Yes , I have said I know when I didn't - probably more than once. It had nothing to do with being out of the loop, but was just a simple mistake, which I admitted to as soon as I realised I had been wrong. Abortion isn't always a form of emergency birth control. I don't have any figures but I would expect the majority of abortions to be for medical reasons. As an example a girl that I know had her planned baby aborted recently because scans showed that the baby's skull wasn't developing and that the baby would only live for a matter of hours if the pregnancy went the full term.

Locally I travel by car, but if I want to go more than about 35 miles I have to go by either ship or plane. For journeys of up to half an hour (the next island) I would go by ferry. Anywhere else I fly.

I wish to sort my data into alternate rows male then female i.e
Male 12345 abc
Female 2345 def
Male 45567 tre
Female 6785 hgf
Thanks
The only way I can think of to do this would be to sort by male/female and then add an extra column. In the extra column give all the males an odd number starting at 1 and all the females an even number starting at 2 - you only need to enter the first 2 numbers in each case and then use the Auto-Fill handle to fill in the rest.
Then you can sort by the new column, which you can hide if you want.

How do I wire my ceiling fan to a switch in this scenario? Hope the picture helps.
You need to feed the live wire from the junction box, through the switch and then to the fan. The negative wire from the junction box is then connected to the other connection point at the fan.

An AB member told me about the brutal murder of a young girl in Illinois. Why is the Trayvon Martin murder being covered and not hers?
There were 14,748 murders in the USA in 2010, so it's likely that a similar number of murders will be committed this year. It would obviously be impossible for the press to cover them all, so the only ones that receive national (or even international) attention have some unique "selling point" as far as the news media are concerned.
The unique selling points in the Florida case were that the...

Who decides which brutal murders are newsworthy and deserve media attention and which aren't? Who is the decider here and why?
That probably depends on location. Any murder where I live would get massive press attention because they are so few and far between - I think there have been 2 in the 12 years I've been here. In a more urban setting where murder is more commonplace most of them probably only receive local coverage and there would have to be something unusual about them to get more than passing coverage....

What is the atheist's viewpoint on the Second Coming of Christ?
Surely you know that if atheists don't believe in deities they don't believe that Jesus was a deity or in any way connected to one. Consequently they would believe that there isn't going to be a second coming of Christ.

Even the people who keep telling us that Jesus's return is imminent wouldn't believe him unless he had long flowing hair and a beard - which would have to be natural blond despite the remainder of his appearance being Middle-Eastern. They also wouldn't believe him unless he was wearing flowing robes and had scars on his hands, feet and side. Of course, if he looked like this the rest of us...

I certainly don't believe in change just for the sake of change, but I'm completely in favour of progress.
I also think it's important to preserve things from our heritage, and that it's sad when historic buildings and monuments are allowed to decay. For example, I'm delighted that volunteers and charities in my country managed to bring the SS Great Britain and Cutty Sark back from where they...

You can often avoid the tax if you book far enough in advance, just check out a few dates with Jet 2, Easyjet and Ryanair to see which are cheaper. Virtually all short to medium haul flights no longer include a meal or an in-flight film - they will try to sell you a meal and they will probably offer to rent you a media player to watch a film. Vanishing and reappearing comments are caused by a long-standing glitch on this site. If I get an alert that I have received a comment and there are none to be seen I add a new comment and that makes them come back again.

Are all elections for sale to the highest bidder? Any exceptions?
Elections are only on sale to the highest bidder if a majority of the voters allow themselves to be influenced by the spin paid for by the highest bidder. The problem isn't so much that elections are for sale, but that too many voters buy the cr*p that is fed to them in adverts, instead of thinking things through for themselves.

I haven't heard all the evidence, so I'm in no position to say.
Answer to:
After viewing the video of Zimmerman, in police custody, can someone tell me, WHERE IS THE WEAPON USED IN THE SHOOTING?!?
WHERE IS THE GUN?
I would have thought a more important question would be, "Where was the evidence of the back of his head being beaten against the floor and where was the evidence of a broken nose?" I didn't see the slightest sign of any blood.
As to where the gun was, it's absolutely irrelevant because there is no dispute about who shot who.

