tv standards are now 4x3 or 16x9 (widescreen) but theater formats changed with every new directors idea of "better". most theaters are built with screens much larger than what you can see & adjust the side curtains to fit whatever format they are showing. last time i checked they used 20...

no, must use the exact lamp the set was designed for or you will get shutdown problems. The microprocessor tracks the lamps power usage to control brightness the wrong lamp will shut it down, most will not start at all

they sample the AKB pulse from the flyback transformer to sync the osd information, follow the signal from the fly to the video process ic and you will find several diodes along the line - these short quite often and kill the menu/osd
