Why were Siberian ponies not successful in dragging sledges in Antarctica?
There were many disadvantages for using ponies:
- the ponies sank into the soft snow and floundered. They need snow-shoes.
- the ponies would not survive the cold.
- the ponies have to haul a lot of feed and hay for themselves. (Dogs have a more energy/weight for food and dogs would eat other dogs).
Because of these conditions ponies died from exhaustion.

Does any English native speaker want a language practice exchange?
From 'Answerbag',I got a friend. He checks the essays I wrote. But I have nothing to requite his kindness. I think if I can meet someone who wants to learn Chinese,we can help each other.
Just in case you don't find anyone.
You can use a spelling checker to check your English.
If you want to learn how to speak (pronounce) English than I suggest a Voice Reader:
http://www.linguatec.de/onlineservices/voice_reader
You can enter a text up to 250 characters. It is both in English and Chinese (also other languages).
Good Luck !

Answer to:
How can you tell how far away a storm is by watching the lightning and counting?
You can determine the distance lightning is from you to some degree of accuracy by counting the time between lightning seen and thunder heard. It takes about five seconds for sound to travel a mile. Thus, counting the seconds from the time you see the lightning until hear the thunder and dividing by five will give you the distance of the bolt in miles, divide by 3 for distance in kilometres.

Did people get mummified alive for wrongdoings in Ancient Egypt as depicted in the film 'The Mummy'?
The film 'The Mummy' is not a documentary about the history of Ancient Egypt. You better watch programs on Discovery Channel.
In the film "The Mummy' most of the action takes place in the fictitious Hamunaptra. In Ancient Egypt they did not mummify people who were still alive.
It is a fictional film and not, in any way, considered historically accurate.

Do you think some music video clips (for popular music) are getting to be too sexy?
I agree if you mean that sexy in a lot of music video clips is vulgar. Most of the time the 'sexy' clips are more important than the music itself. Not only are they getting more vulgar, but it seems that are more and more of these video clips. I don't watch these clips anymore, sorry. Maybe young teens find these clips normal behavior. If you gave me an example of such a video...

How do companies determine how many shares to divide their stock into?(If worth $5 million, 1 million shares at $5 vs. 100,000 shares at $50)
There are a few aspects. They want as many people to buy shares, so a low price is the best, between $1 and $5. It is very probable that the price will rise to $50 or $100. It's called negotiability.
