Do you find it hard to call an adult male names like Jimmy, Timmy, Tommy, Billy, Sammy?
It's Very Southern, and I know and love so many southerners that I just accept it for what it is. Johnny Depp hales from Kentucky. I find it strange that in U.S. society, shortening a beautiful female name (Suzanne to Suzie, Kathryn to Kathy, etc.) does not have the same stigma.

Would you think a marriage with a high school sweetheart would last-or most likely end with a divorce?
In my experience, most of these marriages end. You simply have not discovered your self while you're still in school and living with your parents, and you're not the same person at 30 that you were at 18. It's possible that two high school sweethearts will develop along the same lines and grow in the same direction, but it's rare.

Alright, someone please settle this for me. My hubby and I are arguing if Charles Manson is still alive. I say yes, he says no. I need answers and sources as he doesn't believe ANYTHING others say. LOL. Oh and what prison is he in?
Manson's death sentence was automatically reduced to life imprisonment when a decision by the Supreme Court of California temporarily eliminated the state's death penalty. California's eventual reestablishment of capital punishment did not affect Manson, who is an inmate at Corcoran State Prison.

I would ike to know if I can sell my house
by lottery. Each person would buy a ticket for
$1,000.00 lets say. Then after I get enough
tickets, I would draw a ticket by lottery

I live in Kansas.
There's a movie about this being done, "Spitfire Grill." I would think you'd have to stipulate that if you don't get enough takers, they get their money back and you keep your house.

One last question before I hit the sack... have you ever heard this... ''Good Night, Dont let the bed bugs bite''? Anyone know if this actually has a meaning?
Jeztyr handled the bed bugs part, but the saying actually went "sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite." The sleep tight came from a time before bed springs, when bed frames were strung with ropes to hold the mattress. Sleeping tight meant that the ropes wouldn't sag causing a bad nights sleep.

I read your other question about the flower blooming, too. Nature is not dependent on human beings, human beings are dependent on Nature. I grew up in the 50's and was a young, determined woman during the women's movement .. determined to educate myself and raise my two sons with strength and respect. When I see women manipulating through helplessness and acting like little girls it makes me think that all the struggles we went through to get more opportunities and rights was wasted on them. What do you think of the premise that a couple should have separate bedrooms? Not separate lives, just separate bedrooms to retreat to when they wanted to perhaps rejuvenate or wait for a sexy knock on the door?
Katherine Hepburn took it even one step further by suggesting that men & women should have houses next door to each other, but I think she wasn't considering couples with kids at home!

In my year on AB it seems to have gone from an abundance of interesting questions, spirited comments and humor to searching like a needle in a haystack for that now. Your SO has friends drop by (all guys). They start telling vulgar, degrading jokes concerning women in front of you. Your SO not only thinks they are hilarious, but starts adding some of his own. Reaction?
This is no different than a bunch of white guys telling vulgar, degrading jokes concerning blacks in front of a black person in their own home. Since your SO did nothing to put an end to it, and added insult to injury by participating, I'd take a long serious look at your SO. You deserve a man who respects women in general and who respects you specifically!

Do you like to read books?
I find more and more people just aren't into reading the way they used to years ago. Do you still go to the library or book store and get books? Or do you do all your reading online and rely on TV and movies for the rest?
I love books ~ to read them, to collect them, and to refer back to them. I went to the library today but I buy more than half the books I read.

Since philosophy encompasses ethics, aesthetics, logic, epistemology, and metaphysics, among other things, it would be impossible to name the most correct philosopher. And still "There are more things in heaven and earth, (albinocrocodile), than are dreamt of in your philosophies." ~ I couldn't resist having a little fun with Shakespeare.

Absolutely! Trick or treating is such a fun thing to do, and there's so very little for teenagers to do in my area. For that matter, I'd give candy to an adult if they were in costume! What's age got to do with it?

I snuck my sister's book of Mandingo when I was an impressionable kid. It's the story of a white woman who falls in love with her slave in the early 19th century South. They kill her, pregnant with their baby, but they cook him into a stew and pour the contents over her grave. Appalled then and all these years later, still appalled.

What do you understand by the spiritual phrase "dying is teaching us how to live"?
Countless books, plays and poems have been written on this theme. Fogelberg wrote that 'death is there to keep us honest and constantly remind us we are free.' Every account I've read from someone who was told they were going to die (mostly from doctors, hmm?) and didn't, were so much more appreciative of every moment. I guess I'd interpret your phrase as death...

