Anyone here like horse racing, do you go to the track to watch/bet, what's the most you have won on one race, remember the horses name?
When I was working at Churchill Downs back in 2001, I can remember wanting to bet on several horses. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to and the rule was enforced. I would pick horses by names I liked and I can still remember one in particular. Hocohantas. I wanted to place a $2 to win bet on that horse so bad I could taste it. But like I said, I couldn't. Pretty good answers so far. Maul is a Zabrak, and a Sith apprentice (under Darth Sidious of course.)

Bi-sexuality among women seems to be more common than it once was. and I'm curious about the reason. Is bisexuality a common female tendency or is it just considered fashionable?
When I first realized I was bi and "came out" back in 93, it wasn't cool. Trust me.
Over the years I've seen the taboos diminish greatly.
I don't really know if there's a greater tendency amongst females to be bi, or bi-curious, but I think more people are at least open to it now. Whether this is cultural or just people finally having the moxie to not care...

It's a very empowering poem.

Most guys look at porn on the Internet. It doesn't mean that he'll cheat. Of course, it doesn't mean that he won't. I'd have to say it's very normal. Well unfortunately, all I know of Mandalorians comes from Knights of the Old Republic. In it (and I'm presuming the rest of the EU) Mandalorians are a warrior type alien race that are very similar to humans. ie they're bipedal, roughly the same height, have hair and two eyes, etc.

Why were female officers in TNG (and DS9, methinks) addressed as "Sir" instead of "Ma'am"?
All of the ranks used in Star Trek are based on Navy ranks. The reason for that is because Gene Roddenberry was in the Navy. In the Navy, all officers are addressed as "Sir," regardless of gender (or species, since some aliens may have more or less than 2, in this case.) The universal "Sir" simplifies things. Hope this helps. :D

It's possible the Force is passed through bloodlines. Perhaps there's a predisposition to having a high midichlorian count. I can't provide much insight however, because the only family of Force sensitives I'm aware of (right now) are the Skywalkers.
However, the Jedi Council (per the Jedi Code) doesn't prohibit sex. They DO prohibit marriage, because of the...

My boyfriend wants us to get married in a Catholic church. I am not Catholic and I am divorced. Can we get married in a Catholic church or is it forbidden?
Most Catholic churches don't have any problem with performing a mixed religion marriage. In fact, when I got married in 2000, the non Catholic partner didn't even have to convert. (They used to only allow/perform the marriage if the non Catholic converted.) I don't think that your being divorced is a problem either, but I stress the "think."

Unfortunately smoking is a psychological addiction (in addition to a physical one!) Some people need to have something in their hands and/or mouths to replace the cigarette. In fact, a lot of smokers I know will chew gum or eat candy when they know they won't be able to smoke for awhile.
But some people had a stronger addiction or whatever and need something in their mouths constantly,...

What is a reasonable amount of time for a seller to wait for a buyer to pay for an item?
Most sellers ask that payment be received within 10 days after the end of the auction. This is a reasonable amount of time. Usually, they also request communication (e-mail) within 3 days so the buyer can give them information. IE, method of payment, name and address. This also gives the seller the opportunity to let the buyer know who and where to send payment to.

A simple answer: no. If your significant other's parents invited you to stay with them for the family reunion, they should have at least told you to make other arrangements before the last minute.

What ailment(s) afflicted Kurt Cobain while he was alive?
Kurt had a painful, mysterious stomach ailment while still alive. I don't think anyone ever quite pinned it down. He said in many of his interviews/writings that it was one of the reasons he decided to try heroin. Whether the stomach pain was really a reason, I don't know. I also seem to recall reading (somewhere) that he had scoliosis. Also, (something I read in...

Just by having file sharing programs up and running, aren't you inadvertently sharing with anyone who chooses to get into your system? What can be done to avoid this?
In most types of P2P (peer-to-peer) downloading places, there's a button called "options." Under this options button, a user can choose what to share, how many files can be simultaneously uploaded by other users (if any) and how many can be downloaded to the user. The user can opt not to share anything at all. However, unless you choose "don't share" or a...

Why are some dial-up ISPs faster than others?
One thing I've noticed from dial-up ISP's (I live out in the sticks too :D ) is that national ISP's tend to go slower. I don't know if everyone experiences this or not. I've had AOL, Earthlink, MSN, etc. All of them were extremely slow and kept kicking me off, especially during "peak" hours. I don't really know the techinal stuff regarding ISPs, but...

