I think that here is a place on the Bag for some of thes types of questions, but lately they seem to be every second question. Also, people seem to clone these questions, and just repeat a previous question with a different noun or verb.

Australian news regularly has stories about the US, particularly the election. I think it all kind of comes back to a butterfly effect, what effects the US will most likely eventually effect us. In that sense, its all relevent to Australia's interests.

Offering course credit or a raffle prize is the most common. Course credit is obviously more attractive, but not always possible. A lot of the studies at my uni do a raffle for an iPod or something similar, and each participant gets a ticket into the raffle.

The Sara Palin troopergate probe found likely inappropriate action on her part. Is it a legitimate issue that should be considered or partisan witch-hunt that should be ignored?

I haven't heard the full story, but from what I have heard it definately shouldn't be ignored. She seems to have used her position of power for personal gain, which is not something you'd want the leader/vice-leader of your country to have a history of.
