Sounds like trigger finger. I have it and it's not painful, but I guess it could be for some people. My fingers usually only get like that when I've done a lot of work with my hands. People who have it usually have carpal tunnel syndrom and/or arthritic joints as well.

I love this question it makes you appreciate how wonderful "unfairness" can be in creating a life that is worth living. My life would be quite unbearable I think if life were always fair. I would be in a vegetative state because what else can inspire us so much as the unfairness of life.

Penultimate number question: what springs to mind when I mention the number 1,969?
1+9+6+9=25; 2+5=7 I always do this with numbers, I'm not sure why. Just a weird habit. Ending up with the number 7 strikes me as a sort of neutral number luck wise. As a year 1969 was very exciting with Woodstock, the lunar landing, my little brother was born, we moved to the town that I still live in today. And then there is that groovy song "The Summer of '69"!

I think our fear that someone else will be harmed if we don't take immediate action to protect them can erase our fear of being harmed ourselves. For instance the heroes aboard Flight 93. They knew their chances of survival were pretty much nil, but they acted to prevent further harm to their fellow countrymen.

I could possibly switch to another Christian faith with a sensible doctrine that allows and encourages it's practitioners to use their intellect, reason, and heart if I were to say marry a man of that other religion or find myself in a location that did not have a...

I think it is natural to fear for your child whether you live with them or not. It is our job to protect them and our instinct as well. Your feelings are very natural. I would also advise calling your child everyday for your own peace of mind and also because it lets them know you are thinking of them every single day. Even if they seem agitated at times or indifferent towards you, that is just...

If you get upset by something someone says, is it usually how they said it or what they said?
It is usually how they say it. However, I'm learning to take my time before jumping to conclusions. I've found quite often that people meant no offense or that I simply misunderstood. I'm trying to be better about giving others the benefit of the doubt when it comes to assuming something about them.

You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on what's in front of you (the foreground) and how that fits into the larger picture. How do they make you feel?
It is good to have friends though, who stand by us even when we are being a pain in the ass whining over losing someone who would have made us totally miserable for the rest of our lives. That whining kind of helps us work through the pain and loss when someone listens and encourages us at the same time to busy ourselves with doing something constructive. Pain that once seemed unbearable just...

An intriguing question. If you are referring to the Qu'ran I believe it would depend on why he killed himself as to the virgins accompanying him to heaven. I believe that is reserved for martyrs. Was your father a follower of Islam? When you say "any beliefs" can you narrow that down a bit. Are you looking for beliefs about suicide and the afterlife? I would very much like to...

What disturbs your heart and spirit about churches today?
That people underestimate the need for spiritual guidance and fellowship. I consider my spirit as important or more important than my physical body and I think it's a good idea to let a professional have a gander at it every now and then. There is a lot of apathy and loneliness in the world and a little spiritual fellowship and celebration of life can give us a needed lift. Just my two...

If your lover is a man I think respect is probably most important to him and the rest will follow. If your lover is a woman, I think it is happiness because that is what she wants to know she has given you. All four are essential though.

This is a common fantasy, especially for younger women or women who have had a strict upbringing that sex is sort of bad. The rape fantasy allows her to not feel responsible for the sexual act and in a strange twist she can then enjoy it more. A lot of these women will sort of outgrow this fantasy as they become more confident and less inhibited. Good question.

I'm know I'm a wee bit dense at times but why exactly couldn't someone allow them self to be happy? This is one of those things that convolutes my head. True happiness is what we feel when we have done something to make someone feel happy but they can't feel too happy if you don't reflect that happiness back to them. Say you have 2 choclate covered donuts. You really...

I'm getting them both out. One of them may drown in the process but I have a 7 minute window from the time they drown to initiate CPR. It doesn't matter who they are and whether they are related to me. I'm getting them out. Situations like this are the biggest reason for maintaining your cunning and your strength. Your going to need both.

Females, If you were raped and became pregnant would you consider an abortion? Why or why not?
No. I would take the morning after pill to try to prevent a pregnancy from occurring but if all failed and I became pregnant I would have the child. There is nothing a pathetic rapist could do to make me think so little of myself that I wouldn't want a child that took life in my body and who shared my blood and my genes. When I look at my children I have already I don't resent them...

It wouldn't bother me to joke about it good naturedly with them. Or just be less sarcastic and more direct with "I'm still trying to love ya, even though you are the most judgmental person I know."...

I guess you are referring to more complicated matters than just simple things like telling a lie or committing a murder. Compassion. Even if it was all I had left I would hope that I could never give it up. But until we are placed in a situation that truly challenges our ability to show compassion who knows what choice we would make. Our brains might shift into a purely survivalist or self-preservation mode.

