Why would a person remain with a religious group when it is clear that what is taught is not in agreement with God's Word?
People are not even in agreement about what God's Word is. Protestants disagree with Catholics. They both disagree with Eastern Orthodox churches. Protestants disagree with the reformers. On top of that difficult issue, there are different senses in which Scripture can be understood. Who is to determine whether or certain passage is supposed to have a literal, allegorical, moral, or...

As a child I would see commercials about feeding starving children in very poor countries. Why not start a sterilization program instead?
Are we talking about your pets or your fellow human beings? This type of solution categorizes the problem humans and lowers then to the level of animals. Who decides who gets sterilized and who doesn't? What if you disagree? What if the poor person doesn't want to bw sterilized? It never ceases to amazes me how often the solution suggested for helping.g to cure the ills facing all humanity...

Answer to:
Do you think its wrong to indoctrinate children into religions before the age of 18? If no why?
This question is simply a not so veiled asking of whether or not religion should be banned. Exactly how would someone with children go about hiding the sole motivation for their way of life from their kids? Parents teach every moment of every day regardless of whether they are attempting to teach their children or not. Even absent parents teach their children that the child is not worth the...

Does believing in a God make you happier and healthier?
As a believer in God, it is easier for me to find purpose in suffering. This is not why I believe in God, however it does provide a context for what the fruits of suffering can be. I do believe that knowing that nothing in life is without purpose can help someone to lead a life of deep and abiding joy. Healthier, perhaps as a result of having less stress or worry one is less prone to certain...

The reason why people believe in God is ________________ ?
I personally believe in God because I have been witness to miracles that cannot be explained by science. Through my relationship with Christ, in prayer I have had inform revealed to me that I could not have known. I was a practical atheist at a young age and I believe now that these events were necessary for my belief. Though I didn't demand them, He brought them about.

A priest refused to give a Lesbian communion at her mother's funeral. Is this an 'atta boy' or a 'shame on you'?
The priest deserves an attack boy for showing great love at a great price. People like to paint God's love as a sunshiny frolic through a field of wildflowers, and it would be, if humans didn't want to rip out all the flowers and shove them down each others throats. Why is parenting hard? Because kids don't listen and do bad things. I can forgive my children for breaking a family rule, but...

Believers in a particular God: Could you write down why you DON'T believe in all other Gods?
You might find why I don't believe in yours.
Fun, I don't believe in other gods because if one defines the singular term god as Jew, Christian, or Muslim does, it is a logical fallacy that there could possibly be more than one. This is the reason that I am not a polytheist. Monotheism is philosophically coherent. Monotheism has also been a boon to science. If one takes a serious look at the history of scientific discovery, he or she...

Given the choice, would you rather be a man or a woman?
I think this question is almost impossible to answer. In my opinion God's greatest creation was woman. Not just from a physical beauty standpoint, but most especially from a creative standpoint. How should religious people stop their children from becoming atheist?
It is the job of a parent to guide their children on a path that will lead to their ultimate good. Each parent has a different idea of what the ultimate good is. As long as the fundamental human rights of the children are not being violated, I have no problem with any parent teaching their children what they believe to be true. My fundamental standard for my children in all of their beliefs...

Rosie,
This question is completely ridiculous. You have put forward a false premise in order to stir people up. The education gap in the US for rich and poor is widening thus reducing the chances for the poor to make good. Conservatism in action?
What a joke! Parent involvement, personal motivation, and a secure home life, are the leading indicators in a child's educational achievement. Do you think it's possible to be a Christian, but believe the Bible is full of errors and contradictions?
One has to start with a proper understanding of the Bible in order to determine what is an error or contradiction. Most Christians recognize that the bible is neither a science text nor history text. While it does lay out that God is God over science, and it does relay historical events, the purpose of the Bible is to teach man about God. We do not expect the human author of Scripture to...

