The same thing that gives them the right to use the proof in the bible to say that Muslims or Pagans aren't christian because their beliefs are different too.

Does either wishing on a star or saying a prayer to your God produce the desired outcome?
Not necessarily the desired outcome, sometimes no matter how much you think you know what you want, God says no.
Prayer is successful only if a person recognizes that as soon as they ask for something, they are leaving the outcome in the hands of someone other than themselves. When they do that, they should be prepared to accept that whatever happens and that they are where they are...

Do not take offense as this is a sincere question. Do you think the bible is in need of a "Newer" testament from this day in age?
If God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow then there is no need for a "newer" testament because God and his plan have not changed. Once every single prophecy of the bible (old and new) has shown to happen, maybe then there will be a need for a book to tell us more.

Do you think it's good for parents to be closely involved in their college aged children's lives, or is it time to cut the apron strings?
If a child is mature enough to handle college, then they should be mature enough to make many of life's decisions on their own. There comes a time when the best thing a parent can do is to loosen the apron strings a bit. It's a time to learn to relate to your child, in many ways, as an adult. Don't try to protect them, but be there when your advice is asked, and be there to...

Did you ever have to read parts of the bible in public school? If so did it offend you if you weren't of Christian faith?
Teaching objectively about other faiths doesn't bother me. Reading the book of Christians and Jews is no different than studying about any other religion. I think that understanding what others believe builds religious tolerance. If they were preaching, however, it would be a different story.

On Oct. 4, 2007 the US House of Representatives voted in favor of a resolution honoring the Islamic religious observance of Ramadan. Past requests to honor Christian, Jewish faiths or to recognize Kwanza have been quickly shot down. Your thoughts?
What was once considered a Christian nation is quickly becoming an Islamic nation -- and Christians are just standing by watching as they are discriminated against, slowly their rights are being taken away.
I'm not looking for a Christian-based government (I don't necessarily celebrate as Christian faith). I just think whats inappropriate to honor religious observance to other...

In 1994, a 36 year-old man tried to break into a house but was shot and killed by a 9 year-old boy who knew how to handle a deer hunting rifle. The boy was found not guilty of murder. Was that justified?
I think it's justified... a 9 year old cannot defend himself physically against a 36-year old man, and the law would take that into consideration. This man who broke in was old enough to know that there were risks -- whether it was a 9-year old boy or a violent attack dog..
If it was a healthy adult, I think there would have been a greater consequence.

because if you do the same exact thing over and over it shouldn't take you long to figure out you'll get the same result. I look at addiction to mean both physical and mental dependence on something. I don't think that self harm is an addiction, but I do think it is a way of coping with emotion. Any group that bothers people with trying to push their religion on people is just showing how brainwashed they are. A truly spiritual person feels no need to do this -- their actions are what speaks and people will be more encouraged to follow. As soon as somebody says "are you saved?" or they come knocking on my door, they turn me away.

My father rarely calls, I havent called for 7 wks. I have been testing him to see if he would call to see if he really cares. Should I just give up and call or hold out to see if he calls me. maybe its stupid but Id like him to care about R relationship.
My birth father is like that. His feeling is it's not his job to call or visit his kids, it's there job to call him. It took me a long time to understand that he does care, in his own way, but I just had to get used to finding my "fatherly" support somewhere else.

I'm not sure how to answer that one. The King James version of the bible removed several of the books that still exist in the Catholic bible. My 25 year old step daughter still lives at home. She was in a car accident when she was 16 and had a brain injury and it seems that she is stuck at 16. How would you go about getting her out of your home besides getting married?
In a lot of places, there are housing programs for people who for one reason or another don't have the skills to live independently -- group homes or independent living programs that supervise people in their own apartment setting.. If you and your husband can't care for her they might be worth looking into?

It does bother me, but at the same time I know that generally it (in their head anyway) isn't intentionally a remark against God. Using the word hell, unless it's being used in a biblical sense, also bothers me..

Lots of reasons.. Some don't have friends or family to stay with. Some have too much pride to go to a shelter or ask for help. Some people are too mentally ill/addicted to realize they even need help. Some shelters are too full for them. Homelessness is a hard cycle to break.

I think they (I) appreciate the fun I had more than kids do today. When you grow up with little restriction (like todays kids) , you can't appreciate the joy you do have in life. Kids today may think they are having more fun in the moment, but life is going to be a whole lot harder for them as they grow up and try to function in a society with rules.

Remote cabin, I would think. Personally, I would rather raise my child in a safe little town than in a big city where, even home schooled, negative social influences are more likely to occur.