This is a cool question. I have friends who are not trustworthy, but knowing that about them doesn't stop me from enjoying their company. It just stops me from depending on them. Kind of funny situation i have: I completed a novel, where a bad smelling room is used as catalyst for main plot, but found myself at end of book without explanation for this bad smell in the protagonist's house (should be good reason since he's good) tx
I think there are certain chemotherapies that require strong chemicals to clean up. For instance, I think bladder cancer (I think men get this more frequently than women)requires treatment with something radioactive. Therefore bleach must be used every time the person receiving treatment goes to the bathroom. As in the toilet must be scrubbed down.

Women are quite often more emotionally tied to their sex partners and their decisions to have sex. I do agree. I constantly catch myself getting uptight and doing that. Well, if you initiated the break-up it sounds like she is trying to hang on in the hopes of convincing you to come back. If she initiated the break-up it sounds like she is not quite ready to let you get on with your life. Either way, you are right it is just prolonging the pain. Don't be unkind, breaking up is painful enough in and of itself, but do go ahead and move on if you believe it...

Should you obey your husband?
I personally could not marry a man I was not willing to obey. I think if we thought about this before marriage we would be much more careful about who we choose to marry. It sort of comes natural to most men to want to be dominant and in control. If they knew the well being of their wife, their marriage, and their family was dependent upon them carefully thinking through decisions, I think...

If a large breasted women runs a lot, will this make her sag more?
I think it can do damage, especially unseen damage. Just thinking of how running can damage your knees and ankles and those aren't big handfuls of soft tissue like breasts are. It's only logical that it would do some damage. A really, really great sports bra may help, but in my experience the only ones that really stopped the bouncing motion were ones that I couldn't breath when...

There is a very fine line between respecting the rights of those with a cognitive disability and neglecting them.

I think those societies have been attempted by humans who in the end were just using Utopia as a cover up for power and greed or something perverse. I think it is appalling that some baggers get booted off and others are permitted to leave with accolades and anyone who disputes their goodness is accused of stalking and terrorizing, blah, blah, blah!
But my stabilizing force holds me steady on course!

Do you get chills down your spine when you hear your country's national anthem?
Yes, I do. The War of 1812 was very unpopular with most Americans of that time. They disgustedly referred to it as "Madison's War" much the same as most American's regard the current war. Even though our ships had been repeatedly violated by the British, most American's did not support President Madison's decision to go to war. However on Aug. 25, 1814 the war...

It depends...I can go either way on this one. Depends mostly on what's in it for me! Do I get any chocolate truffles or artist's paints and paper? Do I get to sleep late? Do I have to listen to howling and whining from the other residents? Just who does all the housework? Will somebody cook for me? Are there drugs or booze available? What about sex????

I was engaged for several years to a man who never told me he was bi-sexual. He says he was never unfaithful and I believe him. But when he considered living the rest of his life with never being with a man again, it wasn't something he wanted to give up. The relationship ended and it was devastating. For your life to be as close to perfect as possible... what would have to change?
When I stop procrastinating, keep a schedule that I actually use, put a padded sound-proof room in my house that my son and the dogs can do their wraslin' in, my daughter's fiance and future father-in-law both get back safely from Iraq and my dogs quit yapping at every little bitty noise. Basically, I've got it pretty darn good. Oh yeah, wouldn't mind hooking up with...

Have you seemed to hurt your s/o numerous times unintentionally?
Sure, it's happened. Being sensitive to what hurts someone is often a trial and error thing. It's from spending a lot of time with that person that we learn what distresses them. If I feel someone is hurting me and I'm pretty sure that it is unintentional then I have to ask myself if I'm being overly sensitive and is this sensitivity something I just need to let go of.

I would leave no stone unturned. I would try anything that might help. I would look for someone with a good history and a clean background. The wrong kind of help could actually harm an investigation.

Lethargic and quiet. I just kind of smile and nod at everything said to me. Someone could say the house is on fire and I would probably just smile and nod. Whatever is being said just doesn't really penetrate my brain. I don't really get cranky except when I'm hungry or overwhelmed with work.

A local candidate for the senate (Dem) talks about high gas prices on his ad. He says he will work to repeal the tax cuts for "big oil". Isn't this hypocritical? Won't repealing those tax cuts drive the price of gas HIGHER?

I just want to add that the $18 billion in revenues arising from the repeal of the tax credit is targetted to be used for research on other sources of energy. I think it was Penal Colony who also provided a very good explanation on another question on shareholder regulations regarding oil companies.

