Answer to:
Is it just me, or has the quality of questions on AB dropped significantly since they allowed fill in the blank questions? Does anyone else see just how many truly useless FItB questions there are now, clogging AB?
I think that here is a place on the Bag for some of thes types of questions, but lately they seem to be every second question.
Also, people seem to clone these questions, and just repeat a previous question with a different noun or verb.

I went to China and saw newspaper of Obama many times, why does it seems like many countries in the world report a lot of news about the US?
Australian news regularly has stories about the US, particularly the election.
I think it all kind of comes back to a butterfly effect, what effects the US will most likely eventually effect us. In that sense, its all relevent to Australia's interests.

I'm in love with married woman.. should we stop talking, emailing? for my own safety?
I'd say you should for the sake of your own conscience. I'm guessing, since you asked this question, that you do have doubts about the morality of the relationship, so it might be best to just let it end.
What if you were to break up their marriage, and possibly a family?
It might be hard, but I'd end it.
Answer to:
Do long distance realtionships really work?
I think it really depends on the situation. It's impossible to just say "Yes, they do" or "No, they don't."
It all depends on what each person in the relationship requires to be happy, and on how commited each person is. An end in sight is also important, such as a point in the future when you know you can be together.

Sooner or later you will have to swallow your pride and just do it. There isn't a way around it, and if you don't, then you will probably spend the rest of your life regretting it.
You might get rejected, she might feel differently, but all you can do it try.

Thanks~
Serial positioning effect involves both the primacy and recency effect. The primacy effect involves people remembering the first pieces of information (or digits, words etc) fairly well, possibly due to these items being processed more and moving into long term memory. The recency effect involves people remembering the most recent items well, because they are still in short term memory.

If you have to check it to 'be sure,' then you aren't sure about her, then you don't actually trust her. So in other words, you don't trust your girlfriend to begin with.
If you did, you wouldnt feel the need to check :)

There isn't really an easy way to overcome the peer pressure and other horrible aspects of this situation. Growing up I was around a lot of kids who smoked but there were always a few who refused to go near it. Kids can be harsh, but kids also tend to get over things quickly....

The issues you're having could be caused by a variety of problems, not all being psychological. It's important to not make assumptions in this area based on popular culture views of mental health. The problems you're having could very well be purely based on the hectic pace your life seems to be taking, and may not be significant in terms of mental disorders.

I think that unless you watch ALL of the episodes, in order, you won't have a chance of being "unlost." In saying that, its classic J.J. Why isn't Hurley losing weight?
A lot of people ask this and seem to think it's some big whole in the realistic value of the show. For a start they have only been on the island for what, 2 months? In that time they haven't once had a shortage of food. I suppose you'd expect him to lose some from trapsing all over the island, but then again I dont think the Dharma supplies are exactly weight-conscious choices.

Light waves of different frequencies reflect off different substances to differing extents. Our ability to "see" the world is due to this, our eye's and optical system transform these reflected waves of light into a visual image in our brain.

Closely following it are Lost, The Office (US Version), Alias and Big Love.

Give similarities between operant conditioning and classical conditioning as used in psychology.
Operant conditioning is when a behaviour that acts upon the person/animals environment is reinforced/punished (Such as teaching a pidgeon to peck a button, to deliver a food pellet).

Does anyone know the name of the trial "to kill a mockingbird" was based on?
I havent been able to find a particular name associated with the defendents or victim in the trial. The best I could find was this excerpt:

Could you please give me some basic speed reading techniques? Thanks..
I've found that I began speed-reading at an early age, without realising it. For me, the easiest way is to read the beginning and the end of each paragraph (as expatbrummy suggested), but also to read any dialogue.
I dont do this consciously, its more that my mind now automatically skips bits, however I've never known a book that I've completely missed something in.

Do you like to read true crime stories? Are they generally accurate as you understand the facts of the cases?
I love reading true crime stories, and I also think they're a generally better when they aren't a recent case. I think that it probably takes a number of years(after all of the investigation, court processes etc.) for all of the facts to come out, so when an author pens a true crime story quickly after the case (trying to ride the buzz of the case I suspect) there generally isnt as...

What is the point of keeping a diary?
I have never felt compelled to keep a diary, I don't think I would get anything out of it. However, it has been found that expressive-writing (such as keeping a diary) can be highly useful in overcoming trauma, and also has positive affects on general health. So I suppose for some, it could be a very useful tool.

Which Stephen King movie should NEVER have had a sequel made to it? examples (Carrie 2, Firestarter 2, Pet Semetary 2 . . .)
I think that in pure terms of a "movie" - and when not compared to the first book, Pet Semetary 2 was not too bad.
Carrie 2 and Firestarter 2 were completely horrible. It stuns me that an author who has so much respect and success, is constantly being associated with these low budget, waste-of-time movies.

I was completely gutted. I'm really, really tired of tv shows "finishing" in an attempt to avoid a decline in quality. I don't think the Sopranos would have become less of a show if it had continued, at all. This happens with just about every show I like, and its ridiculous.

