Answer to:
What's the best freeware to speed up downloads with dialup
Programs that claim to speed up dialup simply compress images and sometimes a few other uncompressed file types so that web pages appear to load faster at the cost of image quality. They will not speed up downloads. For example, if you are downloading MP3's, ZIP or RAR files, they are already highly compressed and cannot be made to go any faster.

I am running version 7. My history shows up under History on the left side tool bar but when you go into Tools, Internet Options and then click on settings(under temp internet files) then click on view files it comes up blank. How can I get it to show up
The History and the Temporary Files are two different things. History is just the addresses you've been to, but the Temporary Files is data from the sites you've visited that is stored on your computer... things like small graphics, style sheets, etc. If your Temporary Files is empty, that's either because it's been deleted using the Delete button from the Internet Options...

If you're referring to a local domain as in a domain controller with active directory, you must use a DNS server.

What would make an online music player (for like myspace or IMVU) not show a playlist or play in Firefox when it will in IE? It used to, but the file host deleted some files and now it won't work. (replaced the missing files, already)
If it doesn't work in Firefox, it sounds like your Firefox Flash plugin is broken. You may need to reinstall it.

Answer to:
Is there any way that I can receive a (deleted and not read) receipt from a sent email? Barring accidental deletion or previewing for a shorter time than the timer for marking as read for the preview window.
No, that is not possible. There are only two kinds of receipts, delivery and read receipts. The delivery one doesn't always work as it depends on the remote mail server to support that function. The read receipts require the user on the other end to allow it. But there are no other kids of receipts.

Are you sure it's an actual check? Is there any fine print on the back around the endorsement area? Some nasty companies will put a tiny little contract where you endorse the check, and signing and depositing it binds you to the contract.
But definitely taking it to the bank and having them examine it first would be your best bet.

My monitor is working, but it's not receiving any connection from my computer, despite the fact it's properly plugged in. What could be the problem?
Check the pins on the monitor cable going into the computer, make sure none of them are bent.
If that's not it, most likely either your monitor or video card is broken. To narrow it down, you can try plugging a different monitor in and see if it works. If not, your video card is probably dead. If it does, then your monitor is probably toast.

Where can i get a corsor without risking geting a virus most of the sites ive been on i dont trust?
The best thing to do is make sure you don't download any executables (.exe files). Curses are stored in .cur or .ani files which is all you need. If they're inside an archive like a .zip or .rar, that should be okay. But if you have to run a program to install them, you're asking for trouble. You can install cursor files yourself by just going to the Mouse section in the...

It's getting there. Sprint just terminated over a thousand accounts of people who they claim called their customer service too much! If that's not a sign, I don't know what is. There is no federal law prohibiting nudity in public. As far as the various state laws, they are aimed at preventing pornographic nudity. Since it's rather difficult to differentiate between art and porn, some might say they are the same, most states/cities/counties just ban nudity all together.

A lot of cell phones require specific software to be installed in order to transfer files. This does not always come with the phone or the data cable and sometimes has to be purchased separately. The software should provide the driver so your computer will recognize the phone and should also have some sort of software for transferring data to/from your phone.

In a New York City Townhouse, what is the difference between a Garden Level and a Street Level? Which one are you on when you walk through the frount door?
I believe "street level" is a floor in which less than half the vertical space is below the ground level. "Garden level" would be a level which is exactly at ground level, not below. In New York, you'll probably find front doors that enter both types of dwellings. If you have to walk down steps to get to the door, you're probably entering the "street...

Seriously... I'd like to know if the saying "a drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts" is true.
Alcohol does lower your inhibitions which results in drunk people doing and saying things they normally wouldn't. Usually the things they say are simply what's actually going through their mind without having any consideration first.

If you found a very large amount of money, let's say thousands in sm bills, would you turn it in,? or would you need sometime to think it over? Who would you call first, your best friend or the police?
I'd call my best friend first, no matter what. But as far as turning it in, I suppose the circumstances would determine my course of action. First, the only people I know of that carry thousands of dollars in small bills around are drug dealers. So if it looked like drug money, I'd keep it and do something good with it. But if it were in a bank bag or some other legitimate looking...

