Answer to:
Do you think that your vote matters? (I'm thinking about the presidential election here.)
My vote definitely matters. Even beyond who becomes president, it is very important to vote. State and local politicians use voting data to reflect changes in voter patterns. If a local district with 1,000 active voters went 60/40 for Bush in 2004 and 55/45 for Obama in 2008 it sends a message to people in charge. Conversely, if that same district votes 60/40 for McCain it will send a...

There is this family that had given me problems they are always getting on my personal life I had enough of it . They are illegal immigrants and I want to deport them they have a kid that was born here. What can I do to deport this family?
It's not that easy. Depending on where you live the local police might not be authorized to arrest illegal immigrants. The easiest solution is to try to work out your differences. If they do something that violates laws that local police can enforce (i.e. egg your house, harass you, shoot at you, etc.) then call the police. Even if they end up in jail they most likely won't be...

Can the police fix a polygraph to go in their favor?
Since polygraphs are not admitted in court there wouldn't be much of a point to "fixing" one.
Of course there are stories of police being less than truthful about lie-detection technology in order to elicit confessions. Here's my favorite such story: http://www.snopes.com/legal/colander.asp

In the past I went to prostitutes a few times. I recently started dating this really nice girl. Should I be open with her about being with prostitutes? I'm afraid if I do she'll dump me on the spot. What do I do?
Have you been tested for STDs? How long has it been since your last, ahem, "visit"? If the answers are yes and many years respectively than there's no rush. You have to be honest about it, but you don't necessarily have to call her up and say "Hey honey, guess what I used to do!" You can frame it in a serious discussion about you and your partner's sexual...

Pls, can you advice me how to get this lady out my mind in the fastest time. i dont even want to think or have any feelings for her again.
I'm tempted to say that time heals all wounds. But since AB is trying to be more educational than conversational, here goes:
It won't happen overnight, but you can ween yourself off of her. Go out with your friends, do things that you enjoy. Take up a new hobby. You will think of her less often and with less emotion.

Anyone watched 48 hours or ID last night? What do you think about Sterling Barber? Speak up your opinions if you can I am writing a paper about it.
There are thousands upon thousands of cases where the defendant may or may not be guilty. The best we can do is trust in the legal system and hope they get it right. None of us was in the truck with Barber that night and we can't say for sure what happened.

Good question. First, Google estimates the number of results so different searches may generate different estimates. There are also slightly different results for people in different areas.

On Google Earth why are some populated sections of countries still not clear.
I'm looking at the Gulf of Korinth area in Greece and I can clearly see Korinth, Vraxati, Kiato but when it comes to Xylokastro the whole thing is blurry.
It depends on how they image the area. Some places have not been visited by the satellite in years so they do not have very good resolution.

How do I find out what Google Adwords a competitor is using to drive traffic to their website?
The easiest way is to start Googling related words and see if they come up. Google your business' name to make sure they aren't illegally using it for their own gain.
Look at the source code for their homepage. Are they using any meta tags? Some websites still use these even though they are not good for very much. Google those tags and see if they are buying any of them on...

If I had my own train.Would I be able to visit every BR station in the uk without being lifted off the rails?
No. The authorities would never allow it.
Answer to:
What company made the first rail road car? What did it look like?
No particular company made the first railroad car. Railroads simply took carriages and mounted rail wheels on them.
Answer to:
Has anyone heard of any train robberies or are thieves targeting trains? What would Jesse James do?
Look at the reasons that people used to rob trains compared with the status quo:
*Large piles of cash on board--not anymore. Armored trucks carry some money and the Internet carries the vast majority of it.
*Isolated trains out of touch with the authorities--modern trains have GPS tracking and are in constant radio contact wth dispatch.
Answer to:
Why are some car parks free whereas others charge?

Given your needs, you might want to consider a cheap laptop with a GPA receiver and software like Microsoft Streets and Trips. That is legal. There are several states that already have these laws. You're on the government's land when you're driving.

