On this picture is a 1 GB HD from 1987, and a 1 GB SD card made 20 years later. What are the weights of both devices, & how many terabytes' worth of SD cards equal the same weight as the 1987 HD?
Well, the 1987 drive is an IBM 3380J drive, and those things are HEAVY! (I know because I used to work with them.) I'd guess around 80-90 pounds.
My guess for the SD card is about half an ounce.
That means about 2560-2880 cards to equal the weight of the old drive, so about 2.5-3 terabytes.

I recently got my hard drive on my laptop replaced, how do i put my files on my old hard drive onto the new one?
If you got a new drive, but not a new computer, you can get a USB external enclosure for your old drive. Then you can easily copy your files over.
Most brands come with a program to copy the entire old drive over in one shot, so you don't even have to reinstall software. (Don't use this if you've already started installing software on the new disk, tho. You'll lose all...

My bag is full in the color black, and it says I have 4545 points left until level 54. I think somethings wrong?
They changed the point system a couple of months ago. Those of us who didn't have enough points for our current level (ie, most of us) kept out level but were put into the "black bag" until we reached the new minimum for that level. The higher your level, the deeper into the black bag you were.
Once you get back to the new minimum for level 54, your black bag will disappear...

What's worse a root canal or getting your wisdom teeth pulled?
A root canal may take longer, but you're back to normal pretty quickly. An extraction is quick, but an open spot where a tooth was (especially a wisdom tooth) takes much longer to heal.

If you dropped 2 items of the same size, same height, and at the same time, but each of different weights (ex: 5 lbs and 10 lbs) which would hit the ground first?
I'll assume the items also have the same shape, because that can make a big difference.
If they're dropped from a great height, the heavier (and thus denser) object will have a higher terminal velocity and will hit first.
If they're dropped from a height where they'll hit before they reach terminal velocity, they should hit at about the same time.

Software developers – what do you code in? (I’m VB / ASP.Net and a little Access, after 20 years of Cobol & Unix) Besides the bliss of coding, how’s your job situation?
Currently, it's been mostly PHP and Javascript, with some Access, C++, and Korn shell scripts. I used to do a lot of COBOL, Assembler, and Fortran stuff. I've probably learned and used a couple dozen languiages total so far.
The job situation is good. I'm a civil servant.

Based purely on the sound of your voice, did anyone on the receiving end of your phone call ever think you were the opposite sex?
That actually happened relatively frequently to me before puberty. I was a precocious little brat; my vocabulary was large and my manner of speaking was very grown-up sounding. Since I still had a high-pitched voice, strangers on the phone would often jump to the conclusion that I was an adult woman.

The version I heard was:
A young couple own and run a Chinese restaurant. One night after a busy day at work, the man snuggles up to his wife in bed and whispers in her ear, "Hey hon, how about a little sixty nine?"
The woman sits bolt upright in bed, glares down at her husband, and says, "You want me to fix you chicken and broccoli at THIS time of night?!?"

Since some condoms are 99% effective (1 out of 100 not working) does that mean that your chances of getting pregnant after 100 times of sexual intercourse is nearly 100%? (Just wondering how that works =o)
Mathematically, here's how it works: If each condom is .99 effective, then 100 condoms are .99 times .99 times .99 ... and so on for all 100.
The short way to write this is .99^100, and it calculates out to .4047+. So There's about a 60% chance that at least one condom will fail.
All of which means that there's less chance of pregnancy from having sex with condoms 100 times...

There's nothing much you can do - the numbness will wear off when the circulation in your gums carries off enough of the stuff to let your nerves wake up. DON'T rub it to increase the circulation, tho - you could open up your stitches/packing/clots/etc.

Lasers can heat up (and possibly vaporize) the part of an object that they actually strike, but they won't make an entire object vanish like a phaser from Star Trek would. Do you have a great anecdote about a horrid teacher?
One of my professors not only had a very thick Chinese accent, he stuttered very, very badly. It was as much a torture for us to listen to his lectures as it was for him to speak them.
Oddly enough, every so often he sould stop, cuss in Chinese, then say the next two or three sentences almost perfectly. Even his accent improved temporarily.

How would you collect your fee? Not everyone's commute takes them through a toll booth for a brigde/tunnel/etc. If you added toll booths to all the major highways, that would snarl traffic up even worse than it is.

It's infeasable because nicotine is very addictive. Addicts will not pass laws to make themselves criminals (but then again, who would?).
Some, not all (but enough), addicts will bend or break any laws against their activities, regardles of the consequences. Some are just that badly "hooked", some just don't care.

How come Superman could stop bullets with his chest, but always ducked when someone threw a gun at him?
The bullets are special effects (blanks), and the actor feels at most a puff of hot air. The gun firing the blanks is a real, heavy piece of metal, and would hurt the actor if it hit.

You can use GCD Creator - it's a freeware profram from sprintusers.com. This will let you make .qcp files, which work on almost any phone, not just Sprint's.
You may need to tweak your song/soundbyte to a format GCD Creator can use. For this, I use WAVster, by Code-it software (code-it.com).

When a videocassette or DVD says, "This movie was reformatted to fit your TV", how do they know what size my TV is?
The're not talking about the absolute size of your screen, the're talking about the aspect ratio. A standard TV screen is 1.33 times as wide as it is tall. Movies theatre screens are either 1.85 or 2.4 times as wide. If they didn't reformat the picture, everything would look squished horizontally.

By international agreement, all boradcast station call signs must start with certain letters identifying their country of origin. Here's a current list: http://www.arrl.org/awards/dxcc/itucalls.html
As to why most of the "W"s are to the east and the "K"s are to the west, that's just FCC policy dating from 1927.
