Which is easier to learn; acoustic or electric guitar, or one that is both? And which sounds better?
Often, electric guitars are easier to play as they tend to have faster action (makes it easier on your left hand). But really acoustic and electric are the same.
Get a budget and then go to a guitar shop and buy what you like the look of best, the chap in the shop will help, but make sure when you hang it round your neck it makes you feel cool, that will encourage you to practice....
Answer to:
What is hedonism? Is it good or bad?
Well, hedonism, as I understand it, is indulging in everything that is pleasurable. Like the Roman elite or ravers did in the 90s. Whether it is good or bad rather depends on balance, a little of what you fancy is a good thing but doing nothing except sex, drugs and rock and roll will ultimately be your demise.
I am a hedonist at the weekends :o) during the week I am an engineer :o(

Well, taking the sorting hat song as a good indicator of the various attributes of each house, I would hope for Gryffindor as I like to think of myself as brave and chivalrous. As I probably am just and very loyal it might be Hufflepuff. Less likely would be Ravenclaw, I am OK at learning but would also like to think of myself as witty. Least likely is Slytherin as although I have cunning I do...

Its not gereally stored. It is distributed by the power lines you see on pylons. It comes out of the power station at a very high voltage (60000 volts maybe) and as it get closer to you home it passes through substations where its voltage is lowered until it is the voltage you have in your sockets.
I can go into more detail if you tell me whichcountry you are in or what specifics you need.

He is probably more worried that you will have kids with him and you won't love his first child as much as your own. They will all be his kids so he should feel the same about them.

Why is snow so bright
If you could get snow under a microscope without it melting you would see its made out of tiny crystals (like diamonds or something). Snow crystals are extremely good at reflecting light especially when you compare them with other stuff you might find on the ground like dirt or tarmac. So where dirt just absorbs light snow reflects all the light from the sky back out.

What is a "back hand praise"
Usually its called s 'back handed compliment'. It is a compliment that is actually an insult.
A good example would be: Your report is good, much better than your usual work.
It is praise because 'Your report is good' but is also an insult because it implies that your usual work is much worse than this 'good' report.

Richard Dawkins has written: That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence. Logically, is this valid?
I think so.
In terms of logic any concept needs proof to be valid.
But in terms of scientific method, you start with a hypothesis and then using experimentation you prove you hypotheses correct or incorrect. This means you cannot dismiss a hypothesis until the experiment is over. But If you have a hypothesis and then don't do an experiment it can be dismissed.

So you have FOUR different numbers to start with and you need to add them all up:
2+3+7+12=24
Then you need to divide the answer by how many numbers you started with (FOUR)...
24/4= 6
So the mean is 6.
Good luck

How do you solve 5+{6+2x(3+9)}
Start with whats in the brackets.
So the first bit you do is 3 + 9 = 12
Then look at the next brackets and and see that there is X and + so you have to do the X first 2 x 12 = 24. Next you do the + so 24 + 6 = 30
so now all thats left is the 5 so 5 + 30 = 35
You should be able to do the rest of your homework yourself ;o) as long as you remember to do the sums in this order:...

Any suggestions of a natural remedy that can help stop damp and the spreading of mold spores in the home?
Let air in by opening windows for a hour every day. Keep your heating on low all day (except for when the windows are open). Mop up condensation that forms on windows. You could also try getting a big bag of salt and leaving some on a plate next to the problem area, the salt will absorb moisture from the air.

In europe (not England) wine and beer are part of the culture and available to children at a young age, this demystifies alcohol and stops it from being cool, the result is children who don't drunk much.

You could try this in a lab:
Measure the volume of the vodka, heat it to 80 degrees, the alcohol will evaporate much quicker than the other ingredients so check it volume every minute when it seems to level off the alcohol is gone.
So if you start with 100 and end with 60 then it was 40%, if it ends with 80 then it was 20%.
You should ask your lecturers, they would porbably be well...

I think the longest it has ever taken to is several hundred years. But then it depends on your definition...
If a church is a big building full of pomp and symbolism then at least a year.
If it is a place to worship god then all you need is somewhere for people to sit and a space at the front for the speaker so no time at all.
If it is a place where god listens to you then either all...

I thought this would belong in the fish cathing section, since we're disregarding cooking it, and I know how to do that already.
You need to get the guts out:
Get the sharpest knife you can find. Place the fish on a easy to clean chopping board with the head facing away from you with its belly to the right, put your left hand on top of it firmly to hold it steady.
Take the knife in your right hand and carefully cut along the belly starting at the head end and ending at the tail. You need to cut deep enough to get...

Animal are adapted depending on what they need there eyes for. Deer don't really need 3D vision and grass rarely runs away, they need to be able to see as much of the scenery as possible so they...

Hi
We have a condensing combi boiler and it is extremely energy efficient. They work by heating water only when you need it. The down side is that the water has to flow through the boiler for a few seconds before it starts heating it but this is a small price to pay. I think it will have paid for itself (through saving fuel) in about four years.

Hi, no I don't think you can. Keeping the voltage the same is very important as a higher voltage could lead to damage or overheating. You could try the following:

2. Use more than one AAA battery but you would have to connect then in parallel rather than series.

How is the UK stopping their coastal erosion?
Lots of ways:
Sea walls around lots of the UK.
Sand is dredged and then dumped off the coast.
We have groynes (spelt wrong) on many beaches.
But I think the most recent develpment is in Essex where they have let the sea flood the land creating a brackish environment/ecosystem which is basically what was there before humans started messing with it.

