Run. Don't walk, run away from this guy. If he's making nasty remarks now, imagine what he'll do if he thinks you are looking at some other guy. If he's that insecure that he'd have to put others down in order to shore up his own ego, he's 50 miles of bad road.

Yes, I used to believe a person was either good or bad, now I realize we all have potential for both, and that the best realization is that "good" and "bad" are but labels.

It's harmful (as opposed to just a bad idea) to wrap up your self-esteem in your looks. Agree or disagree? Why?
Agreed. Any time something as critical as self valuation is based upon something transient - and face it, it's all transient, then there is bound to be a downward spiral when the house of cards caves, as it inevitably does.

How many parking tickets have you received this year?
I recently got a parking WARNING - which could have been a $34.00 ticket. Things like that happen to me all the time. The last time I got a parking TICKET - I approached the meter reader, explained why I parked there, and she voided the ticket. Then again, I have wonderful things happen to me all the time! Why should it surprise me?

First, you'll have to pay very close attention to the spelling and punctuation in the passwords. Most are case sensitive, and all must be spelled out exactly as the original and legitimate creator of the password, and sole owner of the account typed it in and verified it.
For example, in your question you used two variations of the word "password" both of which are spelled...

I'm sorry I felt compelled to downrate your question, but I did it for virtually the same reason as Athrael plus some.
Here's the rub - generally when someone signs up for a mailing list (whether legitimate or not) the list sends a verification email to the address provided. Therefore, I find it VERY difficult to believe that "someone" did this to you. If you want to...

If the teacher designates a specific reading time, then that should be the use for the time frame. The whole idea for a reading time is to encourage reading. MOSQUITO'S Does anyone know a good cheap method that works to ward off Mosquito's when on holiday. I suffer badly from bites especially on my legs and usually get bitten in the evenings. I have tried numerous remedies some of which are very expensive.
Tuck snippets of fresh basil in sweatbands worn on head and wrists. Tuck more in the top of socks, and anywhere else it will stay. Rub some on exposed skin. I understand from an organic farmer that this method works great, and basil is easy to grow and inexpensive.

Does "thou shalt not judge" make us all sinners for being AB members?
Very interesting question. I am using AB for my own purpose to get in the habit of being LESS judgmental. I endeavor to find ways to answer questions in a kind and compassionate fashion, and to remember I was once young, or not so knowledgeable about the ways of love, or not so aware of the traps we can lay out for ourselves. The decision to attend your grandfather's funeral is one best made by you and your family and it would be irresponsible of me to tell you what you SHOULD do. Homosexuality is a definition of human sexual contact where the genders of the participants happen to be the same. Just that, and only that.

At one sitting? Or like, over a week's time, some done with oh, I don't know... a satay, and some done up in tacos.
Seriously. It would be relevant to add what sort of environment you were referring to. Like, if it was a cattery, and it was clean, ventilated, the cats were well fed, saw a veterinarian regularly, then no, 40 cats in a well cared for situation is entirely reasonable.

Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural?
I think it might be because bra is a shortened form of brassiere, a French word. Panties is a cutesy variation of underpants - which describes how they are worn, as in under pants. Pant is sometimes a singular, and then there are trousers, which I've never seen as simply trouser unless used in conjunction with another word, like trouser snake. But now I've gone rather far afield, I...

Yea!!!! Another vegetarian!!! Funny, a friend showed me a photo of me from 5 years ago, and I was enormous - lost a ton when I resumed my vegetarian ways. I've dropped even more when I went vegan.

If bad judgment was a crime, would you be in prison?
Excellent question! I've been working VERY hard on being less judgmental, and more forgiving. While I was in prison, I'd throw myself on the mercy of the Court and beg the Governor for clemency. Which, on its face, would be similar to the guy who murders his parents and throws himself on the mercy of the Court because he's an orphan. ; >

I'm trying to remember to see them as they are, that is, through the eyes of G-d, as perfect human beings. I am trying to view their meanness as coming from a place of insecurity or fear, and that makes me better able to respond in a positive fashion and keeps my blood pressure normal.

I believe that most who offer "biblical proof" that this or that action is bad, are overlooking the 1000 verses that contradict what they offer up as tangible evidence. Is it okay for a joke to be offensive as long as it is funny?
No. It is not. You never ever know who might be listening, reading, or aware of an offensive "joke" that could be hurtful to them, or someone they love. Offensive jokes are just that, offensive. Even if they are only heard by someone you are CERTAIN would find it "funny" it is offensive that you'd have to search out said individual and be circumspect about who...

