Answer to:
How have you ruined a romantic moment in the past?
There was a mixtape on that my new boyfriend had given me, and Elton John's 'Daniel' came on. I couldn't contain my laughter (for some reason this was hilarious to me at that moment). He was greatly offended, and the romance was out the window.

I think what truly matters is what kind of person you are, not how you dress/look. I like it when people use their style as artistic expression, whatever the style may be.

What are some creative uses for wire coathangers?
Not really original, but I have made several 'mobiles' out of them. If you paint the coathanger, and twish tup the shape of it, you can barely tell what it was in a former life. You can hang all kinds of things from them, and they can be quite pretty.

Everytime I try to talk to a girl, I get instantly rejected when they see me(I'm not attractive AT ALL). I don't know what to do....help?
I think it's better to build a friendship with people first. Then, whatever your looks might be, the person has gotten to know YOU. A girl who is not shallow, and actually wants to date a nice guy, just might say yes if you have proven yourself to be the kind of person she likes. When I was younger, I dated several boys who weren't considered 'attractive', but their...

Have you ever had a garage sale? If yes, any advice?
I just did, a few weeks back, in an established yearly 'neighborhood' yard sale event. There were newspaper ads, signs, and it was still a bust! In two days, hardly anything sold, and everyone in the neighborhood had the same experience. I then drove the 'rest' to the Goodwill and was met with 50 other people doing the same thing. I am not exaggerating. People are claiming...

Women: For those who refuse to allow a man to have anal sex with you what are your legitimate reasons?
What makes a reason 'legitimate'? I would think that the fact that a person's body is his/her own makes their choices regarding it legitimate. If it's not something that someone wants to do, they don't need any other reason.

Ok, so I was at the beach today, and my buddy's wife had this thong on... I was just admiring the fine quality of the thong, and he got offended, they are married, is he insecure, or , am I a perv?
I think his issue should be with his wife in this case. If he has a problem with other men looking at her, he should ask her to reserve her thong-wearing for private times. If she doesn't want to, that's between them. If you were gawking and drooling, or being somehow obnoxious about it, I could see him telling you to knock it off. However, if he's truly offended, he's...

I haven't, no, but would in the future. A close friend of mine has had all three of her children at home (with a midwife present). Is it odd today for the Mother to return back to work after maturnaty leave even though she's not a single mother?
I think it's pretty normal in our society for women to return to work (single or not) soon after their babies are born. I, personally, wouldn't wish to do so. Why is it most people's initial reaction to blame the person their s/o had the affair with before they realize that it was really their s/o other who had the commitment not to mess around? It is illogical to blame an innocent 3rd party.
The third party may or may not be completely innocent, depending on their level of awareness of the other person's relationship status. However, ultimately, the betrayal is between the one who is in the committed relationship and the person being cheated on. That being said, the situation is truly disrespectful to all involved. Nobody wins, do they?

Why are materialistic people seen as being less worthy than others?
I don't see materialistic people as being 'less worthy' at all. I simply don't understand their drive to have 'things' and/or status symbols (labels, brands, big house and car). That is because I do not desire those same things in life. I think everyone is 'worthy' of compassion and respect, whether I understand them or not.

I had my wedding and reception at the same place. I think it's easier on the guests not to have to drive to another place (especially for those from another city, state, or country). A wedding is a celebration of your union, not an event meant to fit other people's standards. Do what YOU want, and they can take it or leave it! Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

There are so many people now who are not of one race, that it really seems to matter less and less as time goes on. If it's not going to take down the family finances, and if it fulfills a partners 'dreams', why not? Money is not the only means of measuring success.

How hurt would you feel if you were accused of not loving your s/o and would you ever forgive the person who made the false accusation?
I wouldn't feel hurt unless it was my s/o making the accusation. If someone on the outside of our relationship suggested that I didn't love my husband, we would probably both wonder what their agenda was. I might determine that I don't want anything to do with someone who is trying to hurt my marriage.

If you picked up your infant from daycare & the babies right arm is covered in bite marks (10 to be exact) and the owner says she has a little boy who is biting would you only have a talk with the daycare owner or with the parent of the child also?
I would definitely talk to the daycare owner. Why was your child bitten repeatedly? I ran a daycare, and one bite could occur in a setting where the kids are well-watched. After the first time it occurred, the 'biter' should have been monitored better. After the second bite, the parents of the biter should have been called. Biting is dangerous, and many childcare centers will not...

Certainly. I recall my mother babysitting so I could see a movie, when my son was just a tiny baby. I had to leave the theater mid-way through the film because I was anxious about being away from my baby.

