Was that justified? I think it's justified... a 9 year old cannot defend himself physically against a 36-year old man, and the law would take that into consideration. This man who broke in was old enough to know that there were risks -- whether it was a 9-year old boy or a violent attack dog.. If it was a healthy adult, I think there would have been a greater consequence.

Honestly What Do you Think Of Oklahoma? I spent several years in OKC and it was, overall, a very good experience. The one downfall I found was the health care there wasn't as good as other places I've lived. I don't think that self harm is an addiction, but I do think it is a way of coping with emotion. My feet turn outwards when I walk. Not completely 90 degrees (more like 45) but it's noticeable. Is there a way to fix this so that my feet point forward more? I've been told it's the cause of many of my back problems. I have the same problem, my feet turn out from birth. I was told once that you can re-train yourself to walk with them pointing more forward, it does take a lot of concentration. After awhile, you don't need quite as much concentration and it does work a bit. For me surgery was an option, but not one that I took. My parents had no problem with a spank or a slap when I got out of line as a kid -- and I learned real fast not to do it again. My 25 year old step daughter still lives at home. She was in a car accident when she was 16 and had a brain injury and it seems that she is stuck at 16. How would you go about getting her out of your home besides getting married? In a lot of places, there are housing programs for people who for one reason or another don't have the skills to live independently -- group homes or independent living programs that supervise people in their own apartment setting.. If you and your husband can't care for her they might be worth looking into?

My theory is people who frequent chat rooms every day for long periods of time are people who have some sort of baggage or "issue" whether it's emotional, psyhcological, financial or etc. My friend says no. Who's right? Could be... There was a time I would think nothing of spending 10 or 12 hours a day sitting in chat rooms -- the same period of my life I would spend hours per week in therapy.

Why are homeless people left out in the streets? Lots of reasons.. Some don't have friends or family to stay with. Some have too much pride to go to a shelter or ask for help. Some people are too mentally ill/addicted to realize they even need help. Some shelters are too full for them. Homelessness is a hard cycle to break.

If she gets pregnant without medical help, then I wouldn't think it's selfish at all -- just God's plan. If she needs to use technology (most likely) Then yes, I think it is extremely selfish--there are plenty of other ways to make a difference in the life of a child.

When you grow up with little restriction (like todays kids) , you can't appreciate the joy you do have in life. Remote cabin, I would think. Personally, I would rather raise my child in a safe little town than in a big city where, even home schooled, negative social influences are more likely to occur.
