If you had a live-in household robot that does all the cooking, cleaning, yardwork, laundry, etc would you want it to look and act exactly like a human, or would you want it to look more mechanical? That depends. If I had a family I'd probably want it to just look mechanical. I don't want little baby Tommy to accidentally call the robot 'Momma'. But if I'm single and live alone, then it wouldn't hurt for possible predators and other ne'er-do-wells to see a man-figure in the house.

I've noticed that Indians commonly say "today evening" rather than "this evening" or "tonight". Why is this? It's textbook English. They say an translation of what they mean instead of the translated meaning of what they want to say. We do it learning other languages too.

When my 13yr old stepdaughter comes over, she will not bathe or brush her teeth, she is very needy and sits in a dark corner of our bedroom and does not talk the whole weekend. How can we stop this behavior? The most important thing for her is that everyone in her life be on the same page. Speak with her other parent (whom she lives with during the rest of the week). How does she behave there? What is she like at school? Was the movie "Starship Troopers" a bad rendition of Heinlein's book or a parody? The way I've heard it from people who read the book, it was a bad - very bad - rendition.
