Do you think an obese person should have to buy two seats on an airplane if they cannot fit into one? Any other ideas?
I'm not sure how buying two seats would help since the planes I've travelled on have definite separators that don't appear to be able to be removed.
Answer to:
why take flucloxacillin on an empty stomach
I should imagine it would be the same for many oral medications. Food in the stomach would interfere with the absorption of the medication so it's best if there's as little as possible in the stomach.

Oh yes! They were rather strong tasting. I got them when I had a cold once. I didn't like them until I'd had about 3 or 4. I think they're an acquired taste. Does anyone remember Victory V's?

Answer to:
Is ignorance bliss?
Ordinarily, I might have said yes to this because what you don't know cannot hurt you. However, I've just found out that 8 years ago I was used as a scapegoat for the motivation behind someone's disgusting treatment of another person. This is untrue. The perpetrator actually told me what it was that was driving them. I tried to dissuade them not to treat this person so horribly...
Answer to:
If jealousy had a smell. What would it smell like?
Yes, melanin is what darker people have more of and it's a fantastic protection from the sun. The disadvantage is that it doesn't allow the skin to absorb vitamin D from the sun so one would have to consume vitamin D instead.

How long did you know your partner before you got married? Do think length of time is related to success of the marriage?

Answer to:
Do you know what its like to be invisible for a long period of time.
I feel invisible quite a lot of this time. It doesn't feel very nice at all.
What's even stranger is that if I begin to do something, e.g., read a book or write in a notebook, the people who I'm invisible to suddenly want to know what I'm doing!
I suspect it's because they've noticed that I'm no longer listening to them as they probably expect I should be.

How did you learn about computers? i.e. "trial and error", friends, school. . .etc. etc.?
I had very little exposure to computers at school. The workplace taught me a lot more but that was only work-related applications. It was when my husband got a computer that I learnt much more and it was largely by trial and error. I'm no expert though so I can't fix it when it goes wrong. Someone please hammer that message home to my mother!

It was when my 3 cousins (all sisters) were encouraged by their father to come to our house while he worked (his wife had left him). My uncle didn't ask my mother if she'd look after her nieces, they were just sent there and it was assumed she would. I think I was about 5 at the time.

I wouldn't let them play with a phone, no. My friend's toddler got hold of her Mum's cell phone without her Mum realising it because she called me. When I realised it was my friend's daughter messing about, I hung up. When speaking with my friend later, she had no clue her daughter had been playing with her phone. Imagine her phone bill!

LOL. Maybe you are. I'm in the UK and don't have cable or satellite TV either. We just have the standard 5 channels that come with the TV. I can't be arsed with even more channels as things are. We record stuff we can't watch when they're broadcast, then play catch-up so extra channels would simply be overwhelming.

Does it anger or even just piss you off to no end that corporations keep making packaging smaller and smaller yet charging more and more for products the way they do with coffee, sugar, ice cream and so on?
They've been doing that for YEARS! I remember Wagon Wheels being much larger than they are. And Farley's Rusks. My husband said the other day that he could have sworn Cadbury's Creme Eggs had been bigger. I'm not sure about that one. Still, I know what you mean. It's a sneaky way to put the price up without actually having to put the price up.

That's an interesting question. Michelle McManus won a singing contest (either Pop Idol or XFactor, don't know which) and I read somewhere ages ago that since she shed some weight, her voice changed and she doesn't sing the same.

What is the best way to get a man off the computer and on the phone?
My husband does exactly the same. It's World of Warcraft for him. It annoys me that it's completely live and doesn't have a pause button so he can attend to things in his real life. I say to him that at least when I'm playing The Sims 2, I can press pause to do necessary things in the house, etc.

Why do some people have no friends even though they are nice?
I've been thinking some more about this question and I wonder if it's because people are wary when someone is nice as if they think that the nice person are hiding something and not showing their true selves. Whereas, say, someone who shows their flaws, perhaps a bit of a hot temper, for instance, then people know what they're getting when they relate to the not-so-nice person....

If someone agrees to help you do something and then only does a "half-assed" job helping, is it wrong to be mad at them for it? I always thought that if someone agrees to help, they should put some effort into it or there's no point in helping.
Sometimes it's hard to know if they're doing a half-assed job on purpose so they can avoid offering to help out in future or that the half-assedness is just their usual standard, in which case, they're being genuinely helpful.

The 'excuse me' isn't rude but the pushing you out of the way rather than waiting for you to move is.
I don't know why people don't use good basic manners.
I think in your case they were trying to excuse their bad behaviour rather than 'excuse me, I'd like to get passed'.

