Answer to:
out of all the marines, what percent actually kills somewon?
I'd guess 1 to 5% but I'm unsure. In Vietnam there was approximately one combat Marine for every ten in-country (nine in support roles). The greatest majority of combat Marines in Vietnam had to kill often (that's what we were there for). Even a Marines with a non-combat MOS saw combat there, so some of them had to kill the enemy as well. Since Vietnam, there have been a whole lot less people...

Are marines licensed to carry concealed weapons?
As a Force Recon team member in Vietnam (assigned to MAC-V SOG in DaNang) I carried a card (under the direct authority of the President) that allowed me to carry any weapon (in and out of uniform). I was not allowed to be detained or questioned. A copy of the card is posted here: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/33115#ixzz1eB4RelWY).

How long is the marine corps school of infantry?
When I joined in the mid 60's, infantry training was dependent upon your specialty. Non-combat MOS received only 2-weeks while an infantry related MOS received 6-weeks. This was cut to 50-60 hours in the early 70's because of the demand for Marines in Vietnam. After the War, an Infantry MOS went to Infantry Training School (ITS). You have to distinguish between someone (Army) assigned to a Ranger Batallion who completes the Ranger Indoctrination Program (28 days) and a person who attends the Ranger School and wins the tab (now a 61 day, combat leadership course).

In the Great War the Germans referred to the Marines as Devil Dogs (after the Battle of Belleau Wood in 1918). Must Navy SEALs use waterproof covers or do they carry firearms capable of operating after long immersion in salt water?
I'm a Force Recon Marine that served in Vietnam, so my answer is somewhat dated. :-) When I took BUD/S in 1969 we used condoms on the end of the rifle to insure that it wasn't fouled. Nothing more elaborate than that. Operationally in the jungle, we didn't even have that. As long as the water's drained, you're good to go.

The only fellow Marine that I've witnessed that could be diagnosed as psychotic, is one that's in the heat of combat. When the s*it hits the fan you don't want to be on the receiving side of a Marine war cry!

I heard the Marines hand to hand combat training program is now the gold standard, as it combines the BEST of many forms, and Marines must CONSTANTLY train with it their WHOLE careers. Better than SEALS and ALL the rest. Any disagreement?
It's a good system, although it was before my time (Nam). The key is not what you've been taught, but how you apply the training in a combat situation.

Why do the US Marines have the toughest reputation in the Military? Is their training harder than the other branches?
Is the training tougher? You bet! Is the discipline tougher? You bet! The difference is in the esprit de corps!

For me, like most guys it was hard. The most important thing to remember is:

-the DI's need to rag on you; it's nothing personal
-never give-up; don't worry, just keep trying until you're told to stop.

I served as a Force Recon Marine and was deployed to Vietnam. I completed 2 tours at MACV SOG CCN in Da Nang and deployed on my 3rd tour to MACT at Don Muang. Pregnancy can be hard on your body image, and some people have a difficult time admitting that their bodies are changing--especially when it means getting bigger. The good news is that there isn't any evidence that wearing tight fitting clothes is bad for mother or baby. So it isn't a medical concern, but will become a comfort issue pretty soon.

In the Mediterranean south of Sicily. It's really a great place. If you have time take the ferry to the island of Gozo. It's beautiful. Where do waves begin to break, and why is this?
It depends upon if there is a surface obstruction, if not it's a function of the depth. For example, over a flat reef, wave heights of 0.78 times the depth will become unstable and start to break. In other words a wave of 7.8 feet requires 10 feet of water to sustain itself. Long and short frequency waves behave differently and undertoe can also distrupt the wave stability.

Can police officers execute a search warrant without first telling the homeowner they have a warrant and physically pulling the disabeled person off the couch as they felt the person wasn't moving fast enough?
Proper execution normally requires the police to produce the search warrant before entry. "The homeowner" does not have to be found before the warrant is executed, only the occupants advised. The warrant may also be executed without anyone present. The existence of the warrant does not provide the police with an ability to utilize excessive force.

I'm glad I'm not dating nowadays, but what's most important is how you judge yourself, not what someone else thinks of you. You have to hold to your own sense of morality, whatever you define that to be.

The 1% symbol has thus become the mark of the outlaw bike rider and they display it on their colors, and many have it tattooed on their person. The HA have a few...

