The British emergency number is 999. When this was invented, telephones were still operated by dials with 9 at the end. Why was this number chosen when it would have taken longer to dial in a situation when every second counted? I think it was to prevent mistaken calls. By using the last number 3 times it prevents any accidental phone calls wasting the emergency services time. In the UK the policy is to look at each application on its individual merits. So any previous refusals should not impact the chance of addmition, however! If there is a problem with the application then the previous refusal can be used as a reason to wedge the scale over to the no side. Best bet is to contact your local Canadian embassy and ask them their opinions.

Recycling(burning) plastics releases harmful chemicals. Yet people still recycle them. Why? Where I live they simply clean and sterilise the bottles and then reuse them. They are made out of extra thick plastic specially designed for the purpose.

I am a United States citizen living in England. When is my tax return due? It depends on where you are paying tax. If you are employed in the UK and paying UK taxes then there is no tax return per se. You can do one if you choose and they are generally due some time after April (when the tax year ends). If you are paying US taxes then I would assume your tax return is due at the same time as it would be if you were working in the US.

Have you ever misread an answer or question on answerbag...and regreted your comment or answer? How do you handle someone who will not let this go, and will troll your account because of it? Sure, we all misread them occasionally. Some people will just ignore it and move on, some will give negative and others will leave a nasty comment. I tend to be the latter one. It has happened on quite a few occasions that I have said something and I have been in the wrong. Generally I admit it in a comment, edit if possible and move on. Normally people accept it as a simple mistake.

Last night while talking to a friend who wanted information about the fight I told her he "got beat up".He overheard. Why did this bother him so much? Pride. Saying he "got beat up" implies that he lost the fight and was pummelled. If you had simply said "he lost" then there probably would not have been any problem.

My friend says it may be my registry but he's not sure. I can provide a screen shot! Help? Use your default browser (probably Internet Explorer) to download a brand new firefox instaler file. Also google "ccleaner" and download that. Run ccleaner and clear everything it suggests (its up to you if you wish to back it up when prompted, but it is a good idea to do so). Do you crush your cans before recycling / throwing them away? No. Where I live we have to pay a small amount for out cans and bottles. That is then refunded when we return them to ANY shop.