It depends how desperately untidy your home is. If it's really bad, make a start but don't overwhelm yourself by doing too much otherwise you'll be exhausted and it'll put you off. Litte and often. Oh, and plenty of cups of tea (and chocolate digestives), just to keep your strength up ;)

How do I get my 2 1/2 yr old to quit her back talk? for example- I will tell her to get rid of her attitude, and then she says with a pointed finger, "You have a attitude".
At her age, I wonder if she would know what the word attitude means. Not that you should stop using large words because you wouldn't want to hinder her vocabulary. So, perhaps along with that say something like, "I am not happy with the way you speak to me."

Is it pointless for women to have pants with zippers or buttons in the front, though they aren't men, and can't use them like we do?
but if you don't have the zipper/buttons, you'd need an elasticated waist and that's a big no no for a woman trying to watch her weight. Better to have fitted trousers and know when it's time to begin to cut back than have an elasticated waist which will give you the illusion that everying is ok... until you wear a non-elasticated pair of trousers and have an almighty shock.

Does it annoy you when someone asks you to guess something that you have no idea about? For instance, "Guess what I got for my birthday?" or "Guess how much it will cost to paint my house?" You could guess for 10 years and not get it.
It's not so bad if they just want you to acknowledge they've got something to tell you. As a previous respondent wrote, "What?" is sufficient enough to encourage them to speak about whatever is exciting them. It becomes annoying if you make a genuine guess and they say, "No, guess again," so you do and on and on it goes.

Why is that any act of kindness is looked with suspicion and people tend to wonder if there is a deeper motive hidden behind that kindness. Have you ever felt so?
I've been aware of people looking at my kindness with suspicion. I'm assuming it's because, in the past, they've been hurt somehow and this was their 'attackers' first approach: kindness to draw them into trusting and then the attack happens. When I say 'attack' I don't mean physical but something emotional, like being let down in someway.

They both ultimately sound like ways to avoid something. Procrastination by putting off doing something and inefficiency by not doing it as well as you could. I guess it could be passive-aggressive but then perhaps the person is just unmotivated in that particular area. One cannot like everything have to do, can they?

What takes the most out of you: anger or forgiving?
I'd say anger takes the most out of me with all the negative energy surrounding it and I feel no better for it, only worse. Forgiving, although harder initially, allows me to move on sooner and concentrate on being happy.

No, but when I was a kid, I opted to have tints in my spectacles because my eyes are a little sensitive to light and almost everyone asked me if I had black eyes! I had to take off my spectacles to prove that I hadn't. When I got my next prescription, I got ordinary prescription lenses.

I've had this but from co-workers, saying something like, "We can't tell you, you're too young," as if trying to protect my innocence! As if! I felt they were pulling my chains and it was a different way of saying that they didn't want to share information with me. Talk about exclusion!

If ghosts go through walls, why don’t they fall through the floor?
That's a really good question and my youngest son asked a similar one of a character in the TV series, Enterprise, who used the transporter for the first time and it went wrong. She was basically like a ghost, her hands went through things, she could walk through walls, people couldn't see her. So, my son asked why she didn't fall through the floor.
Sadly, I was unable to...

Yes. I've regretted not finding my wedding dress with my Mum. I was shopping with a friend and didn't expect to find one I liked; we were basically 'window shopping'. Unfortunately, I saw one I liked and had to have it. I wish I just forgot about it and went on a new wedding dress hunt with my Mum.

Nowadays, yes it is. But to look back in history, sometimes children were married off at the age of 12. I think this was because people then had shorter life-spans.

If I'm suffering, such as paying a lot of attention to them, getting all stressed out over them, then I rate the problems to be important. If they're something I just ponder on from time to time, then they're not that important.

If you were in a spaceship travelling at the speed of light and you switched on the light would anything happen?
That's a really interesting question. I'm guessing that the light you switch on would operate normally. I don't have any scientific reasoning for that answer. I just cannot imaging travelling the speed of light would affect what would happen switching on a light. I'm guessing they're both independent of each other.

When you get in from work you can suggest that your wife take a nice, long hot bath while you look after your baby. At the weekend, you could both share getting up in the night, unless she's breast feeding, in which case, you can change his nappies/diapers either before or after his feed. Is eating all your meals (breakfast lunch and dinner) all within three hours and not eating for the rest of the day because youve already eaten all your meals an eating disorder?
I don't know. The Romans used to eat one huge meal a day. I believe it was 5 courses and I don't know how long it would have taken to eat them. It was just their lifestyle so we couldn't accuse them of having an eating disorder. So, if anyone now ate the equivalent of their three meals in one sitting but nothing else for the rest of the day, then that could be their lifestyle.