Whyis there a marriage certificate from the US government when it is supposed tobe no religioun?Marriage has always been a religious thing.
Marriage is a civil contract that may or may not include a religious service.
In many countries a church wedding alone is insufficient for a marriage to be legally binding, and those who choose to have a church wedding must also have a civil ceremony, which is what makes the marriage contract legal and binding.

That would very much depend on whether the initiator of life you mention is a reality or a fiction. Since many men believe the latter they aren't going to obey something they believe not to exist.
On the other hand, those who do believe in such an entity are free to do their utmost to obey what they see as its commands.

Without emotions we would be less than human - regardless of whether we are male or female, although decision making is more likely to be sound if it is based on logic. Crowsnest's figures are absolutely correct. If the pool's volume is indeed 114,890 litres it was probably built to metric measurements and somebody has made a mistake in converting metres to feet.
A pool with metric dimensions of 10 * 6 * 2 would give a figure close to the 114,890 litres quoted if it wasn't filled quite to the top.

It was a room in the East India Company's garrison in Calcutta where contemporary reports said that 146 Europeans were locked up following an attack by a local potentate. Later analysis of the situation suggests that as few as 64 were imprisoned, but regardless of which number is correct only either 21 or 23 survived.

We don't need English to be a phonetically spelt language like Spanish because different regions pronounce the same word in different ways - you say tomayto and I say tomaato, but we would both know what the other meant.
In fact I would go so far as to say that text is in many ways superior to speech because strong accents don't get in the way of comprehension.

However, most members of any religion don't have that animosity, which is a product of extremism.

Flying is the only sensible way for me to travel from where I live. I was in Barcelona for the past couple of days and it took me just under 3 hours to get there. Going by sea and then overland would have taken 3 days - and would have been very much more expensive.

Innocent Canadian man arrested, strip searched and formally charged because his 4 year old daughter drew a picture of a gun? WTF?
From what I read the daughter did far more than draw a picture of a gun and the father wasn't charged with anything.
Having read a couple of accounts of this incident I would say that the police were unnecessarily heavy handed in their reaction to being informed that a 4 year old had told her teacher her father had a gun and used it to shoot 'bad guys and monsters'.

If you hate your country do something about it - either enter politics or go try the healthcare system in a country where you have to pay for any healthcare you need and then see if you still think you don't get decent healthcare in the UK.
Far too many British people at the moment are sitting on their arses moaning about the government and doing sweet FA about improving matters.

What does it mean when a computer asks you to "Insert Boot Media or Select Boot Media?" I don't speak this foreign language :-/
The boot media is normally the boot sector of your primary hard drive (C:). If that has become corrupted the computer will not recognise it and ask for a bootable device to be inserted.
Another possible cause is that a non-bootable disc is in the CD or DVD tray (or floppy drive if you have an old machine), preventing your machine from starting up properly.

Atheism is a simple belief that there is no such thing as God or gods. Agnosticism is the stance that the existence or non-existence of a God or gods cannot be known.
So, one says there is no god and the other says he doesn't know whether or not there is a god and he has no means of finding out.

Your Presidents are seldom well enough known overseas at the time of their elections to be popular. They become either popular or unpopular overseas as a result of their actions after being elected. I would say it is a good thing for the world in general if the actions taken by a U.S. President lead to him being held in high regard.

Why are some fill-in-the-blank questions allowed and some aren't? They're not being combined with prior questions. They disappear. Why?
I remember when fill-in-the-blank questions were automatically considered to be nonsense because they didn't ask a direct question. However, as Answerbag has moved progressively further away from its original format and aims, with more social chat and less information seeking, this type of "question" has become increasingly common.

For the parents out there...how did having a child affect your life? Are you the same person or did it change you in some way? If so, how?
I'm sure I'm the same person, but being solely responsible for a child's welfare makes you put somebody else's welfare ahead of your own. However, it's an easy and automatic step, having already put the other parent in the position of having her (his) welfare put first.

It amazes me how some parents assume that the mere act of having a child confers on them all the wisdom of the ages.