Do you perceive in America today a general sense of[fear] in the populace to publically voice their opinions?
The only fear I see is the grotesque reactions on either side. The hateful name calling, the general lack of respect for another American's point of view when it is given at an appropriate place and at an appropriate time. Either side is quite guilty of hateful actions IMHO. I know you to be a man of great respect and tolerance even for a different point of view that is given in repect. I...

When me and my ex bf lived together, I took care of him and the house and I really liked it. Does wanting to be a house wife a bad thing and why do people think it's a thing of the past?
I think it is fine and a great thing. Not just for your children, but for yourself and your husband and your community. The only drawbackwould be if you and your husband divorced you have no background without a college degree to support yourself. There is currently a lot of hate aimed at women by Men's Rights Activists for getting alimony or a property settlement that they consider...

If a women says, '' Do you think I look fat in this dress?'' what is the right answer? No matter what I always fail.
If it's not becoming to her, tell her. You can say it in a way that is not hurtful. Such as, "it just doesn't do for you what the blue dress does" or "it's just not a flattering cut and I know you would want to know "You have the cutest backside and I don't like those pants on you because they just don't do it justice"! Hope that helps.

Very badly. The first one I've ever had end like that. He went from being crazy about me and in love one day and literally the next he wasn't. Without warning. Yes, but I feel like I'm beginning to move on. It was just such a shock to discover he must have just been pretending. I don't even understand the reason for pretending to feel love for someone. Why on Earth someone would do that. Especially at our ages. The damage he did to feed his ego (that is the only reason I can think to pretend)is so selfish.

Which one is harder to handle: a drama queen or a drunk?
They are all just people and have their faults like anyone else. I just try to focus on that which is the best in them and see them as a human being most importantly. I would say it's about even. I have come across people in life that are neither and are much more difficult than the drama queen or the drunk.

The drinking age in America(or wherever you may be) is being disputed once again, some say if you can vote and risk your life for your country you ought to be allowed. First; What age do YOU think? Stay at 21, 18 or...? And; when could you legally?
I think it should be 18. I was able to drink at 18.
I think it is unjust to consider an 18 year old a competent adult in every way except when it comes to buying or drinking alcohol. It seems unfair to charge them as an adult for committing a crime against something they are considered incompetent to do.

If I were Clinton, I would have used it as an opportunity. I would have held a private meeting with the man to address his concerns. I would have expanded that to meet with men's groups around the country. It would have been seen as a goodwill move and a show of respect for the men in America. I'm glad she didn't since I don't think she is the best candidate for the job.

Why does the relationship come before the kids in marriage #1, but the kids come before the new relationship in marriage #2? It should be the relationship is first no matter whose kids are whose. Kids grow up and move away!
Yes, agree. It's just so hard to live it in reality. You never expect spouse number 2 to have your children's best interests at heart. I'm not saying they don't, it's just hard for a lot of people to really believe that, especially about men. I guess that is because historically men haven't cared as much for a woman's children from a previous relationship....

I'm in my 40's and still feel confused about this. Men often refer to women they have dated or been married to as gold diggers. However, if you offer to pay or pay your share they are often insulted. If you figure it out, please let me know. 8D

I'm sure you would be lovely either way. It looks very pretty in the picture. I've worn my hair short but it grows so fast that I was forever in need of a haircut. So I quit cutting it a year and a half ago and now it is almost to my waist. Guess I will at least get a trim soon.

I don't know that making it illegal is the right answer but something that would really make people take a bit longer to understand the dynamics of married life and what to expect and how to keep the fire alive would be helpful. My spelling had really become quite bad. This is a little ironic considering your question refers to a first grade level, but I have a son in first grade and it's as if I am relearning all the rules with him. My point is my spelling has improved dramatically just by practicing with a first grade student.

What I've noticed is if an easy or fun question is asked that many people will be able to answer, it really pays to be among the first answers. Part of Obama's economic plan is to raise taxes by as much as 10%... ...How is this going to help the economy?
I'm no economist or budget analyst (used to be, though). I think it's going to be more than 10%: http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2008-presidential-candidates/issues/candidates/barack-obama/#gun-control
He wants to financially reward fathers who make the responsible choice to help raise their children, provide pre and post natlal home visits to 570,000 first time mothers by a...