My 'great escape' was from my mother. As it should happen, children grow up and start their own lives. If you were unhappy working night shift and were offered a day position, would you take it, even if it meant making $5,000 less a year?
So, long as all the bills can easily be paid with $5,000 less then I'd go for the happiness. Once feeling happier, you could then feel more motivated to apply for a better paid job.

If you had the chance to erase and start your life over to correct all your mistakes, would you? Or would you continue your life hoping not to make the same mistakes?
I'd love to. My only concern would be that if I corrected any mistakes, would it result in the absence of my beautiful children? If so, then I'd prefer to keep the mistakes so I can make sure to have my children. I'm not saying my children are a result of any mistake - they were well planned - I'm talking about any mistake having a ripple effect throughout life, for...

Why can't we just 'let go' when we know it's already over?
I think it depends on the situation. A few years ago, I sensed a friend pulling away from me. I asked if I did/said something wrong. She said no but then maintained silence. It is incredibly hard. I would say a letter or email. Be aware, though, even if you send a letter or email, they may not choose to open it. But at least you'll have said what you needed to say and will hopefully be able to move on from that. Just don't expect a reply as you could end up disappointed.

Why is the thought of having children so terrifying to some people?
It's a massive responsibility and it could be that being 100% responsible for another human being that scares them. If they feel this way and are in any doubt at all, they're doing the wisest thing to wait until they are ready, however long that may be, if ever.

I would make up a new name because there are not many of 'us' in the UK. I would want to protect my family's identity as much as I could. If you're famous, there'll be loads of people who like you and want to tell you about it and loads of people who hate you and want you to know about it. Then there's the stalkers.

Is forgiveness for the forgiver or the forgiven?
I think it's largely for the forgiver so they can let go and move on but it could be for the forgiven if they are feeling really guilty about their misdeed. If they couldn't care less, obviously it's hopeless letting them know you've forgiven them and have to find some way to forgive them in your mind so you can move on.

Answer to:
Is it strange for a man in his late thirties to be single and have never been married or had children?
Not necessarily. My friend is 50 and single with no children. I've asked if he'd ever been married and he went quiet, obviously a sensitive subject there. I sense he may have loved and lost and never had the confidence to pursue another relationship with anyone. He's such as sweet person and quite shy around people, doesn't like socialising, spends a lot of time on his own....

Have you ever walked into a wall or mirror, unintentionally?
No but I have walked into a door frame while walking through it. It's a pre-menstrual symptom - my co-ordination goes all to pot. I tend to also get very clumsy and drop things.
Answer to:
Are you happy with your given names?
I wasn't while I was growing up. Teachers at school would call me another name that they thought sounded similar. I had to write it down for them to see what it actually was. People sometimes spell my name wrong, be it the first letter or transpose the last two letters. I've seen many attempts at spelling my name. What's worse is that they keep doing it even after I've sent...

Answer to:
What does it mean to be "open minded"?
It means you're open to listening and learning other people's views and opinions without forcing your own upon them in a way that's aggressive, condescending and arrogant. My friend is a poor listener and expresses her views in this way. It doesn't feel very nice.

Under the desks at the school where I work. If your fingers just snake over the edge of the desk, say, while standing up, there's a risk you'll touch one! Yuk!

Why would one take their socks off unless the gynaecologist was a chiropodist and doing two jobs at once? I don't think s/he would be interested in your ones feet.

Do you have a crush on someone, if so why haven't you told them and when do you plan to tell them if you do tell them?
Well, yeah but it's only a 'look but you can't touch' kind of crush. I haven't told him because 1) He'd be mortified and 2) I'm married. I won't tell him and just continue to quietly admire him from a distance.
Answer to:
My dad wants me to keep a diary, but i know that he would just read it. should I tell him why i won't get a diary?
I'd go along with his idea and get one anyway. Just make sure to write in code, just totally random words that to someone else would look like utter nonsense. He'll give up in the end. I used to be friends with this couple and the husband confessed to me he read his wife's diary. I was mortified but kept quiet. After they divorced, she told me she knew he was reading her diary...

My husband wants me to change. He doesn't like the way I look, the way I do the things. As I have been home maker since marriage. He doesn't even like the way I take care of house. He complaints more and appretiates less. How can I change myself?
There's no need to change you but it sounds like you need to change your husband! I'd tell him if he's so unhappy with his life with, he can go and find someone else. He'll probably find any other woman wouldn't live up to his standards either.
Answer to:
My mom is the biggest drama queen b**** in the world and i need to say this to get my anger out. i could just hope that the car shes driving right now would just explode. have you ever felt this?
I've been angry at my mother but never so much that I'd wish something horrible happened. More like that I wish we could have a better relationship and I'm happy to say that it's been much improved for almost a year now.