Answer to:
I will pay-off my students loans soon; they are my oldest installment accounts on my credit report. I have 10 years of credit with the loans vs 3 years on credit cards. Will closing the old student loans drastically lower my FICO score? Alternatives?
No. If your score is currently high because of paying things off on time than it will not drop once you finish paying your loan. Your credit history will still reflect your (presumably) zero or insignificant number of late payments and you'll remain in good shape.
Answer to:
Do negative items really come off your credit report in 7 years? I had a credit card over 8 years ago that did not know it was on my report until I received a letter in the mail. Now interest has been added.
If people are still after you for money than it might still be there. Go to annualcreditreport.com and look up your report. BTW, that website was set up by an act of Congress and you are legally entitled to 1 free credit report every year from each of the 3 credit reporting agencies. It is NOT affiliated with FreeCreditReport.
Answer to:
How many consecutive quarters, if any, has the U.S. had negative GDP growth?

If I apply for a credit card, is there a way for me to find out how much of a credit limit I am approved for before actually committing to getting the card? Because if I am not approved for at least a $1000 limit I would not want to get the card.
Call the phone number on the application and ask the company that question. Since you are a potential customer they should treat you well and try to accommodate you.

As i was taken to adult hospitals the last few times, my ambulance bills have been billed to me (17 and no source of income). bills went unpaid and debt collectors started calling. will this ruin my credit rating when im an adult?
Yes it can. While certain aspects of your criminal record are sealed when you pass the mystical barrier of your 18th birthday, your credit follows you. Your best option is to talk to the debt collectors, explain your situation, and try to work out some payment plan. Even if they want all of their money now, sending anything will help show you really care about your credit rating.

Yes. Being a Christian Republican in college often means that people either don't understand or dislike me without getting to know me.

Should technology replace humans in decision making within sport to eradicate errors, at the risk of losing the romance?
Technology is not a panacea. Human officials can make split second decisions that take dozens of variables into account. They are usually extremely accurate. Technology can usually only measure one or two variables at a time and it still requires human interpretation. Relying on technology would slow down games horribly and only slightly increase accuracy.

He had bought it for his tough commute to work so we wouldn't wear out one of our nicer cars. He drove it so hard that it didn't think it was safe for how he drove anymore so I inherited it. I could have asked for a new car like most people in my high school, but all I...

Pundits and talking heads will talk endlessly before and after. The candidates will give their talking points like they have done before.
(I know that the debate already happened, but this is what I think of all primary debates.)

Is NASA telling all they really know?
As addition to the self-evident conjecture of some of the other answers, there is evidence that NASA is hiding some of their data from the public. Radio aficionados used to be able to listen to space shuttle communications using scanners. After an astronaut reported seeing something he didn't recognize flying around, people accused NASA of covering up UFO encounters. Soon thereafter...
Answer to:
What are your objections to "born again" Christians?
I have no objections to born again Christians. The book of Luke says that people must be born again in Christ. The contemporary evangelical movement generally requires its members to identify a time when they were born again. I have trouble choosing one specific event in my life where I was born again, but I still feel the same love of Christ.

Why does the United States Postal Service offer better salaries than the Central Intelligence Agency for engineers?
Supply and demand. The CIA has hundreds of times more applicants than they could ever hire. There is unequaled prestige in working for the Central Intelligence Agency and people want it on their CVs and resumes. The CIA could offer no salary and they would still attract some qualified applicants.
The USPS, on the other hand, does not have that kind of prestige associated with it....

Has anyone ever had a problem with the United States Postal Service? Please feel free to rant.
In my experience, problems with the Postal Service have stemmed from individuals not doing their jobs and equipment not being maintained. I have not had any real problems with the system itself. I firmly believe that the American mail system is the greatest in the world, all things considered.

Answer to:
In the New Testament, are the Gospels more important than the rest of the books/letters, or must the N.T. be read as a whole, each book/letter contributing the same measure of importance?
This only becomes a real question if the Gospel contradicts something that happens elsewhere in His book. Consider all of the New Testament as being holy. The Gospels are special because they relate the life and resurrection of Christ.

Answer to:
What happens when a letter is returned to sender due to improper postage? Can you just add the additional postage needed, or must you put the letter in a new envelope and start from scratch?
It depends. Most of the time you will get it back quickly with a friendly reminder to add more postage. Occasionally the stamps may be canceled before they catch the insufficient postage, in which case you have to pay all of the postage again. If the stamp(s) don't have any markings on them than you can use them again.

Has the USPS lost their mind with this "Forever Stamp"? Who is going to buy tons of stamps waiting for their next increase to take place? Who knows how long they will even be in business? What are you thoughts?
The USPS has agreed not to increase postage at a rate significantly higher than inflation. This means that if they collect more money now from the Forever Stamps than they can invest it and collect interest from now until they are actually used. This is a great long-term moneymaker for the USPS. I also suspect that people will be buying more stamps than usual, thus increasing the Postal...