Is it possible to use 60 hertz electric current for a 50 hertz electric motor, what are the consequence?
AC electrical motors use the frequency of the current as the runspeed of the motor, I think, so in theory it would run a bit faster. There is a risk that it will not start as the starter part of the motor may not like it or that the motor will have problems. You need to consider the fact that it will be getting 20% more power than before.

After reading about the protests outside of both conventions, I've been wondering, why are so many modern peace demonstrations so violent? These riots seem a little hypocritical to me.
Good question, I learnt the answer to this through bitter experience...
You get two types of people at protests. The first type are people who want to make there point heard and try and change the world. The other type are people who love chaos and anarchy, these people don't care what the protest is about they just use it as an excuse to destroy things start fires and hit policemen.

my wife has a yaris and it has a piece of material that links the shelf the seat backs. the rear seats also slide so you might want to check to see if yours do, this either increases leg room in the back or boot space.

Good Omens.
Both are fantastic books but Good Omens was more original and NG influence made it different from the Discword formula. I can't believe they didn't make a film out of it. I heard they had Terry Gillingham and Johnny Depp onboard. The other great thing about Good Omens is the 1980's UK setting.

Swearing is an easy way of expressing emotion, I think it is lazy and shows a lack of vocabulary. It also waters down the power of a swearword each time you use it. That said, I swear all the time. Its not flattering. When you consider great orators they are rarely people who swear.

Answer to:
A circular swimming pool, 20ft in diameter, is enclosed by a wooden deck that is 3ft wide. What is the area of the deck? How much fence is required to enclose the deck?
OK...
Area of a circle = Pi x Radius squared
Radius is half the diameter
The decking is a circle but with the pool removed.
So
Area of pool = Pi x 10 x 10
Area of decking = Pi x 13 x 13 - area of the pool
Fence needs to go round the circumference of the decking
Circumference = pi x diameter
the diameter is the diameter of the pool with the decking on each side = 26 feet.

I found black books on TV on demand recently and remembered how much I like it. In the show I think Dylan is more funny, I think he wrote the scripts so they are very natural to him. I also think that he is actually like that in real life. As stand up I think Bill is much funnier than Dylan as he is more absurd, silly and clever.

How did the phase, "I've got covered" come to be coined to mean that someone has taken on the responsibility to complete something?
Good question, but I think you meant "I've got it covered".
I think it comes from the army, when your friends are trapped by the enemy firing at them you can draw attention away from them by firing at the enemy, this is called 'covering fire' (your bullets are like a protective blanket). This phrase has been adapted to suit normal life. Hope that makes sense.

Aren't you glad that John McCain picked a woman as VP candidate? Aren't you disappointed that Barack Obama did not pick a woman (Hillary Clinton) as VP candidate?
I think that the only reason McCain picked a woman is because his campain consultants have realised that there are a lot of women who wanted to vote for Hillary Clinton and will now vote for any party with a Lady at the top. In the UK we call this sort of thing 'Spin' and it detracts massively from policy politics.

Popularity is due to accessability. Its probably because you can do summer olympic sports anywhere and in any weather but you can only do winter olympic sports where its cold and usually mountainous. You can run across a snowy hill but you can't ski down a flat warm road. Unfortunately winter sports are often the preserve of the wealthier classes.

Why is more CO2 produced than the amount of coal burned
Coal is made mostly of carbon atoms, they weigh 12 each. When the burn in air what is actually happening is that they are combining with oxygen atoms, which weigh 16 each. for one carbon you need two oxygens so what you get is:
C + O2 = CO2
12 + 16x2 =44
so for every carbon that weighs 12 you end up with a CO2 that weighs 44.
Hope that helps

Watch a lot of Australian TV. Australians generally talk by raising the pitch of there voice towards the end of a sentence, this would make you sound less critical. You can also try altering phrases - instead of 'you are driving too fast' (negative) try 'wow at this speed we will be there in no time' positive.

If a box spring is what we in england call a divan (a wooden box on castors for putting a mattress on) then I can't see why it would be illegal to remove it. Cant you fix the hole?

Have you ever offerred to help a stranger... only for them to refuse it?
Yesm, a few times. I found a blind man who was lost, he didn't want me to tell him where he was. My freind Elmo once stopped a lady in Norwich and asked her directions, she thought he was mugging her forced her purse into his hand and ran off. He initially chased her to give it back, but that just made it worse. Strange but true.

Do you think it is fair for the government to tell parents how they can and cannot raise their kids and then turn around and punish the parents when the child grows up to be a deviant? Just a thought...
I think that if parents do what the government say they won't be punished. What's needs to be considered is that to have a dog you need a licence and to have a car you need training, testing and a licence but to have a child you need nothing at all.

Do you prefer a power boat or sail boat? Why?
Sail boats for me everytime.
I love dingys as they are so exciting and fun to race, I love yatchs because of the team effort it takes to make them work. The idea of using the wind rather than fuel is great. The feeling of history you get from knowing you are doing the same thing that the greatest explorers of the world did is so rewarding.
Motor boats are more comfortable though.

Why is sea water salty?
There is a lot of salt on earth (salt is usually a mixture of metal and acid) it is present just about everywhere. One charateristic of salt is that it disolves easily in water so whenever water passes over land (like a river) it dissolves the salt and carries it away. Rivers inevitably lead to the sea so the sea ends up with all the salt in it. When the sea heats up (like if the sun shines on...

In terms of friction creating heat, how can wind or blowing air against your skin cool you down?
Your skin is porous and has a thin layer of water on it, the wind increases evaporation of this water. Evaporation means that the water has turned from liquid to gas as this happens it takes energy from your skin in the form of heat. this cools you down.
