No. Can you?
Answer to:
Why does my husband call me a bitch?
Because he lacks respect for you, which, by the way, is HIS issue, not yours. Just because someone doesn't respect you doesn't mean you are not respectable. It just means that you have someone in your life who is trying to control you through the tools of oppression. My suggestion, not that you asked for it, is to COMPLETELY ignore him when he talks to you that way. Respond to him...

What would be your view of a man who cheated on his wife when she was dying of cancer?
I actually knew a couple in these circumstances. The wife fought a long, brave battle with breast cancer, but ended up leaving a 7 year old son and 9 year old daughter to be raised by their creep of a dad. All during the time she was sick he paraded his lovers through their house as "helpers" for him and the kids. His wife would rally long enough to kick these sick women out of her...

How many pages of a book would you read before deciding it was crap?
If the first few pages are really bad I dump the book right away. I usually give it a chapter or two. Good writers know they've got to grab you pretty quick and keep things interesting and moving along. If the first two chapters suck, there isn't much hope for the rest of the book if you ask me. Time is precious and some things are just time wasters. I have similar feelings about...

Hmmm, my dad yelled and my mother gave the silent treatment. My dad flared quickly and then he would get over it quickly. He was mostly just loud in how he expressed himself. My mother could give you the silent treatment for a long, long, long time. She was slower to anger, but she stuck with it a whole lot longer. I've never heard this. I don't know why it would make any difference. . . unless the guy didn't know how to drive a manual transmission vehicle and the girl he was dating did. Some guys have a problem with girls knowing how to do more "cool guy" stuff than they do. That I would believe.

My sister is dating a man from India and she is nervous about his intentions. She read a lot of stories about Indian men having relationships with white women and later dumping them for an arranged marriage. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Caution, caution, caution -- you would not believe how many "foreign" men end up using American women and then dumping them when they have served their purposes. Indian culture is entirely geared toward marrying within its own culture and no matter what a man says or even how he may feel he still has serious family and cultural pressures that will dictate who he marries. I think your BF just "picked and excuse" so he could feel justified in leaving your relationship. Well, I don't think the little couple actually live together as "man and wife" until they're older, but, regardless, I think it is super controlling to choose a child's life-partner at such a tender age. Apparently it is quite common for cousins to be wed to one another at tender ages in the muslim culture. It was explained to me years ago by a muslim convert mother...

It's really hard to have one child who seems to receive more attention from others. One last question before I hit the sack... have you ever heard this... ''Good Night, Dont let the bed bugs bite''? Anyone know if this actually has a meaning?
Yes it does. You have a lot more company in bed than you could ever possibly imagine. That's why it's good to wash your bedding at least once a week or more often and those sanitized mattress bags are a good idea to suffocate/starve the little critters. Your mattress goes inside the bag, you seal it up and hopefully all the little blood suckers stay trapped inside where they...

Why do people say, "OK", to themselves when they position themselves in front of something they are about to handle, such as a sandwich or a small task or the beginning of an important conversation, as though the world had better pay attention?
I think it's because they have made a decision to take some kind of action and giving it the "verbal" "okay" is a self-actualizer that the commitment to action is about to commence. Sort of like we say, "Ready, set, go!" at the beginning of races.

Who is Malcolm X and why is his last name X?
He was a US native-born citizen of African (and probably white) descent who became involved in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's. He converted to the Muslim religion while incarcerated for, I think, burglary. It was after his conversion that he adopted the "X" as his last name (originally his last name was "Little") to signify the loss of his true family/tribal...

Why does it seem so many women blame the other woman when it was their partner who cheated?
Well, the biggest culprit within the "couple" is the man who acts on an impulse to cheat usually based on his own conceit as in this other woman "wants me bad!" Or even worse - flirting with another woman and acting on a return of flirtation from the other woman. Some men like to "test the waters" just to find out if they "still have it" and it's a...

I would suggest you tell her how you honestly feel but as gently as you can. If she likes you a lot and you don't like her back the same way, she will probably feel hurt for a while, but if you treat her with consideration I think she will get over her hurt quicker.

I think you should trust your gut instinct. If her contact with Brad bothers you because she has had "more than just a friendship" with him in the past, and especially because it involved cheating, I think it's fair for you to express the negative impact her continuing involvement with Brad has on you and how it makes you question your relationship with her. And rightfully so....

What is this about?: WASHINGTON (AP) -- Americans born after Dec. 1, 1964, will have to get more secure driver's licenses in the next six years under ambitious post-9/11 security rules to be unveiled Friday by federal officials.
It's so easy to manufacture fake ids in the United States. Each state has a different format so someone using an "out of state" fake id has it even easier yet. I think we should have gone with a Federal driver's license/id years ago, but the individual states did not want to give up all their DMV revenue. In a few years even people born before that Dec 1, 1964 date will...

An Alabama father was charged with four counts of murder after he confessed to throwing four young children into the water from a high-rise bridge after an argument with his wife, police said. What are your thoughts?
Completely heartless. I read the same story and all I could think was how awful a final moment it must have been for those little children being thrown to a watery impact death by someone they should have been protected by instead. It would have been better if he had left the children at home and thrown himself off the bridge instead. I think he just wanted to hurt the mother of his children...

