If you are 18, in most states in the U.S. that means you are an adult, and you can make your own choices. If you can afford to buy the tickets and take care of yourself, then he can't stop you. You might have to move out of his house, since most parents have a rule - as long as you live in their house, you must follow their rules.

Fear is an instinctive reaction to danger, either real or imagined. It is perfectly natural, and usually controllable.
Answer to:
What is more pleasurable, a high with the help of others or a high at the cost of others? Even underwater basket weaving can cause high?
Any act at the cost of others will always be defeated in the long run.
If you are referring to a drug induced high from outside sources, it will always be at the expense of your overall wellbeing.
If you are talking about the natural high your brain experiences as a result of a release of endorphins, then how would be that at another's expense?
Answer to:
Do we fear the unknown or welcome it with no attachment as it might be the best time we ever had if we "expected" the best?
In the long run, it makes no difference what so ever. We can fear, and then be pleasantly surprised when it turns out good, or we can expect the best, and then be sadly mistaken. What we want to do has no effect at all.
It is wise to be aware of the possible consequences of our choices, but in the long run, life is what it is.
Answer to:
is it possible to have residency in canada through marriage to a canadian and still be able to work as flight attendant in the philippines?
I don't see how your place of legal residence has any effect on it. It could depend on the job requirements of the airline. If you can be where you need to be when they need you there, that should be the only consideration.

Answer to:
Are cursing babies cute in the way they draw fascination like a train wreck in progress?
Babies and puppies are always cute, it is a survival trait that is bred into us from the earliest days of human evolution.
When the images are using words that are considered taboo by adults, it just makes their innocence all the more appealing. I don't know what is going to happen when the "swear words" of today become as common as "huh" and "ummmm".

As a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, I can assure you that the average Native American thinks of the average white person of today as his fellow American. Even though we have our sovereign nation to celebrate our heritage, we are also proud to be Americans.
I have met some Native Americans who are just as racist as some while people, but thankfully, they are very rare.

First I decide if it's worth waiting until my husband or adult grandson return home. If I want it open right away, I have a pair of Kitchen shears that have a "bottle opener" feature with teeth to grip the cap. If that doesn't work, I have a circle made of rubber, like a thick rubber band, and that usually does the trick.

Is venting good for your health ? How and where do you vent?
Yes, it is very helpful. The best way to vent is to put on your walking shoes and "walk it off" as they say. One great thing about walking it off is that you can rant and rail all you want, including saying all the things that you have pent up inside you without hurting anyone.
Once you get it all out, you can take a nice hot shower, and maybe even cry if that is your thing.

When did AB become the Christian vs Atheist site? Boooring.
It happened right around the time the owners decided that quantity was more lucrative than quality. They changed the policy against duplicate questions, and once that happened the atheist vs believers became the norm, with the same questions asked over and over.
Some religious groups found out that preaching was allowed here, and told all their friends, so you see a lot more of that.

Whether the planets were formed from coalesced dust, or excess solar material, either way, they were made of the same stuff, so why is each one so different in composition?
The best way I can explain it is when you spew food out of your mouth, each spot will be made up of a different combination of what you have in your mouth, no two will be exactly the same.
Now give it all some time for outside influences such as wind, rain, and other things, and each spot that remains will be very different than the others.

Is it ok to just be a regular person? not a doctor or lawyer or even store manager.
Doctors, Lawyers and Store Managers are regular people too. They have families, dogs, and cars, just like everybody else.
The main difference is they get paid a lot more than the average worker gets paid, and if you don't want to make more money, then that it your choice.
It is perfectly OK to be a "regular" person.

The best use for credit cards is to put off paying for your purchases for a few weeks, until the bill comes, then always pay in full. Do not give the company any interest payments. What we do is put the cash we aren't spending in an interest earning savings account, and then we get interest instead of the credit card company.

If the individual is there to oogle women - it would be wrong.

I did, when I was younger, but after my oldest son was diagnosed as a compulsive liar at the age of 10, I made a vow to never lie again, not a white lie, not a feel good lie, not a little lie, or any other kind of lie - and I have stuck to that ever since (36 years).

Why do people people seem to be more pompous during the summer, laid back during the winter, on-edge during spring and whatever during the fall?
You have got that backwards. We are all more laid back during the summer, because of a feeling of well-being, and more uptight during the winter, because the absence of light brings on severe depression. The fact is that there are more suicides in the winter than any other time of the year.
In the spring, everyone is very lighthearted and in the fall, everyone is calm, and festive.

What I don't get is why does this question keep getting asked over and over? If there is no "God" then it has to be obvious to me that there cannot be any adversary known as the devil - it is self evident.

