Is the Mormon Church the true religion?
How do you even answer a question like that. It's nothing but a loaded question. Only Mormons will think it's the true religion, and only non-Mormons will think it's not. Every answer will be as subjective as the question. Considering there's no way to actually prove the truthfulness of a religion, I don't know how you expect to get an objective answer. Maybe you...

Is the united voice of the First Presidency considered a reliable source of doctrine?
Policy? Yes. Doctrine? Depends. If it's established doctrine (scriptural support or taught by other prophets), and they are summarizing or compiling it, then yes. If it is brand new, still yes, but it would still need to be accepted by the church to be considered binding (or canonical at the very least).

What must you do as a Latter Day Saint to have the gift of salvation?
That depends. How do you define "salvation". If you mean immortality, then Latter-day Saints, as with anyone else, need do nothing. It is a free gift for all.
If you mean eternal life, then Latter-day Saints must be baptised (John 3:5), put the things of God first (Mark 10:17), knowing God and Jesus (John 17:3), be rich in good works (1 Tim 6:18-19), and believe in Jesus (John 3:15).

I don't believe that Jesus ever stated that a qualification for being a Christian was believing God was never a man. I don't see then why believing such a concept would negate their claim to being Christian.

Is the recent single word change in the Book of Mormon significant? From "the principal ancestors" to "among the ancestors of the American Indians".
It is very significant. This change in wording now more accurately reflects what is actually in the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon had never proclaimed that the people within it were the principal ancestors of indigenous peoples of the Americas. By rewording this phrase, the Introduction not only more accurately summarizes the content of the Book of Mormon, but it downplays the inaccurate...

Presumably, those in spirit prison are those to whom the gospel has not been preached (1 Pet. 3:18-19; 4:6; D&C 76:73). What that means exactly is somewhat vague. One could assume that Christians have been taught the gospel of Jesus in it's plainest form (1 Cor. 15:1-4), yet the Mormon use of the word 'gospel' is more general and often encompasses principles unique to Mormonism.

If someone converts to Mormonism, is s/he expected to be perfect or is there room for error at the beginning (i.e. you had a coke)?
It is impossible for anyone to be perfect. It is inevitable that you will make mistakes. What is important to God is that you are trying to improve and that in the long run there is a positive change in behaviour.
If any of your Mormon leaders expect otherwise, just tell them to stop being so self righteous and then wear a pink shirt and a beard to church.

Technically, it is possible.
The amount of sperm in pre-ejaculate is small, however, and the chance that she ovulates while on the pill is small.
Nevertheless, while the likelihood is very small that she will get pregnant from pre-ejaculate while on the pill, a possibility still exists, and she could get pregnant.

What causes day and night on Earth?
The earth's rotations cause day and night. The earth makes one complete rotation roughly every 24 hours. At any point in that rotation, an area of the globe is facing the sun. This is day. As the Earth continues to rotate, eventually this same point will rotate away from the sun. The absence of direct sunlight is what constitutes night.

My car heater no longer works and white smoke is coming from under the hood. Are these connected? If so, what could be the problem?
It is possible they could be connected. Particularly if it was steam and not smoke.
It sounds like a problem with the cooling system. The heater takes its heat from coolant passing near it. If the amount of coolant goes down, there will be less heat delivered to the heater. There could be a leak. If the white smoke was actually steam, then a leak could cause that as well.

Doctors do not base conception dates on when you ovulated. They use an archaic formula based on when your last period was. The formula assumes women ovulate 14 days following ovulation. MANY women, if not most, ovulate on days other than the 14th.
Even after the pregnancy is well under way, the doctor would still not be able to accurately determine to the day when you ovulated since babies...

What happens if you don't chew your food thoroughly?
Food that is not chewed throughly could be too large too swallow and runs the risk of choking. In addition, food not shewed thoroughly has not had enough time for the saliva enzymes (such as amylase) to do the preliminary breaking down of long-chain carbohydrates (such as starch). This means the stomach and other areas of the digestive tract will need to do more work to break down the food.

