Why is it unaccepted to think that the universe came about out of nothing, but its all right to think that some higher power can come from nothing (simply exist).
.
Is it because we have some completely unverifiable documents claiming God exists?
I think it's simpler than that.
We find it hard to conceive that nothing produces something.

The term "Black Friday" originated in Philadelphia in reference to the heavy traffic on that day (see Origin of the name "Black Friday" below). Why are people so against down rating? Everyone on here makes such a big deal out of it. The option of down rating is there to be used, not to be feared. Are people just too politically correct?
They don't talk about it much, but I recall a post explaining how some kid became so upset with a particular d/r that he had a seizure.
No one ever heard from him again. It cast a terrible pall over downrating people, but it's been so long since the "seizure kid", no one really remembers the real reason why everybody is so against it.

Quote from an eyewitness to a police shooting in MA. " I heard 12 shots fired simultaneously" Is this a credible account?
Possibly.
People don't often listen to themselves when they speak. They're accustomed to casual speech, so saying things that make no sense has become commonplace.
I'm sure with a few probing questions, the eyewitness would be forced to articulate his thoughts more accurately.

If God wanted to save us, couldn’t He have done that without sacrificing Jesus?
From what I understand of the Bible, He didn't sacrifice Jesus.
Jesus assumed the task of being crucified to demonstrate the illusion of death.
The only thing Jesus came to save us from was our own ignorance.

10.
Interesting question, considering I usually ignore questions that posit scales of any kind.
I like questions that are interaction; that allow me to share an opinion, share an experience or offer a humorous or "meaningful" point of view.
Questions that request scale or "yes/no" answers (in my opinion) are not very imaginative, informative or interesting.

Answer to:
I dont understand, why god sent his only son to die for our sins..he's GOD,couldnt he of just killed the sinners?or fixed it
You must first understand what sin IS.
Sin is man's belief
that he's separate from God.
What better way you prove this
than to have his son demonstrate the illusion of death?
But we don't believe
so we dwell in a hell of our own creation.
Answer to:
Christians: If you believe God is eternal, do you think it is crazy for me to believe the universe is eternal and had no creator?
I would believe
that you're free to comprehend
or NOT comprehend God
in whatever manner
you choose...
...As long as you don't impose your comprehension
(or lack thereof)
on ME.
I would also believe
that if He wanted it otherwise
He would have denied the possibility of
anyone understanding anything
other than Him.
Answer to:
What is wrong with NOT believing in god?
Nothing.
Now go play.
