What caused the Reformation?
The primary reason for the Reformation was the desire of King Henry VIII to marry his concubine, Anne Boleyn, who had become pregnant. After numerous miscarriages and stillbirths, Henry's wife, Catherine of Aaragon, had been shunted off to live in near poverty on a remote estate. Since Catherine was a proven bad breeder, Henry was desperate and sent his emissary, Cardinal Wolsey, on...
Answer to:
Is it illegal to use file-sharing services such as WinMX or Kazaa?
There is no specific law that states that these sites are illegal. All you have to go off of is precedent. It all depends on how copyright law is interpreted. For example: Metallica sued napster for giving out their songs for free; in that case the court interpreted the law to say that it was illegal. Think of abortion, the only reason that is legal is due to a case in the supreme court...

Is it legal for an American to go to Canada to buy prescription drugs?
Yes, that in it of itself is legal.
I'm assuming the reason you ask this is because you heard that medicare in Canada is socialized (meaning it is payed for by the governmet so it is freee). So to get perscription drugs for free in Canada, you have to be a Canadian citizen. So to get a fake ID passing yourself off as a Canadian just to get free perscription drugs is illegal.

Is antibacterial soap harmful?
If you are an adult, obviously not. Antibacterial soap is not harmful to a child, but there are reasons not to use it routinely.
Here is why:
Our immune systems develop from interaction with bacteria. Think of the chicken pox. You would not be immune to it if you did not experience it as a child when your immune system was developing, hence it is good to expose a young child to chicken...

What are the potential benefits of stem cell research?
There are many potential benefits in stem cell research. The main benefit is to gain the ability to duplicate parts of your body (arms, legs, heart, spinal cord, etc.). This would drastically change the world of medicine. Every time someone had to get a lung (or any organ) transplanted there would be no need to find a doner; and once the lung (or any organ for that matter) is transplanted,...

Answer to:
Why did the Russian submarine, the Kursk, sink?
What probably happened (nobody knows exactly what happened) is that a fire broke out in the torpedo room. Because the fire couldn't be contained, it set off an explosion in one of the warheads causing all the other warheads to explode. The kind of hole that would be produced from this explosion is consistent with the hole found on the Kursk.

What is the Immaculate Conception, and what is its significance?
Ihe Immaculate Conception (celebrated sometime in December before Christmas) is the celebration of the conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is important because according to the Catholic Church, Mary was born without original sin (she never sinned during her life). The woman that was to bear the Savior (Jesus Christ) had to be pure, meaning that she was a virgin and without sin.

Yes, the XBOX uses RCA cables for connectivety, so you'll just need to find the right adapter(s) to be able to connect the rca plugs to whatever your projection TV uses.
There shouldn't be any reason not to connect your XBOX to a projection TV; though it is possible(but I wouldn't worry about it) to get siezures from looking at the screen connected to your XBOX too long...

How often are Catholics supposed to go to confession?
In Catholic school, the nuns tell you it is good to confession once every couple of weeks at least; they just don't force you. To go to confessoin once every year would be the BARE minumum. I don't remember his name, but a saint once said that a righteous man sins seven times a day.

Do the Catholic teachings recognise Charles Darwin and the theory of evolution? Does the Catholic Faith recognise that dinosaurs existed?
The above answer is correct, except that my church has no position of Darwin's theory of evolution. I personally recognize Evolution as an established and very probable means of the origion of our species. Just as long as you believe that God guided the course of evolution, any Catholic can choose to believe in natural selection (God created nature and all of its rules).

I have an Xbox and it won't play X-rated movies. Why?
If you have X rated movies I'm assuming that you don't have any parents like me who would've set the parental controlls and a passcode if I didn't do it first, and that these are undamaged DVDs.
What should be the problem is that the parental controls aren't set to your mature tastes. First once there are no discs in the xbox, you should see the "dashboard...

Is the speed of light constant?
If we are on the subject of relativity, yes
Einstien proved that light (in a vacuum) is a constant. He proved that nothing in the universe is travelling at the speed because as you near the speed of light your mass increases exponentially so something travelling at the speed of light would have an infinitely large mass. He also said that time is not a constant. So it would be true to say...

Yes. The Catholic Church is the only Christian church that is apostolic, meaning the bishops can be traced directly back to the 12 apostles (it's just as easy to find a list of all 265 popes of the Catholic Church as it is to find a list of all 43 presidents). Of any person alive only Pope John Paul II can say that he is a direct successor from Peter, Jesus himself chose Peter to be the...

Political structure and a DISCIPLINED fighting force
The reasons the romans were such a powerful fighting force was due to their modern tactics. Romans fought as one, just as any western army today....

Is it true that Catholics are taught to believe in purgatory and limbo, and is there a biblical basis for this?
In Catholic School I was taught to believe in purgatory on countless occasions. I don't think that these places are mentioned in the bible per say; but what really matters, and what I was taught in Catholic school, is that in parts of the New Testament praying for the dead is mentioned. This means something other than heaven, earth, and hell exist; it is pointless to pray FOR someone in...

Was there ever a time period when priests were allowed to marry?
Yes. Ever since the birth of Catholicism to about the time of the rennaisance they were, Peter himself was a married man. But the reason it was changed was because priests would have property and material things passed on to their sons, but the idea of a priest is to be a person that spends all of their time and efforts to the church. So now a priest would tell you that "he is married...