Australia has such a massive array of cultures in it, that I think I'm just sort of used to it. Obviously it would be nice if they all spoke our language etc but as for being deported, no.
Then again, even though Australia is so multicultural, there are a lot of Australians who would like to see all immigrants deported (see: Cronulla Race Riots, Pauline Hanson).

I started to answer, and then realised I'd not read the question properly. Yes, of course they can "contribute" to violent behaviour but having a bad day can contribute to violent behaviour as well. I think its totally neccessary for the Government to have laws in place for the protection of children. I couldn't see someone going through something like prison without changing. Whats important is whether the change was for the better, or the worse. The "act" could be temporary and he might go back to his normal self once he rejoins society.

Why do people try to be something they're not?
I think it comes down to a number of things. Like singwell said, they're probably so unhappy with the person they are that they make an effort to be someone else, who they see as a better person.
Similarly, they may be fairly happy with themselves, yet think that other people are not. So then they try to change who they are to suit other peoples needs, possibley to make up for a lack...

My childhood was spent half in the city half in the country so I got the best of both worlds. I moved to the counry just as I started being independant which was good because I got a lot of freedom. Growing up in the country is good as long as you get out at around age 13/14.

So? Who cares? Thats no argument, it's still dangerous and it still ruins peoples lives, whether there's something worse out...

If someone came up to me and said they spoke to God I would want some kind of evidence. So why should I believe what Joseph Smith said since there isn't any evidence that he ever spoke to God? I am dead serious. If there is evidence please let me know.
I think the idea of "faith" is that you dont need evidence.
This is a bit of a tired argument, I think people should let it die.

It varies for me. If a woman has an OTT amount of makeup on - its not nice. If they have a small amount on that emphasises their appearance its ok.

If you felt remorse over the way you ended a relationship way way in the past, should you try to find the person and apologize?
This is something that seems to happen in movies and tv a lot. I'm not sure how it would work in real life.
I suppose it depends on the level of remorse and also the relationship you had. If you abruptly and rudely ended a 1 week relationship its probably not best to try and make amends.
If it was a serious relationship and you were together for a long time - it might be a good...

What is your least favorite symptom of a cold? Sorethroat, Stuffed nose, runny nose, no sex?
I detest having a sore throat. It annoys the hell out of me. The type of sore throat that is constantly hurting, where you can't talk properly, and eating/drinking hurts.
What makes it worse, is that when you drink/eat something cold, it soothes it for like 2 seconds, then it comes back. That soothing feeling never lasts long enough.

Your dog is really old, and it sounds like its very ill. I strongly suggest you take it to a vet. I think if your dog is vomiting every night, its too late to ask for help on AB, you need a professional.

I've been a little obsessed with Matchbox Twenty since I was about 11. I just liked their music alot. Theyre the only band I can just listen to over and over without getting bored.
Theyre also one of the only bands whose songs I know the words to, I dont usually pick up the lyrics to songs.

Do you have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)?
I have things that I do, that annoy people, that I just HAVE to do.
I.e. When watching t.v. at night, I turn on a two-hour off-timer. Everytime I change channel it displays the time left, and if its say 1:57, I have to change it back to two-hours.
I do this without even thinking now and it infuriates everyone who watches t.v. with me.

This is one of the hardest communication barriers to overcome, are they joking? Can I joke back? Or are they serious? Do I be supportive?

Perhaps just be careful, dont say anything rash unless you're sure.

I bought a new jacket the other day and in the pocket was a little white package of silica gel. On this package, it say's "do not eat". Do we as Americans, have stupid written on our foreheads?
No, but if I may use a stereotype:
You, as Americans do tend to sue the pants of things quite often. If the company did not put this warning on the package, and someone ingested the gel and was harmed, they could be liable, I think.
Its just a legal precaution.

Can jurors petition the court to remove another juror who is not contributing or looking at the case from a non-biased standpoint?
I don't think so, the whole point of a Jury is to have a group of citizans to decide the validity of the case. If the case concerns a murdered wife, and one of the jurors happens to of had his wife murdered, then he's obviously biased.
I think in most cases they REALLY check into the potential juroros background to see if there is any cause for bias.

Why is it that humans in Europe and eastern continents evolved quicker mentally than humans in the Americas? For example… while Europeans had guns and steel weapons and armor, there were still "savages" with bows and arrows and granite daggers?
I believe its because of the isolation factor. In Europe people were much closer together geographically, and had more interaction. This probably led to more information being shared, and thus a generally smarter population. There were also people in Europe much earlier than the America's, if my memory serves me right.

I think at the end of the day, its the parents decision and input from other family shouldnt influence you, unless you choose it to.
I think if the parent reach a disagreement the only solution is to scrap the names you disagree on, and keep searching. There's pretty much and infinate number of names out there, eventually you'll discover the one that works for both of you :)

I wouldnt, it can often be a bad idea to mix species of birds unless you know what you're doing. Especially if the birds differ alot in size. It can lead to territorial fights, and most likely the larger species will come out on top, with bad results for your others. I've seen budgies kill each other, so even with same species it can be an issue to keep groups of birds.

This primer, like most primers, is thin, enabling it to flow into the the micro-scratches. The primed surface is then baked at high heat, causing the Teflon to solidify and get a reasonably secure...