Please tell me if you think this is awful. My daughter got a brand new backpack 1/2 way through the school year. She tore it up. I'm making her use it till the end of the year, even though she has her new one for next year.
As long as it was a good quality backpack in the beginning, I think it's okay. She needs to learn to respect the things you buy for her. Some of the backpacks they sell these days are not strong enough for all the books and things that kids need to carry, but if you feel the backpack was destroyed by her own negligence of abuse, you are not being awful.

Most of our grocery budget goes to fresh items! We buy some dry goods in order to make things like bread, pizza dough, etc. We do a great deal of our shopping at outdoor farmer's markets in the warmer months, and what we find there inspires our meals for the week. :)

Is 'happiness' a goal?
Nah... it's a feeling. I feel it or I don't. I don't have goals like that. My goals involve doing what is right for me, and happiness often follows.
Answer to:
In conversation, do you really listen when others talk or think about what you'll say next?
I try to listen so I have a complete picture of what the other person is trying to convey. If I were thinking about what to 'say next', I could miss the point entirely.
Answer to:
Which parts of your life are good and which suck?
Pretty much all of it is good. I wouldn't say that any of my life 'sucks'. There are moments that aren't the best, and there are things I do that I do not always relish. However, I have my needs met, a healthy family, and I would hesitate to complain about anything! So many in the world have it much worse than I.
Answer to:
"White supremacists" dislike more than just non-Whites. They also dislike certain groups of White folks. I do not know that much about that aspect of "white supremacy". What groups of White folk do they dislike and why?
Deep down, the group of folks they must dislike is themselves. Noone who loves him or herself carries that kind of hatred in their hearts.

I guess I wouldn't find it odd to see anyone driving any kind of car. I think it's kind of bizarre that cars are labeled 'chick cars'. I know men who drive Mini Coopers and VW bugs. A pink Mary Kay Cadillac might be a bit odd for a man to drive, but who am I to judge?

Give her your love by respecting her wishes. Some people need alone time when they are having a rough patch. Be sure to let her know that you are there for her anytime, and that you won't love her any less for the time she spends apart from you.

Answer to:
Why can't I get over turning 30?
I have no idea. My thirties have been the best years of my adult life, so far. If you buy into the pop culture idea that only the young can be beautiful and have fun, then you're going to get more depressed each year. I don't believe in that. I think I get more attractive as I get older, and enjoy my life more because of my ability to handle things as they come. I say quit worrying...

Given the sheer number of people on this site that ask medical questions (human or veterinary), do you think that the human race is getting dumber as a whole? If they follow the advice of whomever feels like answering, they can't be very smart.
Do you think it has to do with intelligence, or with the inability to pay for a doctor's care? There are, obviously, questions that make one wonder. It's easy to find out if you are pregnant or not, for example. That being said, there is usually a free nurse's hotline in most cities. I would suggest that people direct their human medical questions there!

You cannot control what another person chooses to do or not do. If he does not wish to respond to you right now, you should do your best to respect his wishes. I'm certain that it is difficult and painful for you, but the sooner you let it go, the better. Best of luck.

Why do i get upset when my friends life is turning out for the best. I really wish them all the best but i want to be happy for them and not end up being miserable over my own life instead?
It sounds like you are measuring yourself against your friends. There is no reason to compare their lives to your own. You have the power to create positives in your own life, and focusing on other people is probably holding you back. Take some time to look at all of the positive things in your own life. Make a list of things you want to do or achieve, and set out to make it happen.

If my husband and I were going to argue over things like this, we'd be fighting all the time. Perhaps you both acted a little immaturely?

You are a great parent. Everyone says so. You are proud when they tell you. One day your much loved child says "I am gay. I never told you because I was scared of how you would react." How do you feel and what did you do wrong?
I would feel sorry that my child felt this way. I have always taught my child that people are equal and valuable, despite their differences. I would be very surprised if my child withheld his sexuality from me based on fear. As a parent, my child could have this fear even if I did nothing wrong. I think it must be a very scary thing to tell your family, even if your family is accepting,...

I've been "batching it" (w/o a relationship) longer this time since I left mom & dad's in '73. So I was wondering: Is there any 'benefit' to removing the dishes before urinating in the sink? ;-)
I would think moving them would allow the urine to go down the drain, where as the dishes in the sink could create little dams or pockets for the urine to pool in. That could create a more unpleasant smell, so I would move the dishes. Heck, you could go really crazy and wash them!

As a former retail employee, I try to respect that there are folks who need to clean up and get home! I think the closest I would 'cut it' would be 4:45, unless it was an absolute emergency and I needed to rush to the pharmacy or something.

