I was discussing this with others, and many of us had begun pinching, scratching, scab picking and hitting ourselves when we were very young (5-7 yrs)... we hadn't realized how long we had SI before the cutting began. You? I used to wish I was dead when I was about 7....I can remember saying it to my dad, and he said I must never say that. And when I was about 10, if I failed at my gameboy game, i used to hit myself on the head with it really hard, cos I thought I was so useless...if that counts. two years later, the cutting began.

I just started cutting myself recently. Please if you have ever cut yourself leave an answer, but anyone else, please don't answer. One day I was really upset and cut myself. Now, whenever I am upset, i cut. I don't know If I should tell my best friend. Telling your best friend probably wont help, it'll just worry them, and there's not an awful lot they can do. Tell your parents, or your dr, and try and get this sorted before it gets worse. It's a very easy habit to slip into, you need to sort it before it gets any more serious than it already is.

Sometimes just having them there will help, it doesnt mean you have to use them. You need to think about why you cut yourself, what makes you feel that way, and try and resolve it. Go to your Dr and explain how you've been feeling, they should be able to help.

I've had suicidal thoughts so I turned to a friend (who happens to be a doctor) as I thought they might understand how I feel, and now they arn't talking to me. I feel worse than ever. That's horrible, they shouldnt have reacted like that as a friend OR a doctor. I think you should go to your own doctor, and try and find some more understanding friends. This person obviously isnt worth it. I hope you get better soon :)

I used to cut my arms. Suddenly, over two years later, I experienced sharp pains in my arms where the scars from the cuts are. It feels like I am cutting them again, but I haven't touched them. Explanations for this? I reckon it's probably just the scars healing. My old scars do that sometimes, especially the deeper ones, it's probably just them healing. But if it carries on I'd go to the Dr. Try rubbing moisturising cream on them as well, that might help.

My mother says I'm violating "Honor thy father and thy mother," since it makes her look bad. Do you think so? Of course not. It's a scary thing, trying to kill yourself, and even then it doesnt always work. There is nearly always an answer, another way out, you just have to find it. Try and find someone you can talk about how you feel, your doctor or something, they can put you in touch with the right people.

I read that 2 11 y.o boys hung themselves up because they were severely bullied in school. I believe a teacher talked to them about it. But ultimately shouldn't a school's Principal be let go if this happens? That is shocking, the teacher should have done something about it as soon as they became aware of the bullying. I think if the situation was dealt with as best as could be, the two boys wouldnt have ended up dead. Ultimately, the principal should definitely be repramanded for alloweing such severe bullying in his/her school.

The doctors at the hospital would have told your "friend" if they were to expect any long term damage, and if indeed any damage had been done. They may refer him to a psychiatrist too, to try and sort out why he did it.
