Answer to:
How did the Book of Enoch not make it into Biblical canon?
Loads of books didn't make it in. The Revelation Of Saint John only just made it in itself as it was nearly considered a bit too wacky. I think it was only because they mis-attributed the work that it was included.
Researching The Council Of Nicaea is a good place to start. That's when Constantine decided he needed to get this religion organised. :)

Why did Jesus die on a cross? Why not a rock? Or a pike?
Just a quick note: Jophesus was not contemporary (he was born around 37 AD/CE). There is also strong evidence that the writings of Jophesus as pertaining to Jesus are forgeries. There is a huge amount on this on the net well worth the research time as it is fascinating.
As I said before no-one knows. Contemporary evidence is very poor. If Jesus was a messianic figure that was executed...

Answer to:
If stars are light sources and black holes are light absorbers, could not one be the opposite of the other? Or black holes just be stars going back in time?
Not really. You need to look at what the objects are.
The direction of time is determined by something called entropy. Entropy must always increase therefore forward in time is always in the direction of increasing entropy.
Now stars and Black Holes both have entropy. So their time direction must be the same. So one cannot be the other reversed in time as their time direction is the...

Can black holes only grow? Or could something very special or very big neutralize them?
Hawking radiation. It is a quantum effect which uses something called virtual particles. Basically a pair of particles is spontaneously created by borrowing energy from the spin (I think) of the black hole. In most situations the particles annihilate (anti matter collision) or fall into the black hole so the energy is retained. However one may fall in and another may escape carrying some of...

Interestingly you have picked a very interesting topic. This one bugs physicists as well (OK on a more fundamental level!)

No-one knows exactly how Jesus died (there is no official record which is rather strange - there are records of loads of other messianic figures?) Does it make sense to attribute anything inexplicable to magic until proven otherwise?
No.
There are many things that have previously been attributed to magic but then another explanation was found. Many many many things. Indeed at a guess probably 99.999% of all things claimed to be of magical origin have been found to have a rational explanation.
So the probability that a newly discovered phenomenon is justifiably attributable to magic is pretty damned low based on the...

Each other i.e. the velocity (not speed by the way, speed is a scalar quantity, velocity is a vector as it incorporates both speed and direction) of the observed and observer.
A big mistake often made is to state something like "moving clocks run slow" - slow relative to what? Everything is moving and there is no such thing as a universal base time that all the others can be...

In so much as our understanding of them alters yes, in terms of actual "laws" of nature probably not. There is a group at Cambridge working on it now I believe.

There is something hard-wired for sure, the motor functions breathing, eating, walking etc are all wired in. Chomsky reckons there is some form of universal grammar wired into our brains if I remember correctly. I think I agree. I don't believe we are merely automata to our genetics though, I think nurture is a far more important aspect of our development. So not a complete blank slate...

Why is it that arguments/debates about Religion are always taken to extremes? Is there no point of compromise, or is it just that the two parties are unwilling to find that point? (Please don't downrate me. This not directed at anyone in particular.)
I think it comes down to the fact that with religion, as opposed to say politics, art or science, you have people taking the position they are 100% correct and anyone that disagrees is wrong. The religions themselves often make this a core part of their belief system. Take the First Commandment for example. It would not have done much for Jewish/Christian faith if it said "I might be...

Answer to:
Just because something is "normal" does that make it acceptable? Ex...it's "normal" for for you to have to send something back in a restaurant sometimes
I depends on your definitions. If by normal you mean the prevailing majority opinion and by acceptable you mean tolerated by society then usually (in democracies at least) this is this case.
However, it is also normal to lose one's temper but is it acceptable in the situation in which you lose it? Not always.
So it depends on your definitions.

I just bought an accoustic guitar. I have a tuner, but whenever I get it to the right note, I then go through the strings, and it's all off. How do I tune it and get it to stay that way?
Allow your strings to 'bed in' for a bit (the advice given on stretching the strings is good advice) as they slip on the pegs and naturally stretch when tightened initially.
Also learn to tune by ear as I don't trust electronic tuners especially with acoustic instruments.

Use harmonics and try to develop perfect pitch or at least relative pitch (it can be learned it is not just an innate talent)
Get one string in tune (use a tuner if you must) I prefer the A string. The use the fact that if you play a harmonic on the 7th fret of the A string you will get exactly the same note on the fifth fret harmonic on the E string. Similar up the bass D and A G and D...

Numerous.
1) "No speed bumps (frets)" - this was one of Jaco Pastorious' reasons, he felt that the frets just get in the way.
2) Different tone - with a fretted instrument the fret not your finger does the work of 'stopping' the note. The finger contact gives you more connection with the note I feel.
3) Vibrato. Fretted instruments have a bit of a...
