My 7/8 y o dog has become more affectionate the past couple of months. normally disinterested but lately he's been jumping up at us for more affection..any idea why?

Is it possible for a ghost to just visit? a while ago, we experienced something extremly scary (a decorative sword being thrown across the room) we couldn't explain - but now it just seems to have stopped. whats going on?
