If someone declared the bible was a fraud, but then admitted they never read it, nor do they ever plan to, what would you think of that?
Well... I don't mind that much, but I can imagine that many people would feel outraged by it. For those who do: This is how we who understand science, and have an education in a relevant scientific field, feel when uneducated people go on about how evolution is a lie! Those people have no idea what they're talking about (and even worse are the Young Earth Creationists)

You mean like cramps?
If it's that, stretch before going to bed and drink plenty of water.
Admitted, I'm not sure about the drinking plenty of water, but it's something my dad often advised me to do to prevent cramps, and he was a physiotherapist so I trust his word

Is there any point in being an Atheist?
That's not exactly a neutral question..
But yes, of course there is. If you're sure there's no higher being, there's no point in pretending to be religious.
I assume you come from the US - many people from there don't understand the Scandinavian approach to religion.

Are caged hamsters who run in circles getting nowhere as happy as other pets that can roam free? How do you measure 'happy' in pets?
One measure is stereotypical behaviour, which is often seen in caged animals. The animals will do the same thing all the time, like walking the same pattern in their pen. It is believed to be caused by lack of stimulation. I guess you could call that a kind of unhappiness.

Isn't it rather stupid that we, as a species, do not know WHO wrote the original 63 books of the bible, or the q'oran etc..?
Why is this posted in Animals and Wildlife? It should be posted on theology or some other category related to religion. Posting the question in a science category just isn't right.
And as for the question, we do we know the exact, original author of ANY religious text? They're just passed from person to person until someone picked the version he or she liked the best and made it canon

Evolution isn't really a discrete process, and it's pretty compound, so guessing the next single step is kind of difficult, and talking of a step doesn't even make sense, BUT,

Admitted, I scour the Denmark related questions from time to time, and I've been rather puzzled about this one several time. I don't see why logic and emotions should be mutually exclusive. Listening to your emotions does not necessarily result in irrationality from a human viewpoint, since we're all controlled by our emotions.
Logic can be at quite a loss in situations such as relationships and the conflicts you might have in them. In those situations, emotions and the resulting empathy is much more useful

How old were you when you learned there is no Santa (or baby Jesus, or whoever brings Christmas gifts in your culture)? How did you feel?
I never believed that. In denmark, we give eachother our gifts. Difficult to believe they're brought by a nisse when your parents have just put them under the tree.
I might have believed in the nisse when I was a small kid, but never as a bringer of gifts. It was a farm building spirit, living in the attic and helping you out if you fed it.

Is Denmark the happiest country on earth?
I don't know.. "happiness" is not one thing, it's also culturally determined what makes people happy, and what makes them say that they are.
I think what many Danes feel when they're asked if they're happy, is that they shouldn't be complaining. It's a pretty fundemental part of our collective mentality: Don't whine. There's people in Africa...

Swedish law: I read that they allow half-sibling and/or sibling marriage and also read the opposite. Which is it? Do they allow it or no? Do they frown upon it and "incestuous" relationships like in the West?
I VERY much doubt that's an actual law.
And.. please learn this, all of Answerbag: Sweden, and the rest of the Western Europe IS a part of the "West".
The border between the west and the "rest of the world" consists of the old Iron Curtain. Germany is also considered a Western Country, even though it was once split in a Communist and a Western half

When it comes to parenting, do you believe fear equals respect?
Fuck no...
Fear will lead to a false kind of respect, an almost militaristic kind of respect, but AS SOON as the kid realises that he's grown too old for his parents to punish him physically.. that respect will fade, and as a parent you're left with little to no control over your kid.

That doesn't really make sense.. I don't know what Indo-European languages mean, but if Norwegian and Swedish is that, Danish certainly is too.. Those two languages might be affected by other languages to, like Finnish, but remember that Sweden was under Danish rule until the 15th century or so and Norway until the 19th, if I recall correctly.

I'm an atheist and I celebrate Christmas like so many other people do. To me, and I believe the rest of my family too, it's about traditions. I don't care much about religions, but I respect my national traditions deeply.