I texted my ex a happy birthday and asked how it was (I am a few days late). And he said "Best one yet". So was that meant to be a zinger and hurt me?
My best guess would be, "yes" it was. A more neutral response would have been, "it was lovely, thank you for remembering me." Classier too, if you ask me. My advise, not that you asked for it, is to take the hint and don't text your ex again. If you don't open yourself up for a barb, you won't get one. If you can't resist the urge to text him back I...

They do it to get your attention. Kids love, love, love to have their mom's and dad's paying attention to them. Absolutely not. Killings are a gruesome business. I know it seems unfair that a brutal criminal gets more consideration than he/she gave any of his/her victims, but that is the way of our civilized society. My youngest sibling is my mother's favorite because, I believe, when she needed help she turned to an older sibling (usually yours truly) who gave it to her which let my mother off the hook for a lot of worries she would have had to help with otherwise.
Answer to:
Cheating...Would YOU or wouldn't you?
There was a time in my life when I would have said absolutely not, but that was before finding out that my partner had cheated on me numerous times. He hated counseling as all his stupid manipulating thoughts and behaviors got shot down one after another. We separated for a while and then he begged to come back. It was tearing up our children, so we reconciled. He really seems to be...

Is it a fashion for girls to wear your watch on the right wrist nowadays? I see more and more teenagers do this?
My parents gave me my first watch on my 6th birthday and I've always worn it on my right wrist even though I'm right-handed. (Right-handed people usually wear their watches on their left wrists.)
Answer to:
If you suspected your significant other was cheating or had cheated would you use a condom with them the next time you had sex?

Both are great but I would have to rank Bruce Lee as "first among equals" -- he broke a lot of new ground in martial arts. And he made it his mission to gain acceptance of himself as his own individual.

How many of you have had your life affected negatively by a parent, step-parent or close relative? Who was it? You don't need to explain what happened if you don't want to.
I was always a very happy, positive person and up until about 5 years ago I had no idea how much other people desire to beat that out of a person. I managed to survive huge negative influences in my family growing up, selfish and manipulative in-laws, a controlling spouse who only wanted my attention for himself and children who were not able to accept my acceptance of lousy treatment from...

O.J. is a murderer, plain and simple. It doesn't matter what his race is and I would be every bit as critical of him if he were Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian or any other ethnicity you care to name. I knew Nicole Brown and she was a truly sweet person.

Do you like or dislike the Walt Disney Company? Why?
I'm luke-warm on Disney. I like some of their stuff, but, overall I think they are guilty of overmarketing themselves. I have to say that Disneyland in CA is, in my opinion, getting pretty run down. And, I think it's fair for me to say that because I first went there over 30 years ago when it was in better shape.

Honestly, I would only give a kidney to my child. My parents would never ask for one of mine. I wouldn't ask one of my children for one of theirs. That's how we roll in my family. I'm not sure why, but we all seem to feel this way.

Every time -- I never skip this part of the bathroom routine. Ever. And, I never touch the faucets or door handles with clean hands. I use the paper towel I used to dry my hands. Even after I'm out, I always finish up with some hand sanitizer that I always carry with me. I use it several times a day when I'm out and about just as a matter of routine -- there are icky germs...

Reddish-brown walls and white on doors, door trim and crown molding/baseboards. Carpet is speckled tans. Marriage? an outdated ritual?
Really what do marriage vows mean anymore? Does it make any sense to "love, honor and cherish" anyone in this day and age? People who live together rarely wind up loving each other. Cheating is a world-wide past-time, and fewer and fewer people are intimate with the concept of "honor." Cherish? What's that in a society that is more interested in whatever seems new...

In your household do you currently recycle trash -- such as paper, plastic, glass and metal cans -- or not?
Yes, for almost 20 years now. We have always lived in cities that support easy recycling by supplying bins to collect it in and frequent/regular pick up at curbside. Our recycling bins have always had more in them than our garbage can. We also do green waste too so that doesn't get added into landfills either.

I'm thinking about getting Lasik eye surgery (near sighted) but I'm a little afraid...Has anyone here had any problems having this procedure done and does it last for a lifetime?
My sister did it a few months ago. She has the most beautiful blue eyes anyone could ever have, but her eyesight has always been poor. The recovery involved a lot more pain than we were led to believe (super painful light sensitivity and she said it felt like she had glass shards in her eyes) so that part was hard. The next couple of months were a question mark as to how much she was going...

No, that just means that the male of the species is a visual creature and looks tend to mean a great deal to them. Not all men are willing to bond, but most of them love to look. A better question is: Are you attracted to this quy you work with and did...

The feminist Germaine Greer pointed out that as women have become more emancipated they have shaved off more hair (facial, underarm, legs, pubic). Why is this? And who is it done for?
I think they do it for themselves since it's a personal choice. People feel differently about body hair. I like a lot of smoothness but I know lots of people who prefer having body hair.

The same thing, if you apply the same standard to both. In either case, both are probably unable to bond and become emotionally intimate. Having sex is not the same thing as making love.

