No. Loss is loss, grief is grief, fear is fear, anger is anger - to some extent generically. Otherwise if we were isolated in our own unique experience, there could be no compassion or caring that would help us. We know there is.

No one can ever replace someone else. I sense you are making comparisons here, which will never work. You need to close the book on your relationship with the one who died, give him a special place in your heart that NOBODY else could possibly have, and then move on to something entirely new with someone else. I've been there and all this takes time - usually several years.

I came of age (rather late) in the sixties. It was an era of "anything goes" and "If it feels good, do it" - neither of which turned out to be a very good idea. I like now better than then, perhaps because I'm in a more peaceful place than I was then, but also because I think we need to be in control of and responsible for our actions in ways people weren't then.

I think maybe those of us who have sons may have been more affected by Michael Jackson's affinity for young boys than those who don't. Some people seem totally unaffected by that part of his life. What do you think?
I have a son and he didn't even enter my head during all the pedophile stuff with MJ. I can admire his talent because it was very plain that he was a gifted dancer/musician. I can also be horrified about the pedophilia.Guess I've compartmentalized him.

I think I may have hurt your feelings unintentionally. If so, sorry. Very often obsession gets confused with love. The key is if the desire is mutual or not because love is, by definition, mutual. Do you think people that stand in front of an abortion clinic and protest need to find something else to do with thier time and get a life? I do.
I agree because they don't change someone's mind who already has an appt. In fact, they harass and distress those people. This is the problem with legislating people's private lives. Anyone who wants and abortion should be able to get one. That's the law. So, if you really want to go out on a limb, you could call protesters criminals.