Yeah! I loaned two books to a friend. She's still got one of them and the other I asked because someone else wanted to borrow it. It was like getting blood out of a stone as she said she'd already returned it! Ahem - no! I'm guessing she's loaned the other one out.

My bf has asked me to have a 3some with him, i have never had a 3some and it sounds ok but then i am 100% straight, and another girl might just be wierd what should i tell him?
Just guage his reaction by stating you'd rather have a 3some with another guy as well as him. If he hates the idea (which I'm guessing he will), tell him that's exactly how you feel about another girl being brought into the equation. Sometimes a 2girl, 1guy scenario is a guy's fantasy.

Are you starting to stress out about buying xmas gifts?
I dread shopping for gifts. Try as I might, I sense I always get it wrong with people. I gauge that when I don't hear the word 'thank you' or see it in a written form by whatever means: card, letter, SMS, email. So, from that I assume they didn't like it.
I don't know if my brother has dropped out of the gift exchange this year. We buy birthday and Chrismtas gifts...

Would you rather be unnoticed or scrutinized? Why?
I'd prefer to be unnoticed. At work, I can't even have a canteen meal instead of my usual sandwiches without someone (one person, in particular) commenting on it. I can't even do any writing without her asking if I'm writing a novel. It's none of her business what I do or eat during my lunchtime or if I choose to change my routine. Why should it come under her scrutiny?...

Assuming you've stuck to structure, function etc, can you say you've removed all unnecessary words? All the waffle? Clever use of connectives might help. Does your word count include sources? If so, instead of placing your sources in brackets, you can use the superscript numerical system to reference your sources then list them in a bibliography with the correct corresponding...

Yes, about 8 years ago, I became acquainted with someone who seemed very nice online and we became e-friends. Eventually our families met up. His wife was lovely. He wasn't as nice as he first appeared. We used to text during the day. I told him one day I had an appointment at the opticians as I desperately needed a new prescription in my spectacles. Do you sleep better alone or next to someone?
It changes over the years for me. When my DH and I first got married, it took a while to adjust to someone else being in the bed. Then it got to the point where I couldn't go to sleep unless he was there. Now, it doesn't matter who goes to bed first, I can just sleep. Whether I stay asleep is something else, he can still disturb me by moving around, hence the quilt goes with him!...

That's an interesting point. I always thought they didn't like hearing their sense of humour they give out to people. But I've noticed it's only certain people they take offence to. Person A could crack a joke with person B; person B would use the same humour in response and both would have a laugh. Another time, person A would crack a joke with me and I'd respond...

"You look awful today." Actually, I have said that because sometimes she does look awful when she's ill or stressed. I mean it in a nice way of course and she knows I'm not being mean when I say it.
Answer to:
What are your top ten tips in reaching ultimate selfishness?
I can only think of one:-
Let your only daughter, not your two sons, know through guilt-trips and negative comparisons, that you expect her to look after you in your old age despite the fact that she's already got a severely disabled child to look after, who is NOT terminally ill therefore will will need care for the rest of his life.
Answer to:
Do people know you're serious when you mean to be, and joking when you are joking, or do you sometimes send mixed messages?
Some people don't know when I'm joking and take offence. I don't joke with people first, they crack a joke with me and I'll respond in the same manner to carry on the banter for fun and they get offended! It's like a double standards thing going on: it's ok for them to joke with me but not me with them. Nice!

No, it's nice to take an interest and be available to listen to children about their college life. I wouldn't pry though. It's enough to ask how things are and ask if they'd like to share anything with you, if not, then ok, no problem. Just be available if they want to talk.

Absolutely not. How can you mourn someone you never knew? You might feel a bit sad that you never had the opportunity to know her but you can't be expected to mourn her.

Do you have bad handwriting?
Overall, I'd have to answer no to that. I can write neatly. In primary school our Headmaster taught us handwriting skills (his handwriting was beautiful). I can write like that on covering letters say, for job applications. It takes a long time, however, and my arm aches afterwards. My usual style of writing is legible although I wouldn't class it as neat - it could be better....

What is vasodilation?
It's where the capiliaries widen towards the edges of the skin. You may look a bit red because of the blood in that area. This happens when you're hot and need to cool down, the body is letting some heat out of the blood via the skin. I know you haven't asked but vasoconstriction is where the blood moves away from the surface of the skin, the capiliaries narrow and the blood...
