Does anybody else think it's a little annoying when somebody comments your answer with only "Thanks" or something to that extent. Because when you go to see somebody commented you and you click it and all it says is "Thanks" I feel a little screwed inside
I answer a question because the question interests me, not for a reward-be it points (which are fun to acumulate) or comments for my answer (which are fun to read). Do you answer all comments to your questions with more than thanks? If so, well that's your style. I appreciate any acknowledgment from the questioner.

I am assuming that you are a friend of this person, not a professional who "saves lives" on a daily basis. Sadness, because I couldn't save another human being, but after a while, wiser because I would learn that I can't always save another human being. Gee, that's what happened on Days of Our Lives, so it MUST be possible. Seriously-it can, but very rarely does happen. Remember the case of artificial insemination when the woman had twins-one white and one of color? Turned out they accidentally used her husband's (white) and another man's (black) sperm to inseminate her. Nasty lawsuit and must have been emotionally devastating.

I enjoy green or Chai tea. I drink 2-3 mugs of it each morning. I also like hot buttered rum and hot apple jack cider. But those are holiday drinks so I only drink them during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Immersion. You learn things fast when your survival depends upon it. The ideal is to move to a French speaking country and ONLY speak the language. Second best is to choose a class that requires only French be spoken in the classroom. Find a buddy who will only speak French to you. You will learn to communicate quickly if speaking French is the only way to do it. (ps-there are also lots of...

How to become a good teacher?
A good teacher must have knowledge of the subject matter, know how to impart that knowledge to the students, and care about those students, not just as her pupils, but as people. Really good teachers are passionate about learning and teaching. There aren't many of them, and they seldom get the recognition they deserve.

Why are soap operas so addictive?
Because the story never ends. It's like the old serial movies--people came back every week just to get the next installment. Some comics in the newspaper- Funky Winterbean, Prince Valliant, For Better or Worse- have the same appeal. With the really good soaps, you miss something if you miss a day--the bad ones? You can miss a week and still catch up.

Is it true that one truly loves another only if the lover's happiness is entirely dependent on the beloved's happiness?
Sounds like co-dependency to me. Hold love with an open hand, allowing/encouraging a healthy amount of independence. Love is give and take--both are not always happy and you cannot always make someone else happy. I do not choose to live my life with my major mission being to make my "lover" (or my family) happy.

You and six others are kidnapped, and the kidnapper somehow persuades you that if YOU shoot dead one of the other hostages, he will set the remaining five free, whereas if you do not, he will shoot all six. What would you do?
Not sure I have an answer for this. First thought, shoot myself. Then I went deeper and decided it would depend upon who the other hostages were. Then I came to the conclusion that I was overthinking the question and that the SWAT team would have already arrived and everyone would either be rescued or dead by the time I decided. So, sorry, no real answer to a very good question.

They may not be aware of the situation, or there may be some facts that you are not aware of. Take the initiative as a parent--simply giving advice to your child about bullying...

Why do you assume the "elderly" perpetuate racism? Some of us "semi-elderly" participated in the civil rights movement in the 60's and have fought racism all our lives. Racism in all forms, against all people, exists at all ages. It is something that will be around until the end of time.

A grocery store is not a restaurant or a buffet. However, your question states "prior to making payment." so I assume the open packages or wrappers would be presented at check-out and paid for. No problem. But, get a bunch of grapes or banana or anything paid for by the pound, and eat half of them while shopping and then check out? Petty theft and the rest of us shoppers...

So much of teaching kids is training--you do it over and over again, with consistent expectations and consequences and they get it. Mess that up, and they train...

Sure, common definition of an agnostic is a doubter than a non-believer. (this is not a dictionary definition-just my opinion). You appear to be praying for guidance and have not rejected a higher being. An atheist doesn't believe in God and wouldn't pray to Him/Her.

A GOOD one! saute that chicken (dredged in flour-some salt and pepper would be nice, too), boil or micro those potatoes (sure you can't find a few onions or a bell pepper to add?) and sprinkle the cheese-your choice, over the potatoes or chicken. YUM!!!! Then go out and get an ice cream for dessert. Bon Appetit

Do you know what rights a married gay couple would have under the law as opposed to what they have now in a partnership? I would have to take the emotions out of an emotional issue and see what the tangible benefits would be. If it's just being able to say "we're married", I would vote no. Many people choose to be committed to each other without benefit of marriage. But...

Will any gay people vote for John Mccain?
There are other issues involved and you seldom find a candidate that agrees with you on all issues. But a candidate's stand on gay marriage and abortion are 2 that might exclude or include that candidate for a person's vote. So maybe no, maybe yes.

I have worn hard contact lenses for 50 years. Yes, they've been around that long. I wear glasses at home in the early morning and late at night, but other than that, it's contacts. I tried the bifocal lenses years ago, but they made me dizzy. Heard they've been improved so am going to try again. Never had any problems, other than occasionally losing or cracking one.

What should you do when an idiot is up your tail and honking?
move to the right lane and let him pass. if there isn't another lane, pull over off the road and let him pass. He may be an idiot-in which case you don't need a confrontation. He may also be someone in an emergency situation who need to go faster than you. No matter what--not a good time to play testosterone (or testosteronette) games.