It started during the First World War.
In the May 1915 issue of Harper's Bazaar, they ran an ad of a young woman in a dress with next to no sleeves. She had her arms raised above her head and showed bare armpits. The copy of the ad read in part, "Summer Dress and Modern Dancing combine to make necessary the removal of objectionable hair."

If Earth is furthest from the sun in July, why is it so warm in the northern hemisphere during that time?
Because distance from the sun has nearly no bearing on the temperature of the earth. The temperature of the earth depends on how high the sun is in the sky and the number of sunlight hours.
In July, the earth's northern hemisphere is tilted toward the sun. This means, the sun is at its highest point in the sky. This gives the sun the most exposure time, meaning the northern hemisphere...

Neither of them is permanent.

What is the reason for going on a mission?
Fundamentally, it is to gain more converts. Missionaries go out to share the tenets of the Mormon faith with others and to encourage others that these tenets are based on truth.
Another reason—albeit more personal—for going may include an opportunity for the young man or woman to mature spirtually, intellectually and socially.

My great grand-parents were baptized Mormon after they died. As far as I know they did not request this. Why do Mormons baptize the dead?
Mormons believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ is preached in the afterlife. They also believe some people who did not accept the gospel of Jesus Christ during their mortal life—or did not have the opportunity to—may accept it in the post-mortal life. They also believe baptism is necessary for exaltation and that baptism is not possible in the spiritual realm.
Hence, Mormons provide baptism...

It's been that way since Ancient Greece. Although records cannot verify games earlier than 776 B.C., the contests in Homer's Iliad indicate a much earlier competitive tradition. Nevertheless, if your kitten does have lice, care should be taken to treat the kitten and have all lice and...

Though it is difficult to determine the whole situation from one small sentence, I surely hope you are not joining the Church solely to marry someone, as your question implies. The ONLY reason you should ever convert to another faith or religion is that you have gained a testimony of its precepts. Why did the process of evolution allow for the humans to feel pain?
It allowed for many, many species to feel pain. It is a survival mechanism. If you feel pain, then your body will likely respond in some way to reduce or remove the pain. For example, if you place your hand on a hot stove, your body interprets the intense heat as pain and you instinctively remove your hand to avoid tissue damage, or potentially death.

I have been sucking in my stomach throughout the day to strengthen my stomach. Could this speed up my metabolism as well?
Likely not. Your abdominal muscles are slow-twitch muscles that you use every day. As such, they are more difficult to develop than fast-twitch muscles (like biceps, for example) Sucking in your stomach isn't likely to develop you abdominal muscles any more than regular activity will. Since slow-twitch muscles use oxygen for fuel rather than glucose (or glycogen) it is unlikely developing...

Answer to:
Does a change in the colour of meat indicate spoilage?
Change in colour alone does not mean the product is spoiled. Colour changes are normal for fresh product. With spoilage there can be a change in colour—often a fading or darkening. In addition to the colour change, the meat or poultry will have an off odour, be sticky or tacky to the touch, or it may be slimy. If meat has developed these characteristics, it should not be used.

When freshly made, Mild Cheddar (approx. 2 - 3 months) has a pleasant, milky aroma and a softer almost rubbery texture. As the Cheddar matures, it loses moisture and its texture becomes drier and more crumbly. It begins to take on a secondary flavour or taste. This "bite" or sharpness is the result of increased levels of salt and acids that naturally intensifies during the aging.

Diamonds are formed when carbon atoms deep in the earth are exposed to enormous heat and pressure over millions of years. Why do boats float?
It's based on the Archimedes' Principle which basically states than an object placed in water will displace an equal amount of water weight as its own weight. For example, a 2,000 lb boat will displace 2,000 lb of water. The displaced water will then push back on the object. So, the 2,000 lbs of water will push back on the 2,000 lb boat keeping it afloat.