It is hard to earn a living through online games, however, even working full time.

What percent of the 47,000 hotels and motels in the USA are owned by Indian-Americans?
That's a tough question because no one keeps demographic records of businessmen. Most of the 47,000 hotels are run by larger corporations, and you ought to be able to find out who runs those.
Good luck,

Is it true that a single bullet can kill more than one person?
Yes, it is possible for a bullet to kill more than one person. If two or more people are standing back-to-back it can pass through all of them. If a bullet strikes a container that holds flammable substances (a realistic possibility in tactical situations) than it can kill many people.

Do bullets use gun powder? And if so what for?
Bullets have gun powder either around the projectile (rimfire) or behind it. In either case it is the smokeless gunpowder that generates the force to propel the projectile out of the barrel and toward its target.

Answer to:
Is the safety catch on firearms usually on the left hand side of the handle for the right hand thumb?
Yes it is. I almost never use my safety. When I do not want to shoot things I keep my weapon unloaded. I load, shoot what needs to be shot, then unload if there's any ammunition left. The safety does not compensate for people breaking the three rules of gun safety.

How does the caliber of a weapon compare to its decibel level?
Generally speaking, larger caliber weapons are louder. This is only partially true, however, as black powder and shotguns are often louder than equally large rifles.
Answer to:
Was the M14 replaced by the M16? If so, why?
The M14 is popular among some people who want more stopping power. Fully jacketed M16 rounds tend to pass right through people whereas M14 rounds stop them dead in their tracks. There is an interesting passage about this in the book "Blackhawk Down."

Answer to:
Does all 9mm handgun ammunition contain lead?
Most of it does, which can pose a health risk if you are not careful. When you're cleaning up brass after you finish shooting, make sure you immediately wash your hands using cold water. That way your pores will not open up and soak up the lead into your skin. Dry your hands and wash them with cold water two more times.

Is it true that if you shot a unsilenced handgun with a pillow in front of it, this would make the noise of the shot silenced?

That and the wife might wonder what happened to her Company Store 600 thread count Egyptian Silk pillow. Do you really want to have to explain that?

Concealed gun permit.
What does the class consist of?
In Virginia there is no requirement for concealed weapons classes. I shoot at Blue Ridge and their CCW class is intense. Other ranges have classes that take less effort. I know that Vermont does not require any class or permit to carry concealed.
The real rule is whether or not you feel comfortable carrying based on your level of knowledge. Even after you have the permit you really need...
Answer to:
Will a .45 ACP bullet fired from a handgun into a person enter and exit the body?
It depends on the exact situation. There are several reasons that you do not want a bullet leaving your target's body. A bullet that enters and leaves the body has not given the target all of its energy. A bullet that lodges, on the other hand, transfers all of its energy to the subject. This is why military and armor piercing rounds are not as good against people and animals as...

Answer to:
Is it true that if a person was shot in the head it would explode?
No. A person's head will not explode. If you are shot with a low powered .20 caliber handgun than the bullet will enter your skull and bounce around inside, tearing your brain to shreds. A higher powered hunting round, on the other hand, will create a small hole where it enters and cause severe damage on the exit. The head will not explode, but there will be a gaping hole in the back

Answer to:
Are people ever struck by stray bullets shot in the air?
Yes it is possible. What comes up must come down and all bullets have to land somewhere. It is also possible for someone to be hit by a bullet fired at the ground or water. Bullets are small and fast and behave in unexpected ways when encountering different materials.
Remember: ALWAYS keep your gun pointed in a safe direction!

Answer to:
How large of a loan am I looking at in order to get my small gun shop going?
It depends on many factors. I live in an area with really expensive land and not many hunters. It will cost much more to start a shop here than it would in, say, Vermont. It would also probably make less money.
Answer to:
Should guns be outlawed completely?
People fail to understand how beneficial hunting is for wildlife. Carefully controlled hunting with tag limits and limited seasons help populations grow in a sustainable manner. If you eliminate the hunters there will be an unsustainable number of deer and other creatures overrunning populated areas. I live in southeastern Pennsylvania where this is already happening.

Sheriff Joe cuts costs by not having an expensive building and gives back to society through chain-gang work.

