Answer to:
Which do you say: aluminum foil or tin foil?
I use the term "aluminum foil" in regard to its applications for cooking and food storage.
The term "tin foil" I reserve for use in regard to libertarians and conspiracy theorists, as in calling them "tin foilers", a reference to the predilection of the insane toward donning tin foil hats to protect them from alien or government mind control.

Not at all. We are guaranteed freedom to exercise the religion - or not- of our choosing, and a total separation between church and state.

How and why is the US promoting atheism by misleading ads-"A million New yorkers are good without God. Are you"?
I live in the New York suburbs and have no idea what you're referring too, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with "the US" as you put it. And if it did, well, an ironic hallelujah from me. The only thing misleading about that ad is the number: five million is probably more like it.
Our founding fathers were at best agnostic; the notion that this is a christian country...

What is the biggest source of Evil? How can we get rid of it?
Currently, in my opinion, the premier source of evil in this world today is the Republican Party, which seems to exist only to rabblerouse, slander its opposition, provoke peace-loving people, and dupe poor white trash into thinking they are Republicans too - just because they are rascist, xenophobic, mysogynistic, fundamentalist christians, or all of the above.
The only way to rid ourselves...

Doubtful. The SPCA, whatever side of the ocean, seems often to dispense the very cruely they are supposed to be battling, and it disgusts me. You'd think they were some sort of government organisation by the indifference they peddle when you need something from them, as opposed to the other way around.

I don't know that it's exactly exclusive to the Philadelphia-NYC corridor (by which I mean New Jersey and the things that immediately surround it to the west and south-west), but Pork Roll, which may also be called Taylor Ham, is something I have rarely seen outside the region. I'm sure that varies by manufacturer, but I would presume that a "Premium" anything, if more than just a labeling device for the purpose of marketing, would contain higher quality ingredients (e.g. more cream, less carageenan or other emulsifiers) and therefore taste better.
I'm genuninely surprised by this question... coming from you. Do you not eat a lot of ice...

I would imagine that only the very first thing that ever happened in the history of all existance was truly spontaneous and had no cause, though many would argue that some "supreme being" would have initiated whatever that was. My favorite romantic movies are typically comedies as well; it's hard for me to say which one is tops on my list, because there are so many good ones. There is no war against terrorists. There is an occupation of Iraq, which the people are understandably fighting (wouldn't you fight if the US were occupied?), and an occupation of Afghanistan, which is at this point more a front in the War on Drugs than anything else.
The Democratic Party is simply speaking their mind, now that they can possibly be heard where it matters.

No, especially if he dirtied it while she wasn't around either.
Telling the woman about some little task you did is, in my experience, about as valuable as telling her you are going to do something. Neither, by the way, have any value in my world.

It's a really complicated story, going back to high school, involving her dating a friend of mine, me burning my eye while lighting a cigarette between periods, and a "power struggle" at the amusement park we both managed rides at across from one another. As I try to make sense of it here, sixteen years later, I find that I can't.

Sometimes people say that you should call a place of employment after dropping off a resume or interviewing with the company. In a way, this seems really tacky to me and yet I hear that people get the job if they do that. What should be done?
You cannot guess at what is going to appeal to the human being representing a company; the best thing to do, in my experience, is to ask, before leaving the interview, if it's okay to follow up in a few days with a phone call. If you're told not to bother, that's a fairly good indicator that you should keep going on interviews, and if the answer is yes, follow through and do it.

Some people 'Sleep train' thier infants by letting thier babies "Cry it Out" as early as 6 months old. What do you think about not responding to the cries of an infant?
I think that sometimes, there isn't anything you can do to stop it from crying anyway, so as long as it isn't hurt, hungry, or in need of a changing, I don't see the harm (other than to my eardrums).
No-one answers the cries of adults, so perhaps being left to "cry it out" is a valuable early life lesson.

Most times they forget, but sometimes, perhaps it's a case of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
Worry not. It often appears that the highest rated questions are some of the most inane. I'm just happy when someone even bothers to answer mine.

The Simpsons, despite it's longevity, is consistently funny and relevant. Family Guy is a good laugh, but I dont think it is good television.

What is the best way to surrender your transportion, especially if you are upside down on payments?
If you're referring to the "voluntary reposession" referenced in your other question, the best way is to call the finance company and tell them to come pick it up. It may take awhile to get to you, but they will.
| 1 person likes this
Answer to:
What is voluntary reposession?
Voluntary reposession is where you opt to discontinue making payments under a finance contract and surrender the property being leased or purchased.
It is reflected on your credit record as any other reposession would be, and you are still liable for any difference between the value of the surrendered property and your contractual obligation.

For the same reason that liquor stores sell liquor. Profit. You can't stand around in a liquor store drinking your purchase either, although that is generally a state law issue whereas any prohibition against smoking near a gas pump is by order of the fire marshall through local ordinance.