No, not at all. My husband married one another because we love and respect who each other is.
I think when I was younger, I was more willing to spend time and energy on those types of relationships. At this point in my life, I have accepted who I am and only work on changing things that I, myself, think need improvement.

I suggest a change in his diet, if you haven't done so all ready. It does not work for all children, but some children do respond to the removal of dyed foods from their diets. Limiting sugars is also known to be a big help. Limit your child's time spent watching television, playing video games, etc. This kind of activity is actually overstimulating if done too often.

Definitely both. I do research for school, read about topics that interest me personally, and take any info that presents itself to me. Sometimes it is the info that takes me by surprise that leads me to question or research a topic further.

I finally got the courage to tell my ex the truth and that I have only slept with one guy before him, (making it two) But he didnt believe me and called me a liar. He believes other people and wont trust me. I love him and What can I do?
It sounds like he has some serious issues. If he doesn't trust you now, he probably never will. It's really not his business how many relationships you had before him, as long as you are sexually healthy and committed to him NOW. If he doesn't get that, I suggest you move on, as hard as that might be.

There are actually plenty of poor people who are well-groomed and dress nicely. That is a matter of personal pride, not reserved for those with money. Perhaps she was on her way to a job interview. Another possible scenario is that she may have had her purse stolen (money, keys, cellphone gone!) and needed to get home! Any of us could get caught in that situation. Who knows?! Ask her what SHE feels comfortable with. You didn't raise her, but she is still (in some way) your daughter. You can introduce her by her name if that is what makes you most comfortable. If you are introducing her to people who you feel comfortable sharing the details with, you can tell them that she is the daughter you gave up for adoption and that you were blessed with her finding you!...

He wrote thousands of songs into old notebooks as a young man. One day, those notebooks went missing. Soon after, the songs began appearing as top 40 hits for various bands. He now sits in his chair and listens to his songs, songs that made many rich and famous. He laments the fact that he didn't see clear enough to copyright them.

I don't think we can blame this solely on the people who bought the homes. I feel that the lenders share a huge part of the responsibility for this problem. It would most likely depend on the event, but I think I would. If it gave me an opportunity to speak to a multitude of people about an issue that truly affects us all (because I live and think globally, that could be any number of things!). I think if there is oppression in the world, starvation, etc, why not use a highly publicized event to get the word out?!

Both are important, but I believe one would require self worth before experiencing actual self confidence. There are those who seem quite confident, but lack self worth. Those people are not truly confident at all.

Do we have a responsibility to only eat organic food in order that we do not pollute the food chain?
I actually believe that organic farmers should receive a government subsidy or some kind of tax break (or something!), to encourage more farms to 'go organic'. The higher quantity of organic goods available means a more saturated marketplace, which could significantly lower the prices. Retailers should be encouraged to sell these foods at more comparable prices, whenever possible.

I grew up with a sister who has Cerebral Palsy. Many of her friends had disabilities, as well. I also had the opportunity to work with physically and mentally challenged people at different times in my life. Much like the rest of us, they are unique individuals, but also just want to be treated like anyone else. I give no second thoughts to doing just that! :)

Only he knows if he likes you or not. The real question is, why are you looking for love outside of your marriage? If you do 'love' this man, why would you want to put him in the horrible position of being 'the other man'? Work on your marriage, or get a divorce. THEN start worrying about who 'likes' you. You aren't respecting anyone involved, including yourself.

Is bell hooks any relation to Captain Hook?
Yes, it is a little known fact that Captain Hook is the great-grandfather of this African American feminist writer. Captain Hook started the family activism after retiring from trying to capture and kill Peter Pan (he did not die, as may have been suggested). No, in reality the Captain went on to write several books, including the much lauded "Shiver Me Timbers, Pirates and Self...

My answer would remain constant, probe or no. I would definitely tell my husband right away! He would probably be sympathetic, and then his 'jealousy' at not having been their chosen specimen would emerge! :)

No, I would not. I have a very modest ring, and would want nothing more. The ring is merely a symbol of his love and commitment to me. The price is irrelevant. In fact, I would be more upset to find out that he spent a lot on it.

When do we start teaching kids that cheating is wrong? Do we let them get away with it while in school, then hope they learn as adults? With the proliferation of homework questions on here, when do we start saying, this is how, now do it yourself?
I raised my son to know that cheating was never okay, from as early as he could understand the concept. I really didn't let him win at games. The kid won enough without my help! Cheating gets you nowhere. That being said, there are brilliant people who are not great test takers. I think our educational system should be set up to help different people learn in different ways. The word 'allow' doesn't come into play, but would I be OKAY with this? Yes. I have and would again. I might even go with him, if I thought it would help. I trust my husband, and admire his desire to help others. We both have friends who are male and female, and wouldn't limit one another in this way.