It is ethical or legal for a city mayor to use city stationery to endorse a political candidate for state office? And what about the candidate being endorsed or the political entity which is described on the letterhead? Are they complicit?
I do not know of any legal violations here, but it is a somewhat touchy ethical question. It is the mayor's right to endorse whomever he feels is best suited for the job but using the office to officially do so is questionable. The entity being endorsed is not complicit because they are not the ones committing the questionable act.

My husband started acting crazy a couple of months ago. Since I have been working out of town I attributed it to stress. Now he wants a divorce and people are telling me meth is involved. Is there any way to stop the divorce and get him help?
This is a bad situation all around. You need to seriously consider if it is worth staying with him. I have an extremely close friend who got into crack and became a different person. He was convicted of domestic violence and sexual perversion for something he did to his wife and son. It's hard but sometimes you have to let the drugs win in order to maintain your own safety and sanity.

There are already plenty of people in America who make their own bullets. It's really not that hard. Banning bullets would only make criminals steal or make bullets. Something tells me that most gangbangers are not buying ammunition at the local sporting goods store to begin with.

How would these results change in a person with peripheral neuropathy and someone with cardiac neuropathy?
As you take more air into your lungs you are bringing in more oxygen. The blood passing through the lungs picks up more oxygen so it can perfuse tissue using less blood. Less blood with more O2 does the same thing as more blood with less O2, albeit more efficiently. I don't know about the two special situations.

I agree that you should see a doctor. If you ever need an IV larger veins are a good thing.

Unlike anything with a lawyer, there is no charge for asking your Congressman for help. Worst case scenario is they say no.

Unfortunately in this situation it is probably best to get a lawyer. They're expensive and usually only perform simple tasks but this is one of those situations where you need one. First pay him a little to write a letter to the offending party. Most people are scared by such letters and if nothing else it establishes a paper trail that you can cite later.

Leg pain in cocker spaniel
I am inclined to tell you to ask a vet, as there are a a wide range of things that can cause pain. Not knowing what kind of pain it is, however, here are some things that you can do. Inspect the leg to see if there are any burrs, ticks, or flees physically irritating your dog. Figure out if the dog only hurts when he moves a certain way. How much does it seem to hurt him? The more you know...

Do you believe that a person must believe in a "Satan" in order to believe in a "God"? Why, or why not?
I do not believe that every person of faith inherently must believe in the dichotomy of God and Satan. If someone believes in the goodness of the Almighty they do not automatically need to accept the existence of an equally palpable being of infinite evil.

I use an electric razor most of the time. Even though it is a nice one it is still not as good as a manual one. I really like the Gillette M3 for important occasions.

If you got pregnant (guys, just play along) before you were ready, what would you do?
I would call the National Enquirer and get a big fat paycheck for my page 1 story, "AREA MAN HAS CHILD."
In all seriousness I would put the child up for adoption. My mother spent years waiting for a baby and was on top of the adoption list when she finally got pregnant in her early thirties. I would love to make someone like her happy. On a related note I am a big fan of safe...
Answer to:
I told my mom I'm going out with a black guy. She was upset, because if we get married, she doesn't want any child to have to deal with that racial situation(WAY far away, not even on our minds!)How do I approach, she's really old fashioned and christian
I do not think it is worth challenging her beliefs in this particular situation. Just explain to her that you are not planning to get married to him and that she needs to be realistic. Just smile and nod through her talk about the horrors of mixed raced children and keep reminding her that you're not going to have hid baby.

Is it legal for company's to require employees to wear uniforms and charge them a monthly fee on thier paychecks?
First off labor laws depend on the state in which you are working. Generally speaking, it is legal to charge, especially if your hourly wage after all employer charges (not including tax) is above applicable minimum wage.

If you could be any age again...what would it be?
I'm turning 21 next month and I'm thinking about how sweet it was to be 18-19. When I'm 22 I will come back and edit this to say I wish I were 21 if for no other reason than I'd like to remember it this time.

How do you feel about girls approaching guys for their numbers rather than just guys?
Being a guy I highly encourage it. There are so many opportunities I have missed because I assumed that a girl wasn't interested in me. I now realize that many of them felt exactly the same way about me. Ladies of AnswerBag, please feel free to approach a guy!

Answer to:
Are you good at keeping your money in order?
Yes. I know how much money I should be spending every week and I do not exceed that. That way I do not have to be obsessed with my bank balance. I can relax and trust myself not to spend more than I earn. I carefully read my monthly statements but aside from that I rarely know exactly how much is in the bank.

