About me: I'm 55 years old and a U.S. citizen. I live with my partner of 23 years and three cats in a 113 year-old house that I love very much. I work as a graphic designer and editor. I have an incredibly broad range of interests and pursuits, and find the world to be a sometimes happy, sometimes sad, but always infinitely fascinating place.

Like most of us, I suppose, I'm on a lifelong quest for truth. I despair of ever really finding it, but the journey is fulfilling in its own right.

I'm a bit of a study in contrasts as you may see from my answers and comments on AB. I tend toward civility and compassion and try to understand various points of view. I can, however, be very opinionated in my own right, particularly when it comes to issues of social justice and human rights and responsibilities. And woe betide if I perceive bullying, bigotry or unwarranted rudeness. My honeyed words can turn sharp and salty-tongued on a dime. Yeah, I've got a bit of a temper, but also a, sometimes-warped, sense of humor at the seeming absurdity of our precious human life.

Regarding friend requests: I will gladly add you as a friend. But I have to warn you that just because you like one of my answers may not mean you like another. And, as noted above, I can be quite tart when really ticked off. ;) So, if seeing me be that way, or taking an unpopular position might disturb you, you might want to reconsider. I hope not, though. We're all human (well, most of us) and friendship is more about simply agreeing on all things, even on AB. :)

My name is an alternate spelling of "khepera." Khepera is the name of an ancient Egyptian deity, symbolized by the scarab beetle. It is also an ancient Egyptian word, meaning "becoming" or "to become." It reminds me that I am not static. Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually I am always (hopefully) growing and becoming.

As far as my spiritual inclinations go, I consider myself a student of comparative religion, a mystic, and if a label needs to be put on it you could consider me an agnostic theist. No caps necessary. ;) If you really must categorize me, you might consider me a neo-Pagan Hermeticist, with deep Buddhist leanings.
