I'm writing a novel and want to know the best way to keep from rushing. At the moment I feel as if I'm going good. But dialog I feel is short and maybe to much to the point. Little casual conversation. Anyone have any pointers on how to avoid this? Read it out loud to yourself. If is sounds like a natural conversation, then your dialogue is fine. If when you read it, you feel like you're missing a bit, or you pretending to be the character might add a it more, then do so!