I'd rather be stupid. Being rude would mean I was cognizant of choosing to be rude, and for me, that is the equivalent of choosing to be mean spirited. Being mean spirited is about the worst hell on earth I could figure out to wish upon my worst enemy.

When I see people with dogs out of control. I cannot get every dog owner in the world to commit to getting proper training prior to obtaining a dog, and I want all dogs to have good homes. Yes, I received two loving telephone calls before 8am, followed by meeting two girlfriends and attending a knockout good church service. It depends upon the state, and the status of his legal address. If your boyfriend has that address on - for example, his license, and other legal doc's you may be in for a fight.

No. There is no way that children viewing an emotionally abusive spouse abuse the other parent and grow up emotionally balanced and secure. Are you for or against the death penalty?
I believe it is wrong for a number of reasons.
That said, from a strictly pragmatic point, we'd save lots of money by issuing life sentences rather than putting someone on death row because it is less costly to maintain prisoners in the general population than death row inmates who, among other massive expenses, are guaranteed a certain amount of automatic appeals for which we must...

To you, what is the worst type of discrimination?
It's all terrible. Discrimination is simply judging another based on some physical aspect that cannot be changed or perceived "trait" that is in some way troubling to another. Judging others is something I try to avoid. It's hurtful for the judged and judgment maker alike. To the person discriminated against, it's unfair. To the person passing judgment, it's...

Does any one think that the media, in general, is brain washing our children with oversexed and violent images? or do you think that it is the parents that is at fault for allowing this to happen?
I think the media has figured out (and it's been going on my entire life) that sex sells products and is just continuing to do what works. There's not a lot of new stuff under the sun.
I think it is the responsibility of parents to monitor and ration the amount of TV time. Too many let the TV take over the role of caregiver, in my opinion.

Is it racist that my local bus company runs a concessionary bus scheme only for ethnic minorities but doesn't run one for me, who isn't in an ethnic minority?
Do you mean they give a discounted rate to people of color, for example? Are you sure it isn't based on need?
I'm unclear who the individual who suggested reporting this would suggest who to report it to. Is it a county bus line?
Answer to:
I'm so going to be DR-ed for this -- if we are supposed to be all equal as humans, and the purpose of equality is to NOT single out any group for any reason... what is the purpose of minority celebrations, i.e. Black History Month, or Disney's "Gay Day"?
I believe the purpose of equality is to treat each culture, indeed, each person equally. It isn't supposed to homogenize everyone into a massive melting pot of sameness. By not singling out someone for "different" rules and opportunities (rules like same sex couples not being able to get health insurance for their partners or, as in the past, African Americans having to sit at...

Answer to:
What's been your biggest influence in making you a better writer?
Continued learning and practice to improve my craft. I attend writer's conferences and talk to other writers. I also find editing and critiquing their stuff improves MY stuff.
Answer to:
Do you have an "absolutely must" literary habit? Example: do you HAVE TO have that favorite pen and a coffee in your special mug before you write anything? Or do you HAVE TO freewrite on a yellow paper?
I have many rituals, from burning sage, to reading How To books on writing, to writing three pages in longhand. I keep an excel spreadsheet of my word count (how's that for being wrapped too tight?)
I don't like pencils, or yellow legal pads. I always use the same type of pens, Pilot Precise Ball-writers or Pilot P700 in fine point.
Most of my writing, like RedHawk's is...
Answer to:
What's a good cure for writers block?
I use rituals. I do the 3 pages of longhand to get the junk out of my head to make room for new ideas. I deal out a card from The Observation Deck and use that as incentive to do some small improvement on something I'm revising. I take long walks with 2 dogs handled like briefcases beside me. I sit my butt down in my "button chair" (butt in chair - get it?)and insist on doing...
Answer to:
Have you ever had ANYTHING published, if so, what and give a brief synopsis?
Yes, I have.
1. I have had a short story published in a hunting dog magazine (print!) and was paid $250.00 for it.
2. My first novel made it to the top ten and stayed there for nearly a year on a writer's site.
3. I've won several contests with several short stories.
4. My comments regarding a friend's novel are on her jacket cover.