Is complete honesty in the workplace good, bad, or career suicide?
I think if it pertains to your work, or to the office, it can be good. That being said, if it pertains to your personal life, and the personal lives of others, it can certainly be bad. I think there is a time and place for 'complete honesty', and your employers, employees, and co-workers should only have the right to know about things work-related.

How much does a civil ceremonies (marrige) cost usually?
First you have the cost for the marriage license, which I believe cost us $15. In some states, you will also have to pay for blood tests. You can get an officiant for around $100, in our area, at least. Those are the only costs that you would incur, aside from 'extras' like rings, clothing, etc. I don't think I am forgetting anything.

I think a dog can bark at 8am with impunity. Like Athrael said, the family has probably left it for the day, and cities generally don't do anything about barking dogs during the day.

I don't want to have sex with anyone outside my marriage, but that is just me.
Transsexuals are human beings with hearts and minds like the rest of us. Whatever conflict they have dealt with concerning their anatomy is their own. I have great respect for those who choose to live as 'themselves', whatever gender they feel they 'should have been' born as. I think...

My live in boyfriend still receives phone calls and text messages from an old girlfriend. He states that he doesn't want to tell her about me because he does not want to hurt her and that I shouldn't be upset that I am just jealous. Should I let this go?
I, personally, would be pretty uncomfortable with the fact that he is still talking to her, but not telling her about your relationship. If he is committed enough to live with you, he can show you the respect of telling his ex that he is doing so. It is disrespectful to BOTH you and the old girlfriend and it's also dishonest. The only person he is protecting is himself.

I have all ready made that choice, and it was a no-brainer for me. We had a very simple wedding. Nothing fancy. We spent under a thousand dollars. Most of those who attended said it was one of the loveliest and most intimate wedding that they had been to. Going into debt for one day of your life doesn't make sense. It is the marriage that should matter, not the fanfare.

Certainly, that is true. However, there are those who use their faith as a reason to work hard and be responsible. I think whatever someone's personal belief system might be, they are ultimately responsible for their lives. What inspires them to take that responsibility (or not) is dependent on the individual, and religion is not the ultimate issue.

It's 'really messed up', yes. It sounds like your husband-to-be has control issues. If you marry him, those issues become yours as well. You would not have answered this question if you didn't think this was...
Answer to:
Why do some mothers state their babies age in months when they are over a year old? Example my cousin said her baby was 22 months old instead of a year and 10 months.
To me, it is because it is the 'norm'. Children under two are developing very rapidly and a month can make a huge difference. It is often easier to remember how many months your child is. Once a child is two, most stop going by month, when proclaiming 'age'.
I will also note that, at least in the US, children's clothing (up to size 2) is sized by 'months',...

Does AB allow questions from one member to make a mockery of other members faiths? It is a constant barrage of insulting questions and I find it offensive.
I don't believe it is allowed, no. I contacted AB yesterday due to some questions that started off 'innocent enough', but led to hateful Anti-semitic rants in the comments.
I, too, find those kinds of questions offensive. It is counterproductive and hate mongering, in my opinion.

What do you think of infomercials (those 30 minute TV shows to entice you to buy ONE THING)?
I don't watch much television, and never watch infomercials. They are of no use to me. If I am in need of a specific product or service, I do my own research until I find the one right for me. I would never buy something because of 'infomercial testimonials'.

My baby and dog always piss on our bed. When my gf and I wake up in the morning we are very itchy, and have little bites on us. Are bed bugs attracted to piss?
Change your baby more frequently or try using diapers that don't leak. Try and keep the training puppy off of your bed, if you can.
As for the itching, I have never heard of bed bugs being attracted to urine. You can see bedbugs with the naked eye, so try shining a flashlight on your bedding just before dawn (they are most active then).
Could the puppy have fleas? Fleas bite humans,...

Is it ever socially acceptable to pick your nose in public or private?
I suppose if it's 'in private', then social acceptability doesn't really come into play. I think most people have had a time when there was something in their nose that 'had' to come out. If they do so privately, and use a tissue or wash their hands, what is the issue?

Beauty pageants for minor children - Do these seem odd or normal to you? Would you care to share why you answer as you have?
To me it seems bizarre. These pageants only feed into the false idea of beauty in our culture. They put children in make-up and often inappropriate attire, all for the benefit of the parent's sense of 'success'.

