Are you offended by the use of the word "retarded" as an insult?
I find it offensive unless it's used in the right context. People aren't retards, they have mental or physical retardation that they can't help. It's fine to use in a scientific or medical context, but to say "He's a retard because he walks funny" that is a horrible thing to say.

I'm sorry, but you can't have the cake and eat it too. In this situation, you either lose her (unless you stay friends after, but it's a slim chance) or you date other girls.

Are any internet browsers better than others to use or are they all about the same?
Internet Explorer is worst, not doubt about it.
As for the others, it's just personal preference. Google Chrome is very easy to use and simple. Firefox has lots of customisation options, and then there is also Safari. I haven't used Safari though, so I don't really know anything about it.

What are some current issues in psychology? I am taking a class, and I need some ideas. Thanks :)!!
Some people are asking for limited rights for psychologists to be allowed to prescribe drugs. At present, only psychiatrists (because they have a medical background) are able to.
Answer to:
What would be a good school appropriate experiment for me to do in my high school psychology class?
You could purposely defy social norms in public, and watch and document other people's reactions. Sing along to your Mp3 player on public transport, run up the down escalator, face the wrong way in a lift, wear a collared shirt backwards. The possibilities are endless!
Though, now I think about it, this isn't a traditional experiment, so I'd check with the teacher first.
Answer to:
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word psychology?

Answer to:
What could I do with a B.A. in psychology?
You could be a therapist, or continue in university and do your masters and become a researcher, or be a counsellor. You could also work in prisons, or in business helping to increase productivity. There is no end to what you can do with a psychology degree
Answer to:
Waht is the difference between psychology and psichiatry?
Psychiatrists are medical doctors first, and study the mind after.
Psychologists study the mind first.
Both can give effective therapy (though some might say psychologists are better at it), but only psychiatrists can dispense medication.

There's no need for them to be banned totally. That's going a bit far in my opinion. Restrictions are a good idea though.
And tazers are much more effective in stopping someone than a gun is. If you get shot by a bullet in the arm, you can still run away or attack someone fairly easily. But you get tazered, you're practically paralysed for a time, time enough to tie them down....

I'm female and 17. I enjoy watching the show of a Saturday morning, and her clothing range that I see at my work for 12-ish year olds is cute, but I do think that the skirts are too short.

How do dentists take teeth out? and how much does it hurt
I had my wisdom teeth out only recently. With two of them, I'm pretty sure they just pulled. With the other two, they had to dig at the gums I think. Like palaeontologists do with bones.
If you have general anaesthetic (as I did) the procedure itself won't hurt, it's the afterwards that hurts the most. The afternoon after they were taken out, I had no pain because I was still...

Figure out why you hate school and then take steps to fix it. Do you hate the subjects you're taking? If so, talk to your year head about changing to ones that you enjoy more. Of course, you'll probably still have to do maths and english, but if you balance those with ones you enjoy, those ones don't seem so bad.

No, the dikes are like man made hills. You can't have a hole in one in the first place, and the kids finger wouldn't do much if it did.

It was also great because of the slow dancing, there was only a couple of slow songs, but I loved it. We hadn't slow danced since our formal early last year.

Yes, if only in academics. Both Mum and Dad didn't finish high school (although they did do trades instead), whereas I finished year 12 and am now at university.
But in terms of life experiences, I know nothing compared to them.

Girls, if two of your friends were fighting and one of them was known as being girly and weak and started getting beat up. Would you help the weaker friend or just stay out of it?
I would get another friend of mine who is bigger than me (I'm not the strongest girl in the world, far from it) and then get between them and try to stop them from fighting.
Answer to:
If you ask a girl out on tuesday and she breaks up with u on monday the next week and says her parents found out because of some of her friends and they won't let her date untill she's 18, do u think she's being truthfull?
Hard to tell...what I would do is either forget about it, or find out from her friends and other people around her. But if she was lying, don't push it, it just means that she wasn't into you and didn't want to hurt your feelings. If she was telling the truth, I would leave it alone anyway. She won't gain any trust from her parents if you go around their backs.