How is the date of Mardi Gras determined each year?
Lent is 40 days long (not counting Sundays) So, to figure out Mardi Gras' date (for a particular year) first you have to find out what date Easter is falling on. Count back 40 days from the day before Easter (excluding Sundays.) You should have landed on a Wednesday; then you count 1 more and that'll be Mardi Gras. Hope this helps :D

How much chocolate is in the perfect glass of chocolate milk?
Well, everyone's opinion of a "perfect" glass of chocolate milk will be different. But most people I know like my chocolate milk. This is how I do it. Take a glass (usually 12 or 16 ounce, but can be any size) fill the glass 3/4 full of milk. Then get your chocolate sauce and keep squirting until the milk rises almost to the rim. Stir and enjoy. By the way, I tend to like...

The answer about taking drippings and adding flour was great! However, if you want to make white (milk) gravy, just subsitute milk for cold water. You have to stir pretty much constantly though. Mmmm, now I'm hungry. Hope this helps :D Oh! I almost forgot to add: salt and pepper to taste.

Are there any dangerous household spiders? How can I identify them?
There's actually another dangerous household spider. It's called a Hobo spider. It's a fairly large spider, and the two palps have swollen knobby things on the end of them, making them resemble little boxing gloves. This is what the male Hobo looks like. The female is quite similar, only without the gloves. Her cephalothorax is fatter also. For actual pictures of them, go...

Why does my cat sit and stare out of the window for hours on end?
Every cat is different, but if your cat is anything like mine, she/he is extremely curious and HAS to know what's going on. All the time. Maybe there's something going on outside, maybe the cat is waiting until something's going on. If there's a slight chance of a bird flying by, a car passing, a flower/leaf moving...the cat HAS to be informed! LOL. I'm not...

Is it true that if 'The Wizard of Oz' is played while mute, and Pink Floyd's album 'Dark Side of The Moon' is played simultaneously, then the actions and dialogues on screen sync perfectly with the album's sounds?
Yes. It's really cool. If you happen to have both of them, try it out. Here's how it works: Put "The Wizard of Oz" in your VCR (I'm not sure how the DVD works, but I imagine it's similar to VHS). Put "Dark Side of the Moon" (preferrably cd) in a player that will continously loop. Start playing the Wizard of Oz. When Leo the MGM lion roars the third...

Answer to:
Can cats see in the dark?
Well, cats can't see in complete darkness. They can see a lot better in low light than humans. This is mainly due to their eyes/pupils. A cats pupil isn't round. This helps it dilate and expand to take advantage of any light. Also, they have a crystalline layer in their eyes. When even a tiny amount of light enters their eyes, it gets reflected around in there so they can see...

How many octaves can the average person sing? How many for professional singers?
There are many different answers, depending on who you ask. The most common answer is 2-3 (average.) Normal pop/stuff you hear on the radio can use their normal range. Classical and opera singers generally have more, from 4-??? There is dispute about that, like I mentioned.
http://notsosynonymous.tripod.com/sing/qa2.html has the flipside. I don't know if I believe it or not....

What is the origin of the tradition of putting up a Christmas tree?
Back in Pagan days (so I've read) families would bring in an evergreen (or other pine-y type) tree and decorate it for Yule. This was to symbolize that there's still life even during the harsh winter weather. I believe that Yule is also the Pagan New Year, so the tree could also symbolize life for the new year.

How can I find out what date holidays like Easter and Mother's Day are going to fall on during a given year?
Well, unfortunately Easter uses a lengthy process to determine its date. It falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. Mother's Day is always the second Sunday in May. To determine these without aid of a current calendar, there are perpetual calendars which show how years line up with each other (i.e. I was born on a Friday...how many years will...

Was Ludwig van Beethoven deaf all of his life?
No. Beethoven knew he was going deaf by 1802, he also knew there was no salvaging his hearing. He was born probably sometime in 1770 (everything I've read said he was baptized that year, so I have to presume.) From excerpts of letters and such he wrote about his ailment, it seems he may have had tinnitus (constant ringing in the ears.) After he fell completely deaf, he still composed,...

What factors are causing the record player to make a comeback?
I think perhaps nostalgia is a factor in record players coming back. People remember playing their records and miss it. Or perhaps they never got rid of their vinyl records and are jumping on the chance to play them again. Or (once again) perhaps they had a huge record collection and don't want to spend X amount of money to convert to CDs.
Answer to:
How do television shows make money?
Television shows generally make money by selling commercial time during their air time. Higher rated shows sell their time for more money because there's more of an audience for marketers to reach. Example: Friends has a high rating, therefore, the producers sell 30 seconds to McDonalds for 100,000. Of course, that's just an example. They can also make money by having product...

In The Sims: Makin Magic, when do the mysterious crystals appear (not the Charms), and where can I find black roses for ingrediants?
If your Sim uses a lot of magic (spells, using charms, etc.) eventually crystals will start appearing on the lot. As far as I know, there's no message or noise indicating that one has popped up, you just have to check every so often. The black roses are given to a star by the Obsessed Fan from Superstar. This usually only works if the person playing Makin Magic also has Superstar and...
