I think that the fact that the media focuses on this type of crap instead of the real issues is what got us into the (GWB) mess we're in today.

Someone that i have been seeing on a semi-regular basis for a month asked if it would be OK if they were to give me a birthday card next week...does it mean anything other than wishing me a happy birthday?
I would say that they are thoughtful. :-)
I would also say, if this is a new relationship, to just let things happen and see how you feel. Too many new relationships are doomed to failure when one person tries to read too much into the other's actions.

My daughter moved back home prior to having her baby (at my request); now my grandchild is 6 months old. When is a good time for them to move out or should they stay?
I would say that, since you asked her to move in with you, you wait until she has a job, can afford a place to live, and can provide decent childcare before you ask her to move out. If she had all of these things in place, I'm sure she'd be ready to move out too.
Is the father providing any support for his child? If not, why not?

I had a customer today that said she could not tell you what her sister even looked like anymore and they live within 20 miles from each other. I don't care what one of my sibilings could do I could never disown one, could you and why?
I have a half sister that I met only once before seeing her at the hospital when our father was dying. I only learned of her existence at the age of 32.. when she was 30. My father was a controlling, abusive man, but since she didn't grow up with him (my parents were still married when he died) she put him on a pedestal. When I tried to set her straight, she went to him and told him...

Don't marry a man who doesn't accept you as you are. It will only bring you pain, trying to live up to his expectations.

I met Billy Zane on my honeymoon. He and his family were traveling in Europe & Greece after he graduated from high school in Switzerland. We were all on a small cruise ship in the Greek Islands. He told us he was going to go to Hollywood when he got home and "try and make it in the movies." That was in 1984 and he was 18.

Why no one has ever uncovered anything further about 'Jeff Gannon' aka 'James Gucker', the male prostitute who visited the White House dozens of times for purposes that have never been disclosed? What exactly was Gannon's role in the Bush White House?
Good question! Maybe the mainstream media would like to answer...but I won't hold my breath!
With previous presidents, the White House visitor's log was an open book. The Bush administration has now said that is is private, invoking executive privilege.

With the high cost of housing are we going back to several generations under one roof.. any plus?
I grew up 1500 miles from grandparents and cousins, and I feel like I missed out on a lot. If you are moving back in with parents, maybe you could do something to help your children know them better. If your kids are old enough, give them a tape recorder and encourage them to ask their grandparents questions about their lives when they were growing up. Many kids these days can't believe...

It sounds like your friend needs to do this to pump up her self-esteem.. almost like making it a contest. Maybe, next time she does this, you should give some answer like "gee, that's great" and then change the subject. Repeat as necessary until she gets the point that you don't want to compete with her.

Why would a 29y.o. man who still lives with his parents get angry at his friends who are seriously dating someone or married? Is he a loser, jealous, or both?
It is probably difficult to see his friends moving on into adulthood at a pace that he is not ready for. He sees his shortcomings. At 29, he is probably wondering if he will ever have what his friends have.

No, you don't have to invite them, but if they don't have plans, you might feel better in the long run by including them. Unless there is a valid reason to exclude your in-laws, keep family harmony by inviting them.
If you are already hosting a big crowd, four more people won't make that much more work for you. Get some of your cousins and siblings (if you have them) to help you.

Seems that news stations are FINALLY reporting on the AT&T & government spying scandal. This story was on digg MONTHS AGO. Why is it only be reported on now?
I think the reason it is getting so much press right now is because there is a class-action lawsuit in the courts right now, brought by people who were spied on through the telecoms (Verizon and Sprint were part of this too, I think.)