I don't know the facts of the case, but, mentally challenged or otherwise, if you kill someone without reason, there should be some sort of punishment. Perhaps I would have remanded him to a Psychiatric facility... or possibly sentenced him to a prison term. He certainly shouldn;t just go back out onto the street.

As suggested, it could be a nail fungus or an injury. If there is any pitting on the surface of the nail, it could also be psoriasis. You should have it checked out.

I feel less safe, because I am less sure of the status of my basic rights.
International terrorism is no lesser or greater threat today than it was on 9/10/01. A committed terrorist can perpetrate any atrocity he or she wants too, just as they could back then.

If every American started saving 10 to 20% of their income, 100% of credit card companies would go under because of defaults.

I don't think money necessarily buys justice, but it certainly can be helpful in escaping it. More important, though, is who you know. Money often means you know more influential people, but that's about as far is it can take you. Perhaps justice will work harder for you depending on who you are, but sometimes it just can't put the ball in the net.

This is one of the reasons why people in the outside world tend to see me as an introvert; as my mother taught me, if I don't have anything nice to say, I don't say anything at all. And I can sit in a room full of people for a week without making a peep.
I should probably get some medicine...

Do you think that the US needs a third or forth major political party in order to represent your views better?
What makes a political party a "major" one is having people belong to it. There are dozens of parties to choose from in this country, yet most of us line up at one of two.
It will be difficult for other parties to make headway against this juggernaut, especially considering that in major elections, you have to weigh what good you are doing for your "opposition" when you...

What do you think of slash-and-burn-pundits like Ann Coulter and her comments on John Edwards? Do pundits further poltical discourse or just damage the side they are batting for?
I just sit in utter disbelief that a self-styled intellectual conservative (if such a thing actually exists) like Ann Coulter would resort to the most grade school insult in the book while addressing a public forum (C-Span - not the conference). I'd say he's feeling resentful. After going out and having a good time with his friends, he has to return home to the real world of his pregnant girlfriend, which could be construed as kind of a downer, especially if he feels as though he didn't make decisions to arrive where he is so much as just sort of ending up there.

You must return the ball to play. Security will take it from you if you don't, and escort you from the stands if you make trouble about it.

I had what I thought was a scar at first, until it slowly spread, and it turned out to be ringworm. So I'm supposed to apply a cream until it disappears and then a week more. But it's gradually faded, still barely visible; when do I start the 1 week clock

When you can no longer see it at all, that's when you start the clock. And if I were you, I'd just keep applying it until the cream was gone, if you have excess.

To protect your eyes from damage courtesy of UV light, and also to add a dash of style to your ensemble. The are also very effective for disguising the fact that your pupils may be a different diameter than those around you, if you happen to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

As an Amercian, do you see a verbal attack on the quality of the President as a verbal attack on America? If so, why as in Europe people do seperate the two?
No, I do not see a verbal attack on the President as a verbal attack on America. It isn't my fault that he happens to representative of what a lot of America is all about these days; I'm in the other camp, and I don't take it as an insult. Thank God for that, too, since I hurl enough of them myself.

Do you think George W Bush is really as stupid as he appears or is he just putting us on?
To me, the only way you can judge the man is to look at him as a whole. He has piloted one business after another into the ground (including this country), but he has finagled his way to the controls, hasn't he?
I don't think, though, that we can discount the influence of his family on the course his life has taken. Whatever success he has attained has probably been coordinated...

Do you think Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama have a shot at winning the presidential elections? What are some of your reasons why or why not?
I think they'd be a great team of running mates, but I'm afraid that many swing voters in this country who might be drawn toward them as issues become more of a focus than personality and reputation will make their decision based on gender and race, not what's best for the country.
So in summary, no, I'm afraid not. But that won't stop me from casting my ballot for...

Yes. The band is "The The", and the song is off their 1983 album "Soul Mining". It is called, appropriately, "This is the Day".
But to hell with that album... "Mind Bomb", two later, is one of the finest musical works ever assembled.

Who was at fault for the mass brawl in the Carling Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea?
Toure, for sure, and Adebayor didn't help matters by running up and giving that shove.
Cooler heads should have prevailed on both sides, but the youth and attendant immaturity of the Arsenal side were evident in that moment.

Answer to:
How do you feel about Global Warming?
My personal opinion is that while data going back as far as we have been monitoring climate change supports the concept, we don't actually have any proof that it is caused solely by pollution.
For example, an oversimplified one, we have recently had an ice age, which ended (or is still ending), and this without the intervention of the human race against its effects. For all we know,...