Personally, I've found it appropriate to set preliminary guidelines in having food in bed. I would explain to her the reasons and tell her that she's becoming a big girl and as she gets bigger there will be rules that she will have to follow. Why does God and Jesus, and religion always have to come up in gay marriage questions?
If a person has faith in God, they live their lives in their faith. Any decision they make in life is filtered through their beliefs. That does not mean that they will always listen, but it is always a factor. If the Bible is against gay marriage, people of faith will consider the Bible's wisdom in this area before making a decision.

The other day I was attending court for a speeding ticket & was very shocked at the way the judge was treating people. My question is this, is there a guideline that judges go by to run their courtrooms?
The deportment of judges is not regulated in most jurisdictions if that what you mean. Most of the time his decisions are what he's rated on i.e. how many of these are overturned in a higher court on appeal. If his judgements are in-line with a superior court, he will be considered for the next higher posting.

Overweight and older dogs will have more difficulty with the heat. The revolver uses a round cylinder that moves the bullets into firing position. The semi-automatic pistol utilizes a clip that feeds the ammunition into the breach from the magazine or clip. Because the pistol moves the actual rounds it has a chance of jamming in the action. Obviously this is a concern if you quickly need to fire the weapon. Revolvers do not jam, however ther are limited to 6...

Obviously people would prefer not to eat this, but I highly doubt that you would experience any negative effects from it (I have eaten molded fruit and rotten meat in survival situations without negative effect).

I am only 17 and i am thinking about gettin emanceipated. I am not sure if i should though. My parents are always yelling at me and they never let me do anything. The sat by and watched my grandpa while he beat me with a belt. I had brusies for 2 weeks!
Depending upon your jurisdiction, you may be deemed sui juris at 16. In any case, I'd talk to my parents and tell them that such a beating will never happen again. Perhaps they could tell you why you should not call the police or family services?

Speak to these people individually. Tell them that you know they are kidding around, but you don't find demeaning anyone funny (including you). Ask them to please keep this in-mind. Tell them you were going to get a coffee and if they would like one. You've said what's on your mind in a nice way and have shown you still value their friendship. :-)

'The Last Rites' are officially called the Viaticum, the sacrament of the dying. In Roman Catholicism, the Last Rites consist of a priest administering the Eucharist to a dying person. A lay person who has been designated an Eucharist Minister can also offer the Viaticum. It is not a requirement under the Canon of the Church, but is recommended for people who are dieing. Regardless...

A threatening gesture may be considered an assault under certain circumstances. Any way you look at it, it is a violent act. If this is the first time that he's acted this way, I would tell him that if it ever happened again your relationship would be over. Bigot: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices (Webster)
Yes! I'm intolerantly devoted to my opinion that:
1. People should love one another.
2. People should be free to choose their course in life as long as they do not harm another.
3. Worship or refrain from worshiping the God of their choice.

Christians, who do you think the god of this earth is?
Satan is referred to the Prince of this world (John 12:31, John 14:30, John 16:11), the god of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4) and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one (1 John 5:19). So I would conclude that during this time the ruler of the world (with the exception of those that are saved through Christ) is Satan.
Revelation 9:11, 12:9; 16:10 20:2,3 explains how Satan...

On the news this am: a lady in Massachusettes wants spanking to be illegal in that state.(Already teachers/caregivers cannot spank. This would pertain to the parents). Do you think spanking should be illegal as a form of punishment by parents?
No I don't support this at all. The State has a choice, it can raise all children the way they like, or get out of the home and let the parents do the job. This is not to say that abuse doesn't happen, but it's not automatically abuse to lovingly discipline your child. What the hell's going on with this country?

I had a judgement against me for late car payments by my bank. I agreed with the court to have my regular payments garnished from my payroll check. If not paid off yet, what do I do when I need a different vehicle? Can I sell it or trade it in?
You cannot sell the vehicle until it is clear of all liens and encumberances. Depending upon where you live, your lien may be indicated on the ownership (Georgia for example). This must be cleared before the vehicle can be sold. At any rate, you must discharge the loan at the bank. Once this is done you can sell the vehicle (often this is done at the same time). It would be wise to discuss this...

If you are a member of a specific religion, do you consider marriages conducted outside that religion (e.g. a civil ceremony in a registry office, or in a ceremony from another faith) to be valid marriages?
Marriage is a legal contract that may be conducted in various ways. Marriage is equally valid, as long as it conforms to the law. Various religions have a variety of traditions. On the other hand God(s) are not necessarily required to be included in the ceremony at all. The law defines marriage as a legal contract, not a spiritual one.