Light would definitely be faster than thought since thought is a result of electrical impulses and electrons travel slower than light. As for time, I'm not sure that you could accurately compare it to light and thought. But I'd say it was slower only because the faster you go, the slower time goes.

The internet provider you choose should provide a modem or router with the service. They may also have an option to provide a wireless router, usually for an extra cost. If not, you can purchase a wireless router at your nearest computer store or online and connect that to your internet connection. If you're not familiar with how to hook these devices up, you will probably need to hire...

Is the soundtrack for the movie "Entropy"(1999) available for purchase? If so, where?
I don't think an actual CD soundtrack was ever published. But here is a list of the songs from the movie and you can probably purchase them either on their respective albums or individually from a place like iTunes.

Certain keys will not work on my laptop - the keys are UIOP which also have numbers on them - I press them and get nothing - How can I fix this? Thanks
Without actually seeing your laptop, it sounds like mechanical failure. But you may want to check and see if the number lock or scroll lock keys are activated. On laptops, they can sometimes alter the function of certain keys. However, they shouldn't stop the function of them all together.

Who said they turned off GSM access in the whole city yesterday?
Answer to:
Laptop users are experiencing dropped connections from our Citrix server after 15 minutes. This only effects users with Verizon Aircards. Other wireless connections to Citrix work fine. We are using Win 2003 on the Citrix server & Win XP on the laptop.
I would imagine you're experiencing high latency or packet loss over the cell network. I would recommend doing some connection tests from the laptop over the Aircard to the Citrix server. A simple constant ping should be enough to give you a good idea if there's any packet loss or high latency. If you're losing more than 10% of the packets, that is your problem. Or if your...

What does it mean when my computer says "Deleting Phishing Filter Data"?
You would normally see that when you delete all of the browsing history in IE7. The phishing filter information that your computer has cached is one of the things cleared when you delete all of the temporary files.

How do I stop the leaves from turning brown & falling off of a rubber tree plant?
It sounds like you're over watering. But you also need to make sure it's in the right climate. They like a year round hot, damp environment. Ideally, low 90's during the day, and not lower than 70 at night.

Has anyone used a professional data recovery service for a failed hard drive? If so, who do you recommend?
In the past, I've used Ontrack and First Advantage Data Recovery. Unfortunately, Ontrack charged me $5000 for rush recovery of a SCSI drive which they were not able to recover any data from (read the fine print!). However, First Advantage Data Recovery was able to recover data from a failed hard drive successfully for about $1200. I should note that the SCSI drive sent to Ontrack had...

Is google planning to make Picasa 3? If so when is it expected to be available?
I'm sure they are as Picasa is becoming very popular. However, like everything being developed at Google, unless they want the word to get out, it won't. And they haven't said anything about a version 3 yet. Unless a soon-to-be-fired Google employee wants to spill the beans, I think you'll have to wait for the official announcement.

What are your thoughts on Search engine optimization?
There is nothing you can do to an individual web site to actually effect your site to get a higher ranking. If that were possible, search engines would be useless since everyone could tweak their site to get to the top. Search engine companies go to great lengths to ensure people cannot do this.
However, there are things you can do to help make sure your site isn't given a lower...

Is 500 KBPS uplink is enough to host a DNS server serving 2 host names? This is not a high traffic website hopefuly we will have 100 visitors everyday
Absolutely, yes. DNS requests and responses are tiny amounts of data. You wouldn't even notice the amount of data from a 100 or even 10,000 hits a day on the DNS server.

Where can you buy THE best computers for the cheapest prices?
This is a matter of opinion. However, having owned my own computer repair business for the past 10 years, I can tell you that Dell is the best computer for the money. You can configure and order them online or if you have a Wal-Mart near by, they've started selling certain models there in the store.

Answer to:
Why do i get kicked off aim all the time..I never stay online more then 20 min..
This happens because something has interrupted your connection to the AIM server. Possible causes are router problems, network problems, firewall problems, or spyware/viruses on your computer. The first thing I would try is to disable or remove any firewall applications you may have installed. I would also check for any upgrades to your router firmware. And of course, be sure you have...