Should animals have the same right as humans to live?
People are philosophically off base here. Animals and the environment are under the care of humans. Laws to protect them are not laws to make sure that their rights are not being violated. Such laws, looked at from the proper perspective, are laws to make sure that humans live up to their responsibility to appropriately manage animals and the environment. In short, human laws should be...

My favorite part of this article is the section about the nuns pressuring unwed mothers to give up their children. Catholics are so under educated about their faith it is laughable. They mistakenly assume that an infinite God and the teachings of His church will make sense to them without any outside information or further...

A Christian woman told me "the Bible contains ALL the answers". How is this possible?
If she meant the answer philosophically, then she was following a long tradition including some of the greatest minds in history. Jesus Christ is the answer to all of the questions of humanity. These questions aren't questions that can be contained by a specific place and time. They are questions that humanity has always desired to have answers to. What is the meaning of life? Why am I here?...

What are your objections to capital punishment?
I object to capital punishment on the grounds that no person or government has the right to take the life of a human person innocent or guilty. (This assumes that the taking of the life is the goal of the aggressor.) This would go for any war where the primary intent was to take the lives of the other soldiers. Even if the goal of capital punishment was to keep criminals from repeating their...

Let me start by saying that I am fundamentally opposed to capital punishment in a society that can safely and effectively house criminals for life. According to the reports I have seen, there were eye witnesses who testified to the fact that he shot one man in the face....

I reject the premise of this question "some are trapped as men in a female body." How does one know that they feel like a man or a woman? What does this even mean? This question highlights an important and common misunderstanding of how to read and interpret the Bible. The biblical concept of love is not closely linked with the idea of love today. The biblical principle of love is to desire and act toward the good of another. It includes encouraging them to grow in virtue and in charity through loving correction.

What is your main concern with the LDS(Mormon) faith?
One serious concern with the LDS faith is that it is historically inaccurate. The LDS view of the early christian church is highly inaccurate. This is often cited as a reason for rejecting the Council of Nicea in 325.) However, Gnosticism, which has its root in...

As an orthodox member of the Catholic Church, I find it offensive that Mr. O'Brien so publicly supports something that the Catholic Church adamantly opposes. This blatantly contradicts the way that the Catholic Church refers to Tradition's role in the...

Is their any reliable, independent evidence for the existence of Jesus of the new testament as a historical figure?
Jesus without reasonable doubt did exist. One of the main points that the author of the contrary position left out, is the fact that there are hundreds of writings by early Christians that testify to the existence of Christ. Over 100 narratives (gospels) of the life of Jesus did not make the cut for the Bible. Numerous letters, similar to the Epistles of Paul, were written between leaders of...

I couldn't agree more. The sanctity of human life, is something that people have completely lost touch with. Thankfully, this does not mean that it ceases to exist. Of course they would not change their minds. In fact they would be illogical to do so. Are we to assume that all things genetic are good? How about heart disease? How about bipolar disorder or other mental disorders that are genetic? Most Christians view same sex attraction as an affliction, and homosexual acts as sinful.

Why is it that most Republicans say we don't need more government control, but in the same breath say that the government should control who you can or can not marry or what a woman can do with her body?
I am not a Republican, but instead of putting up a straw man argument, I think I can give at least a reasonably coherent argument for these things. First of all the small government principle of republicans is a result of their ideology of freedom, not the whole ideology itself.
The core of conservative beliefs is promoting freedom. They believe that life is the basis for these freedoms,...

What if one religion had a "must-go-to-work day" that coincided with the Christian-based "day of rest" which many American states still observe: would one get precedent over the other?

Christian churches (and most other religions) teach that killing children in the womb is wrong, yet it still happens in every state and over 1,500,000 times a year in the United States. Christian churches (and almost all other major religions) teach that marriage is between a man and a woman, yet many states, even states where it has...