Whenever I hear the old adage, "FORGIVE AND FORGET", I want to REMIND the person saying it that the MIND was DESIGNED beautifully to REMEMBER. . . . . EVERYTHING! So . . . .while I may be able to forgive. . . . . . FORGETTING is an impossibility! Right?
It means forget your pain, not forget the incident. When you forgive, you relieve your own need to carry hate in your heart, thus 'forget' it.

Which one requires a deeper understanding of math, and by how much? Engineering vs Accounting
Now that computers do most of the math part, accounting is more geared toward an understanding of the accounting process than with math.
Engineering has a greater need for math, but not as much as pre-computer days. You have to know how to use the programs properly, but the actual math part is done automatically.

Answer to:
How much math skill do you need in order to become an accountant?
Since most accounting work is done on the computer, you need a basic understanding of math as it relates to accounting (debits and credits) and how to input the information accurately.
Once the information is input, you need to be trained to recognize what the information means and how it is to be presented.
Answer to:
Do accountants really need to be good at math?
Computer does most of computations. Accountants have to be able to roughly estimate the correctness of an answer, just to be sure there hasn't been an input error.
Being accurate and having a basic understanding of debits and credits, and using the computer, is the most important.

What makes the economy shrinking by 5% such a big deal? There's still 95% left of it?
When the economy shrinks, no matter how much, it permeates the entire world. The 5% figure just refers to a specific rating, but does not really tell the whole story with regard to the total effect. Some economics/statistics experts say each 1% of shrinkage of the gross national product actually means a 10% loss of economic 'value' overall.

I don't think that the staff or owners care that much about users, and unless there is actual, provable cheating, nothing will be done.
The owners get revenue from the number of users there are, by counting the 'members' which means one individual can generate more revenue for them by signing up multiple times. Sockpuppets work in their favor.

If your dad died in a nursing home because he fell out of the bed, would you sue? They didn't put the side rails up.
You could, and probably should sue, but just remember, collecting damages is the most difficult part.
Here in my area, a nursing home owner who had five different facilities was found negligent. They simply left town, and declared bankruptcy, putting all the people in their five homes out of a home.
The family who won the suit, plus all the people in their homes were left holding the bag.

Atheists, do you not believe in God because you don't want to be responsible for your sins?
To my way of thinking, it's the God believers who don't want to be responsible for their sins. They just claim the devil made them do it and ask for forgivness, and it's all good.
Atheists do not have any such thing as sin, but there is a since of being responsible for civilized behavior.

Until after the court settlement, the car belongs to the registered owner. If he is the registered owner, he can give the car to his sister.
If your name is also on the registration, the ownership of the car will be decided during the property settlement stage of the divorce.
If you are registered as the sole owner of the car, he has no say about what you do with it.

You know, I never have - yet. For my first real job, after working in food service and such as a teen, I took a test in the Employment Agency. They placed me in an accounting job, and it just kind of took off from there.
I held many different jobs throughout my working career, such as event planner, magician assistant, playground supervisor, and many, many more. Most of them came about when...

In the U.S., how can someone be arrested and charged (and convicted) for "Resisting Arrest" if he wasn't under arrest for anything else in the first place?
"Resisting Arrest" is a crime in itself. If a person does not follow the instructions of a police officer, he is automatically committing a crime.
This type of crime very seldom leads to a conviction unless the person was otherwise interfering with a police action.

Why is the unemployment rate in the United States so high?

When they stop buying, the sellers run out of money and have to close up their shops and fire everybody. With fewer jobs, the unemployment rate goes up.

For underwear, just ask the clerk.

When selling a house, is having finished basement that much better? If I spend $10,000 to install some walls and floor, will it add $20,000 or more to my current house value?
Generally a finished basement will add to the marketability of a home, attracting more buyers, but you will not double your investment by adding a basement.
You would be lucky to increase the price of your home by the same amount you have spent. This is especially true if the addition does not include a bathroom, or if there are too many 'short cuts' like steep stairs, no carpets...

Once you are shown to be a liar, no one can be sure that you aren't doing it again.
You might consider getting a new group of friends, or if it is family, just be sure to always tell only the truth, and they will eventually come around to trusting you again. It takes a long, long time.

However if it will be unplugged for longer than that, clean it out entirely and let it sit opened for at least two or three hours before securely fastening the door with a refrigerator belt or lock so it cannot be opened by anyone without unlocking it.

I use the microwave almost exclusively. I only use the stove for pan fried, and frying is not good for me, anyway.
Food that is cooked in the microwave doesn't have to taste bad or rubbery, if it is cooked properly, it is much healthier than stove cooked food, because can be cooked without excess water or oils, and uses far less energy to cook, plus is ready in a very short length of time.

Answer to:
My father died and set up a trust for his wife. It states that the trust money goes to his children after the wife dies. Legally, can I ask the trustee for financial documentation on the trust's activity?
If you are one of the next in line, you can ask, but it would be up to the trustee if he wanted to give it to you. You might want to get an attorney to protect your interest in the trust.
If there was no stipulation that the trustee should protect the trust for the next in line, you probably won't get far.

