Use some really powerful detergent/disinfectant/de-germifier (yes, I know that's not a word) and re-wash them in a clean washer and then dry them in a clean dryer.

I believe that using the same amount of water for both functions in the toilet is wasteful. That's the reason I'm a big fan of those toilets that have buttons for each bodily function.