Women in the northern Spanish city of Pamplona, world-famous for its ferocious bull-running festival, are demanding their own version complete with cows instead of bulls. Is this a case of equal rights or animal cruelty or a bit of both?
Oh, why shouldn't women have an equal right to participate in a classic case of animal cruelty? It's such fun. Plus, some obscure female writer would have the opportunity to launch her literary career by writing about it, just like Hemingway did with Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises. Now, back in the day, this was the method used to lure the bulls down to the bullring where they were...

Veteran human rights activist Judith Todd has revealed she was raped on the orders of Robert Mugabe's government. Why is rape an accepted political tool?
Is rape ever really acceptable? I think it's an inhumane behaviour practiced solely to humiliate and dominate the victim. I truly believe there is something seriously, sadly and unfixably wrong with any person who would debase another human being in such a manner.
Answer to:
Muscular young men are likely to have more sex partners than their less-chiselled peers, researchers at the University of California Los Angeles said on Monday. Do you agree with this?
I agree to a degree. I think being muscular along with having other physically attractive traits (ie. a handsome face) would be part of a package that would attract sexual partners. I don't think that sexual partners go for just the body alone.

Is it true that Islamic women have to cover themselves because it's believed that all men are inherently rapists, and therefore the women must take control of their chastity because men can't control themselves?
That's pretty much my understanding. A friend left years ago to work in the United Arab Emirates. While there she dated a man, converted from being Catholic to Muslim, became a 2nd or 3rd wife (no one ever really knew for sure), had three children, returned to her family and secretly had her tubes tied with their help as this type of operation is apparently illegal in Muslim countries...

No. I was raised a Protestant Christian and I remain a Protestant Christian. I do believe in the Holy Trinity and that Christianity at its core is a faith of love. However, I respect that other people may have perspectives that don't agree with mine and I don't anticipate that everyone on the planet will believe as I do....

If you had a teenaged child (over 17 years of age) that confided to you that he is gay and your spouse threatened to disown him and kick him out because of this, would kicking this spouse to the curb (out of the house permenantly) be a bad thing?
I would hope that your family would consider counseling. It is hard to have families come apart. No one should be "kicking" anyone out of their home and hearth. However, if your spouse is unable and/or unwilling to love and accept your son as he is and forces you to make a choice between him and your child because your child is gay -- as a mom, I believe that your chioce is your...

NO! Talk about a personal decision that belongs to the individual and the individual alone -- child or grown up. Do not try and force someone to eat something that they are not willing to eat. The reason really doesn't matter. Don't make mealtime a battleground.
They rule in my home was this -- if you do not care to eat the meal that has been prepared, you could select an...

I don't think there is any such thing as a "painless suicide." Suicide is full of pain -- physical and emotional -- not just for the one who (or who tries to) commit it. We don't live in a vacuum. What we do affects not just ourselves but those close to us as well. Suicide is a permanent act to a temporary state of mind. If you're thinking about it, please seek...

Rape is an act of violence -- like any other crime against a person. In my opinion the perpetrator is the only one who could be viewed as "damaged goods." The survivor of the attack is deserving of consideration and positive support -- absolutely no negative labels at any...

Any chance you might have some control issues? You can't "make" anyone stay in your life. And not everyone you choose is going to choose you back. Being in a relationship with another person is by mutual desire and consent. Sometimes that changes. There is nothing you can do to keep anyone in your life who does not choose to be in it. Just like no one else can force you to...

I have to go to an appointment, but I will check back later. For now the dream imaging that you experience makes me think you may be experiencing a "dual-dominance" of language. If you find in the future that you start dreaming primarily in one language or the other and wish to retain dual dominance fluency you might try consciously thinking you wish to dream in whichever language...

I wouldn't pay off anyone's debt as a general rule with the exception being if debt was incurred due to medical or catastrophic circumstances. Okay -- I'll translate: I have been going out with my boyfriend for 3 months now and we are living together (as in flatmates/roommates). Most likely he will. Do you really want to be with him so badly that you are willing to put yourself through this kind of insecurity and emotional agony? What about you? What is the most insulting gift a woman can recieve from her mother-in-law?
Mother-in-Law gifts are the worst. They are usually vehicles geared toward trying to get a son or daughter-in-law to be what "Mom" thinks "Jr." needs to be happy because, Lord knows, "Jr." can't figure it out for him-or-herself even though he/she made an adult committment to enter into an adult relationship with another adult.

Should women change their names when marrying?
To what purpose? It's not like they need a "new" identity when they get married any more than men do. Brides are the same people before and after a wedding ceremony same as Grooms. When two people get married they remain separate individuals who have chosen to form a union as a "couple." (Couple is defined as "two" of something.)

If you make him feel loved, cared for, desired and appreciated then trust him when he says he doesn't care about any other partners you may have had. Depends on what your body's normal elimination rhythm is, but from your reference to constipation it sounds to me like you are experiencing distress. If your distress level is low, try Colace (an over-the-counter stool softener) and lots of water. If your distress level is moderate or high, get to your doctor.