I don't know about Hawaii, but the ones we have here in Australia are very lethal. I think it would take longer than 3 minutes, but I'm not really sure.
But your chances of dying, are, I think, pretty slim, depending on whether you're going during the jellyfish season or not.

If you forget the whole "God" thing, prayer does help people's mental wellbeing in these situations. Well, in any situation really.
Its a kind of meditation, which is very beneficial. It helps to calm the mind and to releive stress.
It also gives those in hopeless situations (like those in the holocaust) some hope, and some inner peace.

Um, no

Are you a virgin? If so, why? (I'm doing a survey, not being nosy)
Yes I am. Partly because I'm waiting for an engagement ring and partly because I'm only 17, so I figure I've got years to experience it.

Why is it so hard to believe that evil is something that is relative?? Its not like a person wakes up one day and says "I'm going to go be evil," he see nothing wrong with what he is doing, and thus, doesn't see it as evil.
There has actually been a lot of psychological research on this topic. If you can get your hands on it, there is a book called "Psychology (eighth edition)" by David G. Myers, which has a chapter on it. The book is intended for first year uni students, but is very easy to read. It explains it a lot better than I ever could. In australia at least, anyone can come into the uni campus...

Answer to:
I am..bigger, and i dont think any guy has liked me, why do guys usually only look at girls bodies, not their personality?
Looks only come into the picture to begin with, in the first impressions. It's there that guys decide whether you're hot or not, and apparently nothing will change that first impression. Having said that however, each guy has his own preferences to what makes a girl hot.
After the first impression, and you get to talking to them, they pay more attention to your personality (unless...

Do you think AB needs a mandatory tutorial that all new users must go through before they can ask or answer questions? Nothing major just a quick thing with the basics of how (not) to ask a question, answer, comment, rate...
I think that that would be a great idea. It would have helped me heaps when I started.

Maybe you have already lost the maximum amount that you had to lose and are now a healthy weight.
Or perhaps you didn't have any weight to lose in the first place (what is your BMI?).
Another reason could be that you have lost it slowly and gradually (the best way), and havn't noticed.

How much do you like or dislike Blogs, and why or why not?
Yeah I do like blogs. In fact I have a blog myself that I write in, that anyone can go and read (not that anyone really does, but that's beside the point). I also have a list of blogs that I have found that I visit regularly. A couple of my friends have blogs (except for the ones with MySpace), and it's a good way of keeping in contact with them and seeing what they're up to.

I am fine with my income (about $10AUS an hour), but I wouldn't complain if I had a pay rise. But since it is unskilled work that I'm doing, I doubt that'll happen.

Cricket. That is the most boring sport ever to sit and watch. The games go for an entire day! And they all just stand there for most of it.

How do i get a free blog?
www.blogger.com is a good site for having a blog, and it's completely free. You have a lot of lee-way to make it exactly how you want it, as well. I have one on there, and totally recommend it.
Alternativly, you could use a social networking site (eg: MySpace) and post your blogs there, but for blogging, and for posting your thoughts to a wider audience, a dedicated site is better.

Why is it that most people pray to God but never go to church or practice their religion?
That describes me perfectly.
I don't go to church because I think that Catholic mass means nothing, or at least very little. It is just a bunch of stupid traditions, imo. And I also don't agree with parts of The Creed
I 'pray' privatly, normally when I am in bed at night. I prefer to have convosations with God.
But I do go to church during Lent and Advent. So I...

Recently, I rented The Brothers Grimm for my 10 and 12-year old sons and i was disgusted. The magic was potrayed as, "fantasy" but it was way too occultish for us as christians. Now they want to see Stardust, which I heard has witchcraft too. Feedback?
I am Christian and I have seen Stardust. Yes, it does have witchcraft in it. But it is not anything to be very worried about. If you are worried about the witches, don't be, as they are portrayed as highly evil, and end up being punished by the good guys.
I don't think that there is any real harm in letting them see films or read books with fantasy or witchcraft in them. Fantasy...

