Why do humans need to be the ones to ignite the rings? Humans in the game are like a second or third evolution of the species, or at least some kind of splinter group or sub-species. It has something to do with the forerunners being the only ones able to activate the rings, and since the humans are decedents of the forerunners, they can activate them.
