear manner, we would still perceive past/present/future.
Our environment may look a lot different though and the way we measure the passing of time would be different.
Answer to:
In general, do governments act in the best interest of people they govern?
Depends on the people in power. It's faulty thinking to generalize about a particular demographic - politicians are no different. A government is made up of individuals and as such can reflect the entire spectrum of individuals out there.
There were and are governments that do act in the best interest of the people they govern, there were and are governments that do not.

In my experience, sometimes a guy can get tiny abrasions after having a lot of sex (either with a partner or with self). Sometimes the lubricants and/or spermacide in the condoms can irritate these tiny abrasions and present as a burning sensation.

Is it acceptable to wear fishnet tights to work in an office?
It really depends on how you wear them, as an accent to an otherwise fairly demure ensemble, or in a blatently sexy manner? Fishnets were worn all the time in the forties and do have a certain playfulness about them. So, it really depends on what you wear with them as to whether it would be acceptable or not, I think.
It has been shown in recent studies, however, that women who dress to...

Not necessarily. If you must transport a refrigerator on it's side, you need to allow 24 hours in an upright position before starting it up again.

Who "invented" the weekend and why?
The weekend came about so that people may have time to observe their religous/spiritual beliefs. Even the pagans of ancient Rome had a day of rest on the day of the Sun, or Sunday.
Originally, for both Christians and Jews alike, the sabbath was on Saturday. The Catholic church (some say it was by order of Pope Pius V, in 1566 - although this 'fact' is hotly debated) changed the...

Is it true that a hospital won't try as hard to save someone who has signed up to be an organ donor?
It's definitely not outside the realm of possibility. To say that hospitals do this in general would be incorrect. It's not a generally accepted 'policy' of hospitals to do this. Does this ever happen? It seems quite a few people believe so, as evidenced by all the lawsuits over this very issue.
I think the philosophical question here is when is dead, truly dead?...

Why are four-leaf clovers considered to be lucky?
"When Adam and Eve were evicted from the Garden of Eden, Eve snatched a 4-leaf clover (which were plentiful in the Garden) as a remembrance of her days in Paradise. Also, the rarity of the plant (at one time) contributed to its value, although seeds which grow only 4-leaf clovers are now available.