My girlfriend cheated on me once when she was drunk at a party and i kicked her out. I don't know what to do now though, I love her and want her back, but I don't know if I can ever trust her again. She says that she regrets it and begs for forgiveness.
Most everyone deserves a second chance, but only if you can move on in the relationship and not focus on what she did. If you can't do that, let her go now because the relationship is doomed anyway.

I think that gardening can be good for a depressed person if they have encouragment to weed, water and take care of the garden. Who cares if you lose a few plants. But to see a whole garden die would REALLY be depressing. I don't think you can kill plants with thoughts or moods, only neglect.

To explain death as "just sleeping" has been known to cause enough distress and fear in children that they become unable to sleep. The fact that they are little doesn't mean you can't be honest. If you are a Catholic, you practice Catholicism. Practicing another religion makes you that. Now, you can investigate other religions, but I believe that once you "practice" a religion you have embraced it and left other religions behind.

What is your honest opinion of the bible?
To me, the Bible is man's interpretation of events that they did not understand at the time, as well as a poetic writing of those who believed in and followed Christ. It is a beautiful and interesting book to read, no matter what your beliefs.

Im pregnant and my due date changed it was suppose to be february 27 but now its 2-18-09. the doctor told me that i conceived on may 26 or 27 based on that wheel thing they use is that accuarate. could anyone help me about when i conceived?
Sorry, I wasn't there. Doctors often refine the due date as the baby grows and they can get more info by its size. A 9 day readjustment isn't much and if this is your first baby, you could be early or late anyway. If you are concerned about paternity, that is another matter and may require a paternity test after the baby is born (less invasive than before).

How long should i wait before removing my stitches?
Why are you taking them out? Usually the doc takes them out or they are the kind that are absorbed. I would think you could cause lots of problems, depending upon where the stitiches are-infections, tearing the wound, etc, by removing them yourself. Be careful.

I consider myself very giving and caring as a person, but if I'm stressed out or sick and can give no more of myself - I notice some people I associate with get very P.O'd. How can I stop caring what they think?
Continue seeing yourself as giving and caring, but add in there being important and worth attention. The others are just used to you always being there for them. Let them know that you need some good stuff too. Nothing to feel guilty about, just listen to yourself as well as you listen to others.

Girls also wear high heels, bras and other constricting apparel. Could it be that guys are into comfort and girls just haven't caught up yet? With age, they will appreciate more the freedom that looser fitting clothes, flat shoes, and oh well-maybe bras are here to stay-bring.

Go to the La Fonda in Santa Fe--but HURRY before the balloon fiesta comes to Albuquerque next weekend-so you must go during the week. Better-less crowded. Is true love and appreciation 'tested' when our parents become old & restricted & it becomes our turn to care for them >>> Or do we just close all doors & send them to a home to let others take the responsibility? Opinions please? (no offense intended)
Yes. But if they live in a retirement home or care center, your responsibility shouldn't end. You can still be there to visit, to take to lunch, to spend the day with them in your home--you are just relieved of the day to day intensive care they may require. My husband and I have both had parents who lived to be older, could no longer be alone, and chose to go to wonderful retirement...

While waiting in the checkout line at the grocery store, what do you do when the customer in front of you doesn't use the order divider after they put their stuff on the conveyer belt?
Didn't know it was their specific job to do that--I pick a divider up and put it on the belt, then unload my groceries. I try to remember to put a divider down after my groceries, but don't always do that. Hopefully it's no big deal to the next person in line. If so--too bad-more important things in life to get pissed off about. +5

If he demands, you don't have to be polite, just civil. Tell him clearly that you don't want him using your personal stuff without asking. There is also no problem telling him to clean up his mess. Remember this for your next roommate ('cause this one might not last very long) and write down a list of "rules/ requirements" to discuss with the person and have him agree...

I've seen a lot of cars for sale that say "Flood Damage" - what could be significantly wrong/damaged on a car that has been flood damaged?
Hey Miss Anubis
I know hardly anything about cars, but I know if they've been submerged, a lot of things, expensive things, aren't going to work. So if they've been fixed, the question is to what degree and with what quality parts. I wouldn't consider buying a car that says "flood damage."

I have a 9 yr old daughter and my fiance has a 7 yr old daughter and 5 yr old son. My fiance's dad's girlfriend called the kids stupid and dumb and called my fiance's son dense. I told my fiance and he told his dad and SHE denied it. What should I do?
Why do you need a court order? Don't you have the ability to just keep yourself and your daughter away from her? Sounds to me like you might learn bunches about your fiance during this. Take care of yourself and your daughter-but no need to escalate it to another level. Mouth garbage is cheap-consider the source and let go of it.

A guy goes on trial in Indy for killing a 6yo girl (stray bullet) who was laying on a couch in her father's home. His attorney says he will claim self-defense. Is that crazy, or what? Can he get off with that plea? (See link for the story)
I don't see anywhere in the story that the dad made the first move-so how could it be self-defense? Now, if it comes out that the dad made a physical threat against the defendant and he was responding to that-might be a plea. But doesn't appear the dad has been charged with anything. Don't think the story tells enough. Seems like there should be some major charge in any event...
