Years ago I quit smoking through accupuncture. I walked into the clinic having smoked my last cigarette, had the treatment, and walked out never desiring another cigarette. It worked great without most of the withdrawal I had when I tried quitting on my own. Does your dad want to quit? That was the key for me, I think.

Lowering your sodium intake is a great way to lower blood pressure. My doc also has me taking potassium tablets, which seems to help. If you have to drink soda (I understand completely...I drink diet Coke all day long!), try switching to a low sodium brand. As for donuts, I can't advise on that one. I always remember my dreams. They are more like movies and involve people I know and don't know, places I've been and always wanted to go to, and things I can and cannot do in my awake life. Gracie comes from a nickname by best friend gave me. I told him a story of when I was a little girl and wanted to be a ballerina. I tried dancing for my mom and grandmother and tripped, hitting my head on the wall in front of me. My grandmother called me "Grace". When I told the story to my best friend, he thought it was funny and has called me Gracie whenever I do something silly.

So many things! Last night I spent the evening serving a hot meal to homeless teens. When I left, I thanked God for my warm apartment. I'm thankful for my beautiful children and grandchildren, my best friend, my job, and for the experience of living this life. I thank God that I am loved by Him. Have you tried putting him in his high chair when you give him juice? Let him know that's the only place he can drink his juice and if he doesn't want to sit there, then he can't have any juice. Offer him water instead.