I live in Australia, so Im' not sure whether it would help with insurance or not.

Have you ever felt sick before you had to go to work and called in "sick" only to feel 100% fine a short time later?
(Like an hour bug or a two-hour bug?)
Not for work, but it did happen for a first date once. I must have been really nervous or something, because I felt really sick and I actually threw up. I rang my date to say I couldn't make it because I was sick, but half an hour later, I was completely fine.

Well, I am as thin as the models (but yet, ate chocolate for lunch the other day, how does that work?), but the majority of people are not naturally slim, as I am. Those women should not feel like they have to diet and exercise excessively to be as slim as the models.
However, those who are that slim and have no way of changing that, should not be ostracised for being "anorexic"...

Hp is simply a fantasy book which teaches kids morals and things

As for the prostitution, I don't regard that as crime. It is sad, yes, but not a crime.

My Oma had dementia and was having trouble remembering who I was, as well as my other cousins. Sometimes she thought that my Opa was actually the father of her kids. (Their original spouses passed away years ago and they married each other when my dad was about 18).
Then she had a stroke and passed away while in hospital. I, personally was relieved, especially for Opa. It was sad and...

Do you consider the Vietnam war a holocaust perpetrated by the US government?
That is fairly feasible. But since I don't know much about it, I can't really have an opinion. I wasn't born when it occured. It depends whether the troops were sent in to kill the Vietnamese civilians or not.
In 30 years time, people might be saying the same thing about Iraq.

Who'd win: AB, Yahoo! Answer, or Wiki-Ask?
I use both. AB has a great atmosphere and community feel, but if I want help with homework, or I want to help someone else with homework (or edit work, or give opinions on poetry) I use Yahoo. Simply because you get more characters to work with.
It also depends on my mood. Everyone is much nicer here. On Yahoo Answers, people leave negative answers just so they can get two extra points.

They usually add bass in pop or rock songs by using a bass guitar, but sometimes they use a baritone sax, the low notes of a piano or a keyboard, the bass drum, the list goes on. Basically they use any instrument which has large strings (eg: bass guitar) or is just large in general (eg: bass clarinet)

if i were you, i would get to know her friends first. as for getting her email, go round asking for everybody's including hers.
sit with her at lunch one day, asking for help for the class you both share....

Is there any type of job in the world that pays me to do just about nothing?
Join the defence force. You do have to do work but it pays really well and you get lots of free stuff. My Dad was in the army for my entire life (I'm only 16) and they give you heaps of cheap stuff, like rent. My entire family also gets cheap private health care for as long as we live at home. We also got to stay at one of the nicest hotels in Perth, WA when we moved.

Are you put off by films with subtitles?
They improve your knowledge of other languages. I saw the French version of the movie "French Kiss" before I saw the English version and I loved it. And yes, I do only speak English

Other signs can be like her sitting next to you or nearer to you in class; her staring at you for no reason and then when you catch her eye she looks away and fidgeting when she is near you.
I should know because I'm a girl and we all do these things

I’m a night person, and have an awful struggle when I have to get up real early. Any suggestions?
I have two alarm clocks. I set one at, say, 7 am and the second at 7:05 am. The second one I move so that I can't hit the snooze button. That way, if I really want to go back to sleep, I have to get out of bed and turn it off. By then I am already awake.
Eating apples also helps, expecially the small, sweet ones.

What is the longest word you can think of?
The longest place name in the world is:
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
It is welsh and means "St. Mary's Church by the pool of the white hazal trees, near the rapid whirlpool, by the red cave of the Chruch of St. Tysilio"
Or at least it was the longest place name in the 1998 guiness book of records anyway
