What should be the heartbeat rate for a 20 year old 2 minutes after an intense boxing workout?
Well the only you could know is if you compare to other 20 yr olds after the same excertion. Calculate your % max heart rate. 220-minus your age (20) = 200 max hear rate. Lets say your heart rate was 170 after 2 mins of constant punching. Thats 170/200= .85 (85%) Now lets say you've been training for a few more weeks. This time your heart rate after the same situation is 160. 160/200= .80...

What are some good songs to work out to, what songs do you work out to?
Whatever gets you motivated to work out first of all. Past that I've read articles that if you listen to softer music before you work out it will relax you and deepen your breathing, which is great for a hard workout, whereas harder music will tend to get people more tense and have a more aggressive attitude in the gym. I've tried listening to soft music on my way to the gym ( about...

I don't like the protein shakes before bed and wanted to know when I mix creatine and glutamine in a class of 0 Calories and 0 Carb Cool Aid is that benefiting me in any way?
Not as much as you would probably want it too, Anything you need to get into your muscles needs a tranport. Although your body does absorb the creatine and glutamine woithout sugar. sugar will help increase the absorbtion of the creatine and glutamine. Try mixing it into something non-acidic like grape juice. The anti oxidants in grape juice will also help creatine uptake. Drink whatever...

I play sports and have developed big muscles around my legs. Is it possible to reduce the size of the muscles for slimmer legs?
I get this all the time, Im guessing your probably a girl who thinks that her legs are too big. I don't mean to offend you if I have. Anyway in theory you could lose the muscle in your legs by restricting your calorie intake and your body will eat up some muscle. In my experience though the girls that I have trained with your problem ( although they did have well developed quadriceps and...
Answer to:
Whats the best abdomen and or thigh exercise on a trampoline or on the floor?
On a trapmoline just jumping will strengthen your abdominals (part of your core). Although if you really want to strengthen the abdominals a trampoline is not the best choice in my opinion. As for the floor, regular crunches are great, and you can put one leg onto the opposite knee for the obliques. you could do leg raises for the lower portion of the abs ( lie on your back with hands under...

What regular maintenance and cleaning should I do to make sure my bike keeps running smoothly?
If you're lazy (and unfortunatle most people are) at least keep your drivetrain ( chain, front and back gears and workings) free of grime. It will really extend the health of your bike and keep your bikes performance at the near optimal level. optimal level would be the whole bike being cleaned as explained on this same page.
Answer to:
Why should I wear a helmet when mountain biking and how do I choose a good helmet?
Besides keeping your brain from looking like scrambled eggs after an screw up. helmets can serve a good purpose for pushing branches and some nasty overhanging foliage out of your way instead always trying to duck them. Especially if they're any kind of bush that has thorns, they can really tear up your forhead if you don't wear a helmet.
Answer to:
Hard Tail or Full Suspension?
Also to add to kevin's answer. If you new to mountain biking, buy a hard tail bike, full suspension bikes tend to let inexperienced riders cheat a little more on the downhills/uphills. Learn all the riding techniques on a hard tail, master them, and you'll be surprised how much better you can do a double suspension.

Also it helps to learn how your bike reacts to things, roots, ruts, bumps, etc. with enough practice your body will get accustomed to "riding the trail and not your bike" preventing you from endoing ( end over end )

Answer to:
Are there special techniques to decending on a mountain bike?
ALWAYS SCOUT THE DOWNHILL BEFORE YOU PLUNGE! A hidden root or rut etc. could ruin your day and possibly your bike. As for bike techniques, keep your butt over your seat and slightly to the rear. The steeper the hill the father back you butt should be. In my own experience your body tends to follow your eyes. I.E. look to where you want to go, and let your body and the bike handle the rest.

Answer to:
What brand of mountain bike is the most reliable?
I ride a Specialized, and really never have any problems. I ride a lot, and on real mountain bike trails. It really depends on the use you are planning on putting on your bike. If you are a casual rider ( around town, flat trails, etc.) then a $150-300 bike from Target or some other department store will do fine. If you plan on riding some beginner trails which are typically harder on the bike...
