I'm not saying that having children is a bad thing but I'd go for the microwave. There is no specificity of whether it is open or closed so I'm going to assume it follows the norm of being closed. If so, microwaves are virtually harmless. The mess in the window of the microwave has small enough holes to prevent the large microwaves from hitting the viewer.

Definitely do it, high school sports are the most rewarding experiences of your life, and there's no harm in just trying out. Soccer is pretty big where I live so it's hard to get on the team but that's different from school to school. My advise is try out for many sports and have more options.