Answer to:
HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A CHILD TO HAVE NEVER HAVE HAD FAITH (IN GOD) AFTER GOING TO CHURCH MANY MANY TIMES, PRAYING, AND ENJOYING IT? WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE CHILD (NOT BEING PUSHED ONE WAY OR ANOTHER? HIS UNCLE AND MOTHER ARE ATHIEST BUT HE DOESNT KNOW.
I think someone needs to explain to him the concept of faith. It is natural for him to doubt The Word a little, as we all do from time to time. If he understands that all Christians have their moments of uncertainty than he will be more secure in his belief.

Has anybody had to have a die solution before a ct scan and if you have did it make you feel all hot and dizzy? i had some today and i couldnt stop shaking, i was just wandering if this as happened to anyone else
Different people have different reactions to these dyes. If the shaking was not bad enough to mess up the CT and it went away and hasn't come back then I wouldn't worry about it. Some injectables are made from animal products so they might be able to trigger allergies.

Answer to:
Would you listen to God if he told you to be more righteous than Jesus?
My kneejerk response is yes, I would definitely listen to a message from the Almighty. When I really thought about it, though, I realized that we already have plenty of messages from Him in the Bible and I do a very poor job of heeding them.

Whenever I try to open my Xbox disc tray it just makes a whirring noise, but doesn't open. I can tell it's trying to open, but I won't. I've tried using the pinhole method to manually open
It sounds like you have something stuck in the tray that is jamming it. Unfortunately you will not be able to free it with the eject button or the pin trick.

In an S corporation that is owned 50/50 by two people can the president of that corporation fire or limit access to the workings of the corporation from the other 50% owner who is the secratary.
This is the reason that businesses need clearly defined business plans from the outset. Some business plans are written to allow the president more autonomy and power while in other situations the partnership is just that.
If you both have equal stake in the company and there is no paperwork supporting either side, I am inclined to say that the president cannot restrict the powers of his...

What are physical therapy moves I can do to my who lays mostly on her side? She had back surgery last month and she needs to strengthen her back legs so she can get up.
I would recommend consulting an expert. PT looks easy but there is a reason those who practice it are so well trained. It is very easy to cause more harm than good. About has a good resource page for more general information on PT:

How to fix the speedometer cable on a 1993 honds domani it dosen't read how fast am going
Any time you are repairing legally mandated life safety equipment you should go to a mechanic.
Because mechanics can be very expensive, another option is to purchase a special accelerometer that will mount on your windshield and show you your speed. You can pick one up for as little as $90 new, which may be cheaper than a trip to the mechanic, especially if you think it might break again.

I changed the Harddrive and screen on my Ipod and I can hear the HD but the screen is white and no apple appears and no battery indicator
You probably either made a mistake in installing the screen or the iPod is designed not to work with aftermarket accessories. There is a reason that such additions void the warranty:

Are you happy with your partner's body?
Personally I think that I am. I had doubts at first but as our emotional intimacy has increased so has my physical attraction to her.
If you are not happy with something about your partner, you need to be honest and tell him/her.

Should Partial Birth Abortions be legalized in all states? Why or why not?
This is a touchy subject and I feel like I will get rated down no matter how I answer. Here I go...
No. They should not be legalized in all states. Think about who needs one. Who does not make up her mind about the fate of a child until several months into the pregnancy? If you look up information about the actual procedure you will learn just how unpleasant it is.

Why does it seem like the printing group QOOP has a monopoly on the internet photo printing business? (facebook, Flickr and webshots all use them)
QOOP actively targets websites and positions itself as the third party photo printer of choice. They operate that website http://www.blogprinting.com/ for this specific purpose. This in contrast to other photo sites like Shutterfly and Ofoto, who focus on attracting photographers and not webmasters.

In a place without water, who would win in a deathmatch: The Wicked Witch of the West or Gwendolyn, the Good Witch of the North?
Gwendolyn would win because good has to triumph over evil at some point. She also seems to have more power. Don't believe that "woe is me" act, she can kick butt and take names.

Well Im sixteen and he is 15 i cant sleep or eat without him. today he is coming up to my work when i get on my break is this a good idea?
I think you need to have something that is separate from him. It's great that you like him so much but you need to be able to function independently. Work is one place where you should be able to be apart for a few hours.
Here is an important question to ponder: does he feel the same way about you that you do about him?