Instead of answering a question, why is it that many so-called "Sage" answerbag members prefer to criticize grammar or sentence structure? Is it not true that even YOU can have a typo or misuse/misspell a word? Why not just answer the question?
I'm not a sage (here, anyway, although I do play the role of one in real life:), and the only time I overtly jump on someone's grammar or spelling is when I can twist the mistake into an answer that I find humorous. Often time, a mistake in grammar will utterly change the meaning of a question, and there have been cases where I have genuinely misunderstood the intention behind it;...

In the sense that we were British subjects, it could possibly be characterized that way, but in considering it in terms of the points raised by both Blaylock and Kovaciny above, I think it is best described as an American civil war; it was essentially a struggle between two factions, one of whom was attempting to wrest whatever control of the government had by the other, and reorganize it...

Should someone like napoleonbag, who is tongue-in-cheek offensive but actually funny have questions removed? Is there a right to not be offended which trumps certain types of free speech? I am in napoleon's corner. Where do you stand?
That's three questions.
I'm only going to answer the middle one, which will in fact answer the other two.
A privately owned company is not a democracy, and within it, there is no right to free speech.
For the record, I think napoleanbag can be funny, but also coarse, and sometimes a bit silly.

Answer to:
In your opinion can a guy and a girl be best friends? without having any feeling for one another.
Only if one or both of them is a homosexual.
I think it's a high ideal, but one of the two eventually develops feelings for the other, and that is a destructive force in a friendship when the other party can't or won't reciprocate. Even if kept hidden, it will manifest itself by sabotaging the other's romantic interests.
This sort of thing is almost destined for failure.

Catholic vs Christianity? Now Catholics also call themseves Christians, and yet Christianity seems different? Is it that Works and Grace thing? You either have to work for salvation, or you just accept it as a free gift?
Catholics have always called themselves Christians, believing themselves custodians of the original faith and church. In the early times after the reformation, as they colonized and proselytized, they never told the invaded cultures that there was another type of faith because they believed Protestantism was heresy. They were known as Christians, not Catholics.

Yes, I have. I went to County overnight on a charge that was later dismissed, and I went in with my best friend of the time. When I was young and attended the church my family has traditionally gone to, the same pastor was in the pulpit as on the day the building's ground was broken in the early sixties. After thirty-five or so years of service, he retired and MOVED AWAY, not even remaining part of the church he personally built.
Of course, the congregation was never quite happy with his replacement, and so...

No, and if for no other reason, because it falls to close to Labor Day.
Don't get me wrong, I support having as many holidays as possible, and being a selfish and lazy sort, I don't much care about the reasons behind them (as long as I benefit). Do you think it is right to force a child to sit there and finish everything on their plate?
I don't think so at all. Most children are not serving themselves, and therefore cannot exert any control over their portions. The body has a way of telling itself when enough is enough in regards to food, and that is when it is no longer hungry.

Does a question with many errors regarding spelling and grammar make the person who asked it seem un-intelligent to you?
Most often, yes. Unless the question is particularly well formulated, in which case I just assume intoxication.

Yes. Yes. No further comment.
Answer to:
Is it your place to tell a mother to discipline her child when the child is doing something wrong and she never does anyting about it or just let it go
Yes. It may not be appreciated, but there is never anything wrong with constructive criticism. Besides, how can a bad parent know how bad they are if nobody tells them?

I don't have one, but at my last job, it would have been zero.

Have you ever thrown in the towel?
For sure. Lots of times at chess, many times when pursuing a girl, and most recently at my career when I decide that I absolutely hated it and wasn't going to waste another second of my life at it.

Answer to:
Is it fair that some have to live with physical pain for life?
No, not at all, and even less fair that physicians are prevented from properly managing pain by the oversight of the evil DEA. If a doctor feels that a medication is indicated by a patients' symptoms, he or she should have the discretion to prescribe whatever and however much they think is appropriate, without fear of professional sanction.
Answer to:
A friend bought hydrocodone from someone and took it, she broke out in this red rash. my dad said it could be from it being her first time on it, but i dont think it was hydro b/c it happened to some other kids who had done it before, was it side effects?
I'm not sure I understand your last statement; are you saying that other people took the same pills and experienced the same side effect?
I'm sure it was a side-effect. Itching and therefore skin irritation is the most typical side effect of any opiate/opioid, after analgesia and euphoria.

Do you sometimes wish VHS tapes were back, and DVD's were a thing of the past?
Not really; VHS picture quality was terrible to begin with, and got way worse as your tapes aged.
I do wish Comcast would let me transfer from my DVR to DVD, though.

Answer to:
At school(or when you were) did you ever use to worry about getting your homework done? do you think its important now?
I never did my homework; it was a matter of principle. Bad enough I had to log my six hours or whatever a day for free, but then you want me to waste more time?
Please. My teachers were, with two exceptions, incapable of helping anyone learn anything during school hours. There was absolutely nothing they could teach me after 1:35.

As a smoker, I'd have to go for never invented, because if I had to buy them on the black market, they'd be just as expensive as anything else you might go there for.