Please, write a paragraph about the night, if you dare?
Night creeps in on bended knee bearing gifts of dreams - of magically transforming me into a flight attendant with an emergency shift at a strange airport in less than an hour; of beasts struggling for world domination on the roof of my house; of recollections misremembered from a childhood a half century ago. Nightly, I surrender to the siren call of night's promise of entertainment and...

I love story chains. I wanna try to keep this going so write as much as you'd like and as often as you'd like. ~ The young girl crouched over the hole. She peered into the darkness and swore.....
she'd never seen a mole that large, not to mention one that glowed in the dark like this one. She wondered if it were an alien life form or perhaps it was radioactive. Perhaps she'd stumbled upon some new species. She didn't have the first clue that this discovery would put her in the public spotlight - exactly what she needed to avoid if she were to stay alive!

Do you like writing short stories?
Yes, I love writing short stories. I like writing GOOD short stories, and am constantly working to perfect my craft. In the famous words of Mark Twain, if I had more time, I'd write a shorter story.
What I really love is when someone actually READS my short stories - and when I get paid for writing them.

Wow! That's terrible. I'd be careful if I had released any personal info to this character. Sorry you got a bad case of kicking the stove (at least it sounds like that.)

If you were going to write a Fictional thriller where would you place the setting and why?
In a locale I was very familiar with, so I could accurately describe it. You know, write what you know, and all that.
Answer to:
I need to write some historical fiction story for class. I need help on coming up with a good topic. It can be recent as well. Im open for all ideas.
Can you "interview" someone from your past? Like an ancestor - the person doesn't actually have to still be alive, you could simply write what you think that person would say if you had met them and asked such things as:
1. So what was life like on a whaling ship sailing from Fall River in the mid 1800's. The questions seem to be almost endless for me.
Good luck!
Answer to:
How to get started writing a novel?
There are tons of other writers out there who will be happy to help. I also recommend reading Story by Robert McKee. It applies to screenwriting, but the basic stuff is there for novels, short stories, or any other fiction writing.
Write what you know.
Study stuff you like and figure out what it is about the book or story that captured you.
Good luck!

In some instances I have met a man and these men are functional business people but after they met me (a woman) they got nuts. They would call me 3/4 times a day, watch for when I come on the computer and accuse me of basically being a whore.
So, what is the question? You don't tolerate people speaking like that to you, do you? Please say no.
Answer to:
My boyfriend will try to start arguments over anything. If I don't answer him like he wants or do what he wants at any point he shoves me or starts breaking things in the house. He'll take a baseball bat and hits my things off the balcony. This abuse?
Yes, it most certainly IS abuse and you should seriously run as fast and far as your feet will carry you away from this potentially lethal situation. Clearly this person has an anger management problem. Get some help and for crying out loud, talk to someone about getting some help with your lack of self esteem. Do you think anyone deserves to be treated so shabbily?
Answer to:
Would you purchase a taser for personal protection?
No. I think it's asking for trouble. Like a gun, it can be taken from me and used to subdue me - making me the victim of my own stupidity if I were to buy one.

Why do alot of women think they deserve a huge diamond just for getting married to a man?
Because the diamond industry has had an ad campaign for a long time that goes something like: buy her a diamond that is equal to 3 months salary. This is a signal to all of her friends that she's marrying a guy who can support her well, financially.
It's another one of those traditions I'd like to see go away - far away.

Body Worlds caused quite an uproar when it was exhibited in my hometown. It is my understanding that the bodies were those donated to science, and many were corpses of previously homeless people.
Take a look and let me know what YOU think about the exhibit.

In the name of free speech, shouldn't antiwar groups have the same access to schools, malls, and other areas that the recruiters have? Each group can hand our their pamphlet's and everyone can get a clear idea of what enlistment really means.
I believe they should have the same access. I've participated in peace rallies near a prominent shopping center near here, called BayWalk. The police have been oh so subtle about making us move and then blocking traffic, rerouting it so that we are defeated by the way the traffic flows.
There's nothing to be done about it, they win by might = right.

What do you say instead of "I love you"? Too often those words are loaded in a relationship, yet the intended meaning could be simple and affectionate.
My S/O and I rarely SAY I love you, preferring to believe that actions speak louder than words. I'm convinced every day by the way he always calls, always is there when I need him, always is kind and acts in a loving respectful fashion, that he loves me deeply.
I wish my adult daughter and grandchildren would demonstrate their affections for me rather than the way they treat me, and...