I don't have great opinion of the Church itself, though I have really enjoyed its people. Typical Americans are so much like their teenagers that it is not even funny. They want to be exactly like others. It all depends on who has the right to determine the definition of what a Christian is. If the Confederate Flag is NOT racist - why do so few (if any) Black people fly it?
I have not ever witnessed a black person flying a flag with a neon green kangaroo sailing in an artichoke sailboat on a potato salad pond. Am I to conclude that such a flag would also be racist. If you are trying to figure out whether or not the flag is racist (which a flag, being and inatimate object, could not be) you should try a different premise.

Sounds like you have a very unhealthy relationship. You are asking your significant other if you are "hotter" than other women? Is your relationship built on "hotness" if it is it is doomed to fail no matter what you do. You are not feeling insecure because of your answer, you obviously asked the question because you are insecure.

Does the site let men rate men and women rate women? If so that may be part of the reason for the seemingly inadeqaute number of goodlooking men. But beware of men who spend too much time working on their own appearance. What a woman really deserves is a man who spends his time working to make her happy, and someone who has an undying committment to what is best for his family.

If i live in indiana and im seventeen can i legally date a twenty year old without parents consent?
If you live in Indiana and as a 17 year old you are physically active with a 22 year old. He is committing a sex crime and could have his name and address on the internet as a sex predator if he gets caught.
*I was informed that this answer was inaccurate. While I don't condone a 20 year old taking advantage of a 17 year old, it is legal for them to enter into a physical relationship.

Explicitly, no where. Implicitly, if you look at Scripture as a whole, in a few places. Wait a minute, God formed Eve out of Adam's side so I think that is a special case. Also, one could make the argument that every person on earth was at that wedding. What does this sentence mean?" All intellectual people who count take it for granted that there is no subject in heaven or earth which ought not to be investigated without any deference or reference to theological assumptions".
It means that people who care about what is really true believe without exception that the merits of every belief should be investigated.

I do not believe that this gentleman should be fired from his job because of these comments, unless what he is saying is not true. The comment cuts both ways. Your body is currently capable, but do not mistake capability with readiness. You are ready to have sex when you are ready for all of the consequences of sex. The only birth control that is 100% effective is abstinence. Do you have a job, are you ready to teach a child how to live and act. Better yet, you are ready for sex when you realize that sex doesn't have consequences, it has...

I completely agree with your point of view, excepting the fact that I believe that the homosexual act is sinful, but that is another question. People who try to prove that Jesus never existed have never examined the historical merits of His existence. It depends on how the attachment to this toy was developed. Unfortunately so many people attempt to make a point in today's world by people encouraging their children to play with toys normally associated with the opposite gender. Being in education I see it often. However, if this has not been the case, I would say that it is not necessary to take the toy away.

If every animal on earth dropped dead from a horrible disease tomorrow, and if by eating the flesh of infected animals I too would become infected, and if other people ate the flesh of those dead animals before I had the chance to, I would become a vegetarian. Although I have heard that humans taste just like chicken. I wonder what PETA members taste like?

To quote Don King, "Only in America!" That is definitely an American viewpoint, one that warps the eastern religion that it claims to get the idea from. My friend had a full funeral for his pet dog. He felt it was important to do this. Everyone thought he was nuts and laughs at it behind his back. Who is right; my friend or the ones who think he's nuts?
Well it depends, is your friend the kind of man that complains because not enough is done to help the poor? I personally think it is sort of crazy to spend money on burying a dog. It's a dog. Partly because I grew up in a farm family, where there is a clear division between family members and animals. However, as long as the guy doesn't complain about how others spend their money,...

Pride, plain and simple. People who have "uwanted" pregnancies, often think that others could not provide a good enough up bringing for a child. Part of the reason is that God is an answer to questions that go unanswered without an individual relying on faith in something. It is no different than the Big Bang theory, or macro evolution. Are we to presume that in order for Mary to be sinless we must read about her temptation? Well I suppose that although Scripture never comes straight out to say that Mary was tempted by Satan face to face.
