Get some Olbas Oil (its a decongestant)- cats really hate the smell of it. Dilute it with water and spray it around the edge of your garden to keep cats away.

Wands can be used to focus and direct energy and brooms can be used to symbolically 'sweep' the area clean of negative energies before beginning your ritual. Its a matter of belief and preference though on whether or not you use them.

The next time you see them, just casually ask like "Hey, how come you didnt call last night?" and see if they have a good excuse. If they are a good friend they wont mind you asking and either way, they should apologise for not calling.

A friend of mine has a lot of scars and she uses rosehip oil. It's meant to tighten and heal the affected skin and lessen the appearence of scars and I think it worked pretty well for her.