Do any of you think its wrong for an 11 year old girl to STILL sleep with her parents? she sleeps in the bed during the week and on the floor during the weekends. am i wrong in thinking she needs to grow up?
Some people have a 'family bed' and it can be a positive experience for all involved. However, if the parents or the child do not want this, it should end. There have been studies on this and many children who grow up in a 'family bed' household grow up to be confident and successful adults. It really depends on the reasons she is in their bed, and the circumstances involved.

About ten hour ago. :)
Answer to:
Would you prefer your first child to be a boy or a girl?
I had a boy, but didn't have any preference. I didn't find out his gender until he was born, either. I like the element of surprise. :)

What is the most infuriating thing about your car?
Only that it uses gas (petrol). There is no excuse on this earth why we don't have electric cars available to everyone. I have known people to convert their engines to run on cooking oil, but do not have the mechanical ability myself.

Perhaps unfortunately, I do. I care about so many things. I do believe in the phrase "Ignorance is bliss", which is why I am so tortured at times. :)

Was it OK for Pete Townsend to "research" child porn on the internet in order that he might write a song or whatever about it?
It certainly seemed like a strange excuse. If he was really doing this research 'out of concern' for the children, he should've notified authorities beforehand. I would be too sickened by the imagery and abuse to even 'research' that area, particularly not for personal research. That is something that only legitimate law enforcement or child advocacy agencies need...

What do you think about people cloning a specific cat and dog from one they own, or have owned?
I am not someone who likes the idea of cloning anything, from the foods we eat, to the pets we love. It's just not something that I have a good gut reaction to.

Why when you decide to take a break from AB, do people immediately assume it's because of people on AB being mean to you? Do you think I scare that easily?
I have no idea. I think there are many good reasons for a break. I generally take a break if I go out of town, or have had 'too much'. I don't think you scare easily at all. I would never make an assumption as to why anyone takes a break. We all have different reasons. :)

Answer to:
Before we experience some things, we have very strong opinions...we criticize and judge others for the choices they make. Then we get married, we become parents, we live certain lifestyles...is anything the way you thought it would be?
To be honest, in many ways it is like I suspected. But there are things I was critical of, especially when it came to my parents, that I now see were out of line. Parents are simple people with a very difficult job and heavy responsibility. I used to see a mom get frustrated with her kids in the store and think 'That'll never be me!'.

I haven't watched a game show for years, to be honest. When I was a kid, I always felt kind of bad for the people who lost.

Honestly . . . if your boss is out for the day and u are left unsupervised, wat do u do most of the day? like after u did ur daily duties and he/she isnt ther to give u additional tasks?
Honestly, if she is 'out', I work twice as hard. I still represent her business, even when I'm on my own. I have to do the work of two when she is gone, and I have to do it just as well as I normally would. :)

Which of the 18 vitaminwater flavors (including previous ones) is your favorite? If you don't drink vitaminwater, why not?
I get my vitamins from the foods I eat (fruits, vegetables, etc). I don't like all the additives (flavors and colorings)and sugar substitutes in such things. It's also insanely expensive, and not a substitute for good nutrition.

The state just issued a tornado warning for my county and a couple of other surrounding ones - do I need to be scared? i'm at home with my 4 year old, what do i do? (i'm new to the states)
If it's an actual tornado WARNING you need to get to the safest place you can, preferably a basement. Stay away from windows and take a radio with you, if you can, to keep track of the storm. You might want to take a couple of blankets to put over your heads 'just in case' because when a tornado hits, a lot of stuff is flying around. I have been through at least twenty warnings,...

If i had a boyfriend and he got locked up for probation and he was gone for three months and we haven t talked since he has been locked up and we were having problems in our relationship before he left should i wait or should i move on.
If you want to move on, do so. It would be best if you contacted and let him know. In my opinion, if you want to leave him now, you would've left him anyway. My husband and I are best friends, and I would stick it out if he went away for ANY reason.

If two people who are married to different people masturbate infront of each other but do not touch is that cheating in you eyes? Just a question!
I would be pretty uncomfortable with my husband doing this with another woman, as he would be if I did so with another man. If it is 'behind someone's back', it's cheating, as I see it.

Do celebs deserve to win awards?
Certainly, but often the ones who deserve are never even brought up for the award. I think it has a lot to do with industry politics and money. There are some amazing actors, singers, etc. who are not recognized, and some mediocre ones that are. There are, of course, exceptions to the rule.

Mc Donald's blessing or curse?
To the average consumer, it might seem like a blessing. To me, it's a curse. A curse to the poor cows and chickens that are being mass farmed and shot with hormones. A curse to the packing plant workers who work in horrible conditions for horrible wages. A curse to the employees of the restaurants (McD's is known for it's recruitment of cheap labor, usually people who can find no...