Jesse Jackson recently accused Barak Obama of acting "white" - was he out of line?
He was out of line for the comment, yes, but not for the reason he said it. Six black high school students are facing life in prison for a school fight with a white student in Jena, LA. Jackson made this comment because Obama has not shown support for these boys. If racism were no longer a factor in the good ol' U.S.A., it wouldn't be an issue.

This could turn out to be one bad time in a lifetime of happiness, but I'd suggest couples counselling. Betrayal wounds at a very deep level and to really deal with it, your marriage might need the help of an objective mediator and good counsel.

Do you have good emotional stamina? How much crap/trash talkin can you tolerate until you break?
I think it's more a matter of common sense than emotional stamina. Common sense dictates that when someone starts crap/trash talking, walk away. There is absolutely no need to tolerate it whatsoever.

Definitely the body. My sons are in their mid-30's and their inner growth since 30 has been visible. Watching your children through their life stages helps you to revisit yourself at whatever given age, and I'll take my aging mind over my 30 year old mind anyday!

My wife returned from church yesterday with documentation (which appears credible) concerning the pastor's sexual deviancy. I'm beginning to wonder...is sexual repression and/or forced abstinance a vurtue or a sickness?
I read recently that 50% of Christian men polled admitted to a sexual addiction of one kind or another. Polls being what they are I'd never take it as 'gospel', but it made me wonder the very same thing as your question.

Why do you think people have the need to love?
We are not the only ones that need to love. Baby chimpanzees must be held, just like baby humans, or they will die. It's said that houseplants pick up on positive and negative vibrations, which is why talking to them helps them grow. My personal, unscientific thought on this is that this is an inter-connected universe and an inter-connected planet. It is cellularly vital for all beings...

Established neighborhoods where people knew their neighbors and shopped and went to school in their own neighborhood. My elementary school, our neighborhood grocery store and pharmacy were a block and a half from our house .. our church, two blocks, and a huge wonderful park 3 blocks. To this day I can name every family or widow in every house on my block growing up.

The problem, foundationally, is not with New Orleans but with the U.S. Two years later, the 9th Ward, an all black area, sits much as did after the storm, except for the tall grass that's taking over. My father recently passed away and i was left the house, with enough money to pay it off.. i want to rent it out, but theres so much stuff inside, what should i do with it?
It might be a lot to ask of yourself to sort through the contents of your father's house all at once and immediately. If money isn't a problem, I'd find a storage facility that would allow me to take my time when I felt up to it, which would also allow you to empty and clean the house to rent.

As an older, long divorced woman, my experience has been just the opposite. Most women my age aren't about to change the way they live their lives to get or keep a man (except for the very long married ones.) I've also noticed that the same isn't true for most older men.

The father doesn't want the baby. The most pressing question you have to ask yourself is how you're going to take care of yourself AND a baby. You're under pressure alright .. YOU'RE PREGNANT with some guy's baby who doesn't want it!! It is now and forever until that child is raised no longer about what you want .. it's about what that child is going to...

If you qualify, you could get free legal advice in your county. At any rate, when I divorced my husband I went to the court house and got the papers I needed and filed them myself. I met with a judge after six months and he finalized it. It doesn't get much cheaper than that but none of the court costs (filings, etc.) will be free.

What would be your thoughts on if a older church member regularly surfed "MySpace" accounts to make sure that the young people in the congregation didn't have any questionable content posted on their page? Also, this has been made public knowledge.
Interestingly enough, I just read a survey that stated that 50% of Christian men in the U.S. are addicted to porn. I don't trust surveys, but it got me thinking. Maybe the question is how this older church member knows about MySpace and why they're really regularly surfing it!! Sounds like the elders in your church need to sit this brother (or sister) down.

Einstein was a brilliant mix of genius, wit and faith in the imagination and God. As a Jew, he was forced to flee his homeland. He understood the terrible truth of the atomic bomb. He was unique as a man and his time was unique. There will never be anyone like him again but that doesn't mean that there won't be present or future scientists who blow apart our preconceived notions.

Sura 4:34, "Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other... So good women are the obedient...As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them." What does this verse mean?
To me it means that men concocted a religion that set them in charge of women because they decided that men excel over women. It gives men permission to admonish (beat) and banish (kill) women who they suspect of rebellion because good women are obedient.

What constitutes vulgar and obscene language: the heart or intended meaning, or the words in and of themseves?
If language is offensive to others and one uses them anyway, say swearing in front of your mother or the elderly, or using racist or sexist language, then you have to wonder what the person's heart or intent really was in using those words at that time. Words definitely have power, thus the phrase "those are fightin' words."

As a society we've lost all the social graces that once created a general sense of civility. Keeping commitments is just one of the babies we threw out with the bath water.