Our Son is almost 5 Yrs Old And Plays Soccer With Kids His Age. He Always Seems Excited To Play. When We Get There He Doesn't Want To Participate And Has A Fit. Some Suggest It Could Be Anxiety. Any ideas on how to handle this @ home? And on the field?
Apologize to the rest of the team, and take him home. He isn't ready for team sports yet.
Let him play unstructured soccer without 'teams' or scores, just fun kicking and running for another year.

Why is everything a disease or mental disorder today instead of just a little bit of abherent behavior? It limits the growth of the individual and diversity. I'm not trying to breakdown the fabric of society, or put down the medical field.
As with every valid medical diagnosis, people are always looking for somewhere to place the blame for feeling out of sorts, and their symptoms resemble 'real' conditions, so they use that as an excuse.

My solution to a similar loss was to compartmentalize my feelings. I had a delightful son, and that made my life worth living.

Would you personally considered it animal abuse if someone locks their dog in the bathroom with a bowl of food until they eat it?
If the dog has an eating problem, he should be taken to the vet.
Dogs need companionship, so locking them away is not a good idea.
Since a dog will eat when he is hungry, it is better to simply put a dish of food down and pick it up after 1/2 hour of not eating, then offer it again a few hours later.
They should be offered food at least twice a day, but if they don't eat it once...

Ann Minch of Red Bluff, Ca. announced in a YouTube video that she'd launched a one-woman "Debtors' Revolt". She will refuse to pay off her credit card balance after an unfair interest-rate hike. She got her interest rate reduced. shall we all try this?
It's not necessary to go to that extreme. All you have to do is call the credit card company and request a reduction in rate, and if you have made payments on time, they will do as you ask.
This can happen even if they haven't unfairly raised your rate. It is possible to get a rate reduction just by asking. I do it all the time.

For the last person in line to step up to the register is just like going to the front of the line and cutting in.
Some registers are set up so you are effectively trapped in the line, so the last person is the only one who can change lines, so it just depends on the set up.

I think my co-worker has "attention deficit disorder". He has plenty to do but today a call comes in and he is outside cleaning the windows of the shop. How do I deal with this?
OCD and ADD are two totally different personality disorders. You need a clear cut, written job description what spells out in detail exactly what your duties and his duties are.
Once you have that in writing, make sure you follow your own job description, and leave the behavior of your co-worker to the supervisor. It is not your problem.

The biggest obstacle to a relationship is a lack of communication. If you expect this person to read your mind, you are out of luck.

How big of a role does corporate greed play in the number of welfare (medicaid, TANF, etc.) recipients in the US?
It's not so much corporate greed as the inability of the corporations to see beyond their own immediate need, coupled with the constantly escalating consumerism of the American people.

How can we take the time to smell the roses?
It's all a matter of priorities. You have to simply decide that there are some little, seemingly insignificant things in life that actually make life worth living, and the time you take to enjoy them will add years and subtract stress.

Answer to:
Why is it that when someone does well in life they thank God, but when other people can't get ahead they say 'God helps those who help themselves'? Does god really have anything to do with it?
Even atheists use those sayings. They are not referring to a religious "God", but rather using the word gawd, which is more of an exclamation than a prayer.

Whose interests do financial planners serve?
It depends entirely on who they represent. If they are independent contractors and help you evaluate plans from several different sources, they work for you, and their fee is higher.
If they represent a specific company, and their job is to convince you to choose a plan from that company, they are serving the interest of the company, and their fee is much lower, since they receive a commission.

Answer to:
How do you keep a tired toddler up?
When he sleeps, you sleep. I babysit my grandson on weekends, and whenever he goes to sleep, I make it a point to stop whatever I'm doing and take a nap myself. That way, when he stays up until 3 am, so do I.
Another trick I have learned is to go in his room at night, close the door, and I take a nap on his bed while he plays.

Do banks need to learn to put the customer first?
Pablo beat me to it.
The average customer that puts their paycheck in the bank and writes checks or uses a debit card is not the revenue maker for the bank. In fact, the fees they charge for this service does not even cover the expense.
They get their money from the loans to their big business accounts.

AB is very addictive, AB is slightly addictive, AB isn't addictive at all?
Apparently some people can just come in and leave again, but I'm not one of them.
I don't agree with the use of the word addictive, because this is a different kind of compulsion, and it does eventually wear off.
I used to be on Answerbag every hour of the day, every day of the week, from noon till 2 am, but now I only come on for less than one hour, total, each day.

Hypothetically, what would happen if the US government capped every business's profits at say, 50%? How would that affect our economy? What would the scenario look like, economically?
Smart businesses would split up into many, many little businesses - all with the same owners, board of directors, and such. It happened when the Bell Telephone company was found to be a monopoly.