I am trying to understand Obama's statement on special interests groups with his record of contributors. Please see my answer for details and links that don't fit in this space. Are the contributors in the link special interest or something else?
From the Washington Post: http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2008-presidential-candidates/issues/candidates/barack-obama/#gun-control
Today's economic growth and federal economic policies disproportionately benefit the wealthiest of Americans, many of whom have armies of lobbyists and political fundraisers at their disposal. Special interests that have spent billions of dollars lobbying...

DOES ANYBODY THINK KOSOVO SHOULD BECOME INDEPENDENT?
No, I do not think that it should.
Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said Monday that his country was "rightfully embittered" by Bush's remarks in support of Kosovan independence made during a brief stopover Sunday in Albania, adding that the United States "has no right to give away Serbia's territory to Albanians," according to a government news...

Yes, however the message wasn't bad. But the profile was a bit and the weblink was more so. I'm sure harmless, but into stuff that I prefer not to be around and I'm pretty open minded. I don't know why your question was dr'd I gave +6, I think it's a good question.

Is obesity more dangerous than terrorism?
Death is not the only danger posed by terrorism, they spread hatred, discrimination, oppression, fear, and illiteracy for starters. They maim and rape. They hold no value for life, if they have access to nuclear weapons they will not hesitate to use them. I think the death toll in that event, will go a little bit over the one caused by obesity.
Just because one might be more dangerous than...

My wife has an ex who even after she broke up whith has still talked to over 10 years about books, music, arts, ect. She talks to him about an hour a day, should i be okay with this?
She broke up with him over 10 years ago and continues to talk to him, if I'm understanding you correctly. If it's been going on for 10 years why stop it now? I would think they would do something besides talk each day if there was anything more going on between them. It sounds like he is just like another one of her female friends except he's a guy.

It looks as though John McCain and Senator Barack Obama may make it to the final, Whom do you think will be suited to the post of President of USA?
John McCain. He has so much more experience and does not propose programs that take away or limit our inviolable rights as defined by our constitution or programs that take away our freedom of choice, hamper healthy competition among businesses. I was moved by his response to the torture issue of waterboarding. His difficulty with it showed. I think if Americans read the candidates platforms...

"Silence is golden," is it so always?
When I worked there were days when I felt so assaulted by noise, it was a relief to get in my car no radio, nothing, just quiet. My kids and pets can really make a racket at home and it is a relief to have some silence, but then after a couple of hours I'm lonely for their racket again.

Do you believe in Mental Powers of Extra Sensory Perception (ESP), if so, what experience made you to accept this?
Yes, I think it exists. My son and I read each others thoughts so easily. Something will cross my mind that may have happened in the past or that we may have discussed doing at one time and a few minutes later he will bring it up. It only happens sporadically with my daughter, but with my son it is a daily constant thing. I am under the impression that this is a fairly common thing between...

Now a days, for every ailment whether it is high BP, Heart conditions, Cholesterol or Diabetes, Doctors ask the patient to walk. If walking is so effective how is that people working in the fields also get affected by these maladies?
I'm not a medical person, but I believe that in each of these conditions some people have a genetic predisposition for developing the ailment. A friend of mine has always been very tiny, fit, and watches her diet closely. Yet, she still developed high blood pressure and her cholesterol soared out of control. She is now on medication to control both. She is truly the last person I would...

Yes, I was very loved, misunderstood quite often, but always loved. I had three younger brothers and I love them very much, one was very close to me in age and we taught each other a lot.

Do you ever wonder just where you fit in?
I see in your comment to CJ, you are looking for where we fit in to other people's lives. Yes, I wonder that all the time. I often feel other people are more important to me than I am to them, but then they will do something that shows me how much they care and I feel silly, but still I wonder.

What do you do when you really want and need to cry, but you can't because you feel dead inside?
I mope about. I'm very quiet. I'll fix some coffee, and it's usually there, at the coffee pot, that the tears will come. I don't know why. Sometimes it's in the shower, I guess because of the privacy. I'm single and a mom and when the kids see me cry it scares them. Unless of course it's over a sad song, they're used to that.

In high school, how much did you consciously change for the sake of having friends?
It was a very long time ago. I lived in a small town where everyone pretty much knew each other. I had a lot of friends, but I don't think I ever gave into peer pressure. I think I had a lot of friends because I was open minded and non-judgemental to a degree. I never bit my tongue about letting someone know what I thought of their bullying others. Although, there really wasn't much...

If your spouse was unfaithful to you would you still stay with them?
If it was just a one night fling and I believed he really, truly loved me and would be devastated at my leaving - then I would probably leave. That would give him an opportunity to do some soul searching and maturing. Then I would go back. That would only happen in my make-believe world, because I will never marry again.