My 4 year old Akita has been sneezing a lot lately, with phlegm coming from her nose. Is this just a cold or could it be something more serious?
You got two good answers. If it were my dog, s/he would be seen by a vet - soon!
Answer to:
If I have a cold, will simply blowing my nose and coughing out the phlegm help "cure" my sore throat and all that? Or is it just one big endless cycle?
It's my experience that a common cold will last 2 weeks without medical intervention and 14 days if you see your doctor. ; >
IOW, it's just going to run its course.
Treat the symptoms - drink plenty of clear fluids, like water and tea with honey for your throat and get plenty of rest. Wash your hands a lot. And please avoid going to school or work and exposing the rest of us!...

My period is due today but I don't have any symptoms that it will. How long should I wait until taking a pregnancy test?
That depends on whether there is any chance of pregnancy!
It is also conceivable (sorry - it was there!) that you may be off a couple of days, especially if you have a BMI that is very low. It sometimes is an indicator of an eating disorder when one skips a period (or several.)
Best to you. I hope this info helps.
Answer to:
How can I train my 4 month old dog to not defecate/urinate in the house?
Use positive reinforcement, just as you would when encouraging a child in potty training. Think of it like that, like when a child successfully potties in the appropriate place (the toilet) you would tell them they are a good boy/girl, right? Do the same with your dog. Feed the puppy breakfast, then take him/her for a walk - (bring a plastic bag or two, you'll need it!) Expect success in...

My dad used to tussel with our old dog and she would clamp her jaw on his hand very softly. she was NEVER vicious and always very gentle when they would play together. how could i teach a dog to do that without hurting me?
It depends upon the individual dog's personality. I always recommend against allowing any mouthing by all of my dogs. It's just good sense to not take chances.
For the record, I've been training and showing dogs in conformation and obedience for many years. I've rescued at least 25 dogs of various breeds. Currently I am owned by a champion standard poodle and a mixed...

Suggest options for presenting information to an audience
It would depend upon the size of the audience, the alloted time, and the material to be presented. If I were able to use a PowerPoint demo, for example, I might utilize that. If it were a classroom situation where there was not the ability or the time, I might just use a chart or a hand-out of the key details.

I have been seperated from my wife for over 2 years and have moved to another state since the seperation, do I still need to get a divorce or is the relationship just over? Also I have no idea where she lives anymore.
Of course you would need to divorce this person if you ever wish to marry another person. Marriage is, beyond the moral and religious ceremony, a contractual and legally binding contract.
That you don't know where she lives is totally irrelevant. You should consult with an attorney in the state of residence, and s/he can advise you about how to proceed to file.

What is a reasonable cuefew for a 19 year old boy living at home.
I'd say since he's living at home that you have every right to expect him to be reasonable and come home when it is convenient for you. If you are awakened by him coming in at night, for example, and you need your sleep to get to work in the morning, that he respect that and abide by your request - whatever you deem reasonable.

Are you capable of loving two people at the same time?
Yes. Of course there is more than one person out there for each of us. It also goes without saying that in any and every love relationship, one person loves the other one more. I remember feeling that way, and frittered away over 7 years with a person who was never going...

My advice is to run in the opposite direction of this boy - run fast. You are 12. This should be a time in your life of sports, school, friends, and fun. This is not an appropriate time for any version of sex. I doubt seriously that anyone is ready at age twelve for the emotions that any form of sexual activity include.

Suppose you were faced with the decision to buy one of two diamonds. One diamond was very beautiful, but had numerous internal flaws not visible to the naked eye. The other was near flawless but was "okay" and pretty in appearance. Which one do you pick?
I would likely choose the more "perfect" diamond, for its ability to hold its value for the long haul. Personally, my decision would be based upon which diamond was certified as conflict free - that is, originated from a place of peace. I wouldn't want to wear a diamond or own a diamond that I suspected had been the cause of suffering of those who mined it.

OH that brings back memories! I was riding in the back of a pick up, and I was about 7 years old. We were on our way to a day at the beach in Cape Cod. We stopped and I leaned around to ask my mom to buy something for me in a drugstore. She opened the door at the exact wrong second and chipped my front tooth off. It hurt like a bugger - and pretty much ruined my day.

How do I teach my poodle to cross a tightrope?

Is there anything unhealthy about having a long pause in menstrual cycle at a young age?
I would wonder if the young woman might be too thin. When one's ratio of body fat is too low, menses stop. I'd agree with the first person answering that I'd have the young lady checked by a physician.