Other people award you answers and questions with points. They have no purpose and are of pretty much no importance. You would do yourself a favor by not caring about them at all, more than a few people here are highly strung about points and consider it a personal attack when someone downrates them

For all the non-Christians and especially atheists who had friends and family over for an Easter meal or gave your kids Easter Baskets, especially the ones who call the Christians hypocrites: don't you think that's hypocritical of you?
No. I don't celebrate easter because of all the christ business. Besides, I do believe he once lived. Just not that he was the son of god, or in any way religiously interesting

If only straight people go to Heaven, I'd rather go to Hell. What's your take?
That I really don't give a damn. Neither heaven nor hell exists anyway, why waste my short, short life on speculating about what will happen once it's over?
I DO think discriminating against homosexual people is wrong, though. But there's more relevant types of discrimination going on than that in an imaginary after life world

10. These questions are as old as the concept of quizzes itself... however, I disagree with the pill question. If you need to take a pill every 30 minutes, then no matter how you look at it and when you take the first one, three pills will still last for 90 minutes. I don't think it would change the my opinion of other members much. I've got a somewhat fair idea of how intelligent those that I know well are.
Remember, there's not ONE intelligence. Most people consider logical and linguistic abilities the factors that, when combined, determines our intelligence, but they're only two of several.

I don't think my grandparents have a religion.. I've never heard them discuss it, at least. The same goes for my parents, but my mom at least does believe that Jesus once lived, just that he was an ordinary man with some new ideas.
I'd say that I've been inheriting those standpoints pretty well. I'm proud to come from a family with no apparent religious beliefs :)

I have a facebook account, because a friend invited me to join when it was still pretty new. I don't use it a lot, though, mostly to play games. So? Being drunk doesn't mean that I want to hump everything remotely female, or that I lose so much sense of reality that I don't even wonder about things like why there's a stranger in my bed.
I would probably ask her what the hell she thinks she's doing

The moderation of this site is in ruins. People moderate just to earn points, not because they actually consider the questions/answers wrong.
You should try to avoid becoming too upset if something you'd written is flagged, it happens all the time

The moon has such a great gravitational pull that it can change the tides on the earth, but it can not hold a person to it's surface. Why is that?
The gravitational force between two objects fade over distance and increases the more they weight. I assume this is the reason, as the oceans weight much more than you, but are more flexible than the solid earth. So even though the rest of the planet is being affected too, the pull is too weak to have any effect on something that solid.
The formula for the gravitational pull between two...

If alcoholism is considered a disease, why isn't caffeinism, or smoking, for that matter?
Might be because it affects other people more. If a kid's parents drink, that kid can have his or her childhood utterly destroyed, making the child dysfunctional in many ways as an adult. Smoking kills the smoker and is unhealthy to those they live with, but only on a physical level. Drinking coffee just gives you a bad breath

Answer to:
So did the good guys win?
There is no "good guys". Only by analysing the actions of each sides from a neutral standpoint can you deem one side "the good guys". That will never happen though, it'll always be a matter of who has been less cruel. Most of the time, those are the winning guys, as they were less desperate.
So in a way, you can say that the least evil guys always will win

Are those to whom evil is done more likely to do evil in return?
Very much so. Which is why fighting terroism with force makes it all worse. Everytime you kill a terrorist, you kill a daughter or son, and possibly a borther or sister. And those relatives are more likely to become terrorists themselves than they were before the person they knew was killed

Why are some people so stingy in handing out ratings is there a certain number of points we are allowed and they save these for certain people?
Many users see upratings as compliments or support from other people. Likewise, they consider downrates an insult or a message of extreme dislike and disrespect. Hence, some people, likely those who are vulnerable to negative feelings, are very sensitive about points.

Why are some men so afraid to tell a woman that she is beautiful?
For me, it has multiple reasons. Most of all simply because I'm shy, so displaying admiration like that towards people I'm not in a relationship with.
Furthermore, I often think the girl wouldn't appreciate it, because it would sound as "something I tell everybody, no matter what they look like".
Finally it's also because I don't think highly of my own...
Answer to:
What can we do to help Israel?
They really do not need much help currently.. perhaps they need help to realise they should stop killing innocent civilians, many of which are young kids. Is that truly fair. The Israelites justify it by saying that the Israeli army is there to get rid of Hamas, and as the Palatines chose Hamas, they had it coming.
My question is... did the kids choose them too?

Do you think AIDS was invented as a way of controlling the population? And do you think that there is really a cure for it that we don't know about?
What's most likely is that a monkey was infected with a mutated version (it's an RNA virus, so that happens pretty often) which made it possible for the virus to spread to humans. By some accident, it then happened, perhaps because someone killed a monkey but received a wound himself, and he got some of the monkey's blood into his veins.

Comprehensive sex education which the kids will understand is very important, probably one of the most important "subjects" in school.
